• Impossible to get the JPG files to open in ACR

  Hi all!

  I just reinstalled CS3 (and the 10.0.1 associate patches) on a new MacBook Pro and I can't get the JPG files to open in ACR.  I checked the checkbox is set to on screen preferences Camera Raw 'Always open files with settings using Camera Raw JPG', and my NEF files open in ACR very well, but will not open JPG files.  I have the same problem with TIFF files... I have the box ticked, but when I drop the files on the Photoshop icon, they right in CS3, not open cab.

  I can get him to open in ACR by choosing open..., by selecting the JPG file, and then change the format to "Camera Raw", but this does not work in my workflow with Lightroom.

  Has anyone seen this problem and know a fix?  It's a setting somewhere?  My old laptop is configured exactly the same (I think), but JPG files will open directly in ACR without problem.

  For CS3, you have the right settings in ACR preferences, preferences of Photoshop and preferences of the Bridge .

  Any ideas why my layered psd and tif files with PS12 64 bit open flattened in the PS7?

  A few copies of tif, I did were not... but most was still flat when opened with PS7.

  This seems to have started randomly out of the blue and it's quite annoying.   If you can access the internet somehow, if you are using Vista, go to http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/22/reset-and-fix-broken-windows-vista-file-ext-and-type-associations-include-exe-com-sys-zip-lnk-folder-drive/ and scroll to the EXE and click or double-click it to run the program to restore EXE file associations. Once done, do the same for LNK entry. That should restore your programs. If you are using Windows 7, go to http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html . If you are using XP, go to http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm.

  If no internet access, copy the appropriate reg entries to a flash drive on another computer, transfer to Office the 'bad' computer to and run them from there to make the changes.  Reboot and you should be good to go.

• WIndows 8 - why jpg files are downloaded or saved as files of windows media player

  I'm just a new laptop and WIndows 8 is already installed on it.

  Now, when I try to download an e-mail or drop jpg files, it writes windows media (files WMP) Player.

  When I want to insert images into a Word document, Word does not recognize the WMP files as images.

  Nor can I open them. WMP does not recognize as valid a file and I can't seem to open in a photo application.

  It's really annoying.

  2 is this problem limited to all specific jpg files you downloaded?

  I suggest to put Photo Viewer/photo app as default and check if the problem persists.

  the .jpg files, I created one year before (and earlier) were around 300 k in size of file for a an RGB color of the file with dimensions 500 x 350 pixels recorded by clicking file, save under, with 12 quality .jpg.

  When you double-click a file to open it, Windows XP examines the file name extension. If Windows XP recognize the file name extension, it opens the file in the program that is associated with this file name extension. Try to change the file association and check if it helps.

  Ive recently had a problem with my new laptop HARD drive. I reformatted it in FAT32 but I lost everything. Long story short, I found all my photos. For some reason but I can't open any of them even if they take up space on my disk. When I try to open the files I get the following error message;

After I ran the process (Tools-> Illustrator-> Trace of Image with a custom tracing Preset and record in .ai format) on a batch of images, I open them in Illustrator CC and they were all automatically re-traces before I could see them. It seems that the Illustrator is re - run the vectorization I applied in Bridge. Save the file under a new name doesn't make a difference.
