How rman/oracle determines the number of archives journal saved per set.
Why is this 45 in my case?
Kind regards.
Greg

Hi Greg,.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of this change in terms of speed of backup/restore?

A single file means a process can read during a restore.
But if you only use a channel should not be an impact on the speed of backup and restore.

On average increases the number of channels can speed things up (you should test what is optmal for your system).
Change e.g.

SET UP THE DEVICE TYPE SBT_TAPE PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP BACKUPSET TYPE;

TO

SET UP THE DEVICE TYPE SBT_TAPE PARALLELISM 2 TYPE OF BACKUP BACKUPSET.

  • Issue of the journal of diagnosis

    I'm an EQL PS6100 storage array usage in a disconnected site where items must be (absolutely no exceptions) reviewed before sending. Diagnosis of the table is encrypted and is not human-readable. I was able to work with support without diagnostic logs but am now running in a recurring issue.

    I would like to get these logs to Dell in order to identify a root cause. Is there a way to generate unencrypted newspapers or a certificate of sorts offered by Dell that indicates the data found in the newspapers themselves?

    Thanks for any input.

    Hello

    There is no document like this, I know.   Does not mean that it could not be written.

    Short version is the diag newspapers are the result of various exclusive commands that dump newspapers, the DB group, info on the H/W status, network status, .drive history, cache, etc.   As a block device table doesn't have access to the flies.  Blocks are translated in the pages of 15 MB.  Each page may have different parts of a volume on the subject.  Data on the pages is not used in the order.  So, even if the controller could access the data, it's like crack an egg to the EQL OS uses to start the controller.  The management software for network, iSCSI and all admin operations are handled by code EQL.   Only HTTP: / Telenet/SSH/ftp are managed by the OS default.

    Re: RCA.  Without complete diagnostic tests, I would say that it is impossible to determine the RCA.  Moreover, newspapers are circular, so longer you wait, the more likely some data will be restored by the newspapers.

    Re: on-site.  No, field technicians are lead in order to replace the failed H/W no triage.

  • Issue of the journal Destination realize in RAC environment

    Hi all

    I would ask you for help because I'm desperate with the following:

    1 see the parameteres gives me:
    db_recovery_file_dest string/orabackup/edges
    Log_archive_dest_1 string LOCATION = USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST ROUVRIR MANDATORY = 300
    log_archive_format string %t_%s_%r.dbf

    2. true place of files that it:
    / orabackup/Edges/Edges/ARCHIVELOG/2011_03_04
    and the file format:
    o1_mf_1_819_6q1mp7w7_.arc

    I'm not able to find where the database reads information on the actual location, as I don't want to have the structure of folders as the edges/BORDERS/archivelog and then a folder for each day

    EM Manager presents the same information as in #1

    Thanks for your help.

    Dali.

    When the archivelog destination is DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST, archivelogs are stored in the Flash (or Fast in GR 11, 2) recovery area. In this case a specific internal naming algorithm is used and log_archive_format is ignored.
    No need to worry that Oracle knows where to find the log files.

    LOCATION = USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST

    A must:

    The following basis for archiving of recovery logs, listed at least recommended options:

    1. enable archiving in the area of fast recovery only and use mirroring of disk to create the redundancy necessary to protect the archived redo logs.

    If DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST is specified and no LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n is specified, then LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_10 is implicitly on the recovery area. You can override this behavior by the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_10 parameter to an empty string.

    2 enable archiving to the quick recovery area, and set the initialization parameter of other LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n located outside the area of quick recovery.

    If an area of fast recovery is set up, you can add the area of quick recovery as a destination of archiving by setting any parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n LOCATION = USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST.

    3 set the initialization LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n don't archive in parts of area of recovery not on PURPOSE.

  • How to move from Data Guard time really apply (restore) to archive the journal

    Hello

    Standby database configured with broker and application really remake in time; However, I want to change it to archive the journal apply mode without losing the broker configuration. Is this possible? If it is not possible to use the broker to make archive log apply, I can remove the broker and use Data Guard to set up the day before to use the archive log apply?

    Concerning

    Hello;

    Broker automatically allows real-time applies to databases on hold if the standby database has standby redo logs configured.

    Stop repeat applies

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-OFF';

    Repeat restart applies broker

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-ON';

    In order to get rid of standby redo logs would be a way. I would like to leave myself alone. Real time assistance to prevent the loss of data.

  • Path of the journal Archive

    Hi all
    I am trying to automate an archive restore the logs, but I'm getting confused with the path.
    I put the path of the newspaper archive in sql as C:\JFBBackup more
    SQL> archive log list;

    It creates a unique file for each sequence.

