Kernel panic when starting on Solaris 10 ISO U10

When booting on a Solaris 10 ISO I get the following immediately after the SunOS and lines of Copyright are out and it goes no further.

Panic [cpu0] / thread = ffffffffbc28340: _

According to http://PartnerWeb.VMware.com/comp_guide2/search.php?testConfig=16 & action = base & deviceCategory = Software ESXi supports all versions of Solaris 10. It's supported for Solaris is the only reason that I am interested in it on a free solution. Someone has ideas?

How much memory did you give the VM?  I think that recent versions of Solaris requires a minimum of 1.5 GB.

Well, I just had to update my corporate network password, so I was disconnected my Windows 7 VM and then signed back with the new AD password. Everything is connected normally. I went to suspend the virtual machine and about two seconds after, I get the beach ball which do not spin, then a kernel panic and my MacBook Pro that it recharges.

After restarting, I close all unnecessary applications, go to the Fusion 5.0.2 still once, start my Windows 7 VM (which is now Windows notification was not closed down properly I want Mode without failure, etc - I'm saying no, start Windows normally).

I connect to the computer virtual (and network), using the new word password and all is well.

I hit the pause button to pause the machine and I get the same beach ball frozen, panic the kernel and reboot my MBP.

The kernel panic reports that VMware Fusion is the offending application. I can't otherwise plays a large part of the Journal report. And I don't know how to recover if they stored somewhere on my machine.

Can anyone help? Should I uninstall and reinstall Fusion 5? I'm not sure that the change of password is not important, but I don't know there is something interesting in the newspaper report that would indicate where to start...

(also, when checking for updates to Fusion via the menu merging, I get a box that says that VMware Fusion could not check the updates. A certificate error for the update server. Check your internet settings - internet bonnefin works very well, since I'm entering this post on the same computer.)

I worked with KarriC offline to understand the panic of the host.  It turns out that we have a solution already in place to answer the question; It will be delivered in the future updates to the merger.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation, KarriC!

  • 10g Universal Installer kernel errors when installing on Solaris 5.10

    Hi all

I tried to install Oracle 10 g on a Solaris 5.10 (32-bit), in accordance with the official Oracle Documentation for a few days now. It seems that the Universal Installer fails it's pre-installation steps and throws error in the following kernel parameters:

    Audit of 4294967295 = shmsys:shminfo_shmmax; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmsl = 256; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
Full version. The result of this review is: failure of < < < <

I followed the Oracle Documentation that says to change the kernel settings using control resources center. To do this, I already have a project 'oracle' user 'oracle' was awarded to:

Oracle of $ id - ap
    uid = 100 (Oracle) gid = 100 (oinstall) groups = 100 (oinstall), 101 (dba) projid = 100 (oracle)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are snapshots of the prctl command on the current state of the kernel parameters:

    For the verification of shmsys:shminfo_shmmax = 4294967295; no entry found. Failure of < < < <

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - shm-memory - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - shm-memory
    the privilege 254MB - deny-
    system 16.0EB max deny-

The recommended Oracle value is 4 GB - I expect check Universal Installer fail to do this, so I change the setting using the installation of control of resources by logging in as root in a new terminal and maintain an oracle session active.

    # prctl - n v Project.Max - shm-memory - 4 GB - r-i oracle project

I see that the parameter has been set correctly when I do:

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - shm-memory - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - shm-memory
    4.00 GB privilege - deny-
    system 16.0EB max deny-

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    For the verification of semsys:seminfo_semmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - sem - IDS - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - sem - IDS
    privileged 128 - deny -.
system of 16.8 M max deny-

The recommended Oracle value is 100 - I don't expect this setting Universal Installer verification failed

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    For the verification of shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - shm - IDS - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - shm - IDS
    privileged 128 - deny -.
system of 16.8 M max deny-

The recommended Oracle value is 100 - I don't expect this setting Universal Installer verification failed

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also when I try to run the command:
    $ prctl - n Project.Max - sem-nsems - i project oracle

    I get:
prctl: unable to get control of the resources for Project.Max - sem-nsems: invalid argument

Oracle recommends that I have to set a value of 256.

After the implementation of all this, I still get the following errors of the Universal Installer:

    Audit of 4294967295 = shmsys:shminfo_shmmax; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmsl = 256; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
Full version. The result of this review is: failure of < < < <

Now, when I change the kernel settings by editing the file/etc/System without even a reboot that I can see all my nucleus Universal Installer checks as adopted.

Not sure if I'm missing a crucial step when configuring the kernel parameter using the installation of control of resources?

