Just installed wireless router... advice nned to change settings

Sorry if it's a sore subject. I tried to use the search function and did not understand what ppl were talking about anyway... Here's my situation:

I had to install a new wireless router today and fortunately I got a new Linksys sitting in the closet that I got a year or two ago. It is a model BEFW11S4-VN.  The notice said just to watch the 'user's Guide' which is located on the boot CD if I want to change my settings. I did it and it was as much help as the famous Windows 'Help' button :/

In any case... How do the settings of this device box?

Thank you

Thank you

You must connect to the terrestrial telephone line - outlet. But
You can buy cheaply something that fits into the wall

  • Re-setup of printer after new installed wireless router.

Having recently installed a new wireless router, that I had to reinstall my Photosmart B110a as I did not see the printer on Apple devices using the router.

There are 2 Intel MacBooks, 1 iBook G4 and a PowerBook G4 all work OSX 10.5.8 plus an office of G5 running 10.4.11 on this router.

I installed the driver but when I try to add the printer I get a dialog box requesting the "Ipadmin" username and password.

I don't, as I remember, put in place a group skinning Ipadmin and I was wondering if anyone else had come acrosds such a request?

  • Trying to install wireless router WRT160N

Here's my network setup: cable modem adapter VOIP phone to a wired router to 2 desktops

I plugged the ethernet cable from the modem cable in blue port 1 of the wireless router, plugged the blue cable on port internet and then connected to the WAN port on the VOIP adapter.  Also tried the reverse (ethernet cable to the Internet port, blue cable in port 1 and then to the WAN adapter VOIP port).  Or work of configuration and installation is not complete.

The configuration above puts the router in front of the VOIP wireless and wired routers.  Should I put the router wirelessly between the VOIP adapter and wired router or maybe AFTER the wired router at the end of the network?

I thought about it - the VOIP adapter must be first online... so now, my configuration is modem cable---> VOIP adapter--->--->---> computers wired router wireless router

Thanks for trying to help anyway!

  • Wireless router no internet has caused

I installed a wireless Belkin on my Windows XP Home, SP3 computer run my download using "Network Setup Wizard", but when I accecced the internet has dropped some 40 MBS to 7 MBS and the download speed is comparable.
Then I unplugged the router/modem cables and reconnected the cables to the modem to the computer. But, when I tried to access the internet, I had "server not found". I guess Windows thinks that the router is connected.
Device Manager and connections network showed: Linksys Wireless - G PCI adapt, Marvel Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller and 1394 Net adapt, but not Belkin. I couldn't find Belkin by using the search.
I resorted to using System Restore to fix my problem. The restored date shows the same information as the current date Device Manager.
My question is how can I restore the current date without the problem of access to the internet?

  • Installed new router wireless; don't know how to change the settings of the printer

I just changed the wireless router that has created a problem with printing. I don't know what I have to do to change the printer settings to accommodate the new wireless router. Would be very happy for any help with how to do it. I'm on Windows XP SP3 with a HP all-in-one on a wireless laptop (no wired connection). Wireless router is a linksys. Free trial security AVG 8. Thank you!

@jerrymcampbell, sorry you had a problem given that you got a new router.

You will just need to reconnect the printer to the network again.

What kind of printer you have?

Function of the printer, you can access the network settings on the printer, choose the Setup wireless and connect to the new network wizard.

After that, go to the computer and to update the IP address.

    1. click on Start Menu

    2. Select all programs

    3 select the HP folder

    4. click on the name of the printer

5 scroll to the IP ADDRESS UPDATE

IF I take my laptop it it works fine. I changed the settings secure to unsecured and it connected correctly. When I changed this back in would not work again.
It says that windows is unable to connect to my router. I have reset my modem and router and it continues to happen... What can I do?

    Hello

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Download - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version. (The
manufacturer of system become your backup policies).

Repeat for network (NIC) card and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as Vista like
    updated drivers.

I would also turn off auto update for the drivers. If the updates Windows suggests a just HIDE as they
are almost always old, and you can search drivers manually as needed.

Make sure you know the details of connection to your wireless router - SSID and password.

