ITunes can't find my device

I've just updated to iTunes 12.4 on my mac under OS X 10.11.4 and cannot find my device from iTunes.

The device, I am trying to connect is an iPhone running iOS 9.3.2 6.

I'm doing something wrong or should I go back to an earlier version of iTunes?

iTunes should be able to connect to your iPhone regardless of his version, I'm under 12.4 as well and everything works perfectly. Your USB cable + iPhone connect to iTunes on other computers?

If not, I think that your either your USB connector or your port of lightning can be damaged or dusty.

If Yes, then we are dealing with a problem of software on your Mac (please reply if this is the case).

  • iTunes can usually find cover to import the CD

Nowadays, most of the time when I import a CD (a CD published regularly a standard music label) in iTunes for Windows, iTunes can't find the album art. But Windows Media Player can. Looks like Apple iTunes is faulty (or Apple lost out on a license agreement with a provider of music information). iTunes has been much better to find album artwork. But not now.

I have even upgraded to the latest version of iTunes for Windows offered, v 12.4.2.4 to see if the problem has been resolved, but nothing has changed.

It is problematic that I must have a share entire library of music and the iTunes app to control the library in order to support the 3 players iPod I, when the majority of readers of music I play standard MP3 music and get music in the cloud or sync drag / drop with my PC. And now that my music library has exceeded my iPod nano, it's such a pain to change the music on this device... solution of the Apple store was buy a bigger iPod. No thanks.

Hmm, Apple won't let me post my topic as originally written, I got one you are not allowed to create or update this content error.

And now that my music library has exceeded my iPod nano, it's such a pain to change the music on this device

Almost all the library world is bigger that a Nano will hold.   If you use automatic synchronization, it is very easy to change the music.  Simply use the option "... selected playlists." "(pictured below) to synchronize a subset of your music for the Nano.

  • iTunes can't find my music more

A previous version of iTunes apparently added that the chain of file://localhost/ to the path and now iTunes can't find music more. How can I fix the path for all of my songs without having to change each of them? I already copied the folder back entire iTunes Media from the NAS to a local drive (because I suspect that this is the underlying problem for iTunes) but this does not alter the path information. All the music is now stored on a local disk, but iTunes brand each song with an exclamation point.

The problem of 'missing file' with exclamation points occurs if the file is no longer where iTunes is expected to find. Causes possible is that you or a third-party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parents, or the reader, records it feeds has been a change in the letter of the drive or you have moved a non-portable library to a different path (see make a split cell library for more details). It is also possible that iTunes has changed from waiting for the files in the presentation of pre-iTunes 9 post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice versa, and so looking for a bit in the wrong place.

Select a track with an exclamation point, use Ctrl-I to get information, then click on no when asked to try to locate the runway. Look under the file tab for the location that iTunes thinks that the file should be. Now look around your hard drive. I hope you can locate the track in question. If a part of your library has just been moved, renamed a folder or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse actions. If the difference between the two railroads is an additional music folder in a path, then it is a problem of layout. I can explain more if this is the case. If everything is where it is supposed to be trying to fix the security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

In some cases, iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info, or during playback of a track, but this time, click on search and browse the lost track. Then, it can offer try to automatically correct the other broken links. Although he said something like 'use the same location' I think he expects to find titles in the same provision, artist / album, they were previously, with a systematic change to the path.

If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed files, or the library was moved from OS X to Windows, then chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies it will be difficult to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is pregnant. In this case, as long as the missing files somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script for reconnecting to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works. It may need some adjustments if your media is in a non-standard layout.

If you want me to try to provide specific advice, please post back the following details:

    1. The location of the media under Edition folder > Preferences > advanced
    2. The location of a sample of missing follow indicated under Get Info > file > location that begins file://localhost/
    3. The real path to the file which you gave 2 details

Note the addition of file://localhost/ and the reverse slashes (Windows only) is normal for a file that is not quite where iTunes is expected to find.

  • After restoring my computer and iTunes download, iTunes can not find my my music files.  They have to be in the specific format or a folder iTunes for a recognized?

I had to restore my computer from the ground upward.  I save my music files and then reloaded after the system restore.  Then, I downloaded the latest version of iTunes.  But apparently iTunes can't find my music restored files.  I use a 10 newly installed Windows.  Y at - it a particular format to place the music files should be put in order for iTunes to see.  Or maybe a procedure that I did not follow properly.  Please notify.  Thank you.

If you have registered to the iTunes library database files, launch iTunes with the SHIFT key is pressed and choose this library. If this isn't the case, slide the song files into the application window open iTunes or add it automatically in the iTunes folder.

