IviScope vs niScope hierarchy

I use LabWindows/CVI to add specific calls to instrument existing at an IviScope driver wrapper.  I use a NO-scope (specifically a PXI 5114).  Up til now all calls have been to IviScope_ functions and all attributes used (get/set) were inherent attributes (IVISCOPE_ * defined in iviScope.h).

I now need to add an attribute specific to the instrument using (or is it an attribute defined by class?).  Specifically, I need NISCOPE_ATTR_MEAS_OTHER_CHANNEL, which must be set before the use of the specific call of the instrument to niScope_AddWaveformProcessing value.

I'm confused about the hierarchy of IVI - C class driver calls vs instrument driver specific calls.  Is it true that all calls to the functions IviScope_ are "converted" to instrument specific calls in the engine of the IVI (via the Configuration of the IVI store)?  If there is a recall for a specific attribute of the intrument will still be executed if I call IviScope_Set...?

Here are the specific example, but I would like to answer widespread in all cases if possible.

Given that NISCOPE_ATTR_MEAS_OTHER_CHANNEL is defined as a compensation of IVI_SPECIFIC_PUBLIC_ATTR_BASE,

This call is legal:

IviScope_SetAttributeViString (session, "0", NISCOPE_ATTR_MEAS_OTHER_CHANNEL, "1");

and functionally equivalent to:

niScope_SetAttributeViString (cHandleSession, "0", NISCOPE_ATTR_MEAS_OTHER_CHANNEL, "1");

That said, if there is a defined calllback for NISCOPE_ATTR_MEAS_OTHER_CHANNEL that makes something more as defined a specific memory location (and would be executed if niScope_SetAttributeViString is called), will run this recall if I set the attribute via IviScope_SetAttributeViString?

More generally, can I use function calls IviScope_ to set the 'elements' are defined (in niScope.h) in terms of compensation to the IVI Foundation (IVI_SPECIFIC_PUBLIC_ATTR_BASE, IVISCOPE_VAL_TRIGGER_TYPE_SPECIFIC_EXT_BASE, IVISCOPE_VAL_TRIGGER_COUPLING_SPECIFIC_EXT_BASE, IVISCOPE_VAL_ACQUISITION_TYPE_SPECIFIC_EXT_BASE, IVISCOPE_VAL_MEASUREMENT_FUNCTION_SPECIFIC_EXT_BASE, etc.)?

All of the examples I see online on the use of the IVI drivers, videos for DMM examples, show the use of the specific instrument to function calls, no calls from IviDMM_.  This seems misleading and confusing.  I've not seen anything that addresses the use of IVI drivers at this level.

Thank you for your consideration.

  • I can isolate a bookmark with the filter, but how 'find' a bookmark in the hierarchy of the ShowAllBookmarks window?

    I want to find a bookmark to its location in the hierarchy of bookmarks, but all I can do with the filter is isolate a bookmark [s]; or by using the filter bar bookmarks, or in the ShowAllBookmarks window. For example, I know I have bookmarked some, but I want to move it into a new "folder" and rename it, perhaps; for this I need to be able to * see * in the hierarchy, as in the Mac Finder, when the filter turns into a file, and then "Show Original" to "Open the enclosing folder."

  • Where is bookmarked in my favorites folder hierarchy?

    I have a comprehensive set of bookmarks, organized into a hierarchy of nested folders. Sometimes the bookmark I want is not where I expect to be. I can find it easily by using the search engine to organize bookmarks and I can then move to where I think it should be kept, but I can't find out where it was hidden! I put it somewhere just as sensitive? She was stored or moved inadvertently to the wrong place?
    It would be useful that, when a bookmark is highlighted in the right pane of the window to organize it, its current location could appear in the left pane emphasizing and expanding its hierarchy of folders. If not, perhaps the full path to the bookmark could be given in a column in the right pane which can be made visible or not by the user by right clicking on the column headers of the usual way.