You lose connection when you do and have to redo your logon.

Control Panel - Network & Sharing Center - right, click Customize - page set of network locations.
lower left click on merge or delete network locations - REMOVE all instances of your network (and the
others you don't use anymore) - REBOOT. Start - Connect To log on to the network.

  • Change Wireless Router WRT54GS to a new PC

I just bought a new PC and would like to transfer the router to the new. What is the best way to do it? I have to reset the router, I have tried to install the router on the new PC (with CD) and received an error that it is reading my old one (the same).

    Thank you

    JC

You don't have to change anything on the router. You don't need the CD of configuration that came with the router.

Wire your PC for the WRT and that's it.

If you want to connect wireless and then find your network and you connect. Enter your password and everything is ready.

I think you've got the third-party software installed on your laptop to configure the wireless adapter. Third-party software seems to have disabled the Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) Microsoft service. You will need to reactivate it.

Follow the steps below to activate the automatic configuration on your laptop.

    1. Click Start, click Run, type % SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc/s, and then click OK.

    2. double-click on Wireless Zero Configuration.

    3. in the startup type list, click Automatic, and then clickApply.

    4. in the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.

Software configuration of certain wireless adapters removes the automatic configuration service. If this is the case, you can try this fix by changing the registry value.

WARNING: Editing the registry can be dangerous, use it at your own risk.

    1. click on start - run and type reg. And then click OK.

    2. browse this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE es\WZCSVC

    3. next, create a DWORD value and name it 'Start' and set it to 2.

  • I just installed a new router and now my desktop running Windows XP computer does not connect to the internet.

    Hello

I just installed a new router and now my desktop running xp computer does not connect to the internet. I know that it is not the router because I plugged the cable into my laptop running 7 and it works fine. When I try to dhcp I get 169..., when I put manually the IP just get no access to the internet and can not ping to the router address. I tried to run the net work Assistant, emptied my dns, disabled all firewals, still nothing.
    Any suggestions?
    original title: connectivity Limeted

The zero configuration utility works very well. But it is a desktop computer and on cable. All other wired and wireless PC in the office is working well, then it's definitely this PC. He came out of nowhere, I install a network printer on the PC but that's all.

Your messages are a bit terse, but if I understand correctly

    • You have a router connected to the Internet and multiple computers connected to the router, some Ethernet cable and others by wireless.
    • All but one of these computers can reach successfully from the Internet via the router.
    • A computer that can't browse the Internet is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
    • You disconnected the cable between the router and the desktop problem and connected it to a Windows 7 laptop and the laptop connected to the Internet via the router.
    • You haven't seen any error message (except, perhaps, a message on "Limited or no connectivity").
    • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or at least Service Pack 2)

Assuming that all the foregoing is an accurate summary of the situation, I suggest that you do the following:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines and press ENTER after each line

    Netsh reset winsock catalog
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

  • Do I have to buy an adapter wireless network in over a wireless router, or there at - it an adapter already installed on the computer?

OK - I'm not savvy computer whatsoever, I would get that out of the way.  I just got internet at home, and unfortunately it is wired, so I must be connected to the wall if I want to use.  I want to go wireless as soon as possible and find out that I need a wireless router.  My question is, do I need to buy a wireless adapter as well?  Or is something already installed internally on my computer?  I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, Vista, (if it's even relevant information)...  I checked my adapters and it wasn't that anything listed that specifically, 'Wireless', said however, there is "Intel(r) WiFi 1500 AGN" - this could be what I'm looking for?  Otherwise and I just need to buy a separate adapter bitch, please let me know... Thank you very much!

The 'Intel(r) WiFi 1500 AGN"is a wireless network adapter.  You don't need to buy anything.

What you want to do with the ATV without an Internet connection?  It is designed as a device of Internet broadcast, so you can access online content via the big screen in the living room rather than the pocket computer in your pocket...

technically I think its possible but you would still need an Internet connection for the installation and update of the software process and even less to download applications and games, but if you don't have an Internet connection apps/games will probably not work. I don't think that there is 'out of play'...
