JPEG - maintain image quality

Do JPEGs degrade whenever you have them in photoshop, change the color space and save them.

Example: I receive a Moose JPEG file, change the size of the image and rename the original and save - as. A month later, I open this new file and convert it to CMYK. The quality of the image degraded with these changes?

I'm going to use the images for printing large format and you want the best quality.

Yes JPEG can degrade with multiple changes and economy.

After you change a jpeg the first time and a plan to edit later, save a psd or tiff file to prevent further damage.

  • Reduce the size of the pdf while maintaining image quality

    Hello

I have 5 pages in PDF of very hi res images - one of the images is a full page.  I need to shrink down so I can send it to people.

The size of the original file is 60 MB.  When I use the option ' save under / optimized pdf "it it narrows up to 1.5 MB.  To small size the images seem very pixelated... and the text on some pages (especially the italicized text) sounds really weird.  I think there must be a happy medium... a size I can always email but looks better?

I tried messing around with the options, but I can't seem to cut more than 1.5 MB!  There seems to be 60 or 1.5 MB... not between the two.

Can anyone throw any light on this for me please?

    Thank you!!

Just change your optimization under the Graphics tab options. With 60 MB of graphics, do not wait the results to be great when downsample you, but you have a little left of the Hall with 1.5 MB. You could try to reduce the colors (not 24 million) or using lossy compression, if they are available. I have to go to the screen to see what options are available.

  • Who has the highest image quality?

I'm working on a huge project, analysis of the thousands of books, documents and files that I have collected over the years in the form of PDF files. I use a scanner high speed when possible, using a dish only for items that cannot be digitized with a scanner high speed (large size files and folders in several pages for example). My plan is to digitize everything as quickly as possible, so I can have a digital copy safely stored in my computer and some external hard drives. This is probably what I need to do for only text files, which I can throw then (the copy of the paper, that is).

However, I want to make a new image analysis (and perhaps some elements of text) at a higher resolution on my scanner so I can have copies of higher quality. Then I'll try to figure out the best resolution and what file type to save as. I use a scanner Epson Perfection V33. Am I right in thinking that quality would be offered by a .tiff file, followed by a .jpg with a .pdf file file lower quality?

The quality of most of my material is not extraordinary, and I probably won't be much as TIFF, scanner due to the huge file size. So I think that the best option for images (and the text that I might want to scan as an image) is jpg. Is there any particular optimal resolutions that you would recommend?

    Thank you.

"Image quality" in a document PDF is created by the image quality of the image that is presented in the PDF document.

A PDF file can and often there are a lot of images with each having a different image resolution.

If you have content text on paper and that you want to scan it, go to TIFF and then create a PDF of TIFF.

This optimises the accuracy of OCR recognition.

JPEG production involves typically "ugly" compression (compression by destructive removal of content) - not too goof to images of text that you want to pass by OCR.

Analysis of the text to TIFF - 300 dpi will suffice in most situations. Avoid JPEG compression.

    Be well...

  • The flattening (or economy without diapers) compromises image QUALITY?

I'm save a large .tiff with multilayered image, but do not need to access the different layers, so my question is simple, if I can save the image without layers in order to reduce the size, or which would also reduce the image QUALITY?

Long as you save it as a TIFF, PSD, PSB or PDF, also there is no loss of quality.

It's perfectly fine in principle, if you are absolutely certain "have really no need to access the different layers later.

If you have vector layers or text that you need to print, it is much better not to flatten the image like that rasterizes all layers.

Just stay far, far away from JPEG files, which are deteriorating in quality whenever you save or resave them.

  • JPEG files @ vs quality Maximum recording

    Hello

    Hope you are well.

I was saving a few pictures someone sent me which are JPEG files. I had saved the default of 8 (top), but then it dawned on me that maybe I should be keeping to the Maxiumum for better image quality.

Is there a difference? Is it useful to take back and re-record the ones I only saved as high as Maximum?

    Thank you very much.

JPEG files are compressed freshly whenever you save, so the damage accumulates. Re-register now wouldn't that make worse it. When you receive a jpeg file in the future, save it immediately as tiff or psd.

In general, jpeg is a transport format (and a good one at that) - but it's not a working format. The golden rule for jpeg is to save once.

But don't panic. As long as you stay in the higher ranges (8-12), two or three stops are likely not to degrade it in a visible way.

Select SLICES.  Open the OPTIMIZE.  Change the setting value in the format PNG 24.  EXPORT (and not save) slices by choosing File > export.   HTH

  • The image quality of MacBook Air vs Pro

    Hello

    I just bought a MacBook Air 13 "and I got a MacBook Pro 13" (non-retine) till now.
If I compare the image quality between Air and Pro there is a difference of contrast and sharpness of the colors. The monitors setting is the same on both Macs, the Air is even supposed to have high resolution (1440 x 900 instead of 1280 x 800, the MacBook Pro). Graphics card is Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB vs 4000 in my MacBook Pro.

Anyone know if there is a difference in both computers display technology, or if this could be a problem in my Macbook Air?

