Keyboard causes Vista hang on startup/gel when it is plugged

So I seem to have a rather unusual problem.

When I boot vista and my Wired USB keyboard Logitech is plugged, Vista hangs at a black screen after that bar loading screen and my optical USB Wired mouse green turns off (in safe mode it seems to hang crcdisk.sys).  If I don't have my wired keyboard but I have not my wired mouse Vista starts fine but when I try to plug in the keyboard Vista crashes and I can't move the cursor.  It doesn't seem to be a work autour: if I leave the mouse and the keyboard unplugged and plug them in to at about the same time after that Vista starts, both work very well.  In fact, I can unplug the keyboard and reconnect it back with no problem.

I recently bought a new hard drive and had to install Vista on it.  This problem appeared to occur at the time, I installed SP1 and persisted in my current state to SP2.

I tried to update the drivers while the keyboard works by both windows as well as search download driver of Logitech Web site.  I do not have another keyboard I could try, but it worked well before re-installing my Vista and works fine on my laptop (which is running XP).

Any ideas?

Of course, looks like it's maybe the keyboard if the drivers are up-to-date.

  • KB2479628 apparently causing Windows hang at startup

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could offer some advice on how to solve a problem, I'm going to.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit and downloaded all updates published on 8 February. Initially, I tried to install everything but once done the pc couldn't make it past the windows splash screen at startup. When I installed them one at a time, I reduced the problem to KB2479628. I looked through the forum already and although I see some tips issued for problems related to this update none of this quite fits. Can anyone help?

There is one other thing that may be relevant; When using system restore after failing once more install KB2479628 Windows Update displays this update according to the availability but also KB2485376 even if it is listed as a successful installation in the history of my update.

Thanks in advance for the help,

    User interface.

EDIT: To add, I use the free version of AVG on a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I was using Norton anti-virus, but I am almost certain it was before me formatting my hard drive before installing Windows 7

  • Windows Vista hangs at startup

I had a problem with Windows Vista in the past months where it hangs on a blue screen or crashes at startup. Usually, I need to restart the computer several times before I'm finally able to get on the desktop and then it works fine after that. I went as far as when you run a restore complete system twice, but the problem persists. Thinking that maybe that's a hardware problem, I ran a diagnostic equipment on the memory, video card, hard drive, motherboard and all other hardware components but the diagnostic equipment can find nothing wrong.

  • Live Family Safety Service Windows causes my Vista computer to hang at startup

My computer hangs at startup / commissioning for about 5 min.  This happens only to start initial and not when the disconnection / log - on different users, only the initial start-up of the machine.  Event Viewer identifies the above error.  How can I fix it?

I solved this on Vista by changing the startup type of the Service Windows Live Family Safety from automatic to manual. You do this by using the computer management tool accessed through the control panel and the Administrative Tools folder. The service starts always but by another action.

  • Problem at startup with Vista - hang at crcdisk.sys - green bar still there

    Hello

I have a big problem and I'm not able to find a problem.

My laptop (Lifebook, Fujitsu A6200) always hang at startup when the green bar with the windows logo is moving (I restarted after 3 hours).

When I starts in Mode safe, it hangs on CRCDISK. SYS. I left it run for 2 hours and it restarted somewhere in this period.

I tried the Drivers and applications of restore disc that came with my laptop and it never found problems. I ran the startup of more than 8 hours repair and the balance sheet was not finished.

I plugged my hard drive on another PC so I can access my data correctly, it is not a hard drive problem.

I have not installed any application or any new hardware in the weeks before the problem appeared with the exception of the automatic updates of Windows. I don't think that the problem is a hardware problem.

If possible, I don't want to reinstall windows.

    Thanks for your help!

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Step 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...) Except the keyboard and mouse and then start.

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.  Then get any drivers\software update for the device.

Step 2: Use system recovery tools to fix the problem, to access system recovery tools. To do this, follow the steps mentioned in the link below:

How to access the System Recovery Options menu?

    See also the link below

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/make-system-repairs-from-the-Windows-recovery-environment-from-Windows-Vista-inside-out

    (a) System Restore: put the computer to an earlier point in time when the computer was working fine.

    (b) order to access Windows Recovery: run the disk check to repair bad sectors on the hard disk.

At the command prompt, type chkdsk /f and then press ENTER.

Now, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER.

Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

    (c) run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool

Key on the keyboard does not work in firefox box when you type in the web site, but it works everywhere else?

Try Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.

A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • You can open the mode without failure of Firefox 4.0 + by pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.

Do not choose anything at the moment, just use 'continue in safe mode.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.

If it's good in Firefox Safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

Can be caused by an add-on to the AVG.

  • HP Envy 700 060: HP Envy 700 060 hang at startup "prepairing auto repair.

I would be grateful for any help?

Took me to upgrade to a HP Envy 700 060, this work very well when I book in windows, however, I'm using Linux Mint 17.2.  When I put the hard drive in the PC, it hang at startup ' repair automatic Prepairing.  I can book for the CD of Linux mint and see the files on the Linux disk.  What I want to do is boot in window 8.1 with installed theLlinux drive, then make a copy of the files on the hard disk, Linux, before reinstalling the Linux mint.

That's why does anyone know how to disable HP auto repair facility so it starts in Windows?

Note in the Bios, it seems not possible to book specifically from a hard disk, the option appears to be limited to my latest Bios PC options

Grateful for any help or suggestion

He sees the Linux bootloader and tries to fix it. You need to install your OS' are in conjunction with each other. Perhaps you could try booting from a floppy disk to repair GRUB and see if you can not solve the bootloader to enable either Windows or Linux at startup but that is the only way I know Windows and Linux running side by side... have GRUB (the Linux boot loader) on the main hard drive and it comes up with an option to start. If you want to run the OS' are independent, disconnect the drive that has only the other OS on it.
