Lenovo T60 Upgrade component

I had the intention to upgrade the components of my T60. But I'm not sure what to update.

Hard disk: (Question: is there a limit?) Any brand works? I want to go from 60 GB to 250 GB or more).
Memory: (Question: 4 GB of memory is the limit?) Any brand works? "I want to improve from 1 GB to 8 GB).
Processor: (Question: is there a limit?) Any brand works? "I want to go from 2 GHz to 4 GHz).
Chart: (Question: is there a limit?) Any brand works? "I want to improve Intel GMA 950 graphics faster).

It will be very useful if someone answer my question. Please explain why there is a limit.

[Note: I did not the first time component that I bought.]
Lenovo Thinkpad T60
Model: 1951-58U
Processor: T2500 (2 GHz)
Memory: 1 GB

Graphics card: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
ThinkPad T60 - overview
ThinkPad T60 - detailed specifications

(1) HDD: none size GB or the speed limit.

(2) Yes, 4 GB is the maximum that the machine will start with. However, only 3 GB is used due to the chipset limitation, regardless of the OS used.

(3) the fastest n ° the CPU, you can install is T7600 which is Core 2 Duo clocked at 2.33 GHz.

(4) you will need to replace the motheboard. The T60p end Board machines with ATi GPU V5250 was all that could handle a T60.

Looking to spend a ton of money on a design of 8 years. Moving from a more recent laptop altogether might be a better idea.

Good luck.

  • Help! My Lenovo T60 Thinkpad too slow for life...

    Hello

So I got my Lenovo T60 for like a year and a half, and until two months ago, it worked well enough (he got the occasional fan at first error message place however) and then all of a sudden he started bluescreening, as it would not go past the Welcome screen. So I installed Windows 7 and it worked fine for 3 weeks, then again bluescreening. So I decided to go back to XP. Establishment lasted 2 days (no, I'm not exaggerating) and since then, it takes 30 minutes just to start. And although I can't do anything on this issue because it is too slow; a simple command such as opening a folder takes 10 minutes! Has it damaged something by installing Windows 7? What can I do to make it normal again? Thanks in advance

Looks like a bad HD for me. You need to check the bad sectors, which can be easily made to initialize with a linux LiveCD/USB and by running disk utility it. It will report on the SMART status of your drive, and I suspect that your HD to be riddled with bad sectors, ergo long boot time and BSOD.

It is the sound driver, I checked everywhere on the internet for days and still not able to find the right driver that works. I called the help line IBM Lenovo and all they can do is tell me the Web site to go because there is no guarantee that more than a dozen times already visited. You need more that just run the downloaded exe file.  Run this file (77a224ww.exe) just to extract the necessary files and puts them in a directory on your hard drive.  It does really settle anything.

Did you read the Readme, particularly the "installation instructions"?  Have you noticed that you need to uninstall any previous drivers before installing the new?

  • Lenovo T60 SCREEN black

    Hello!

A problem, that I turn to you, you have a 2007 (?) OM for Lenovo T60 laptop, but today all that is that when I play a game (in this case, GTA SA) then after an add about five minutes, the screen is empty and you have to restart the machine. In that case, in principle, the GPU temperature increases up to a maximum of 75 to 80 degrees. However, when he does not attend the cooling (no), was relieved that the GPU is 90-98 degrees and not turned off.
Currently I use the Windwos XP operating system.

Thanks in advance for your answers and your help!

  • After you have installed the latest Windows updates, Lenovo T60 laptop running Vista takes 30 minutes to start

I have Vista Home Premium installed on a Lenovo T60 laptop. The machine is
    3-4 years.

Although the system has never been quick to start, after the latest Microsoft
update has been downloaded and installed, it now takes about half an hour to start
the system of cold starts and 20 minutes from the sleep position.
It also takes a long extra time to get the Explorer running

What happened during the update may cause this extra on drag
    performance? How can I change?

I tried the system restore, but it would allow me to go back only to the point
When the MS Update has been installed.

    Thank you.

    Is your system error free?

    Event Viewer reports

    1. normally, when an error occurs on your computer looking in Event Viewer should be your starting point to find a solution. More related system errors are recorded and get an exact copy of the relevant report is important. Unfortunately, is not easy to understand reports and most of the users computer need help with their interpretation. I have to say later interpretation.

2 Event Viewer includes three main newspapers of Windows. Here's the Application, security, and system. For purposes of troubleshooting system is by far the most important.

    3. to access the system log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window select Windows and the system logs. Place the cursor on the system, right click and select filter current log. Check the front of the error and click OK and see you only reports errors. Click the Date and time column header to sort. You may need to click a second time to see the last report above.

