Hello

Do you know why laptop manufacturers recommend users to use just original material or tested upgrade parts?

  • Tecra 8100 - slot memory B do not work

    Hello

I recently bought a Tecra 8100 and I decided to upgrade the ram from 128 to 512.
I did not buy good modules, but in any case, when I opened the laptop, I discovered that I had 2 modules of 128 MB...
    I did some tests:
-1 module in the slot, he was allowed (128 detected)
-1 module on the slot B, nothing happened, the laptop won't start...
    -switch modules, always 128 detected
That's why I think that my slot B is dead...
Someone has any idea what I can do?
Maybe a bios update will do... I have yet to try this...
Furthermore, what is the combination of keys to access the bios?

    Hello

There is not much to do if the slot B is defective. If you don? t want to repair you can use the module in slot A memory of 256 MB. The number of compatible 256 MB module is PA3051U-1NME.

BIOS settings, which you can open by using the ESC key.

  • Tecra A8 - what memory upgrade is the best?

    Hi all

I have an old model TECRA A8 No.: PTA83E-0GY054G3 and I have recently upgraded to windows 7 (32 bit) and OFFICE10. But it is so slow that I am so fed up. I currently have 1 GB of RAM (2 x 512 2Rx16). Could someone tell me which is the best plug RAM for my computer to buy.

    1. can I buy 2x2gb or even 2 x 4 GB, or windows7 will recognize only 3 GB
    2. can I use pc3 techology or stick to PC2
    3. can I use more rapid frequency IE 667hz or stick to my memory 555hz.
    4. What is the maximum size in GB, each bank can read/accept
Please advice the HIGHEST specifications I can put in this model and have no problem. And I need advice ASAP. I can't stand another day so slow

    Thanking you in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

The manual shows as a result of information on RAM:
256, 512, 1024, or modules of memory 2048MB can be installed in the two memory locations for a maximum of 4096MB (Intel Core Duo/Solo processor module).

As far as I know your model has Intel Core Duo, which means that you can upgrade your laptop up to maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM.

But Windows 7 32 bit supports only 3.2 GB of RAM so an upgrade to 3 GB of RAM would be sufficient.
Specifications of new modules must be DDR2 at 667 MHz.

  • Tecra A3 - 108 memory upgrade - which speed?

    Hello

I bought my Tecra A3 - 108 3 years and everything works fine. But 2 GB RAM Windows Vista with certainty is not enough. I want to upgrade the/3 GB with 1 to 2 GB and 1 module of 1 GB.

In-service tries with Apacer memory running at 800 MHz, but Tecra has not identified 3 GB, just 2 GB :(

Service technician said that 800 MHz is too fast for this model.

My question is: what memory should I buy to upgrade my Toshiba? I mean, what is the maximum speed on the Tecra can work? 667 MHz?

    Thanks in advance.

    > Service trying with Apacer memory running at 800 MHz, but Tecra has not identified just 2 GB 3 GB,
    > Service Technician said that 800 MHz is too fast for this model.

Above all the RAM speed has nothing to do with the upgrade memory max.
The notebook chipset is not able to manage the 3 GB of RAM, and so the 3 GB of RAM are not recognized! It s any speed RAM is.

I guess that the laptop uses an Intel 915 GM or similar and this chipset chipset manages max 2 GB of RAM.

  • Tecra M3 and memory upgrade

I have a Tecra M3 (PTM30U - 6017 0c) and I upgrade to 2 GB of memory, but one of the slots will not read... only reads 512 stick... I was wondering if there is a fix for this.
The laptop says it can do 2 GB. Do I need to Flash the BIOS or y at - it another way to get it to pick it up?

    Thanks Lauri

    Hello lauri

At first, I must say that you are right about upgrade memory. Your laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM.
Your description is a bit confusing for me. If you have upgraded to 2 GB, you have probably used 2 x 1 GB RAM.
So, I don't understand what you mean with * only reads 512 MB stick. *

Do you use compatible Rams? Can you test the two slots and confirm that they are not defective?

  • Tecra M2 and memory upgrade

    Hello
    Can I install "SO-DDR PC3200 1024 MB Kingston \[KVR400X64SC3A/1G\]" to my Tecra M2 PTM20U? "

PS: pdf manual says"DDR PC2100/PC2700 may be easily installed in the computer."

PC3200 might work, it will come down to PC2700 speed if it is compatible.

    You should get sure PC2700.

  • Tecra 8100 - upgrade RAM and HARD drive

    Hello
I just got a Toshiba Tecra 8100. I do not have this small a HHD and I wanted to know what size I can get it up to. I know y thread already asked this same question, but the technology continues to go better then perhaps there are HHD I can get.

I am also wanting to upgrade the RAM. I've seen places that sell 144pin PC100 512 MB and I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade this 2 of them or not.

    Any input would be great!
    Thank you
    Doug

    Hello!

The Tecra 8100 was delivered with HARD s up to 20 GB drive. I'm pretty sure that this laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits ([www.48bitlba.com]).
I put t know what HARD drive you have at the moment, but a hard HARD 40 GB or 60 GB would work in this good old classic.

