How device Orchestrator properly resolve its host name and IP address?

Hello.

Someone knows how to make good DNS resolution for device Orchestrator in order to solve its own (full FQDN) host name and IP address according to DNS records?

The problem is with the methods "System.resolveIpAddress ()" and "System.resolveHostName ()".

The 'resolveIpAddress()' method returns the same so called IP with static IP address assigned to this device. And returns the domain the host's FULL name when it is called with 127.0.0.1.

So when I call "System.resolveIpAddress ('192.168.1.50')", it returns "192.168.1.50" instead of FULL domain name.

When I call "System.resolveIpAddress ('127.0.0.1')", it returns "vco.local.lan".

The 'resolveHostName()' method returns 127.0.0.1 when it is called with FULL domain name or host name.

When I call 'System.resolveHostName ('vco.local.lan')' or '('vco') System.resolveHostName' it returns 127.0.0.1 in both cases.

utility 'nslookup' launched from the console device even work properly return FQDN by entering the IP and the return of the appropriate IP (192.168.1.50) when you enter the FULL domain name.

Thank you.

SSH to your device or access to the console and log in as root...

Then, edit your file/etc/hosts

-Remove any mention of your domain name FULL and hostname in there, the only things you'll want to go in the sense of:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Possibly restart the network service (perhaps not necessary, I did it on my own)

After doing this, my phone began to show the fqdn when I chose the correct IP address in the configuration.

  • Angular 2 http.get () fails with "cannot resolve the host name.

    I am trying to get 2 angular (well, ionic 2 actually, but the call failure is part of the kinetic moment) to shoot some json from the web. My code works fine on iOS or Android (via Cordova), but fails on any call http.get () on 10 of BlackBerry. Initially, I had problems because I did not in the whitelist the URL I was trying to download, but after whitelisting now runs the get call, but always fails. The error message "cannot resolve the host name.

    Does anyone have an idea why angular is unable to resolve an external host name when running on BlackBerry 10?

    Never mind... my bad. I encounter this problem when running my Ionic/angular application on a simulator. For me to get always consistent on many simulators BB10 different IP addresses I've run, rather than to allow VMware Player feeding the DHCP server (because it does no reservations of IP), I run a TinyCore Linux server on the same virtual network as simulators, just so that I can use DHCP on the instance of TinyCore instead Allowing no reserves. Unfortunately, I did not complete the configuration of TinyCore properly so nothing on the virtual network becomes a valid gateway or the DNS server list to access the outside world.

    When I run my application on my Z10 physics, it works fine.

    Only by exporting - with Photos (and iPhoto and Aperture) - you can have several versions of an image by duplicating the image (control - D), but this does not create an image file separated until you export - it creates a separate edit list in the database that applies to the original when you watch or export the photos

    Hello

    Whats is your ESX host name? I would recommend using with full ESX host name during the connection. You can connect to the ESX host using the host name, but to download the VM in this topic, you will need to use FULL of ESX host of domain name when connecting.

    Please try to do it and let us know if it solves your problem.

  • 11.1.1.3 install, resolve the host name different machine name

    I install 11.1.1.3 on a machine that was used as a machine of Hyperion, but it has been renamed and the old copy of uninstalled, Hyperion.

    When I run installtool.cmd, the installer resolves the host name as the former name of the machine, not as the name of the computer is now. When I use the hostname command in a command prompt, I get the new name. Any thoughts?

    Maybe the host name has been corrected in the hosts file, if it's on windows, then check in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

    To install in your numbers > Services, double-click menu just the package downloaded .workflow and if necessary give permissions in system preferences > security & privacy.

    To use, just:

    1. Select the cells in the column with duplicate names.

  • List of all VM network name and IP address

    I am trying to get my head around powerCLI.

    I want to create a script that will the virtual machines on a cluster of output and display their network name and IP address.

    I have this so far.

    (get - vm). %{
    $vm = $_
    echo $vm.name.
    $vm. Guest.Nics | %{
    $vminfo = $_
    echo $vminfo.NetworkName $vminfo. IP $vminfo. MacAddress
    echo '; ' n ';
    }
    } | Export-Csv C:\vm_nic_report.csv

    I'd love to be able to limit the output on the cluster baised, but I can't understand this.

    If I run it without the Export-CSV, I see the info that I need on the screen, but if I add the Export.csv, my CSV is a colum with a bunch of numbers and no real value.

