My Dell computer hangs at startup
Original title: Vista problem or hardware - I could blame either...
My Dell Dimension E520 hangs at startup. The system messages and normally gets to the start-up or Startup Repair option. Choose, either takes me to a black screen. If I restarted and press F8 for boot options - Safe Mode, Safe Mode prompt command and last good all take me to a black screen. When I put in the system restore disk (dvd) and boot on the DVD. The loading bar files Windows fills then remains on the screen. Then I put in the DVD of the Dell Diagnostics and boot from the DVD. DRMK Version 8.00 loading appears and remains on the screen. I have a proposal to solve the problem, but I would like a confirmation of my assumption.
Hello
Remember to make changes to the computer before the show?
Remove all external devices connected to the computer except the mouse and keyboard, and then start the computer to check if you are able to boot.
Method 1: I suggest that you try the system recovery option system restore and check if it solves the problem:
What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?
Note: you can also try the other options if the system restore is not enough.
Method 2: I also suggest you to follow the link to fix the problem if the recovery options failed:
Windows Vista or Windows 7 unbootable, and the Startup Repair tool does not resolve the problem

HP Pavilion HPE h9-1100 Phoen: computer hangs during startup after installation of 970 GTX
The problem:
So here's the deal. I bought a new EVGA GTX 970 and installed in my office (after you have uninstalled the drivers for my old AMD GPU). When that I start it freezes on the BIOS screen. Press a button and the screen goes black; It is still frozen. Fan works in beast mode, until I turn it off.
What I tried:
- I checked for if sure it was well installed in the x 16 PCIE slot and connectors double checked.
- Checked to see if my motherboard supports UEFI (it does)
- Using another monitor using vga instead of as before display port.
- EVGA called and suggested they updated my BIOS on HP site (I think I'm already on the latest version)?
- Called HP and they said I have spend $250 to have a technician to work on it. (I'd rather not pay nearly as much as I paid for the card to install it if I can avoid...)
- Remove the battery on the motherboard for 5 minutes then replace and powered with the new graphics card.
None of these things had No effect. (with the exception of the money payer which I have not yet made). I put the old card (Radeon 7670) back in and it started late.
I'm kind of grasping at straws at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Model: h9-1100 (A5U16AV #ABA)
OS: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Motherboard: Gigabyte 2AC8 (970 (RX980) + SB950 chipset AMD)
Processor: AMD FX-8150 (3600,0 MHz)
BIOS: Ang_716 (05/04/2012)
I would like to know if there is relevant information, that I left out.
-edit
I tried to install the card in HP h9 1300 t friend (he also recently installed the same card) it worked fine, if the card is not defective. Then we installed his gtx 970 in my computer. Same results as before. Startup freezes on the bios screen.
Sure that I narrowed down it to a compatibility problem with my motherboard. I ordered a new one, the ASRock 970 M Pro3 AM3 + / AM3 AMD 970 + AMD SB950 6 x SATA 6 Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard (bite). I'll post here once again with results once it arrives here in a few days. I cross my fingers.
Hello
The level of the BIOS of your PC is not compatible with the video BIOS in the NVIDIA GTX 970. You need a BIOS to version 8 HP which is not displayed for your PC.
BTW - A replacement of the card mother not HP will require a new license of Windows.

The computer hangs during startup until after latest upgrade of Windows 7
My new Dell has a little less than 3 months and so far has worked like a dream. It runs Windows 7. The latest Windows updates, which there were 3 were installed as I stopped last night. When I booted the pc this morning he hooked up with the following message: "Operation Applying 51 51 (\Registry\Machine\Components\...) update".
The pc reacts more than anything, so finally, I manually turned off and restarted. The system returns to a previous Restore Point. Later in the day, I turned off the pc how he downloaded 3 updates (probably the same ones again) and the same problem occurred when restarting later. The pc is running McAfee SecurityCenter, which has been pre-installed again.
Please can anyone help with advice for this problem? Thank you.
Peter
Consider yourself lucky.
Because this update was 'critical', he went ahead and downloaded itself last night while I was asleep.
I woke up this morning to a glorious flashing cursor whenever I try to start. My computer still runs beautifully, now it does not even start.
Thank God for this update, otherwise I might be able to get for the photoshops I was working on that.
Before restoring personal windows comes to talk here about starting of system restore and all the other _ with windows that never worked for me once, I already tried it.

My friend just got an old laptop Gateway given to her. It has Windows XP installed. It has not been used for a few years and I tried to help him get updated. It has service pack 2 and I tried to back up the hard disk before you install Service Pack 3. After I downloaded the backup to a flash drive, I tried to save a copy of the report of the backup, but the computer froze. I turned it off using the power button, but whenever I try to turn it on, it starts and loads of startup programs but then crashes again. I am good with computers but not competent with jargon or anything more than a beginner with technical questions. We need to take it to a computer repair shop, or is there anything I can try?

If I bought a used computer, no matter who previously owned, the first thing I have with it would be to reinstall the operating system itself. You don't know how the computer has been maintained,
which has been improperly installed, what's missing, what virus and
There may be spyware, etc. I would not live with someone of another errors and problems, possibility of kiddy p0rn, etc, and I would not recommend anyone else to do.
Your choice of course, but in my opinion, you're playing with fire if you
do not reinstall Windows properly.Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

I recently picked up win defrag... I have windows xp and tried to put it in safe mode, and it froze. Now it is completely empty when I try to start :( I removed my hardrive and crossed norton key usb connected to another computer. It's still frozen... I'm on the right track? How can I manually remove the infected files from another computer? Please help-

Hi katkit,
1 did you stop defragmentation on the drive?
2. using Norton on another computer, were you able to remove the infected hard disk files?
3. do you get an error at startup of the system? You are on the right track if your hard drive is infected with the virus. However if you try to do something else, then I think not that it is a good idea. After scanning of the hard drive, connect it to the computer problem and start insafe mode.

