KB947821 August 2011 vista

You will get the list with the patches installed tomorrow...

OK, that will help you, but I'm sure I knew probably causing your problems:

1. you had to 4 four updates for .NET Framework 4.0 [two security updates & two performance (think: fixed bugs) updates] and, I believe, a 1 security for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 (for example, KB2539633) in the 'tail '... Update as well as KB2559049, KB2567680, KB2563894, KB2556532 and maybe a little more!

We have learned that more .NET updates can take 30 to 45 minutes or more to load completely. So with 5 five updates to .NET in the queue, it could take as long as 45 x 5 = 225 minutes (4 hours!) for those who updates only to install!  And that assumes that the HARD drive is not busy doing something else (for example, the current Linux process).

=> Every time you have used the system restore since ~ 09 August, you have stopped the installation queue and essentially to facilities to square.

2. Add to all this "churning" that McAfee applications are notorious for not upgrading properly & you got a real mess on your hands.

I'll have more to say about all this (and offer valuable advice) after reading your next answer.

[On a personal note: I look FORWARD to the UPDATES of .NET! ]

Thanks for the comments Robear.  My apologies for taking so long a list of updates and patches, but I had problems to enter the list.  I would like to get the half thanks to enter in the list and then the computer freezes up.  I wish there was a way to copy and paste the list.  Would have made life a little easier.  In any case, I made a copy Θcran and pasted in JPEG format, the content of which I then typed in a text once I'm back to the Linux partition.  Here is the list of the updates that were installed after August 8.

I hope this is useful.

Ed.

    Hello

Because you have tried all the steps of troubleshooting and still faces questions, I suggest you do an InPlace upgrade using the Installation of Windows Vista disc.

Note Run a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer. However, before you perform an Inplace upgrade, you can take a backup of important data. In case of a worst case scenario, you may have to reinstall all the programs. Make sure that you back up personal data to disks or other external storage devices before performing an upgrade on the spot. To perform an upgrade in-place, follow these steps.
    a. close all running applications.

    b. Insert the Windows Vista DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.

    c. in the settings window, click install now.

Note If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:

Click on start and type Drive: \setup.exe in the box to start the search.

Note The placeholder drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD.

    List programs, click Setup.exe.

In the settings window, click install now.

    a. click go online to get the latest updates for installation (recommended).

    b. type the CD key if you are prompted to do so.

    c. in the "Windows Installer" page select the operating system you want to update or Inplace.

    d. click Yes to accept the Microsoft software license agreement.

    e. on the which type of installation you want? of the screen, click upgrade.

    f. when the installation is complete, restart your computer.

For more information, please see the link:

How to perform an upgrade on the spot on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

Once the upgrade has completed, you must activate your copy of Windows Vista.

For more information about how to activate Windows Vista, see the following article:

  • Download device driver August 2011

    Hello

I downloaded the device drivers for August 2011 this week by http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2602/lang/en and it wasn't what I expected.

I thought I'd have a setup.exe file to run that install device drivers, but instead have downloaded a load of files for all types of software from National Instruments.

Am I missing something or is this not fair?

    See you soon

    Chris

    Hi Chris

I have verified this behavior with the Downloader of device drivers OR 2012.08 and am convinced that it is the standard for device drivers download procedure.

What you get in this download is a list full of all our device drivers, some of which you will need to install for your application and a little of that you won't need.  Providing you with a MSI file for each driver, you are able to choose which you want to install the device drivers.  It's probably a better way to get to install these drivers, you will not unnecessarily want to download all available device drivers.

You can also download drivers on our website as and when you need it.

