Itunes and Windows 7 update problems

Well, I have a question for all of you who are technically gifted with computers.

About two years my automatic updates for Windows 7 (64-bit SP1) has stopped working. Whenever I shut the computer down it would try to fail to install 40 of updates. I contacted Microsoft Tech that had me working with a level one and level 2 tech with no luck. In the end, I made the decision (finally not wise) just turn off updates.

Fast forward to today. I tried to buy something from iTunes, but because my current iTunes was so far out of date (I rarely bother the upgrade whenever he asks) it did not work. No problem, I just downloaded the upgrade. Anyway, the installation failed, and now my iTunes does not... After digging a bit it seems that it's because Windows has not been updated in so long. As concise as possible here is what I tried so far;

1. When iTunes was not installed it is because of the Apple Application do not install it. Everything else seems to be loaded to the right computer. So I extracted the installation individually with WinRar files and tried to install just the Apple Application (64 bit) only. But this does not work, when installing, I get the message;

An error occurred during the installation of assembly ' policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT, type = 'win32-policy', version = '8.0.50727.6195", publicKeyToken ="1fc8b3b9a1e8e3b", processorArchitecture ="amd64 ". See Help and support for more information. EDH...

It is at this time that I read online that people with my problem followed it back to the question of the Windows updates;

2. I ran a scan disk error checking, run a total of three times, once to automatically challenge errors, then back to search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, and then a third time on the two while in safe mode. No luck. When I try and update Windows manually screen just sits there with the Green infinite loading bar.

3. I ran sfc/scannow in cmd in normal and safe mode, once again, no change.

4. I tried to install the Windows Update Standalone (I guess reinstalling the actual update of the program, rises like fix for Windows KB947821) it just sits there once the installation starts and will not be finished.

5. I tried to clear the cache for the update, enter services, stopping the Background Intelligence Transfer Service and update of Windows and then delete all the files in the update, this at least reset the updater, then when I tried to download the updates again, I got an error (can't remember what it was, but it started with an "eight") and then some so I came back to the Green loading bar of doom...

6. I also tried to run this Reset_Windows_Update_History.bat in a command prompt, but it did nothing.

7. He was also something else that I tried to run in a command prompt to a forum, but that no longer works.

I've probably tried a few other things too... I just want to get my iTunes works again, my laptop is almost eight years old, so I don't have the Windows CD to reinstall it, and I don't want to 'upgrade' to another windows program. Suggestions/alternatives?

Thank you!

Hi Petedln,

It seems that you already do all troubleshooting steps for your concern.

You can also do the following:

  1. Run the System Update Readiness Tool.
  2. Clean boot the computer.

If the problem persists, try to create another user profile, and run Windows update from there.

Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards.

    Greetings Dani56777,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

I understand that you run Windows 10 and you must update iTunes to the latest version so that your iPhone will be recognized when connected. I do not know if you receive an error when you try to update iTunes or not.

If you need information on how to update iTunes, please follow the instructions in the following link.

Download the latest version of iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

If you receive an error or alert, you can consider removing iTunes and all of its associated components and then reinstalling fresh iTunes on your computer. That would give you the latest version of iTunes. If you need execute this process, please follow the steps described in the following article.

Remove iTunes Control Panel and its associated components

Use the control panel to uninstall iTunes and software components in the following order:

    1. iTunes
    2. Apple Software Update
    3. Apple Mobile Device Support
    4. Hello
    5. Apple Application Support 32-bit
    6. Apple Application Support 64-bit

On some systems, iTunes can install two versions of the Apple Application Support. What is expected. If both are present, do not forget to uninstall both versions.

Do these elements in a different order, uninstall or uninstall only some of them. This could have unintended effects. After you uninstall a component, you may be asked to restart your computer. Wait to restart your computer until you finish remove all components.

  • Windows 7 update problem. 0 x 80070057

Recently, I tried to run updates on my PC and it initially had issues where the download would be stuck on 0% and never download anything, if the download would be 100 MB or a 1 bit is important.

I ran the update of Windows Diagnostic Toolkit and constantly got an error/problem with code 0 x 80070057 and now since then I can't even check the updates of windows. When I run the windows update tool from the system setting it'll just "load" at all times and don't get any where...