Computer hangs at startup. Error quota.dll
I'm not very technically advanced with computers. Both my desktop computer (which I use rarely) and my laptop (which I use all the time) suddenly started to freeze at startup. I can use it in SafeMode only. I get the following error messages: 1) Local\Temp\nszBF6B.tmp\quota.dll I saw a RUN DLL eror.
(2) my Norton 360 gives an error message, but I can't read it because it is visually blocked by mistake #1 described above. In the corner of the box Norton 3035.2 and also something I see on "corrupted files".
(3) I have this message too when I look in the Device Manager on the "IR Consumer devices" (whatever they are)
This device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

I had been using Adobe Photo Shop Elements 7 a lot just before everything has frozen on me. If you can help me I would be very grateful. Thank you

recently upgraded to windows xp sp2 from sp1, now computer hangs at startup upward?
Someone has no solution to the freezing at the start up
If you have been running XP SP1 and everything just recently installed SP2, then I would be shocked to learn that your computer had not been infested with malware. XP SP2 has not been supported for some time now and there has been no updates released for XP SP1 or XP SP2. Without SP3 installed, your computer is a duck sitting for malware.
I suggest that get rid you your computer of malicious software to reformat and reinstall Windows XP. Then, immediately, before all else, install all the essential and important updates, including Service Packs.
Be sure to only install a good antivirus before you venture out to surf the internet.

Computer hangs at startup, when you enter the Office
I have a laptop Compaq CQ61. Whenever I connect to a profile, the computer crashes. I can't go on safe mode with network, no problem; but once I go on 'normal' start, it freezes almost instantly after logging into my account (there is no other account on the system). I tried updated/re-installing the drivers, but to no avail. I did an anti-virus (Avast) scan and nothing showed up. I run DirectX Diagnostic report, and he showed up nothing. Device Manager appears nothing unusual. However, Event Viewer gives me many mistakes in the critical, error, warning, Information, Audit success, Audit failure; However, none of them seem to directly affect the question of commissioning their playback (even briefly). Events that coincides with the start 'normally', according to the Manager of the events are wind ID 10-7000.
Hello
There might be a possibility of a conflict of software of third party causing the problem to occur. I would like you to put your computer in a clean boot state and check if the problem persists.

Live Family Safety Service Windows causes my Vista computer to hang at startup
My computer hangs at startup / commissioning for about 5 min. This happens only to start initial and not when the disconnection / log - on different users, only the initial start-up of the machine. Event Viewer identifies the above error. How can I fix it?
I solved this on Vista by changing the startup type of the Service Windows Live Family Safety from automatic to manual. You do this by using the computer management tool accessed through the control panel and the Administrative Tools folder. The service starts always but by another action.

Original title: computer hangs on restrting have to swich to then restart windows vesta 64 bit how to fix startup journal
Restart the problem have disc windows do not know how to make a boot fix
Hi John McAvoy,.
(1) since when are you facing this problem?
(2) you get an error message?
I want to clarify if this happens when you start Windows after logging in or before opening a session on windows.
Method 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...) Except the mouse and keyboard > restart the computer and check
If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any drivers\software update for the device.
Thanks and greetings

Computer hangs or freezes a few minutes after the beginning
Hi all
I hope someone has the knowledge to help me.
I have a Dell Vostro 1500, Vista Business x 32 installed.
In the last days:
* On a normal startup, the computer hangs after a few minutes.
I get either 'failure-security options' pop up or the computer crashes only the operation of the pointer.
The blue off the Task Manager CPU usage hard drive light will goes from 0 to 1% and stays there.I was able to copy information from a pop up that says I was saved from a fall BSOD:
Signature of the problem:
Problem event name: bluescreen
OS version: 6.06002.2.2.0.256.6
Locale ID: 1033More information about the problem:
BCCODE: f4
BCP1: 00000003
BCP2: 8F639608
BCP3: 8F639754
BCP4: 82A5FC30
OS version: 6_0_6002
Service Pack: 2_0
Product: 256_1* No problem starting and running programs and internet with ' SafeMode w / networking. "
* The only thing I added was a Microsoft Update in the last days.
I tried to do a system restore, but there is no system restore point.
I used the restore of the system about 3 weeks there due to the other Microsoft Update was also causing startup problems.
I didn't knowingly clear Points of system restore or turn off System Restore.* I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and I got quarantined {PUP. Optional.Sanbreel.A, PUP. Optional.Sanbreel.A, PUP. Optional.Instacore.A, PUP. Optional.Hold.A}
* I ran AVAST antivirus recently with no viruses listed, but not in the last days.
* Chkdsk fixed drive C by removing some entries and fixed a couple of bad sectors.
* sfc/scannow to block exactly 82% and I had to make a compromise difficult stop.
If someone is knowledgeable on how to correct the situation described above, please answer!
Perhaps it would be better for me to all my files on a memory stick or external hard drive simply copy and then reload Vista? Is there a disadvantage in doing this?
This way you do not uncover what caused the problem and you might find that you still have a problem.
so I can only perform simple tests troubleshooting with confidence.
It's exactly what I mean do you. You follow the instructions, the information and I tell you what to do next. Ads simple as one of the meercats said in the TV. You get a bonus in this way you improve your knowledge of the works of your computer.
We may be able to solve your problem yet more easily.
Please download and run ADWCleaner and download a copy of the report produced for your OneDrive. Delete everything it finds. :
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/I suggest you take the precaution to create a system restore point before running ADWCleaner, guard against unintended consequences. Select Start, Control Panel, system, System Protection, and then click the create button.
