Items related to work plans

How can I create common elements through plans of work such as headers and footers? I was wondering if there was an option, so if you update one header it would update other which were related?

Use file > bound Place in the bar of menus, then place it as usual. When you double-click an object in the layers Panel icon (it looks like a small chain), the object opens in the application its associated with Edition. When you save the change, it should update automatically in the open document. (And all documents closed with this same linked object will ask questions about updates and confirm them in the layers panel when you open them. "They will have an icon of attention to the icon for the linked object.)

    Illustrator doesn't really have an option of 'master work plan. "

    If you are looking for the possibility of having identical articles on several work plans, simply create the first item on a work plan. Drag it to the symbols Panel. Then choose the command Edition > cut followed by Edit > paste on all working plans.

    The Paste command puts the item in the same position on all working plans. If you must then modify the object later, just edit the symbol and all instances on all work plans will be updated as well.

  • Layer Palette list jumping around on DSP with multiple work plans

    Just upgraded to Photoshop CC2015, and I'm doing a work of mobile design - work plans are perfect for this kind of work, so I decided to take advantage of the new functionality of the artboard. Now, a lot of actions that update of content in the palette layers (duplicate elements, for example), force the selected item to be concentrated in the top of the layers palette. This means that my layers are constantly scrolling themselves around and making it physically exhausting to use Photoshop. I'm on a retina screen 27 "(5K iMac)." Not only did I get distracted by the pallet to move, I have to also remember where I was still in the palette (layers are named, but I have 26 work plans, so it's a lot.), then scroll around to get there.

    Also, when I delete the layer, the palette groups of select and focus parent of the deleted group at the top of the list. In this case, let's say I duplicated only accidentally an item (and then removed), then I have to realize I've been teleported elsewhere and find my way back.

    I know the new behavior of items being placed in groups now sitting at the top instead of the bottom of the group - is not that, but maybe a bug related to this new behavior?

    This issue does not appear to occur in PSD who did no work plans.

    Hi Zack,

    There is bug here that is being developed at the present time in development.

    When you choose the command duplicate the layer (or group of two copies) and the layer is a work plan, it is moved to the top of the layer stack and then re-nested in the above work plan that can hold the layer. When nested in a work plan, the layer is placed on top of the stack in the artboard. Most of the time, it seems just the layer gets duplicated upward from the current artboard, but in some cases, as you have discovered, it can actually go to another plan of work.

    Of course, this is problematic.

    The workaround for now is option and drag the layers in the layers palette to explicitly in the order of desired layer stack.

    In addition, there are a number of other behaviors that you describe in this thread that I think can also be problematic, but he'll have to look more carefully. Thanks for the information and please let us know if you see anything that affects your workflow with work plans.

  • Why do my work order plan getting all messed up when I try to add new work plans?

    Mac, HAVE CC

    If I create an icon for fine UX library. I have, say, 20 icons on 20 separate work plans. I have the following configuration: 4 lines and 5 columns. Create mu icons, name each work plan to export properly, and all is well.

    But when I come back to this document and try to add work plans, they add no way to 5 x 4.

    Very strangely, they are added in random places.

    Then I try again to "Reorganize the work plans", and they are willing, but once again, in a random order. My names are so disconnected from the previous relevant work plans.

    It's so frustrating. Is there something I'm missing, if it please or do not know, to add better control?

    Thank you very much!!!

    I think everyone goes through a similar confusion with work plans, but once to slow down and realize some items, they begin to work as

    1. Look at your work plan and that one is highlighted it's the artboard select
    2. You can easily unwittingly switch to another plan of work, by simply selecting another time with the selection tool. "Here, I've selected an item on the 4th game of darts and now the ' Live from the corners" artbaord is selected.
    3. When you use the new work plan command that adds a new after the selected work plan, some people waiting to be added as the last page.
    4. There are some bugs like when you run out of space on the right. I have the last elected artboard, but try to add a new work plan gives me an error because the top row is out of room who shovel have nothing to do with it.