    Kind regards

You may need to install one at a time to find the problem, we

Make sure that you do not use Windows Update to install the drivers of 3rd material part

Find them directly in the hardware manufacturer

and when you see the problem update right click on it - UAC prompt - then hide it

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial140.html

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

You can use the latest version, Firefox 5.0.1. Look at the system requirements carefully to be sure that only what is necessary, especially the Pentium 4 processor and enough RAM since many XP systems came with only 256 MB. • MASTERED OPTION IS GRAYED OUT WHEN YOU TRY TO BURN A HOME PC PREM BRAND NEW VIRGIN DVD + R ON VISTA 32-BIT

Due to virus I had to rebuild PC using the RECOVERY partition on hard drive. All windows updates have been applied to date (August 2011). Before the virus problem (July 2011) WAS able TO SELECT THE "MASTERED" OPTION WHEN YOU are GOING to USE WINDOWS TO BURN a VIRGIN DVD + r. NEW once AGAIN, this WORKED BEFORE, NOW THE MASTER OPTION IS GRAYED OUT.  I have a brand new DVD + R blank and tried several of them thinking it was the disk (I've used this same brand (magnavox) DVD + R 4 years now never this problem of the "controlled" option is grayed out.) I use the same DVD burner which came with the PC and it allowed me to select the option "Mastered" last month (July 2011). I am using Windows HomePrem 32-bit OS (originial system that came with PC and this allowed me to select the mastered option last month. I applied all the updates Win at present. I have no other problems with the PC. Once again, driving the nail: this WORKED BEFORE, last month on the exact same hardware and the software/OS (Juillet2011), then why this option appears GRAYED out now?  This question has been asked before and 'experts' simply stressed totally USELESS MS pages showing how to select either under control or direct - I DO NOT NEED THIS HELP as I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO SELECT either option and what each is for. Also the other 'fixed' DOES NOT APPLY to this situation. (Do NOT send me to the following links because they DO NOT ANSWER to THE QUESTION: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-hardware/burn-a-disk-mastered-is-unavailable-grayed-out/9eb41f09-1778-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?page=1&tm=1312314316719#footer or http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-sound/mastered-format-option-grayed-out/aee1469f-1095-436c-9f12-acce80c2bb99.) These 2 links DO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION, so answer the question, do not send us in circles, always looking for the answer.  How SIMPLY THE QUESTION IS: Fix us the radio button for 'Mastered' so that it is NO LONGER GRAYED OUT when you insert a brand new, clean the DVD + R in my DVD burner (same that I had for years, which worked before) on my Vista 32 bit OS HomePRem? I have a host of (222 blank GB) of disk space and a lot of RAM (4 GB) and again I WAS able TO select the "mastered"option before my restoration." Help!

  • "Code" - no (on MBA 2011) photo images

    2011 Macbook Air

    OS: El Capitan 10.11.4

Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384

There are about 2 1/2 weeks (mid March 2016), when I go to look at a picture in preview, or just move the cursor to the bottom of the lists of jpg is to get a quick look on the right side in the Finder, the photos appear briefly and then are completely scrambled.  Looks almost like a Jackson Pollock painting.  Once that starts to happen, I can't see the pictures more.  Note that these are in my pictures, Google Drive or Dropbox (Google Drive and Dropbox) folder from the Finder window, not through Safari or elsewhere.  I don't use iPhoto much unless I'm editing or making a slide show.  When I hit this problem, I forgot to see if it occurs in iPhoto.

So far, I've been able to return to normal with a reboot, but I don't want to do that all the time.  I'm afraid that my graphics hardware has an intermittent problem and might be dying a slow death.  I also wonder if this is a known flaw to the Macbook Air of 2011 (that I bought in August 2011).

Here are 2 examples.  Any help and advice is appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hello lynnelovestorun,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

From your description and screenshots you provided, I see that you see some pixelated artifacts on your screen after scrolling pictures in a Finder window.  To help isolate the problem and determine if it is a hardware or software problem, please start by trying to reproduce this problem in safe mode:

    1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.

    2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

    3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.

You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

    4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

To exit safe mode, restart your Mac, but no press during the startup.

OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode

If the problem persists in safe mode, and then create a new user on your Mac and again try to reproduce the problem.

How to test with another user account

You can find out if unexpected behavior is related to the user file or a parameter in trying to reproduce the problem to a different user account. This process includes creating a new user account, connect to it and test for the issue.

    Create a test user account

    1. In the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
    2. Click the users and groups in the System Preferences window.
    3. Click the lock icon and enter an administrator name and password.
    4. Click on the button Add (+) below the list of users.
    5. Choose a type of user in the new pop-up menu.
    6. Give the user a name and first name, account name, and password.
    7. Click OK.
    8. Close the System Preferences window.