    ~ Somjit

This is a bug in YES.
YES looking for/etc/System to check the setting of the parameters of the kernel, but this file is not used (by default) in Solaris 10
He must check the adjustment of the parameters of the kernel using the prctl.

    MetaLink Note 363436.1

    workaround is to
    . / runInstaller - ignoreSysPrereqs
or that you already have, edit/etc/System as well.

  • [Windows 7] When using NAT kernel panic

    Hello

I use VMWare Fusion 4 on my Mac with Mac OS X Lion. My VM is a Windows 7 x 64.

My problem is that I get a WIndows 7 x 64 kernel panic when using the NAT mode. This kernel panic appears when I run Steam. Sometimes it happens immediately after the launch of Steam, another time it crashes later.

Also, I can't use the bridge mode so I need NAT. If I'm in Bridge mode, steam works and I get no kernel panic, but I lose my internet connection on my Mac after the virtual machine is stopped.

Additional information: I only got a real Ethernet adapt (no wifi card). This kernel panic with steam also occurs with Parallels Desktop 7.

And I can't post any kernel.logs because it does no writing in newspapers.

I don't know what to do now. In this State, VMWare Fusion is unusable for me, but I'd really like to work with her.

    Thanks for any help!

    Greetings,

    xxmacmanxx

PS: I already tried to forward all ports in NAT.conf that may need to Steam. It changed nothing.

Hi xxmacmanxxand welcome to the VMware communities!

Looks like something in the host's network stack (hardware, drivers, firewall) has a problem, and it is that 4 of VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop 7, when it is used with steam in the comments, will create the conditions necessary for its failure.  I guess the loss of connectivity with the bridge has the same causes as the panic of the kernel with NAT and fixing set probably both.  I'm not aware of any previous reports of similar problems, so I guess that the problem is something specific to your configuration.

It is very rare that you don't get a report panic on reboot... it would be more useful to have this panic report.  What Mac model you have?  Which exact versions of Mac OS 10.7.x, VMware Fusion 4.x and Parallels Desktop 7.x do you use when it crashes?  Just interesting related to the network 3 rd-party packages installed?  You can try to install available updates and see if that helps?

Apple website contains a document with instructions generic to troubleshoot a kernel panic.  You might want to try these steps too, if you haven't done so already.

    See you soon,.

  • Kernel panic reproducible when using VMWare Fusion and Cisco VPN

I can reliable reproduce a kernel panic when I use VMWare Fusion and Cisco VPN set.

Using either done alone causes no problem.

I'm on a mac book pro using the latest updates from Apple for Leopard.

My question is: How can I report this to VMWare without having to pay for support?

When I go to the VMWare fusion support page he wants me to pay for an incident.

I really do not want to pay them to help solve a kernel panic.  (They pay me .)

Announcing the details here (don't forget to join the panic.log as in HOWTO: ask (and answer) Questions) will work.

  • Kernel panic causes of Spotify

    Hello!

After months without kernel panics, I started to experience on a regular basis, about a week ago. Crashlog

I did some research and discovered that the problem apparently comes from a conflict between Spotify and the OS X Firewall.

Spotify is aware of the problem, except the claims that the bug is on Apple's side. Also, they say that they were in contact with Apple developers who are aware of this.

So far, the only solution is to disable the firewall from OS X, which I really don't want to do.

Really, I'd appreciate if this problem could be solved!

    Thank you!

    Julius

For what it's worth, looks like a person of Spotify is full of it.

I run Spotify on three different Mac running OS x 10.11.x, the active firewall and Spotify has never caused a Kernel Panic, I noticed in all cases.

  • USB air card causing kernel panic only when you run Merge 4.1.1

I got from many kernal panics when Plug and unplug an aircard for Sprint USB 3 G / 4G Wireless U250 Sierra when I merge 4.1.1 also running on Lion 10.7.2. The card taken aircard inside and outside without any problem in Leo until I opened the merger and works very well. When I do I immediately get the kernel panics. It made me lose many files on the virtual machine since the last snapshot, I had was at the end of November 2011. The Genius Bar told me that it was caused by Fusion and contact VMware or Sierra Wireless for help. I would use the card aircard on Lion and Fusion, but if I have to I it will cut merge if I have to and if possible. I see the report appear in the parameters of Fusion as a USB connection just before it crashes. I have attached the last log of kernel panic I. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

I solved the problem on my Macbook with rachidoss tip!  I am writing this post now using my Sprint air card that I plugged in while the merger was running - no kernel panic!