THX in advance and best regards

    Products and specifications:

    MacBook Air (13 ", Anfang 2015)

    Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz

    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

LCD display is different between Pro and Air. Don't know which group is better.

  • S70 satellite image quality - A - 11 H web camera is not good

    Hello

Running windows 8.1 which came with the laptop.
    New out of the box.

    According to the title.

I find the quality of the image of the camera very grainy color image, poor etc.

When I start the webcam using the search bar on the right, he begins using the Microsoft application, when you access all the parameters that is available under settings/options is Photo image format, the grid lines, the location information.

I've been in touch with Toshiba support who advised to do a refresh of laptop, I did.
    It made no difference.

After which they asked me to find the Toshiba web camera application on your laptop, it should have been in the Program Files folder in the folder of Toshiba.
This application does not exist on my laptop.

Technology verified the same laptop model, that he was available, he said when he selected the webcam, he opened using Web of Toshiba, Microsoft no camera app.

I looked at the other portable Toshiba with web cameras and found the picture quality to be better. Unable to get to settings and these computers portable on-screen and in demo mode, so locked up to a certain extent.

I can't believe a web camera in this day and age for this value of laptop to have this bad image quality. My digital camera of 10 years ago has a better picture quality.

I checked through the laptop, and I don't have this app installed.

I have checked for software and drivers updated to my laptop and cannot find this application applies to my laptop. Etc drivers seem to be up to date.

I would like to know, other users of this series S have any camera image quality problem.
What application is used when the camera is selected, Toshiba or Microsoft.

Is Toshiba web camera application for Windows 8.1, that I don't see not listed for 8.1
This sounds like a hardware failure or a problem with the application/software.

Any guidance or help on this would be appreciated, because I came to a point of the return of this laptop for a refund.

    Thanks in advance.

    D.

    Yes, I tried using FORCE!

    > Technology checked the same laptop model, that he was available, he said when he selected the webcam, he opened using Web of Toshiba, Microsoft no camera app.

Toshiba webcam app is available for the system Win 7 but win it 8 and 8.1 of Windows system use the webcam from Microsoft to the own address application.

    > I looked at the other portable Toshiba with web cameras and found the picture quality to be better.
Different Toshiba laptops are equipped with different webcams.
    Satellite S70 - A - 11 H was fitted with a * 0.92 mega pixel webcam *.

For example a Satellite A660 was equipped with a mega pixel webcam_ _1.3M

There is therefore a difference of resolution of the webcam

    Hello

If you image quality is bad check details in the menu setting by choosing the right standard of TV (try PAL and NTSC as an alternative).

And if the LCD screen image is unclear when shooting, try to turn the ring to 'Focus' on the circumference of the lens on the proper position: (general/Figure/Macro)

  • IdeaPad Yoga 13 - HDMI of bad image quality on the TV 1080 p screen?

Hi people, I have recently connected my Yoga via HDMI to my TV Samsung 40 ". Unfortunately, the image quality does not as good as my old T61 via VGA hooked up to my TV. Image via HDMI on my TV has some sort of "shadows" around the edges at all. I use a HDMI Basics Amazon cable that is capable of 3D and Ethernet over HDMI - I think this cable should be ok.

Did it someone else faced with problems with the picture quality of the Yoga on a TV via HDMI before?

Just for completeness: it was my TV sharpness settings. I had to turn off completely disable the artifacts.

  • Bad PCI-1405 image quality

I just got a fg PCI-1405 to replicate an old Imaging System. I use a Sony XC - ST50 (PAL) monochrome camera.

The image quality is poor. He has a blurry pixelated, look to it. I remember that the last time I bought the fg of low-end of NOR, I had a similar problem and had to switch to the Commission more expensive which worked very well. I find it had to believe that NEITHER would sell a POS, so what am I doing wrong? Is there some sort of configuration that I'm missing?

Note: I have the camera set up like a PAL camera standard.

    Thank you!

It is a device of XC-ST50CE. However, I was playing around with some parameters. This combination gave me good results:

    Luma - full bandwidth

    Luma comb - disabled

    Trap of Chroma - off

    Luma peaked - disabled

Bandwidth of Chroma - high (probably any)

Comb of Chroma - off (probably any)

Treatment of Chroma - always off (probably any)

  • The image quality with the Canon 5Dmark 2 vs... The 5Dmark3?

I use Leica lenses on a canon with an adapter body.  Is the image quality with the Canon 5Dmark 2 vs.the 5Dmark3 similar?  A reason to get one against the other?  I like the idea that I can change the viewfinder on the Mk 2 screens. Any overwhelming improvement in the 5Dmark 3 that would justify the review?  Thanks to those who have used the two boxes.

The main advantage of a Mk3 on the Mk2 is the AF.  Most points and it can focus with f/8.   If your Leica lens is manual focus, then you would not care to this topic.  3 5 has a bit of an advantage in the ISO but not a huge factor.  Another one, I'd say that IQ is the same.
