  I also tried a system restore to the date preceding I uninstalled programs, but when I tried, I got an error message that says system restore failed and now when I try to restore this date no longer exists.

I don't use any antivirus software except what is native to the operating system. The only other applications that I am running when this message are safari, mail and sometimes fill.
