JO 6500 E70n-z keeps "forgetting" its host name.

Greetings,

I keep having to re-enter the hostname in my OfficeJet 6500 as he continues to go back to «new host»  I it back up when change you and I check it is correct.  But every day, it is up to «new host»  More annoying, any ideas?

Hi there RWGFromMiss,

I thank very you much for getting back to me. I would say at this time call your Internet provider to inform them on the issue of host name, that you are experiencing. Also, I suggest making sure that they check the router settings to make sure they are OK work with the printer. The parameters are listed below.

Password and network name must have no space or punctuation
If you are using WPA2 security, WPA Personal mode
Double b/g/n wireless streaming (printer connect only to g.)
MAC filtering should be disabled
Firewall settings must be in there by default, settings or the value of lower security
Multicast 'on '.
There are the following ports not blocked:
The incoming (UDP) ports: 137, 138, 161, 427
Outgoing (TCP) ports: 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500

Have a nice day

  • How device Orchestrator properly resolve its host name and IP address?

    Hello.

Someone knows how to make good DNS resolution for device Orchestrator in order to solve its own (full FQDN) host name and IP address according to DNS records?

The problem is with the methods "System.resolveIpAddress ()" and "System.resolveHostName ()".

The 'resolveIpAddress()' method returns the same so called IP with static IP address assigned to this device. And returns the domain the host's FULL name when it is called with 127.0.0.1.

So when I call "System.resolveIpAddress ('192.168.1.50')", it returns "192.168.1.50" instead of FULL domain name.

    When I call "System.resolveIpAddress ('127.0.0.1')", it returns "vco.local.lan".

The 'resolveHostName()' method returns 127.0.0.1 when it is called with FULL domain name or host name.

When I call 'System.resolveHostName ('vco.local.lan')' or '('vco') System.resolveHostName' it returns 127.0.0.1 in both cases.

utility 'nslookup' launched from the console device even work properly return FQDN by entering the IP and the return of the appropriate IP (192.168.1.50) when you enter the FULL domain name.

    Thank you.

SSH to your device or access to the console and log in as root...

    Then, edit your file/etc/hosts

-Remove any mention of your domain name FULL and hostname in there, the only things you'll want to go in the sense of:

    127.0.0.1 localhost

Possibly restart the network service (perhaps not necessary, I did it on my own)

After doing this, my phone began to show the fqdn when I chose the correct IP address in the configuration.

  • Help create messages Syslog uses the router host name

We currently have an IP SLA related to the EEM scripts that work great to send syslog messages to alert purposes.  However, I would like for each router that sends a syslog to send its host name using wildcards instead of the specified host name.  I'm guessing some sort of filtering would do the trick, but I can't find any good documentation on this topic.  That's what I currently have:

  • is it possible that an application on a virtual machine is faster than in its host?

To measure the performance of our software on vmware, compare us the performance of vm compared to its host machine.

We found that performance on three different machines showed a very different behavior, of 50% slower at 10% slower.

And the strangest thing is that there is a single machine, his vm is faster than its host.

Any help on the possible reasons is appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Additional information:

    The application is time CPU,.

CentOS 6.2 for the vm and host,

    VMware Workstation 10.0.1 build-1379776

    Hardware Dell R720VM vs host
    Xeon 2 CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00 GHz 12-Core, 32 GB-50%
    Xeon 2 E5-2650 V2 2.60 GHz, 16 Core CPU, 32 GB-10%
    Xeon 2 E5-2630 0 @ 2.30 GHz, 12 Core CPU, 64 GB20%

After eliminating the various factors, we finally understood the cause: hyper threading

After that we switched off the hyper threading, everything became normal, the slower and faster virtual machines showed same performance.

Host performance has even improved, about 10-20% faster than the virtual machine.

Hope that this experience and this information can be useful for others in the future...

  • Can a VM be powered on / accessible after the physical location changes to its host?

If all a virtual computer IP addresses are static and set on a local subnet. Then after that we moved the site from its host, these subnets defined previous is not reachable. When we readded the host in a new data center. Can we turn on the VM since all its subnets are not accessible?