    In summary

    • Name your work plans that you can easily get confused, that it is worth
    • Use reorganize artbaords often
    • Reorganize work plans does not care the physical position on the screen of the work plan, it transposes numbers (1 to 11 in my example above)
    • If you want to copy of artboard on the artboard 2 1. Copy the artboard 1 form, select any element of the artbord 2 and use the paste in front or to the rear. You can also use the work plans Panel to select your target artbaord.
  • Loop and remove the work plans

    Need help.  Try to loop through work plans and delete if isn't a specific name.  When you try to delete, it gives me an illegal argument.  I must be missing something.  Help would be appreciated.

    IDoc var = app.activeDocument;

    var idoc.artboards = artbs;

    var artbcount = artbs.length;

    var artbsNames = [];

    for (var i = 0; i < artbcount; i ++) {}

    artbsNames = artbs [i] .name;

    var artboardSelected = idoc.artboards [i];

    artboardSelected = artbsNames;

    If (artboardSelected == ['special work plan']) {}

    Alert ("this is not special");

    }

    else {}

    ARTBS. Remove();

    }

    }

    Hi jeremy0013

    Why so complicated? As Silly-V says: If you want to remove an item from your loop you loop back always.

    And a simple clause should be sufficient:

    var idoc = app.activeDocument;
    var artbs = idoc.artboards;
    for (var i = artbs.length-1 ; i >= 0; i--) {
        if (artbs[i].name != "Special Artboard") {
            artbs[i].remove();
        }
    }

    Does this work for you?

  • Work plans: selection of the artboard and unlock automatic disabling shapes in the work plans - possible?

    Hello

    I easily through the General work plan, and I saw immediately, so I thought I'd put it out there. Here are my two questions:

    1. is there a way to disable the ability to move a work plan while working in it? Essentially, to block the plan in place, but not the items it contains? If you use the automatic selection and slightly approach the edge of the plateau, then swipes the entire Board rather than just a few layers / items you want.

    2 is there a way to auto unlock all layers, including forms? It can be really frustrating for fish through the layers to find the form locked in order to remove a work plan. Command + / has not worked for me when I closed a single object manually.

    Thank you very much! I hope that these are not repeated questions.

    1. Yes. Use 'Position Lock' on the layer of the artboard properly said.

    2. Yes. Select the parent group or the artboard. While holding down the alt/option key, choose "Lock all layers in artboard...» "in the drop-down menu Layers Palette.

    This should unlock all layers inside this group or the artboard.

    (Probably, the fact that the menu does not change when you hold down the alt key is a bug, but it does not)

  • Why the my canvas size is bigger than my work plan?

    Hello

    I'm working on a larger project, where I have mulitple PSDs linked in a single document. The individual DSP that have all plans of work that are the same size, but in inspection of the size of the canvas on these documents vary considerably in size.

    This causes me some discomfort because:

    -When you place the PSD files in the main document, the bounding box of the PSD is much larger than the graphics I want to place.

    -Second, if I want to resize the size of the canvas on the current related DSP, I am trying, it shrinks the chart down much more that what I would actually. This causes me to have to change the size of each graphical element, which sometimes can be quite tedious.

    In my view, that the size of the canvas should be able to resize the artboard size I'm working on, if only when I have a single work plan I'm working on (which is currently the case).

    Is there a way to adjust PS for the canvas size will correspond to the size of the artboard? Whereas if I adjust the length of the arboard, the size of the canvas reflects the change in size?

    Thank you.

    Unfortunately, it is still an open question in our backlog of work.

    The following workaround solution is clumsy, but should work:

    1. choose the tool work plan.

    2 Unger, the gear icon, deselect auto size canvas. This setting affects only the current document.

    3. adjust the size of your canvas as needed using the Image-> canvas size command. It will remain at that size until you change it again manually.

    Work plan documents do not show the extent of the Web, but there are ways to see: layers of filling (with disabled auto-nid) under all work plans, for example.

  • You can lock overview of a particular document or a work plan?

    Currently, it doesn't seem to be able to select the source document preview in Photoshop. Is there a secret setting I miss or is it something that is planned for future versions? Or maybe just the option to disable it for certain documents?

    I'm widely using smart objects and related objects and switch between them at all times makes overview less useful I initially hoped.

    UseCase: I have a main preview file with several plans of work that uses active links to external files of masters where I do my art production.

