Item that this shortcut refers has been changed or moved

Can I install a game on my other laptop and even though it has all the icons it will give an error when I try to play "item that this shortcut refers has been changed or moved" when I know that it is not.  I am at a loss to know why. There was no upgrade or what it's done for her.  I have laptop and games and programs work very good about it.

Hi gearbrain,

It's happening to all the applications installed on your computer?

You can try again to create a shortcut and check if it works.

This problem occurs because of a Microsoft Windows function that does not structure memory shortened correctly if the shortcut (.lnk file) has a goal less of 14 characters.

To work around this problem, set the shortcut read-only. To do this, follow these steps:
1. right click on the shortcut and then click Properties.
2. click on the general tab.
3. Click to select the read-only check box, and then click OK.
Check whether the problem is resolved.

You can try to create the new user account by following the instructions in the link below and check if it works.

Please post back and let us know if it helped to solve your problem.

    Hello

I am very interested in the precise scope of the 'to pretty much all of the icons'. At the same time: it sounds like a malware infection. Install and run Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx and Malwarebytes anti-malware http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php. If it still does not help, try ESET online virusscanner http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner.

  • missing shortcuts = designates refers to has been changed or moved

After you have uninstalled a few eternal programs such as games and stuff from my computer and restart, most of the shortcuts icons photo Moose were replaced with General icons. When I try to open a place he says 'Point that this shortcut refers has been changed or moved.

So, I tried to go to properties on all the shortcuts, but I couldn't access the general tab it says "the name specified in the target box is not valid."

When I try to open one of the shortcuts, like Microsoft Works, directly throguh "all programs" or the actual file it says "Windows is MSWorks.exe, seeking to locate the file yourself, click Browse." When I find the file and try to open it, it just keeps saying the same thing.

I also tried a system restore to the date preceding I uninstalled programs, but when I tried, I got an error message that says system restore failed and now when I try to restore this date no longer exists.

    Thanks for any help!

You mean reinstall the OS completely? If you have Vista DVD you can do however make sure to
totally your data off the drive of backup, and you need to reinstall your programs. If you do not

Then you can make a complete new installation - just select the format options that erases the entire disc (this

Some system manufacturers use Partitions recovery and other methods to allow you to go back to a

    - and it's certainly doable - just a question of the process the manufacturer of the system set in place to

  • The item this shortcut referred to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut no longer works correctly.

I created a folder on my desktop and files of the copied image on my SD card in the folder newly created on my desktop. This issue has apparently disappeared without a trace as I used it and I can not find anywhere on my laptop.  I do not at any time to delete this file.  It was in the trash, simply disappeared.  I am in desperate need of their return.  Can someone help me find my missing folder?

This message means that you has not actually copied the file to the SD card, but you rather than a shortcut for it.  So it only works when the SD card is connected.  If the SD card is removed, you will get this message.

I am trying to do my first synchronization, but the progress bar on the tab that opens does not move. I've left all night and still no change. When I click Synchronize now, a message appears indicating that I am using the wrong recovery key. I tried to use the same key and generating a new several times without success.

I understood the question, FIPS prevented synchronization. Unfortunately, the error logs were not too useful, there are constant references to errors in connection with error.login.reason.recoverykey and no traceback.

Anyway, once FIPS is off sync started working. This level of encryption is probably overkill for standard web browsing in any case.

I sometimes get a message that "image disk copy has been changed because the file has been modified, opened or saved. The OS 10.6.6 and I use CS5. It happens on any specific file. All my files are big enough. The current that what happens on is a body which is 3.26 G not flattened. I have the ignorance has always ignored the message and saved anyway. I never detected damage or noticeable changes in the files after ignoring the warning, but after looking for Adobe forum and read a thread on what is happening in CS4, I guess I should be more careful and do a save as and change the name of the file. I started this thread because no one reported the issue happening in CS5.

The files have been all given to me by ftp as psd, tiff or raw camera files.  I work on the copies of the originals in no other program but photoshop and open and closed files several times before getting the message about disk being edited copy. All my files are saved on a hard drive internal and backed up to a time capsule device. I am on a network, but I'm the only user of the network. The files are worked and saved on an internal hard drive on the same computer. They are never open on another computer which is usually disabled. I don't use any antivirus software except what is native to the operating system. The only other applications that I am running when this message are safari, mail and sometimes fill.

Why I get this message and what is causing changes (which I can't find) to disk copy?

The message means what it says: something outside of Photoshop changed your file on disk since the time that Photoshop saved the file.

We do not know what might change them - just the operating system returns a different modification to the file date that applied when Photoshop saved the file.