The ESX host is not communicating with the virtual machines it hosts on their IP address configured on the guest.  You can have the ESX hosts that virtual host running in a DMZ and other configurations in which the network of ESX configuration does not match the virtual machine.

ESX communicates with the virtual computers for things like the time synchronization and the heartbeat of VMware Tools, but it does not use the network invited to for configuration to do.

  • HTTPS connection to the server with the host name which has its IP address

    Hi all

I work in a development of the solution where a server application is running in a machine and hosts of Application Service SOAP over HTTPS. The server has the certificates for its IP address. My client application tries to use the SOAP Service; but when I connect to the Application Server using the HOST name in the URL, I get the SSLException indicating that the HOST name does not match name the object.

If I use the IP address in the URL, it works well - but I do not like the server application can move to different IP dynamiccaly - if you are using DNS is our solution to hide this complexcity from client applications.

    Help, please.

    Kind regards
    Kaja

the HOST name does not match name the object.

The host name does not have the name of the topic in the server certificate. He agrees with host.domain name.

  • RVS4000 can it resolve local host names

I just replaced my wrt54g with a rvs4000 on a mixed linux/windows network - one of the very useful features of the wrt54g is that to resolve host names on the local network (but with a non-Linksys firmware).

Is it possible to implement the rvs4000 so that it resolve hostnames without having recourse to the 3rd party firmware?

I realize there are options with static ip addresses, dnsmasq, samba, etc. - but it seems an obvious feature to be present on the router.

    Hey John,

A large number of engineers and employees of Cisco keep an eye on this forum of the community, so suggestions or problems are noted and who knows, maybe that your suggestion will be used as a new deployment of a firmware or a product design.

  • Windows 7 Microsoft TCP/IP host name resolution order

The order of host name resolution has changed in Windows 7?

I assumed that the Deputy order (the order of the older OS)
    1. The client checks if the name queried is its own.
    2. The client will then search a local Hosts file, a list of IP address and names stored on the local computer.
    3. Domain Name System (DNS) servers are queried.
    4. If the name is still not resolved, NetBIOS name resolution sequence is used as a backup. This order can be changed by configuring the client's NetBIOS node type.
But, I see a difference when it comes 1 - "If the requested name is his own."
    That's what I do
    1. Tent client to connect to itself (a server that is running in the same machine)
    2. In windows 7, when I do a host entry to map the name of machines to 127.0.0.1, it connects to 127.0.0.1
    3. In windows server 2003, when I do a host entry to map the name of machines to 127.0.0.1, it always connects to machines IP (10.x.yy.z)
Can someone explain why this is the difference?

  • Remote touch the codec using the host name - matching cache of IPv4

Pairing for some of the features of my remote client contact is often lost/broken. It uses the DHCP protocol for codecs and uses dynamic DNS entries as 'host name' at the time of the twinning contact to the codec devices.
While this works for pairing at first, it seems the cache keys resolved IPv4 address of the codec instead of the host name. Whenever the IP address of the codec changes, the pairing is lost.
Am I wrong? I came to the conclusion that codecs must be treated using static IPs or DHCP reservations for Peel remote to work reliably
Click Select codec manually..., enter the IP address or host name of the codec and tap Start matching.
    THX
    / David

Appears this is a limitation of the Touch and/or codec, see bug CSCua05282.  The contact must use the IP address, which is why when you entered the hostname of the endpoint it solved its IP address and used it.

  • filter analysis interactive by "host name contains".

I noticed that if you use the filter 'host name contains' and then only part of the hostname "server" (full host name is serverA.zone.mycompany.net, for example), he finds not all hosts.

It seems that the host name is the analysis of the domain name FULL in parts (serverA, area, mycompany, net) and then apply it contains filter to each of them instead in its entirety instead to add a wildcard such as server *. If I do server * as my filter setting, it works fine.

I just wanted to check if this is expected behavior. I have validated this in 2.5TP2 and 2.0GA.

All LI queries are queries of complete keyword where a keyword is defined as any alphanumeric hyphen, or character. As such, serverA is a keyword, but the server is not. If you are unable to create a complete query with a keyword then you should replace the operator of contains begins with or use drops (for example server *).