  • iTunes can't find my music library

iTunes can't find the music files on my hard drive.  I use iTunes 12.3.3 on my iMac with OS X El Capitan 10.11.4.

In iTunes, I can see my purchased music, but none of my synchronized CD.  In Finder/music/iTunes/iTunesMedia/music, all my music is there.  In fact, if I double click on a song, it opens iTunes and play that song.  After that, this song is available through iTunes.

I tried restoring iTunes Library.itl in my time Machine from before the update to iTunes.  I also tried a Finder/music/iTunes/previous iTunes library restaurant.  None worked.

Any ideas are appreciated.  Please provide as much detail as possible; I am not much less this.

    Thank you!

iTunes is none of the files in the media folder, it relies on the file .itl having the correct inventory.  Gong return well enough with the .itl versions should provide you for awhile before iTunes lost references to media files, but of course, it will mean also any changes you have made since then will be forgotten.

  • New hard drive, the same content, but iTunes can´t find my files

    Hey

My previous external harddrive had some problems. I had to send to repair. Of course, I have saved my files to a new hardddrive.

iTunes can't find my songs, even if the files are the same * they were on the last of them. I really spent a lot of time organizing all my music into different playlists, so I would really have appreciate some help with this.

How iTunes to find the location to all my titles?

Thanks in advance for any advice that could help me solve this problem!

You can try to find a track with iTunes and then let iTunes find others when he offers.

You can make sure that the name of the drive is exactly the same as that of the old, and structure of entire folders to iTunes from the top down is identical.

It happened because you're using a shared library.

  • iTunes can't find my music - it's looking on my mac as opposed to clouds

I use iTunes game and recently subscribed to Apple music and removed my library of music from my Mac (yes I saved on multiple devices). I was prompted to save my music on the cloud used by Apple music. After doing this itunes on my mac can't find my music, an exclamation appeared next to all my songs. When I double-click a song itunes asked me if I would like to locate on my mac, after clicking 'Cancel' the track starts to play.

ITunes clearly looking in the wrong place for my music.

Please suggest how to solve this problem

    Hello

This a trick to Match iTunes user do and keep a backup of your iTunes library, and only broadcast from the cloud.

This applies also to the Apple's music. To solve your current problem, close iTunes, reopen the option key and select Create new library. Connect to iTunes, Apple music and iCloud library is checked in the preferences. You will see all the music that is in the cloud.

  • I consolidated my files and now iTunes can't find almost 200 songs in my library

For a long time I have been adding new songs, I have download in a folder and then add the songs in the library iTunes via file-> add a file to the library and pointing to each new song. Last week, in order to make a backup of all my songs, in accordance with the recommendation of Apple, I gathered all my files in this folder (where there were songs in other folders I don't remember). However, even if the option "keep iTunes media folder organized (up files in folders of album and artist)" was NOT checked, it is exactly what makes iTunes: it began to place my files lost in the artist/album folders it consolidated.

I cancelled the process when I realized what iTunes did, which would result in all hope, but that has not happened. Now, 250 on 2660 songs, I had have NOT been organized to artist/album folders (probably because I cancelled the process before they could be organized) are always in the song 'root' folder: http://prntscr.com/bvrvqt

About 180 of those who have a "!" icon in my library stating iTunes cannot find the specified file: http://prntscr.com/bvrpl0

When I double-click on one of them, iTunes asks me to manually point to the file, and when I do, it asks me to find the rest of the "!" from the songs I did. The problem is, although all the others '! ' songs are also in the folder 'root', iTunes simply cannot find an any of them on its own! Frustrating. If I add the missing files via file-> add files to the library, iTunes will create an entry duplicated them on the list, as if they were different files.

No idea how I can return this mess and make iTunes to find the missing pieces? The only thing I can think to use SharePod program to save all the songs from my iPod to a new folder and Redo from scratch iTunes library from there, but then I would lose how my songs are displayed in the library (most recently added first), as all files would be added now at roughly the same time. I rather would not lose it.

    I use iTunes 12.3.1.

    Thank you very much!

I suspect that iTunes has updated some of its references to point to the new locations that it would have copied files if you had not interrupted the process. See Re: files change media for advice on fixing systematically broken links. See make a split cell library for more information on the ideal organization to an iTunes library. Consolidation of copies any file outside the currently designated in the media folder and update iTunes so that it uses the new copy thereafter. Consolidated files are copied into the presentation standard of the artist and album folders that are also used for what it is torn, converted or downloaded with iTunes.