    Currently:

    Work in my preview document with work plans works perfectly. But...

    Whenever I go to a large file of production (6000 x 4000 + px psd), photoshop passes the source noticed my active document, triggering a raster/transform who takes several seconds to resolve before I can do anything. So any change I make to this file retriggers, causing another blockade progress bar.

    The only way to work in the production size files is to unplug an excerpt entirely until I want to see in the other document. Is not ideal.

    In addition, I can't work in a smart object or a linked file and see it update the preview of a file on my device. I still have to make the outline of the my document folder to see it on the device.

    Ideally:

    I can clarify my overview document that is open that document 'source' or 'Preview' in the Preview Panel. In this way, I can work independently on the communicating objects and see that it updated on the device without it blowing updates constantly and who need to break my permutation between active windows workflow.

    If anyone has a solution or a solution that does not involve a new CC version, I'm all ears!

    Hey, Max,.

    Currently, overview of the unit will only preview active document via Photoshop.  Unfortunately, there is not a way to specify another non-active document in Photoshop to get an overview.  Very good suggestion for further consideration if.

    A quick observation, shouldn't you be blocked to continue to make changes in Photoshop, you switch between open documents.  Even if the Preview on the device has not yet caught up to your current changes, you should be able to continue to work on your documents in Photoshop.  The Preview on the device should eventually catch up with your latest changes in your current document.

  • Layer mask groups converted from work plans to the size of the artboard in older versions of Photoshop

    I wanted to start this post as an idea, but I couldn't choose communities (it wouldn't let me), so here it is posted...

    ----

    Just came across this with a customer...

    I use for a mobile design project work plans, and I just got a screenshot with some texts asking why among work plans were really great. Way bigger than a phone. (I'm under NDA and cannot post the screenshot, but imagine there are a lot of iPhone size work plans and two of them seem to be at a right angle)

    I opened the file and on my end, everything is the right size. Remembering the weeks ago to tell the customer that they need to update their version of Photoshop for all this work correctly, I have take a look at the screenshot and see that they are on CC2014 - none of the work plans.

    What I'm asking here, is that, since we have data, plans of work are objects of a defined size and 'alive', why not just use these data to hide layer groups at the opening of the PSD / PSB (PSB in my case) in older versions of Photoshop?

    It could save you a TON of hassle and confusion.

    Hi Zack,

    High level to your query response is: no, there is no conduct business case for a general solution to what you are suggesting. So I don't see what is happening.

    I say that as someone who likes to give back and forth and backward compatibility.

    There are two parts of the problem that you raise. They are related and somewhat intertwined.

    1. Having the version previous (2014) do something reasonable with the data from the version the most recent (2015). Either the old version should be taught on the most recent data so it can make a decision about what to do, or the newer version must put additional data in the file format for consumption by the older version.
    2. Back and forth between versions. As you say, a much more difficult problem. In fact, we do a good job of that today. But we must be sure that whatever we do for (1) not to damage and back the wrong way.

    Let's be very clear: 2014 will not be touched, except for critical bugs, absolutely. And even before 2015 is released, it would have not been corrected to make it behave better with work plans. There is no way that I could see what is happening. So all we have done for better backward compatibility had to be entirely done within 2015.

    For the round trip, the general problem is something like this: we want to 2014 to read an object that has properties of 2015, he does not understand. While we might learn ch to keep these properties as opaque property, must also have rules for when these properties are not valid and thrown on the floor. Probably, if the object is changed. But not always. And sometimes when another object parent is changed. And so on. Right now, we destroy them unknown content from their reading in the old version. Make us and record what we understand. As a user, you receive an alert telling you that we are do this. It's the safest thing to do.

    There are special cases where a developer can see an opportunity to preserve a level of backward compatibility and back and forth. We try to do if we believe that it is safe. But this scenario happens only occasionally.

    In the case of work plans, made us really think about this: If we added a mask to the group for backward compatibility, it should do something with this mask reading around 2015. And what would happen if the user edited this mask in 2014 and opened upward in 2015 - and who edited mask do not align with the structures of the artboard? Things started to get dark quickly. We started to see traps. The workflow together to sheath special round trip had to be tested and verified. The cost was rising and this expense must be filtered through a cost/value trade-off. And then what happens when we add a new property to the structure of work plan? At these efforts for nothing?