    Hello, TdisalvoOrinoco-

    If you want to limit the output to virtual machines that reside in a specific cluster, you can just start the whole expression with a Get-Cluster and then direct to the Get - VM with which you start currently (or use the - rental on Get - VM parameter).  Thus, the first line would be one of:

    &{Get-VM -Location (Get-Cluster myCluster0) | %{    $thisVm = $_    ## a hashtable for holding properties to be returned    $hshNicInfo = @{}; $hshNicInfo["VMName"] = $thisVm.Name    ## for each NIC, build some info with MACAddr, IPInfo, and Network Name    $thisVm.Guest.Nics | % -Begin {$i = 0} -Process {        $oThisNicInfo = $_    ## the current NicInfo item        ## get the IP info (IPv4 and IPv6 if there, which should be available if VMware Tools are running)        $strIPInfo = ($oThisNicInfo.IpAddress | sort) -join "/"        ## add the NicInfo items to the hashtable for later use with New-Object        $hshNicInfo["Nic${i}MACAddr"] = $oThisNicInfo.MacAddress        $hshNicInfo["Nic${i}IPInfo"] = $strIPInfo        ## this does not seem to have the network name if the portgroup is on a distributed vSwitch, so changed to the line after it        #$hshNicInfo["Nic${i}NetName"] = $oThisNicInfo.NetworkName        $hshNicInfo["Nic${i}NetName"] = ($thisVm.NetworkAdapters | ?{$_.MacAddress -eq $oThisNicInfo.MacAddress}).NetworkName        $i++    } ## end foreach-object

        ## once the hashtable is populated for all NICs, create a new object with the info New-Object -TypeName PSObject -Property $hshNicInfo} ## end foreach-object## sorting goodness from LucD (of course) at http://communities.vmware.com/message/1769991#1769991} | sort -Property {(Get-Member -InputObject $_ -Name "Nic*").Count} -Descending | Select VMName,Nic* | ` Export-Csv -NoTypeInformation -UseCulture C:\temp\vm_nic_report.csv

    This is similar to the script posted in the thread http://communities.vmware.com/message/1848022#1848022 (which post has a bit more info on the necessary sorting for good performance, but also another way to recover data, using Get - views).

    In any case, it is a little more that you might write to debut with PowerCLI, but that he gets the output you're looking?

  • RVS4000 can it resolve local host names

    I just replaced my wrt54g with a rvs4000 on a mixed linux/windows network - one of the very useful features of the wrt54g is that to resolve host names on the local network (but with a non-Linksys firmware).

    Is it possible to implement the rvs4000 so that it resolve hostnames without having recourse to the 3rd party firmware?

    I realize there are options with static ip addresses, dnsmasq, samba, etc. - but it seems an obvious feature to be present on the router.

    Hey John,

    A large number of engineers and employees of Cisco keep an eye on this forum of the community, so suggestions or problems are noted and who knows, maybe that your suggestion will be used as a new deployment of a firmware or a product design.

  • JO 6500 E70n-z keeps "forgetting" its host name.

    Greetings,

    I keep having to re-enter the hostname in my OfficeJet 6500 as he continues to go back to «new host»  I it back up when change you and I check it is correct.  But every day, it is up to «new host»  More annoying, any ideas?

    Hi there RWGFromMiss,

    I thank very you much for getting back to me. I would say at this time call your Internet provider to inform them on the issue of host name, that you are experiencing. Also, I suggest making sure that they check the router settings to make sure they are OK work with the printer. The parameters are listed below.

    Password and network name must have no space or punctuation
    If you are using WPA2 security, WPA Personal mode
    Double b/g/n wireless streaming (printer connect only to g.)
    MAC filtering should be disabled
    Firewall settings must be in there by default, settings or the value of lower security
    Multicast 'on '.
    There are the following ports not blocked:
    The incoming (UDP) ports: 137, 138, 161, 427
    Outgoing (TCP) ports: 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500

  • Photosmart HP 5510 B111a-printing of Ipads, host names and more!

    Hello

    I have 5 of these photosmart printers installation in various places around our school to allow printing of the iPad 2 that have been deployed to classrooms.

    The problem is it seems to be a way to identify the different printers on the network when printing of you ipads. When I click on print and then select a printer list shows "PHOTOSMART HP 5510 B111a [C95...

    The [C95 corresponds to the first three digits of the host name of the printer, the problem is that three out of five printers have the same first three digits and are all the same displayed as the example above and therefore gives no idea of what printer you select until you print.] Which is not very practical in a school of our size!

    I connected to the HP configuration page using the IP address and changed the host name, but it changed only on windows-based hardware.

    So my question is: is it possible to change the name of the printer to allow me to determine what printer I print from an iPad? If this isn't the case, any other solution would be great.

    Hello

    You can change the identification of the unit of the printer, following embedded Web server:

    1. Access SAP from your browser by using the IP address of the printer.
    2. Enter the network tab.
    3. Enter the network.
    4. Enter Hello.
    5. Change the Name of Service Hello , as required, the updated name will appear on any Apple device.
    6. Click apply to save the changes.
