Issue of CPU/processor T60 upgrade

Hi all

I have a T60 (1953-DAF model) with a 1.66 GHz processor (type T2300E). I want to upgrade the processor to one with a VT (Virtualization Technology in support of 64-bit) capability, say T2400 or higher.

I would like to know if there is any limitation imposed by the current model for what is CPU upgrade is. I don't know where to find this information.

If possible, is there something I have to do outside of replacing the CPU physically?

Thanks a lot for your help.

/Mebs

You can go to T7xxx and T5xxx CPU in the socket m format is not what you really need to do to upgrade other than the CPU. I recommend that you get the T5xxx, i.e. T5500 and T5600, etc..

Only the T7xxx was VT and 64-bit.

T5xxx in Socket M does not VT support, it only supports 64-bit.

CPU T2x00 can only support VT and no. 64-bit operating system.

AMD processors are not something in high demand so aren't too expensive. The upgrade that you propose would be very noticeable. It is not easy, however. If you have questions, after return.

CPU: Intel Celeron B815 clocked at 1.6 GHz

    Graphics card: GPU Intel(r) HD

There is not really a valid upgrade for you option. Has a Celeron processor models also have a motherboard which do no accept a Core (i3, i5, etc.), so you are stuck with maybe a little faster but still lame processor but nothing that will get you where you want to be. The video is a complete non-starter. There is no way in the world to do something with it. Your laptop is to make the work of the office and internet and your best bet is to sell and get something with a graphic power and treatment.

  • 7720SE of the INSPIRON 17R - what notebook adapter is required for the 3940XM (Extreme Edition CPU) processor

Would need a laptop 130W power adapter or the 150W? I prefer the 130W if it will work without problem, because I guess it would be smaller.

It works, and an adapter 130W, it seems very well... and no external cooling fan seems necessary, but I'm not a gamer... I tried a few tests of stress, including the cpu and gpu together at the same time and the only that it becomes hot enough to worry is the prime95, but apparently the newer versions of this software use fpu too and very hot processors. Older versions don't you almost as hot. However, it's winter. In the summer a cooling package may be necessary. Right now the laptop is just flat on the desk with the lid closed.

Basically kernel time run low average of years 40 to 80 years. 80 that I only ever really during the stress tests. I got 90 using this last premium 95... but it's the only thing that was always close to 90.

I'm so happy. The adapter of 150W (generic) in the store wouldn't run with the i5 processor (before upgrade - do not test after upgrade)... but I think the 130W is fine, even if I play games. Most of the apps I don't use the GPU dedicated anyway. I recommend this upgrade for those who really don't mind completely dismantle their computer and putting it back together. There is a good video how to replace the motherboard (in line - but I don't know if it's on youtube... but is it on google)

    Welcome to the forum!

CPU - Z allows to check the revision of the motherboard on your T60. If it is 3, you can go to the Core 2 duo up to T7600.

  • Satellite A50 PSA50A - CPU, RAM, HDD upgrade question

I wanted a laptop and my partner who is not real Smart PC (bless his heart) was released without my knowleadge and bought me a second hand laptop. That I really appreciate his kindness.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite model PSA50A - 7 k 047 number.
I know a little PC, but not much I can change a hard drive and add memory and processor for a desktop computer but have little knowledge with laptops.

This one has a hard disk of 40 GB and ram 240 and I guess is a Pentium 4.

-What I want to know is how old is this model, and how much I can spend it.
-What is the maximum memory, hard drive and it will take a Core duo.

I've never had a Toshiba before but I heard that they are really good and reliable.

Another issue is that I went into Device Manager and then system devices, and then the speakers, I found there was a driver that has not been installed. 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller - 24CC

The reason why I ask is that I tried to plug in external speakers and they would not work, I couldn't find a speaker headphone and microphone port. I thought it's maybe because the driver above has not been installed. Anyone know where I could find and download the driver.

When replying do not forget I am 50 years old and there are 5 years, I don't know even how to set up a browser, I taught myself everything I know now... I have 2 blogs and do a lot of marketing, but I'm not so good on the side of tech.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Pauline

    Hi pauline28
Goo gle is your best friend... ;-)

I guess it is 4 or 5 years...

I am only guessing, but the limitation of the ram upgrade should be 1024 MB depending on the operating system and chipset...
Take a look at the job (it can be downloaded on the website of toshibas)

all the drivers for this laptop can be downloaded from toshiba too.

the upgrade of the 120 GB HDD can work but there is no guarantee, perhaps that you have updated the bios

the upgrade of the central unit is the most foolish thing to do... why?
OK the cpu that works in your laptop be cheap
core-duo won't work in this chipset/socket... (not sure)

but make sure that this device will do things like surf the internet ;-) not in water ;-)
play the music, if the driver is installed
and the hard drive with 40 GB of space will be sufficient, if you put all your cds top ;-)

It may be a good idea to pay a specialist for this 20 minutes to check and install the proper drivers...

  • Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b003sm: Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b003sm processor and upgraded graphics card.