    So we compromised with what you have today. Work plans become groups in 2014. The Group and the layer structure remains intact. Doesn't secretly add us and remove masks for the round trip. You can safely change the groups to your heart's content. When return you this document in 2015, you redo the work plans of the groups. Was not clear and safe way to do more than that given the time that we had.

    Take a step back and think about your problem, it doesn't seem to be a value to a script that converts group work plans + layer masks for your workflow to have your documents that is consumed by the customers of 2014. This would be carried out in 2015 because she would need understand the work plans. And maybe vice versa from 2014 to 2015, assuming that the documents were not published in a hostile way. We're not likely to write such a script as a generic tool, but someone competent with script might be able to do this.

    More that I intend to write, but hopefully, it gives you additional insight in the compromises that we have faced.

  • JavaScript is able to export a jpg file-specific work plans?

    Can I export a single to a jpg graphic board using the GUI, but "artboardRange" does nothing for export to a jpg file.

    I can use the artboardRange in the pdf file in options and that works very well but, while the selection of the artboard is there in the export jpg dialog box in the windows gui I can't get this to work in javascript.

    I'm going to have to copy my content in a separate document containing only what I want and then export that?

    I tried to change the visibility of the items that I didn't have on the jpg but leaving just an empty area in the jpg resulting even with 'artboardClipping' = true. In fact, I don't know that this artboardclipping even does nothing of what I tried.

    Any suggestions or is this all just not work in JavaScript with CS4?

    Edit:

    If I export to a jpg file and use work plans and a separate jpg is scheduled for each work plan included with a prefix of the artboard # in the name, i.e. filename - 01.jpg and filename - 02.jpg. It would be awesome if I could this script properly.

    Hi all

My problem is when I draw a rectangle equal to the artboard, place it on its own in the upper layer, unlock and show all forms (there is no open path) and select all the items, the results do not give me a good vector to be cropped. For some reason, it removes items from the artboard

    The reason depends specifically on the manner in which your paths are drawn.

    You should be able to do this:

    1. place a horizontal guide at the bottom of the artboard.

    2 knife tool: Position cursor outboard of the artboard. Press Alt. Mousedown (alignment of the guide). ShiftDrag to the right at the bottom of the work.

    However, this assumes behavior reliable and accurate Snap on tool set, which is not Illustrator.

    To avoid all the warnings of illustrators Boolean path very badly implemented combination offers (the so-called Scouts):

    1 rectangle tool. Draw a rectangle on the artboard outboard, alignment of the upper part of it to the bottom of the artboard.

    2 copy.

    3 ShiftClick one of the paths that you want to cut out.

    4. click on the "punch" (subtract) Pathfinder (assuming that the CS5 or CS4; altClick the same Pathfinder in CS3 and earlier versions.)

    5 paste in front. Repeat steps 3 & 4.

    I can't find something in the DOM as artboards.add ().

    Hi jakec88782761,

    are what version of picture you?

    Working with work plans is possible since CS4 +.

    Here's a simple example in [JS]

    var AB_1 = activeDocument.artboards.add([0,50,200,0]);
    AB_1.name = 'first quadrant';
    var AB_2 = activeDocument.artboards.add([-200,50,0,0]);
    AB_2.name = 'second quadrant';
    var AB_3 = activeDocument.artboards.add([-200,0,0,-50]);
    AB_3.name = 'third quadrant';
    var AB_4 = activeDocument.artboards.add([0,0,200,-50]);
    AB_4.name = 'fourth quadrant';

  • Problems with the edition of work plans

    I did not have a good experience. I can't even change my plans of work, they get stuck off the coast to the right or left and I can't scroll right or left to get them to a place where I can zoom in on the map of the art of making changes. The screen of UI zooms only the Board of the art that is visible on the screen at the same time. Also when adding graphics to images or work plans I can't select them at all.

    You should be able to use two fingers on the touchpad to the panorama of the view in XD, similar to how you would scroll/pan in other applications on your Mac.  Please let us know if this doesn't work for you.