I am very very frustrated by this issue and would really help if someone else encounter similar issues, or a team em directly since it is a question of bad that I can't even run a check for updates when they are meant to be so important for the safety of my OS...

  • Cannot install iTunes and a few updates on Windows Vista

Original title: the purchase, I was unable to install itunes and some updates on my laptop.

I could not install certain programs esp. itunes says error message my windows installer is running in SafeMode... or does not work properly (I'm not running in safe mode).  and some windows more major updates such as the profile of microsoft.net framework 4 client for windows vista x 64 bit systems and smaller as live office adds to 1.5 install and let me with 643 and error code 6 B 7.

I was able to install some things that say 'administrator' wil do not allow (whereas I am the administrator, and it's the only profile on my computer) by 'save' and downloaded the installation from the file. but it did not work for the itunes.

I had my laptop to two different computer repair centers and could help.

Try to install and run Windows Installer Cleanup Utility: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml and see if that helps.

Here is an article on how to solve the problems of Vista update: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-problems-with-installing-updates.

When you try to install the program, right click on the system icon and click on run as administrator and see if that makes a difference (sometimes it does).

For problems of iTunes, visit the iTunes support group at the: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ where they have contact information and access to forums like this one for iTunes.  They will help.

    I hope this helps.

  • Problems with iTunes and Windows 7

When I try to access a song from the library in iTunes, I get the following message "the song 'xxx' could not be used because the original file cannot be found. You want to locate? "Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

It also is an exclamation in the far left column in the iTunes library.

This can happen if you have NOT the "copy files in my itunes media folder when adding to my library itunes." selected, and you have a network drive mounted where you have added files. If you launch iTunes and the same drive is not mounted, iTunes think that files are missing.

The same is true for any situation where the path to your media files: either mount you a network drive in the 'shared media folder"and change the share name"Press Kit "... This happens with local directories as well if you leave not iTunes manage your media files (which you should NEVER do) and you do not copy the files of your iTunes media folder. Changing the location of your media or any what part of the path to these files gives you this error.

This can also happen if you have completed the transfer of songs to your iTunes media folder - even if iTunes displays the files in your media list. I added about 200 discs in my iTunes library (which I had managed for years with full ID3v2 v1 EPAS, and Custom embedded in each file tagging support). When my computer restarted because Microsoft updates installed automatically (although I had that option enabled OFF...), I lost access to all files that they appear in my library. Try to add the duplicate error message gives me.

    iTunes is the worst.

My only solution is to delete all files with the. and restart Windows. Start itunes and then log out of your account. Reconnect to your iTunes account and add the files of 'missing' again. If you do not use iTunes, you may use a more robust solution like helium... by far my favorite.

Good luck with your multimedia library. Best wishes

  • ITunes and Windows 10 new facility

Built it there a years of PC and until this new 10 Windows Installer, there everything worked beautifully - then I started to reinstall iTunes.

    Specifications: Intel i5 - 4690 k (quad core) @3.50 GHz

    8.00 GB of Ram

    GPU GTX 770

    Z97X Gaming 7 MoBo

I meet the minimum requirements, I would say. The first error message (in its entirety) is as follows:
    An error occurred during the installation of assembly ' Microsoft.VC80.CRT, type = "win32", version = "8.050727.6195", publicKeyToken = "1fc8b3 b9a18e3b", processorArchitecture = amd64". See Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0 X 80073715.

Then, I hit the only available button (OK), the Setup program and then "Rolling Back Action" and continues. After a few seconds, it stops with an error message:
Service "Apple Mobile Device Service"(Apple Mobile Device Service) was able to start. ". Make sure you have sufficient privileges to start system services. Strange, never had this before, hoping that it is only because of the first question. I hit give up at this time, do not help the other options.

I'm caught up on my windows updates, I promise you, and the only program that gives me problems is iTunes and Apple that comes with it. I got an iPod generation 1 for an extremely long time and wouldn't try something else. Help, please.

The message "an error occurred during the installation of assembly ' Microsoft.VC80.CRT, type ="win32", version ="8.0.50727.6195", publicKeyToken ="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitecture is...» "may occur because a particular library file is not included in the supplied with iTunes distribution package or will not be installed because some unspecified reason. Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC security update before you attempt to reinstall iTunes can help.

