Just reformatted - Inspiron 9200

Hello

I just reformatted my computer to factory settings. When should I upgrade my XP Home Edition Professional? Before installing applications or after?

In addition, what other applications should I complete? The CD I have at present are:

1 sonic MyDVD 5.3 Delux and RecordNow 7.3 Deluxe software

2 CyberLink PowerDVD software

According to me, Miss me a few others. My computer is old a few years, that I probably poorly placed than others.

  • The Inspiron 9200 HARD drive replacement

I read some previous posts about the replacement of HDD for an Inspiron 9200, but is there a resource out there that I can use to determine if a HARD drive that I buy will be compatible.

I currently use an IBM HTS726060M9AT00 (Hitachi 7 K 60) 60 GB drive. I don't want to maintain the 7200 rpm on my next purchase, but what other card that I need to know. Can I use SATA, or can I just use an ATA HDD?

I'm just frustrated with this current drive, it is extremely hard and his last breath?

Good reources out there with lists of hard drives? Maybe you have a good suggestion. I want to just make sure I don't buy an inconsistent player.

    Thank you for your help,

  • I just be reformatted my computer and now when I turn on my lap top it takes a user name and password

my computer aka the computer dell laptop starts, but before it goes to the screen of welcome I have to logg microsoft XP and I don't know the user name and password

Original title: I just reformatted my computer and now when I turn on my lap top there need a username and password and I have no idea what is it please can someone help me

If you reformatted your computer / reinstalled Windows XP, then you entered an administrator password twice, possibly with a security issue, or you have left all these blanks.

    Try:

    -Username: admin - password:
-Just to fill the area of the administrator user and press enter

In addition, if you load to the Welcome screen, now try the CTRL + ALT key and tap DEL twice.  This should give you CTRL + ALT + DEL logon box.

  • I need to reformat my external hard drive to use with Bootcamp?

I intend partitioning very little hard drive space because I have 255 Gb solid state. I bought a seagate drive, because for the price, it has the best transfer rate. I intend to help if you are using windows. It would be nice to spend my money on a single external use. The drive must be reformatted for mac. I'm sure that means I can't use it for both, but I hope that I do not understand how boot camp and the work of partitioning. I hope that I can just reformat external use for mac and I can also use it in bootcamp with windows.

If anyone knows how that might unfold, I would be grateful!

    Thank you

The Boot Camp drivers allow Windows to read the disc, but not write installation of MacDrive in Windows will provide write access.

  • HP 3D DriveGuard no longer work after reformatting

I don't post a question in this case looks like walk up to a wall and she asks a question, no different, but I recently had my hp dv6-1360us with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit reformatted by hp, I sent the laptop for repair of a problem that has not resolved, instead of this they just reformat the laptop and has sent back to me = / anyway I just noticed that the hp 3d driveguard to operate before, is not currently active, it is said instead it is disabled and the hard drive is not supported, there at - it no way to solve this problem, it is used to activate and work before?

Go to the control panel and find the "Device Manager" and expand "system devices".

Right-click on HP Mobile Data Protection sensor and uninstall the driver and remove the software for this device and click OK. Restart your computer and return to the Device Manager and there should be a mistake there as "unknown device".

Please let me know if this is the case.

Windows can reinstall the software and driver and this may even solve your problem.

  • Using identical laptop recovery for mine reformatting disks

I'll try and keep this base. I bought a L855-149, but shortly after, he started getting blue screens. I rang Toshiba, who told me to do the recovery discs in case they had to send me a new hard drive, so I made these discs. However, at the end of the day, the shop I bought the laptop just replaced the computer with a new model even a - and probably the same strain that all this has happened in a few weeks.

Replacement laptop has worked without any problems at all, but a few days ago he has been infected with malicious software, a browser redirection virus which I set and a few other similar files apparent that I seems especially clearing around through several different malware scanners and running antivirus scans. All works well, but I'm uncomfortable and knows that there is always some associated files dragged somewhere that I didn't, so I want to just reformat the entire system, so I can be so certain that it is possible that my info is safe.

My problem is I very stupidly forgot to make the new recovery disc for the new laptop when I got it. So I can use the original L855-149 recovery disks, and if I can, what makes the blue screens on this transfer through my current Satellite disks could?

Or would I be better to simply make my current Satellite recovery disks and hope that the malware has not disappeared near the recovery partition?

Also, am I correct that reformatting does not void your warranty?

    Thanks in advance.

    > Or would I be better to simply make my current Satellite recovery disks and hope that the malware has not disappeared near the recovery partition?
Something like this will not happen. Create recovery disks or install the recovery image using disk HARD recovery option. more info on what you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm or in manuals s user document.