In addition, the Tecra 8100 can be upgraded to 512 MB of RAM. So that you can t upgrade your laptop to more RAM.

    Good bye

  • Upgrading processor on Tecra 8100

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a Pentium 4 in a Tecra 8100? Are there any that will fit the connector and the motherboard will be able to cope?

    Hello

Don t think you will be able to update the machine with a Pentium 4 CPU.
The computer is equipped with an Intel? Mobile Pentium? III processor and it has three speeds of operation as follows:
    450 MHz
    500 MHz

It seems that this is a limit.

  • Tecra 8100 - upgrade RAM

There was a discussion here ("Tecra 8100 - upgrade RAM") on the upgrade memory.
He said that for TECRA 8000 - capacity maximum 256 MB memory (2 x 128). (unlike TECRA 8100 - which can be upgraded to 512)

Does anyone know if the BIOS change may allow 512 MB with TECRA 8000?

    Thanks in advance,
    Piotr

    Hello

I don t think that after updating the BIOS on the Tecra 8000, you will be able to use the 512 MB of memory.
Like you said you can use max 256 MB (2 x 128 MB SDRAM)

  • Tecra 8100: memory slot problems

    I have a model tecra 8100 not: PT810L 12 c 42.

I had problem with slot B mem, so collapsed to use it. Then I upgraded my RAM and inserted a 128 Mb TOSHIBA THLY6416G1FG-80 RAM PC100-222-620 slot A and used for a month. Then he suddenly went dead one day and did not boot at all.

I took it to the point of service, they found somehow it work by sticking a piece of paper btw Aries and the cover. I used another week with ram cover duck taped it. Same story, then dead in the middle of winXP, switched off and no boot again. It took to the same service point, they tried some other RAM chipsets that it refused to start.

The interesting thing is; When they inserted a faulty RAM in slot A and non-use slot B we get the message "memory incompatible chipset" on the screen. With the RAM mentioned above in the slot B (problem as always) and the A we get nothing, just a blank screen, DVD slot starts green lit, but nothing.

WHAT SHOULD I DO, PLS HELP

What is the RAM causing problems? What must a chipset that is exactly compatible with the model no pls?
Is it the two locations of memory A or B, their change could solve the problem?

This is the machine he itself, must it be thrown away?

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

    Hello

I n know where you tried to upgrade the memory but as Lisa suggested this was not a serious technician. I changed and upgraded memory on multiple PCs, and you must use 100% compatible modules! You shouldn't t install the modules with a brute force or use strange things as a communication between the housing and the memory module.
Possible slots are damage due to use this procedure. But I hope you're a lucky man and everything will work correctly.

If you n t know which modules are right and taken in charge so you should contact the service partner authorized Toshiba for the right and the upgrade modules.

    Good luck

  • Tecra 8100 does not work after upgrading RAM

    Hello
    I bought a kingston KTT-SO815/256 pc100 144 pin, did a 2.50.on of my Tecra 8100 BIOS update
    It still does not.
In my BIOS total ram is ok, so the computer knows that it is in the slot B, but when I try to boot the computer to a blue screen appears necessary a bios update. (Already done) APCI is not good.
    Someone has an idea?
Now there is in the slot A - 64 MB
Tried to put 256 MB in the B slot
    them, that nothing worked changed

    Hello

Well, the blue screen error message usually appears because of the failure of the software matter or material. In case you I guess, apparently because of the new RAM.

The fact is that you can upgrade the memory to the maximum. 512 MB.
    These modules are compatible:
    PC100 256 MB (PA3051U-1NME)
    PC100 128 MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64 MB (PA3004U)

I recommend that you check you modules and try to use another compatible.

  • Tecra 8100 seeing all installed memory

I'm working on a Tecra 8100 laptop for a friend. Machine does not seem to recognize the memory installed in location B at all. Is there something in the BIOS to force her to perform a new analysis or I'm just looking at a broken slot? Everything seems OK visually and clips seem sound.

    I agree with Feliks;
Module of RAM or housing could be faulty.
You should try the RAM module in A slot in order to check the functionality.
If the same RAM would work in the slot, but not in the B slot then I guess the slot B is damage.

  • Tecra 8100 - CPU Upgrade

    Hello
I have an old Tecra 8100. I've updated the 700 to 900 Mhz CPU. It works but the CPU is always set to 100 x 7 = 700 Mhz. I think this would work if I find a tool that can update the record DMI for the CPU. DMICFG can read the values but could not write them.
Could someone tell my worms a solution?
I think there is a Toshiba tool for this.

  • Tecra 8100 memory module questions

Does anyone know if the ram PC133 144 pin for the Tecra 8200 can be used in the Tecra 8100? I think that the Tecra 8100 usually takes PC100 144 pin but I'm having a hard time getting suppliers to tell me about the PC133 so (probably because it is half the price).

    Hello

The Tecra 8100 uses these memory modules:
    PC100 256 MB (PA3051U-1NME)
    PC100 128 MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64 MB (PA3004U)