Angelsfan1, here's what you need to do:

    1. Install the SmartView 2.6
    2. Open Finder and go to system > Library > Extensions
    3. Copy the Beceem kext on your desktop and then trash the one installed in the Extensions Directory
    4. Right-click on the kext that you copied and "show the contents of the package.
    5. Open the file info.plist with TextEdit or another editor
    6. Carefully remove all the 28 entries following 2 lines:
    7. IOMatchCategory
      com_beceem_BeceemAppleWiMAXAdapter
    8. Save the file.
    9. Install updated to the kext.  For this you will need a free kext Installer.  I used Kext drop, but there are tons of free.
    10. The newly installed kext should now appear in the system > library > Extensions Directory.
    11. Reset
    12. SmartView open and connect!

Thanks again for the tip and all the research done by your team of rachidoss!  And thank you for starting this thread Angelsfan1!

  • Starting from El capitan kernel panic

    Hello

I contact you about a trouble that I've held since the mid-2015 (update to El Capitan). I can't reboot my Macbook Pro Late 2013...

When I restart my Macbook pro, the progress bar is very low and finally stop at 75% of the process and the Apple logo is replaced by the logo of kernel panic.

The only way for me to reuse my Macbook is to recover a partition TimeMachine or reinstall Mac OS from the recovery session. In the case of boths I recover all my data (this is the reason why I waited so long to create this topic).

I tried to find the newspaper unsuccessfully kernel panic. After the reinstallation of Mac OS, I tried with the "console", but the only report I found is a .diag and not a .panic

I think the .panic was clear during the resettlement process, so I tried to restart, took place the kernel panic and then reboot in recovery mode and try to find it with the terminal, but without success...

So thanks for your help and sorry for my bad English.

Bye and have a nice day.

Know that if you have installed Eltima syncmate?  Who will crash CBS at startup.

-checked the material through computer test = all very well

-re-installed the OS form scratch and re-installed programs.  Have stayed on El capitan and did not improve with Sierra still.

-panic happened once when I tried to use a cc design program.  Used CS6 version and it was very good.

-panic occurred when I tried to open my library lighroom. Installed LIghroom Cs5 (old version) and started a new library - has worked

-use of regular program is very well: e-mail, web surfing, viewing

  • Can someone decode this for me kernel panic error message please?

I had some problems recently with my 13 "MacBook Pro, Early 2011. I was able to resolve most of them between the forums and the Genius Bar, but there is still a persistent that even the Genius Bar can't seem to understand. Often, my computer freezes and restarts itself, and recently I had the window "your computer restarted due to a problem". I know kernel panic can be software or hardware related. I just wiped my hard drive (third-party SSD), reinstalled the OS X and restored from a Time Machine backup (but doesn't not restore any network or personal settings, as I was told by the Genius Bar help ensure no bugs/corruptions that affected my machine were installed). A complete hardware and software diagnostic was managed by Apple, where the only problem they found was that they could not read my hard drive and I have recommended replacing the hard drive slick, that I had let them. However, my problem: I have yet to have another random reboot with the new cable, but I am always starting gel, delay and slow speeds. I understood the message of the most recent kernel panic error, but I have little idea how do make sense. If someone could decode it for me and let me know what you think caused the kernel panic, I would be grateful!

Quick notes (it may or may not be useful): I also installed new third-party RAM me, updated 4-8 GB. I also have problems taking videos on Photo Booth. When I do, app causes my computer to lag, and the video does not correctly record (late of video development, multicolor screen during playback, not only audio video, etc.). Check the video card came back clean well.

I'm not sure regarding the panic itself 100%, but the symptoms you describe, I'll try to put first the original RAM if you, as a test. Also try a SMC reset: reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac - Apple Support.

Are you looking for you other symptoms related to graphic design?

If so, you must make an appointment at the genius Bar in an Apple store for a thorough evaluation. Don't forget to ask them to run the VST test. If this test detects a problem, you may be eligible for a free repair program - but your Mac must meet ALL requirements to qualify.

  • Several kernel panics

My MacBookPro has had several panic the kernel for a few weeks (or more)... I was always using Yosemite because when I updated to "El Capitan" last year my Mac became unstable and very slow, I ended up changing his hard drive...

I am the current problem is that I was still with Yosemite, so I decided to do a clean install... Then I went to the App Store to search for updates, while the iMovie update a kernel panic was produced again...

I had a several times random kernel panics. I asked the cover of my MBP and I thought he went to sleep. When I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't start until I plugged in the AC adapter. Then he hit me with the infamous kernel panic message.

This is the report that was generated. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