    > Also, am I correct that reformatting does not void your warranty?
Yes, you are. You can install recovery so often desired image.

  • How to reformat my Satellite Pro A60

    Hello world.

I have a very old laptop (Satellite Pro A60) and have just started to use again (will have to buy a new one soon), but this 'thing' is incredibly slow. I want to just reformat the drive, but I am at a loss how to do. It was in fact the portable parents first if I do not have the original XP disc.

How can I do this? Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

If you wish to format HDD books, then you will need to use an operating system.

Usually, the laptop came with the Toshiba Recovery CD.
This recovery CD contains the OS, drivers, tools and additional software.

You must simply boot from this CD (recovery CD) or Microsoft Windows CD and the operating system install.

    That s it!

  • SSD for the boot, SSD, reformatting of the files needed for a normal startup of Windows 7

I just have to use the SSD Sandisk more for the startup of Windows 7 and MSOffice programs.
I made a mistake of a new copy on Windows 7 top loading.
What I wanted, it was just part of Windows 7 with all current configurations and keep the data on the other hard drive.

So what I did is to clone the old HD (which was almost full) to a larger HD, so I have a full copy, which is bootable.
I took the old HD and removed/uninstalled all data & programs except: all files in Windows, the files MS Ofc, video card, keyboard & mouse records, Internet browsers, contact lists, etc.

My plans were to take stripped this old HD, after defragmentation and clone through for the Sandisk SSD, so it will start quickly.

My first concern is to clean the SSD drive that has the Windows 7 barebones.
    Can I just reformat?

Any other considerations that I missed?

You can re - format the disk and run clone on it, if you don't want to keep of course.

The situation you describe seems feasible for me

  • How to reformat a hard drive

I had a 500 GB with a damaged file system.  I used a program that allowed me to copy all my files back, but the drive does not work in my computer.

I thought that since I copied all my files on I can just reformat the drive, backup.  Well, I reformatted it and now it is 465 GB.  Accessible through station work, but even in disk management it says that there are no unrecognized partitions that are occupying this space.

How can I completely reformat the HDD to 500 GB?

Nothing is missing. You see two different ways to define a "gigabyte".  Drive manufacturers commonly use one that gives the highest number.

From a technical point of view, a gigabyte is 1.073.741.824 bytes (1024 x 1024 x 1024).  But drive manufacturers say a gigabyte is 1 000 000 000 bytes.  A disc that is advertised as '500 GB' was 50,000,000,000 bytes, which is technically 465,66 GB.

  • Rig crashes even after reformatting, heavy registry problems.

Hello, I am building this computer in Dec 07, and it was working well until recently. I came one day at home in a very annoying virus and decided to just reformat since AVG and such could not find it. After that I managed to do reformat there great for about a week, then I started to have increase the registry errors, files missing, things like that. I tried to correct as I will, but many seem to just keep coming.

I am now at the point where I can't complete the Windows Update, is now telling me to do it because when it restarts the login screen does not load. I'm that attribute to a facility missed some video drivers. When I will not start I have 5-6 errors in a line saying that various registry files are missing. I tried sfc/scannow, and it fails to end at 52%, as many others. /CHKDSK does not resolve the problem. Run the Vista installation CD and tried all the options such as the Startup Repair and repair memory (forget what it's called). My internal Sata HDD is also detected as removable storage among other issues. I'm running out of ideas as to why it is so bad that my HD or RAM is corrupted somehow. Any comments would be great.

    Hi Stolemyname,

    1. are you able to boot into Windows?

    2. have you made further changes on the computer after reformatting the hard drive?

I suggest that you scan and remove any viruses or computer malware infection and check if it helps.

The scan below only works on the 32-bit version of Windows

    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

You can use the Microsoft security essentials to scan your computer

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Also, check if the problem persists in safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

Restart the computer to return to normal mode

    I hope this helps!

    Hello

Formatting/reinstalling is overkill. A bit like buying a new car because you have a flat tire.

To reinstall, you can use either the volume of recovery or the recovery disc, both should work pretty much the same. In general, the product key is located on the system like a sticker (on laptops usually on the bottom). If you can't find yours, you should contact the provider or your network administrator (and in fact, if there is a working system, you should contact them before doing anything).

Before you do this right, you can try this: click Start and type CMD. Right click on the menu entry that appears and choose "Run as Administrator". Click on continue in the UAC prompt. From the command line, run:

    ipconfig/release

    ipconfig/flushdns

    ipconfig / renew

Allow everyone to finish (return to the command line) before proceeding to the next. When you are finished, close the command prompt. See if that helps with your problems of connection.