    Hello

I should probably start by listing the specs of the laptop. So here it is:

    Model: Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b003sm

    Series: [personal information]

    Product: C6T29EA #BED

Processor: Intel Core i5-3317U (1.7 GHz)

    Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics card: GeForce GT 630 m 2 GB memory

    OS: Windows 7 x 64

So the question, well not really a problem, but recently I have noticed that my laptop has been strugling to run the latest games coming out to the point where some games even on setting him down still have very low FPS.

Then I thought to replace my CPU and graphics card because these two seem to be the issue.

Now, I got the user guide but it was provided on a CD while my laptop is not a CD ROM  So, I have been unable to determine what kind of a slot processor use my laptop.

So I was wondering if anyone of you could help me determine if I can replace the processor and the graphics card on my laptop and if I can provide some suggestions to what I should look at, since I read that chaning a CPU on a laptop is sticky bussines.

    Thank you in advance.

Also if there is more information needed please tell me so that I can add.

Please have look at the below information shown for the processor upgrade

    (1) HDD: none size GB or the speed limit.

    (2) Yes, 4 GB is the maximum that the machine will start with. However, only 3 GB is used due to the chipset limitation, regardless of the OS used.

    (3) the fastest n ° the CPU, you can install is T7600 which is Core 2 Duo clocked at 2.33 GHz.

    (4) you will need to replace the motheboard. The T60p end Board machines with ATi GPU V5250 was all that could handle a T60.

Looking to spend a ton of money on a design of 8 years. Moving from a more recent laptop altogether might be a better idea.

    Good luck.

  • Mac Pro CPU and GPU upgrades

Hello, I am looking to buy a Mac Pro 2008 and had a few questions. 1. I found I can pass of say a 2 X 2.80 GHz 2 x 3.0 GHz CPU, but I looked up a few processors (from my MacBook Air i5 2013) and one very well like i5 Core 6600 k in guides and found compared to my only MacBook, it is barely faster , but compared to the 6600 k, is pretty lame. So I would like to know if I can put a more modern, faster CPU in the Mac Pro. 2. I saw you pass GPU also through multiple models of Mac Pro, but a similar question, wondering if I can swap in a GPU more modern. I'd be by accepting a list of compatible CPU / GPU if it works.

    Hello

I have the number piece Equium P200-178 PSPB2E-001002AV at the moment with Intel® Pentium® Dual - Core Processor T2080 1.73 GHz 533 MHz, I'd like to upgrade but that I can safely go with?

I think im after the same socket as it is Socket M but how fast can I go with that I don't want to overheat it cause ill be using the same cooling system.

    Hi bdragun,

These CPU updates is not supported by Toshiba and so there is no official list of processors, they will work in Equium P200. No one has tested the other processors in this model

  • Satellite A100 - 495 (PSAA9) - CPU and GPU upgrade

    Hi all

    I have a few questions.
    I have a Satellite A100-495 with 2 GB of Ram, Core2Duo 1.83 GHz (2 x; T5600) and an NVIDIA Geforce 7600go.
I want to spend the CPU and the GPU. Is this possible?
I don't want to do. I am looking for a store (if possible in Germany) that can do this.

If its possible, what it costs? And what store can I speak?

If this is not possible-> why? It is fixed; It getting too hot?

What solution do I? I don't want to buy a new laptop.

    Kind regards
    Dave

Update CPU and GPU on laptop computers is complicated enough or is not possible. At first, I must say that GPU is part of the motherboard and graphics card can not be upgraded at all.

What about the CPU upgrade? Toshiba authorized service providers will not do that and the CPU upgrade is not supported. Few people on this forum have talked about CPU upgrade, but for me the risk is too high. All hardware components are adapted to the work well together and also to reduce the risk of damaging the material. The BIOS is also suitable for the specific hardware configuration. The values of the fans are also tested and there is no risk of overheating.

Change CPU, you will get no more powerful laptop. Modern processors are powerful enough and a few MHz more won't do anymore difference. What you can do is to increase the RAM to the maximum level - 4 GB. That s all what you should do and your laptop runs a lot faster.

Also be careful on the configuration of the operating system. This will also help make your laptop faster than before.

By the way: for operations you need more power? What you want to do with your laptop?

  • Satellite P305D-S8900: CPU, RAM CIR upgrade question

    Hello

I have a few questions about the upgrade of my laptop.

    (1) can I upgrade the CPU, and if so what other CPU is availible.

    (2) can I put the memmory.

    (3) is it possible to install the CIR in this computer.

    Hello

First of all why do you want to upgrade the processor?
The P300 series is new and is supported by a powerful CPU. You won't see any performance gain after upgrading the CPU.

    > 1) can I upgrade the processor, and if so what other CPU is availible. (1) can I upgrade the CPU, and if so what other CPU is availible.
To do this, see this article from Toshiba
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

    (> 2) can I put the memmory.
This should be possible. In most cases, you can find the info in the user manual.
I think that 4 GB should be possible

(> 3) is possible to install the CIR in this computer.
Using the infrared interface? In this case, I recommend stick USB Irda.
It is easy to use and install.