    • After installation, tools > Modules > Extensions, click view the Parent folder, click Options, set your options, there are only 2 Articles.
    • After installation, the bookmarks > organize bookmarks, click views, click show columns, click Parent folder to place a check mark, the new Parent folder column in the right pane. Rearrange the columns in the right pane by dragging the column to the desired position headers.

  • Are there examples of niScope send software trigger edge

    This is the sub VI:

    In my case, PXI-5105 and 6368 are used for the acquisition of synchronization. Post_trig_event and pre_trig_event of data are needed to analyze what analog channel has abnormal evolution. The trig source is not unique, which include several analogue channels. I therefore prefer to use a software to process a lot of data to channel to find the abnormal change and then send a trig signal, which means a trig signal to the PFI or the PXI_Trig. I think that the noScope that send software Trigger Edge works. Can you give me an example of this subroutine VI?

    I've attached an example that uses a software trigger to trigger an acquisition.  The code shows how to use the "niScope Trigger.vi software Send."

    Description of your request, it looks like you want to acquire data continuously and perform a top treatment in LabVIEW to determine when send software trigger.  This can also be done, and I would recommend starting with one of our continuous streaming of examples, like "niScope EX Fetch Forever.vi", which can be found using the example Locator OR under material input and output > Modular Instruments > NOR-SCOPE > Acquisition continues

    I hope this helps!

  • How to acquire with NiScope at different sampling frequencies and lengths Records?

    I need to acquire the data of 2 channels of the NI PXI-5114 map two different sampling frequencies high, at the same time. Also, I put 2 different record length. Is this possible?

    I understand that 'Vertical' settings can be configured for individual chains because the function 'Vertical niScope Configure' has 'channels of entry with which we can assign the desired channel. But for horizontal settings such as "min sampling rate" and the record min length, I could not find such an option to specify the channel. Would it not common to both channels?

    I hope that the device is capable of simultaneous sampling and therefore channels can be configured individually to different sampling rate.

    Hi AJ_CS,

    Why do you have to be distinct from sampling frequencies on channels separated from the digitizer even?  What different sampling rate do you want?

    But for horizontal settings such as "min sampling rate" and the record min length, I could not find such an option to specify the channel. Would it not common to both channels?

    You do not have an option to configure the settings of hoirizontal on a channel by channel basis because this concept does not exist in the traditional sense of the use of a scope.  Compatible with the concept of IVI, an oscilloscope traditional benchtop will have only a button or a set of buttons for setting the parameters of synchronization of the unit.  There is therefore no horizontal configuration to separate channels on the scanners NOR.

    I hope that the device is capable of simultaneous sampling and therefore channels can be configured individually to different sampling rate.

    Similar to a traditional benchtop oscilloscpe, the device is capable of simultaneous sampling.  But as mentioned above, the channels can not be configured for different sampling frequencies high.

    However, you can ignore data that you think is not relevant.  For example, if you assign 100MS/s CH0 and CH1 to 50 MS/s, then you throw all other samples.

    Alternatively, you can use separate scanners (a channel on each digitizer) and configure them to taste at different rates.  You can set frequencies of sampling on scanners NOR separated and even synchronize them with TClk.

  • When to compensate for and win on a PXI-5122 niScope change?

    In my application, I use the niScope VI Fetch (I16 2D) to extract a multi-record, multichannel on a PXI-5122 digitizer acquisition.  Trying to optimize my code, this has led me to this question.

