Keyboard error - cursor jumps

While I type the cursor jumps sometimes at a different point in the text written to Ive or to another field in an e-mail message. Everyone knows similar?

This seems to happen only in outlook and in microsoft word while typing emails.

I have microsoft office professional 2010

Keith

Can't be a laptop with a stack of sliding t - it? I always disable mine because if you accidentally touch it while typing, you will see what you describe.

I hope this helps.

  • Cursor jump - is NOT a problem of keyboard!

Windows 8. My mouse jumps at the beginning of almost all fields of text every few seconds. Note that this is not random jumping - the cursor jumps only at the beginning of the field. I say "almost all" because this forum post is the first I've found where it does not. The problem never happens offline programs, the toolbar or login form fields. Only the fields of text in Firefox. Cannot duplicate in Chrome. I was typing stuff in my word processor and then copy and paste to get anything done on my blog or email. Restarted my computer, and then uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. No improvement. I tested and is not remotely to a keyboard problem, such as cursor more jump.

  • OS sound produce a high-pitched noise (M70-160) + keyboard cursor jumps

    Hello everyone,

I own a satellite M70-160 for about a year. There are two problems:
    (a) 15 days ago all the sounds of the o/s (for example when windows start/end, wheel etc) no longer works properly and began to produce a high-pitched noise. It's extremely annoying. I downloaded the realtek soundmax which only temporarily solves the problem. Now every time I have reinstall, when sound is shut down it works fine, but then again when I restart the computer it is working properly.
In addition this problem disappears and appears periodically and it seems that most of the o/s sound time is malfunctioning.

    (b) when I type fast in keyboard cursor jumps into other lines or bar tasks or made the selection of text etc. as there is a kind of shortcut (this problem is not related to the first as it appeared from the beginning).

I shouldn't forget to mention that I installed almost every new driver (might have missed one or two but it is highly unlikely)

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    (a) I have the same unit, but so far I didn't notice something like that. If this happens regularly, it makes the not so easy diagnosis. Try to test with different volume levels and also with headphones.
    (b) key combination while typing to disable using FN + F9 touchpad. Maybe you touch touchpad with your hand while typing so fast.

The last option you can try is updated BIOS. If you want to do this please READ the document how to do this.

  • Equium A200 1 HR - cursor jumps in text unexpectedly every few minutes

Immediately after the delivery of my Equium last summer, I noticed that the cursor jumped unexpectedly back sometimes. Does not seem to matter if it's a Word text or email. Contacted Toshiba support Northern and got after the answer:

    * According to our phone call I send you hereby the download link. Just click on the link and choose 'run '. Then reboot your PC and try again the function.

    Nordic support *.

But the problems persist. I'm a pretty fast typist, which may explain why more people are not a problem (?). And when I don't need to look at the keys as I type, the risk is, of course, my cursor jumps into my text without my noticing for several sentences... enough frustrating!

    Anyone experienced this? Other solutions?

OK, I know what the problem is.

The Synaptics touchpad does not include what is called a palm-control more. They abandoned their driver software. For some reason that I can't quite understand yet.

I do the same thing as you. I plant away on my keyboard only to realize that the text is inserted to midway up.

Palm control is basically a delay on the pavement, listening to your finger pressure. It is said to the computer when I type don't let my tap-click my cursor for a half second pad (or something like that). I got it on my other old computer manufacturer and it is very convenient for crash-away-typists like us.

I learned to type by looking at the keyboard and likes it that way. This worsens the problem more by me not noticing for a long time the cursor jumped.

Tonight, I am furious and went to Synaptics to know why they passed control of palm of new driver software. They do not treat Joe Public like me and you. Only the big boys.
In short, we have Toshiba to return to Synaptics and solve this problem. Which brings me here, who found your post.

The support guy who sent you this file I guess that did not really understand or put it down to a single driver (or other) corruption. We have already installed and reinstall it won't help.
So I know your problem is the same as mine.

Now, I went with the extras in the driver. Vista seems to hang bits of software. According to me, it's why the palm-check isn't there anymore. The software throws just an error indicating that you need a Synaptics touchpad to run this. A bit like a serial number of equipment to stop no Synaptics customers using their juicy software.

I really don't see Synaptics file form of verification of the palm software. But this is only speculation. They can do what they want with their software.

My best guess is the driver components running in the new Vista like they think that. Who stops at the palm working, check that gives us our little bug.

I know that vista puts things in the registry at different locations and the additional bits are looking for Synaptics reg - key allow its use. Who are there, but in the wrong place.

I'll send it to Toshiba Support now and lets hope they can get it fixed.
I guess that if you went back and said, this does not solve what they would have degenerated until someone figured this out. If this isn't the support guys fault entirely.

PS My mouse jumped about a dozen times during typing it yourself. The A200 is such a beautiful little machine. This seems a silly thing to mess it up.

  • Satellite P300 - cursor jumps back

    Hello

I have a Satallite P300 - 19 p and when I type after some works the cursur jumps to a place randomly in the text that I write. Is very annoying because I have to look at the screen all the time, I tried to type very slowly to see if I tap on a button by accident, but then it never happens.

If anyone knows if it is a fault, all other computers that I use if I hit a wrong key, I just get a bad character not the cursor jump to a point prior to writing

    Hello

I think you touch the keyboard as you type and so the cursor jumps to another post.

Therefore, you must disable the tapping function in the touchpad driver. After that, you can only use the touchpad for moving the mouse but not for the left clicking (tapping) more.
Check Control Panel > mouse > advanced settings.

Here, you can disable this feature.

    Check this box!

The laptop doesn t need the keyboard driver updates! The operating system uses a clean Microsoft driver and these drivers works and are 100% compatible.

