Just installed Vista now my speakers do not work

Just installed Vista, now, I have no sound from any application.  Media Player will play all the sounds.  Streaming equipment will play either.

The audio device may not have been set correctly

Method 1. Verify that the default audio device is correctly set

1. click on Start sound in the box type start search.
2. click on sound in the results of search at the top of the start menu.
3. click on the tab reading notice the check mark next to the default device. For most users, the default device is speakers. If you are using speakers as the sound device and speakers are already set as the default device, go to method 5 now.
4. Select the audio device you want as the audio device by default, and then click set as default.
5. click on the Properties button, then select the levels tab and make sure that the volume is at 100 and not dumb.
6. click OK to save your settings and close the Sound dialog box.

Method 2. Reload the current sound driver

1. click on type of Start the Device Manager in the start search box and press ENTER.
In the Device Manager dialog box, expand of sound, video and game controllers.
Look for the audio device that was included with the computer.
2 right click on the device, and then click Properties.
Click driver , and then click Uninstall.
Make sure to delete the driver software for this peripheral checkbox is disabled, and then click OK.
In the Device Manager dialog box, click the Action menu, and then click find the hardware changes. You receive a message that States that a hardware device is being installed, and then the uninstalled audio device appears in Device Manager.
Close the Device Manager dialog box.

Method 3 Let us also ensure that your Audio drivers are up to date.

Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
Click the hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
Click sound, video and game controllers , to expand.
Under sound, video and game controllers, double-click the entry for your sound card, and then click the driver tab.
Note If a driver tab is not present, the entry that you clicked on Sub audio, video and game controllers may not be the correct entry for your sound card. Try to click any additional entries listed under sound, video and game controllers.
Click Update driver software.
Follow the drier on the software update wizard to update the sound card driver.