    4. a tip for posting copies of error reports! Run Event Viewer and double-click the error you want to copy. Click the copy button to place a copy in the Clipboard and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste it into the body of the message. Make sure that it is the first dough right out of the event viewer.

    5. He cautioned against three types of reports, information, and reports errors. In most situations, it is the error reports that offer the best information but sometimes WARNING reports provide useful clues.

    6. all reports have stamps date and hour and when troubleshooting, it is important to focus on the latest reports. Reports of studies from the point when the computer is started, and then check if a similar report appeared in the previous session. If errors do not repeat investigation as to why they happen is wasted effort.

    7. in the individual reports the most important information is the event ID and Source such as these help when looking for help on the internet. The description is just as important and copy the exact text to use as search criteria greatly helps achieve better results when using Google. Not paraphrase descriptions when other people asking for help.

  • Lenovo B560 upgrade questions

I have a lenovo B560 with intel pentium, Intel HD Graphics Card and 4 GB of DDR3 Ram (I think) and I am wanting to improve the graphics card now and do not know which one to get. I'm goanna also replace the processor thereafter.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Phoenix...

Intel HD graphics is integrated with the processor, a dedicated graphics chip will be soldered to the main Board.

If you change the CPU with a more powerful one you probably have to install a larger radiator as well.

In short... the upgrade is not very practical, can think to sell your B560 and buy a more powerful laptop.

    Good luck... Zehn

  • Refurb. Without software Lenovo T60 - what to download?

I recently bought a refurbished the 14.1 "display Thinkpad T60 1951 type. It came with Windows 7 Home Edition (for refurbished computers) preinstalled.

He is not, however, come with one of the suites Lenovo software installed, such as ThinkVantage. So that the blue button does nothing (except enter the BIOS at startup), I can not change the trackpoint features or use the middle button, and volume keys beside her also to do nothing. Not knowing what other Thinkpad drivers and software he missed, I looked around a few discussions as well as the drivers/software Lenovo page, but I don't see anything conclusive. I don't know what exactly needs to be installed, and Lenovo's Support page has so many pilots planned, when I was really looking for a suite of software/driver for a single installation. Or even a CD that I could order.

I installed the Lenovo update system (v5.06.0007), in the hope that it would install the bulk of what I was missing. It is installed:

    -Thinkpad Hotkey features v3.87

    -Thinkpad UltraNav utility v2.13

    -Win 7 update Module KB2661796

    -Win 7 update Module KB2397190

The strange thing with the Lenovo system update, is it opens halfway off the screen to the right. The volume buttons work, but which is also weird size, with the right speaker icon and the part of the cut volume bar, and the whole graph is placed off center to the right. UltraNav works but I have not changed the settings yet.

I'm still missing after ThinkVantage however and could not find a download of the Lenovo support page. I realize that they have abandoned the software for LSC, LSC is not supported on this model of ThinkPad, so I need any more software Lenovo installed originally on this model.

Can anyone help point me in the direction of the correct downloads, or maybe where I can find a CD with all of the software/drivers top, to be updated after installation? I still have to communicate with Lenovo or check if my renovated 3-year warranty applies to a Lenovo support ticket, if necessary. Thank you.

    Hello.

What version of the system update utility do you use?

ThinkVantage programs are not a sequel, but a collection of different programs. You install only those you need.

I recommend to stick to an earlier version of the integration of the shortcut key for the older ThinkPads, i.e. T400 and more. Which eliminates all the problems, that the later versions of display on these machines.

Integration of features Hotkey v. 3.81.0100

In addition, you can install the Active Protection, Power Manager and the software fingerprint (if your machine has the fingerprint reader).

Here is the matrix of driver for the T60 for additional downloads.

  • Issue of CPU/processor T60 upgrade

    Hi all

I have a T60 (1953-DAF model) with a 1.66 GHz processor (type T2300E). I want to upgrade the processor to one with a VT (Virtualization Technology in support of 64-bit) capability, say T2400 or higher.

I would like to know if there is any limitation imposed by the current model for what is CPU upgrade is. I don't know where to find this information.

If possible, is there something I have to do outside of replacing the CPU physically?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    /Mebs

You can go to T7xxx and T5xxx CPU in the socket m format is not what you really need to do to upgrade other than the CPU. I recommend that you get the T5xxx, i.e. T5500 and T5600, etc..

Only the T7xxx was VT and 64-bit.

T5xxx in Socket M does not VT support, it only supports 64-bit.

CPU T2x00 can only support VT and no. 64-bit operating system.