    Now RMAN shows a different path as a single file: C:\APP\ADMINISTRATOR\PRODUCT\11.1.0\DB_1\DATABASE\20LIO9RS_1_1

    Question:

    I put "db_recovery_file_dest" and I can see the files of archive log go to the flash_recovery_area.
    But what I'm confused is, at the same time a second pair of Archive Log file goes to my $ORACLE_HOME/dbs location. I have not defined any log_archive_dest or more.

    Why do I have two sets of files to archive log (one will Flash_Recovery_area and the other $ORACLE_HOME/dbs)?

    Lily

    In 11.1.0.6 log_archive_dest_1 wrote in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/default, and log_archive_dest_10 wrote to default db_recovery_file_dest. You can watch v$ archive_dest to see where things are actually be written.

    You can change the FRA log_archive_dest_1:

    alter system set log_archive_dest_1='location=USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST' scope=both;

    I think that it is in fact a bug, but I don't have a practical number.

    My husband has an account with the online edition of the journal of Detroit (his user name). The contact person at the newspaper said that the problem is on our computer. The problem started last week. The only thing that I can remember recently do to affect any change is a scan of ParetoLogic.

    2. you receive an error message?

    Since the issue you are facing is with account information to connect to the online edition of the journal. So, you may need to contact them for assistance.

  • Repeat the process of archiving for MAX PERFORMANCE in 11g

    Hello Evertyone,

    Redo the archiving process: LGWR and ARCH (MAX PERFORMANCE)

    Network Transmission mode: SYNC If you are using ARCH process

    Oracle Data Guard 11 GR 2 Administration Guide beginner by Emre Baransel

    -I see this summary: transport ARCH is not recommended because it offers no advantage.

    What advantage LGWR provides rather than the ARK in MODE PERFORMANCE MAX?

    In which clearly defined doc information?

    Hello

    1. the Oracle 10 g documentation link you have provided that it be said that (it would be even other oracle docs)

    Allows maximum performance mode you either set the LGWR and ASYNC attributes or set the ARCH attribute on the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_ n parameter for the standby database.

    2.i hope you know the difference between the role of process LGWR and ARCH from the perspective of the database

    3 by default, redo transport services use some ARCn process to archive log files to redo online on the primary database. Archiving ARCn processing supports only the protection of the level of maximum data performance in Data Guard configurations

    Check-in occurs when a log switch occurs on the primary database:

    • On the primary database, after the ARC0 process archives successfully redo online newspaper the local destination ( LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 ), the ARC1 process transmits redo leave log files local archived redo (rather than the online redo logs files) to the remote standby destination ( LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 ).

    By coming to the LGWR

    You can possibly afford to restore transport services using process LGWR for transmitting data to roll forward to distant destinations.

    Using the LGWR process differs from the ARCn processing (described on the point 5.3.1), because rather than wait for online redo log to the primary database and then written archived all again to connect to the destination remote all at once, the process LGWR selects a log file waiting for Redo on the standby site that reflects the sequence of journal number (and size) of the current log file recovery online primary database.

    Then, again being generated at the primary database, it is also transmitted to the remote destination. Transmission to the remote destination will be either synchronous or asynchronous, depending on whether the SYNC or the ASYNC attribute is set on the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_ n parameter. Synchronous LGWR treatment is necessary for maximum protection and maximum availability of data protection patterns in Data Guard configurations

    4. it is not on the recommendation, its option to use - its role and how it works with over role, you understand. Oracle never says it's bad or wrong (you decide)

  • Size of the huge log archive

    I have 5 redo log files. Each is 4 GB. There are huge transactions (1800-2000 per second). So we have every hour 5-6 journal of the switches. So all the hours of archives journal 20 to 24 GB and daily increase in size, the size 480 GB.

    I had planned to take an incremental backup of level 1 and level 0 per week daily with the option delete log archiving 'sysdate-1 '.

    But we have little storage if, it is impossible to the sphere 480 GB per day and take backup of these 480 GB for 7 days (480 * 7) GB = 4 TB. How can I correct this situation? Help, please.

    1 disk is cheap
    2 the onus on those who "Advanced" application
    3 you can use Log Miner to check what is happening.

    You need to this address with application developers and/or clients and/or buy the disc.

    Unless you're 'home sharing', which he does not seem like you are, two libraries (macbook and iMac) are distinct, so a change does not affect the other.  Best way to test would be to remove a few songs you can download easily and see if it changes.  But I don't think it will be a problem.
