  I've recently updated the my OSX for 10.11.4 and now Mac Pages is no longer functional.   The application starts and you can see the menu at the top of my monitor.  When you select any drop down menu command that nothing appears on the screen... no errors, no dialog, nothing.  For example, by clicking on file - new I expect to see the new document template selection dialog box.  Nothing is displayed.  Under the windows drop-down menu it shows all the document I opened as open, including "select a template". None of them appear on the screen.

  I can click on the icon on the dock at the bottom of the screen and choose "show all". It shows the overview of the documents icon.  When I click on 'open' documents nothing shows up on the screen.

  What I tried...

  1. Restarted pages (same result)
  2. Restart the computer and execution of Pages (same result)
  3. Pages deleted and reinstalled on the App Store (same result)
  4. Google the problem... looked on the forums, but has not found to this problem.

  The application seems to work only nothing shows up on the monitor.

  Ideas/Solutions?

  OK fixed the problem... somehow, the dialog boxes were all off... doctored screen resolutions and finally got everything back... do not know how he hanged, but it was probably related to an external monitor.

  History and cookies can be deleted or not saved several ways;

  • (1) private Firefox running in Mode (nothing is recorded)

  • (3) many disk cleaners and antivirus programs may delete data from browsers. Open the settings and let the only browsers.
  • (4) mal-ware.

  Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with surf Protection, can protect the files in the folder of Firefox profile against the changes. If you have this software, then check the settings or uninstall this software.

  Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the < shift >
  (Mac options) key and then from Firefox. Is always the problem?

• Why Pages 5.6.1 creates large files?

  I just changed 5 version of iWork 09 Pages (because, frankly, I prefer the previous iteration), but I moved but I am very frustarted with relatively huge files it produces.

  For example, a page file a text-only page is almost 1 MB in size. The exported file is much smaller than 100 KB. Some will say whatever that these files are 1 MB when you have TB of storage available, but which is not probably the issue.

  If an exported file is 10 x smaller then why don't Apple produce a meager same documents.

  It goes the same for numbers v Excel. The Excel files are still way smaller than their counterparts from Apple. I won't go to the office; Mac, but I'd like to see the next version of Pages, Numbers and Keynote to offer significantly reduced files.

  I use a MacBook Pro 2011 end with recently upgraded hard drive (500 GB SSD) and doubled for the 8GB maximum RAM. I also had a new battery installed Apple (the first new condition in more than 4 years).

  If there is a way to set Pages to produce smaller sizes of default file, I'd love to hear from you.

  Pages 5.x is what it is. Bloated, inefficient and devoid of a very long list of features really basic, with Apple pretty much lost interest in it.

  Why I and many others barely used and sticks with Pages ' 09.

  In previous versions of Pages I could insert the file name or the full path of a document in the foot. I create multiple documents for our society. This has been invaluable when changes had to be made to a document or form. I can't find this option in Pages 5.6.1. Where at - it go? How can I insert a file name?

  Pages v5 (all versions) has been a complete rewrite - no no from the Pages ' 09. Insert menu: file name was never added to the application. There is no provision in the application of v5 Pages to insert the entire path either.

  If you click on the document name in the title bar, a Panel opens with the file name have been screened, and paste that in your footer. He was never a capacity in Pages ' 09 to insert a path of the document.

  The following AppleScript will display a POSIX path for the currently open document in Pages. It will support installation of Pages three different scenarios:

  1. V5 installed only with the open document pages
  2. Pages ' 09 installed only with the open document
  3. V5 pages and Pages ' 09 installed and running with open document

  Launch the Script Editor (Launchpad: others: Script Editor). Copy and paste the AppleScript in Script Editor. All text will be purple (normal). Click on the hammer icon to compile. Now the text is mixed of colors (good). Two successive stops:

  3. When you want the complete path of the open document, you click on the Pages_path icon on your desktop and a dialog box is displayed. Select, copy and paste this path into your Pages document.

  Hi Armando,

  Check the setting of the number of recent items in system preferences. Individual applications appear (in an earlier version of OS X) to pick up the number to the list compared to the setting of the system. Your can be set to 'none '.
