  Hi, thanks for the response. I have a keyboard and shortcuts will turn off. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I did run by pressing Windows key + LeftShift. I did a few tests now and there is something to deal with the Windows key + Fn (dell laptop). After pressing that firefox combinations see keyboard. WinKey + LeftShift operate again. Thanks anyway!

  This model of laptop is not known to me, but after reading your ad I think the keyboard is defective and must be replaced. I mean what else you can do about it.

  Try to get the new keyboard and replace it. After that it all will again be OK.

  I tried to get an external keyboard (USB) to work with my Z830 running Win 7 (64-bit). I've tried three different keyboards to USB in ports and also a wireless keyboard.

  The keyboard works fine, but I can't the numeric keypad right of the keyboard to work.
  It allows me to move the screen IE when the NUMLOCK is turned off but when the NUMLOCK is turned on, it does nothing.

  I looked in the bios and changed the parameters relating to the features of legact and also the numlock option, but to no avail. The numeric keypad on the keyboard worked on other machines.

  Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  I'm not quite sure that all this, but my hypothesis is code KBC m is missing in the BIOS.
  Satellite/Portege Z830 keyboard does not support keypad so maybe that's the reason why the numeric keypad on the keyboard can not be activated.

  First of all, once you unscrew the keyboard, open the clip that secures it in place and reinstall the keyboard by ensuring that it is completely down. After that, now the flat cable in place, close the clip. Then, make sure that it is not lost and that it is seated correctly. Then turn on the laptop and see if it works. If this is not the case, try an external keyboard. If an external keyboard does not work, the keyboard on your MB controller is dead and you need a new MB. If an external keyboard works then your keyboard is dead, or the connector on the MB is dead. Best way to test is to try the first solution.   I firstly the LCD cable or secondary LED could be damaged, but if you don't see anything on an external monitor I tend to think it's a motherboard problem.

  Last thing you could try putting running a Live Distro Linux from a CD/DVD or USB drive, using Ubuntu or Linux Mint, for example.

  Suddenly, my keyboard doesn't work. Fn keys as reduce brightness works, but turn off the sound button doesn't work at all.