    I am taking 32 successive acquisitions and adding (on average) all waveforms.  According to the notice in the scale and standardization of binary data, I first apply the parameter wfminfo.gain to data I16, sum which, then apply the offset.  MATLAB-like pseudocode for my Labview code, it is something like:

    sum = zeros (1,1000)
    offsetsum = 0
    for i = 01:32
    [wfminfo, samples_i16] is niscope_fetch_i16 (...);
    samples_float = wfminfo.gain. * float(samples_i16[0,:]);
    Sum = sum + samples_float
    offsetsum = offsetsum + wfminfo.offset
    end
    Sum = sum + ones (1,1000). * offsetsum

    So my question is whether it is prudent to assume that the wfminfo gain (and offset) settings remain constant for the duration of a session of acquisition (since time niScope Acquisition throw is called until the moment where the acquisition completed)?   The reference above on normalization coefficients indicates that these coefficients are a function of resolution and vertical calibration settings.  That would allow me to move the multiplication of gain outside the loop of the acquisition and perform arithmetic on integers.  It's a safe assumption?

    Hi Gregory,

    We tested this here, and you should be able to pull these gain and offset parameters before the while loop is entered and the arithmetic operation later outside of the loop.  To do this, you can place a niScope get Wfm Coefficients VI before the while loop, set it to obtain the Coefficients of standardization and route those elsewhere, because they will remain constant over the acquisition.

  • What is the replacement for "configure Reference Levels.vi niScope.

    I just put my driver OR-Scope of 3.4 to 3.6 and now the VI, "set up reference Levels.vi niScope" is missing in the instr.lib\niScope\Configure\ directory. I found an old version under niScopeObsolete.llb but this version uses DLL calls where the 3.4 version used nodes of property. What became of this VI and where can I find a covering memo telling me that this feature has been removed?

    Thank you

    Charles

    Hi Charles,

    I looked back through the files on the disk and the oldest version I found this VI was about seven (can't find the files before this date) years ago. It was located under the folder \Measurements\Obsolete even at this time, and it seems to be the same VI (he calls in the DLL). The following year he then changed locations to the niScopeObsolete.llb directory. I was unable to find a version that contained simply property nodes, but you are right that the features are essentially the same. Actually, this is the most likely reason that it is not a top-level function that exists in one of pallets of NOR-SCOPE function, since it is only used in some measures specific and exact functionality can be achieved through the use of knots of property.

    You are able to make use of the current version you found in niScopeObsolete.llb or maybe just nodes of property without any problems? I'm interested in knowing what else was different with the 'new' version that you had with the nodes property. Is that what the icon and/or documents of the VI is different? Do you still have this VI you can join? I want to assure you that this change did not affect your application beyond the confusion to have the situation has changed.

    Kind regards

  • Organization chart... .to leave Vi hierarchy?

    I know that I went on this point the wrong way... probably the point #1 in the top ten things not to do when programming, not but...  (I'm not a software engineer, you guessed?)

    I have a state machine relatively complex vi developed and deployed and I don't have a chart for it. As I was only working on this, I know it all and how it works, but I need to have an overview for non-geeks out there, who will use the standalone version.

    Is it possible to generate a diagram of the VI hierarchy?

    or what is the best way to develop the organizational chart (not from the beginning..)

    Kind regards

    There is nothing automatic.

    Condition is not based on a construction of QSM (this design model can enable transitions that are impossible to document completely...), it can be done by hand with your favorite flowchart software (don't wince but I use paint and PP for this for so long I know all shortcuts and can do it quickly).

    I received the code developed by other groups and drwaing place the diagram of the State was the first step in the estimate of what would be needed to begin to support it.

    This thread is for some years on a similar topic and can be useful.

  • Create ASAM ODS hierarchy

    I am configuring an ASAM ODS server. I already create the server, export the configuration, and installed on the client computer. Then I am able to connect from a client computer to the server but when I try to run the script to the hierarchy that does not work. My understanding of the forums another is that the script "main.vbs" to create the hierarchy should be run in tiara 2012 (I'm running with 2012 SP1 and still does not work).

    The first thing I notice is that after the conection icons are not the same in the interface ASAM (NAVIGATOR) and then when I run the "main.vbs" and "CreateASAMModelHierarchy.SUC" the error attached.

    Can you please help me with this problem?