  • iTunes and Windows 10

I can't use, to upgrade, install, repair, or uninstall since upgrading my PC for Windows 10.  I've tried everything recommended here, Apple. Microsoft referred me to Apple. I tried to remove all Apple products that works with the exception of iTunes. Even took the .msi on the registry file.

I get the error message says:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

Please enter a different path to the folder containing the installation package 'iTunes6464.msi '.

I have no other way. I have some other ideas to pursue.

    .. .to my end intelligence...

Download the latest version of iTunes and extract the content, such as written here: troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. When you are prompted for the path to the MSI file mentioned, point to the file in the folder of the extracted files.

  • Vista - Windows Live Update problem

I have a problem installing the components of Windows Live Essentials.  I managed to install by email.  Now, I try to add a few other components.  I get a window saying: "We must take care of some things first" - "install Windows Platform Update.  I thought I already did.  In any case, I click on the link 'get Windows Platform Update' and am presented with instructions that tell me to go run "Windows Updates" and view the updates available.  Because I am running Windows Vista, he said I should run "Update platform for Windows Vista (KB971644)".  However, there is no update platform listed at all.

What should I do?  If anyone can offer a suggestion, would you also send me an email with your suggestion (s)? E-mail address is removed from the privacy * thank you very much.

  • Windows XP update problems: need to install before April 8, 2014, updated

I have a new PC Dell Optiplex 330 which have been stored since purchased. It was purchased as spare and never fed until last week. I've updated Internet Explorer to the version of Internet Explorer 8. I installed AVG Antivirus from 2014. Then I connected to Microsoft Windows Update to update the system to include all available updates until April 8, 2014 end support.  As of today, I was not able to install these updates including XP Service Pack 3. Is the Microsoft Windows XP update system completely off, or is the pre-April 8 updates always available?

You will need to update to SP3 to get the updates, I think.

Go here to get SP3, install, and then I hope that you will be able to get the updates from there.

And since you didn't say if your computer has SP2, I included a link for him just in case.

The two links are good for the Microsoft Download Center.

  • 32-bit Windows VISTA update problems

I have a Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) system.

It seems that the automatic updates does NOT work properly. My system has not been verified (automatically) for 5 days now. It was every day.

When I try and ' check for updates ' manually update goes on and so on - for hours and nothing happens.

I installed KB3177725 and it worked for a while - but now I'm back where I started from.

Also, if I reinstall the update again and never check "Search for updates", I must have this here in or setting I can go back to auto check and hope that all of the work.

    Dennis Celeschi

Setting the automatic updates in Windows Vista became one exercise per month. See:

  • new computer and windows disk install problem

I bought a new processor MB ram graphics card components but I left my ssd drive and there is a problem... when I tried to install windows, it told me my MBR disk and must be TPG to install windows... but I don't have windows on my SSD because I did the format of this drive... Pls tell me how I can install windows on this drive.

    Hi Kelly,

This could be due to the fact that the partition may have changed for the hard drive.

I suggest you to connect the hard drive to a working computer and then convert the partition to the disk GUID partition table format.

Follow the steps for a computer of Windows 8:

    (a) save or transfer the data to the MBR basic disk (MBR) record that you want to convert into a disk GUID partition table (GPT). If the disc does not contain any partitions or volumes, go to the next step.

    (b) press the Windows and X key, then select disk management.

    (c) if the disk contains no partitions or volumes, go to the next step. Otherwise, click on all volumes on the disk and then click Delete Partition or Delete the Volume.

    (d) right click on the MBR disk that you want to change into a GPT disk and then click convert to GPT disk.

    Hello

I use the dual operating system Windows Vista and Linux open SUSE distribution on Toshiba Satellite A350-10z, everything works great except Windows Recovery. I have Linux (start: dev / sda6) and Windows Vista (starting: dev / sda2). Windows has 2 partitions, C and D drive, D drive I have folder HDDRecovery. After F8 I using the option of repair and waiting, then massage is displayed "the installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer.

Before I installed Linux recovery worked well. Is there a chance to use the HDDRecovery of Windows Disk D or I have to boot from the recovery DVD?

In my opinion, Linux messed with partitions or the MBR and maybe that is the reason why HARD drive recovery does not seems the DVD recover is your order of ion option to restore the laptop to factory settings.
By the way: I didn't install Linux on my laptop, but I use Linux using the Knoppix Live CD