    Neither Chei,

    In case you have the same problem as did nrin, here is once again this solution:

    To connect to the NI ASAM-ODS server with AOP5 please follow these steps:
    1. open the NAVIGATOR tiara.
    2. go to settings - data banks...
    3. Add a new data store. Or using the first button on the toolbar or via the context menu.
    4. enter a name, select the use AOP5 and click OK.
    5. in the following configuration dialog box, you must enter the computer name of the machine running the server OR ASAM-ODS.
    (This information is also displayed in the dialog box settings ASAM Manager DataFinder (DFSE)
    6. click on the [...] button in the URL line. In the next dialog box, select your server ASAM-ODS.
    7 leave the dialog boxes for configuring two clicks on the [OK] button and open the new data store in the BROWSER.
    8 download the creative hierarchy script that has been updated on January 27, 2014 and run in DIAdem SCRIPT

  • Why don't I have a green exclamation point on one of my vi in the hierarchy of VI?

    Hi seafood

    Stay of execution

    Suspend execution of a Subvi to change the values of
    controls and indicators, to control the number of times that the Subvi is running
    before you return to the caller, or return to the beginning of the
    the Subvi execution. You can get all calls to a Subvi
    with the suspended, or you can suspend a specific call to a Subvi.

    To suspend all calls a slot - VI, open the Subvi and select Operate"
    Suspend when it is called
    .
    The Subvi suspends automatically when another VI calls it. If you
    Select this option when single-no, the Subvi does not suspend
    immediately. The Subvi suspended when it is called.

    To end a call specific Subvi, click the Subvi on the block schema node, and then select node Subvi
    The installation program
    in the context menu. Check the suspend when it is called to suspend enforcement only to this instance of the Subvi.

    "The window of the Hierarchy of VI , which view you by selecting view" VI hierarchy.
    indicates if a VI is interrupted or suspended. An arrow glyph, shown as
    as a result, indicates a VI runs regularly or not not unique.

    A glyph break, shown below, indicates a VI interrupted or suspended.

    A green break glyph, or a hollow glyph in black and
    White, shows a VI that stops when it is called. A glyph of Red break, or a
    Glyph of solid black and white, shows a VI that is currently
    pause. A glyph of exclamation point, shown below, indicates that
    the Subvi is suspended.

    A VI can be suspended and stopped at the same time.

    Determination of the current Instance of a Subvi

    When you hold a Subvi, calls list
    pull down menu in the toolbar list the chain of callers of the
    first level VI down to the Subvi. This list is not the same list you see
    "When you select go" callers to this VI, which lists asking them all screws regardless of whether they are running. Use call list
    menu to determine the current instance of the Subvi if block
    diagram contains multiple instances. When you select a VI in the menu calls list , its block diagram opens, and LabVIEW highlights the current instance of the Subvi.

  • How to create the hierarchy without creating a Subvi files

    Hello

    I have an existing LabView program that uses blocks of Subvi.  I want to change it so that I can't copy files Subvi (when I transfer the program to another computer).  The goal is to have a single file/program that I can copy, paste, and run on other computers.  So, I want to know if there is a way to create the hierarchy without creating a Subvi files or how to integrate the Subvi in the program.  My program and Subvi files are included here.

    Thank you

    Rocky

    You can create a version in an executable file.  It would be the most common way if you insist on having a single file.

    You could also build a source distribution in a zip file.  Then you just copy and paste the zip file and unzip it anywhere where you want.

  • Several Versions of NIScope

    I have LabVIEW 8.0 and 8.2 loaded on my computer.  NIScope 3.0 is compatible with LV 8.0 but not with LV 8.2.  It looks like NIScope 3.5 working with LV 8.2 but not with LV 8.0.

    Can I load multiple copies of the NIScope on my machine?

    Thanks in advance.

    Type "nor-scope", and as of today, 44 results.  Version 3.4 was the first to the second page of results.