  • Cursor jumps around erratically on dv-7-1245dx

When I use the keyboard on my dv-7-1245dx I can't type a sentence without moving the cursor towards where I was typing the cursor jumps around This happens in documents, e-mail and other activities. It was a problem when I bought my computer with Vista. Now, it's a major problem with Windows 7.

    Hello

Jumping cursor problem is one of the common problem especially seen in Windows Vista and Win 7 usually when you type in word or outlook. My previous experiences that I noticed that there is no solution for this problem right. You may need to try different steps, but can not say that we're going to fix it.

First of all, you can try these two steps that have worked for me in the past. If it does not solve the problem, there are other measures that we can try.

    1. Go to Control Panel ---> mouse---> Options of the pointer , and then uncheck "Hide the pointer during the strike". If this does not work then try turning off the score button if you have a

    2. If step above does not work then you may have to download and run this small program called Touchfreeze

Some solutions may include measures directly related to changes in the registry that can cause serious problems if not used correctly. Use the following steps at your own risk

  • Typing issues (cursor Jumping... moves my text to another sector while typing)

Someone please help with this problem!  Whenever I type my cursor jumps around and I have to keep going back and deleting and retyping.  Help, please

I have a sony VAIO and this problem is driving me crazy

    Hi Tim,.

You're using a laptop by chance?  If so, you can solve this problem by taking a quick glance to your touchpad options.  If you use Windows 7, click the Start button, type mouse in the search field and click on enter.  There should be an option to change the settings of the device for the TouchPad.  On many models, Synaptics is the creator of the TouchPad and has a tab of its own in the mouse properties.  If you do not see these settings, you will need to install the drivers for your manufacturers Web site.

For Dell machines, you can go to the support.dell.com website.  Select your model and you will find the driver in Input Device Drivers.  For Compaq/HP machines, go to support.hp.com, select your model and find the devices, keyboard, mouse and input.

I would like to turn off the tap option and raise the sensitivity PalmCheck option.   These are the first options I always change when I get a new laptop; Otherwise, I have the same problem.

    Hope this helps,

    Barbara

  • My laptop Dell Inspiron 1525... When typing, the cursor jumps around & inserts as I type

    Hello

Check with the manufacturer of system support, documentation in line, or forums as there
probably are shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

Dell - disable or enable the touchpad by using the access key

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touch pad-
The driver tab - click on Update Driver (which is may not make anything like MS is far behind certifying)

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in

The similar procedure on XP, Windows 7 and Vista is the same, except that we must

  • Guard cursor jumping around while I type

    Original title: keyboard

I type some words and all of a sudden, I noticed that the cursor jumps back and I find myself typing in the middle of my sentence.

It took me like 5 minutes just for this type. She tends to jump back only (not really before?) and its so annoying.

Has anyone encountered this situation and what solution did you find?

    Thank you

    Hello.

    Using a laptop?

In many cases when people feel things like that, it's because they rest their arms on or around the touchpad and touch accidentally while typing. Try typing something and don't forget to keep your arm clear of the touchpad to see if it has an effect any.

  • Cursor jumps across the screen.

While trying to navigate around my screen with my mousepad to laptop, the cursor jumps randomly offline.

    • ex: when you try to click on the scroll bar (on a Web page) at the bottom of the page, the cursor jumps to the top of the page.
    • ex: on the desktop, I'll move the cursor over an icon, and the cursor will move to a random point on the screen and continue to move in the direction my finger, said that on a new path.
    • Sometimes, the slider works very well.
    • The problem occurs when you use any program.
    • I don't have the problem "while typing, my mouse moves and clicks on".
    • The movement is just a quick jump from point a to point b. (not rapidly moving around screen clicking everything)
    • If you need more info leave me a message.

  • When scrolling or paging down, guard cursor jumping back to the top (occurs in all programs including email, words, etc.).

While I'm working in an application program, it seems that certain keystroke (s) (shortcut keys I'm not aware and not intention to use?) causes my cursor jump to the top of the page and getting stuck there. When I scroll or page down to go to the point where I want my cursor to continue working and entering text or data, it doesn't let me do; it jumps to the top of the page.  Simualtaneously, if I try to solve the problem by making CTRL + G to go to a page says, the view goes to very large print (more than 100%) as soon as I hit him CTRL and that's all that happens.   It often happens in Word and when it happens there, it does also in my e-mail and Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer software.  I havde printed the list of keyboard shortcuts to see if I can detect what I do when typing that can cause, but so far I have not been able to know what could be.  I don't see any description of this type of behavior associated with any shortcut key; and I don't know what keys are causing it (by time, it starts to occurring at that I don't know what type, I used maybe inadvertently).  Someone on my team to support the University suggested that maybe it's my mouse; I changed my mouse and it's the same thing.  The only thing is that I've not seen what pops up is when I use the ball of keyboard to navigate (not the mouse); Since I ususally only dispenses with the mouse by send away from home, I'm not even sure that it won't happen that way either.  M HERE to loss. It is very annoying since I have to close the file, I'm trying to stop the behavior. and sometimes it will not even do this, I have to open a session

  • When you tap on my new laptop, the cursor jumps around and letters are places in the words entered previously.

New laptop yesterday. When you type, the cursor jumps back and letters are placed in the words entered previously?

    original title: keyboard probkem

    wendyjjll,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

Most likely, the problem is due to the sensitivity of your touchpad.  Whenever you type, your thumb probably affects the touchpad with the cursor to another location where you type.  You can set the sensitivity of your touchpad, or turn off the tapping by going into settings start, Control Panel, mouse and keyboard.  If it is not under that, the manufacturer of the laptop most likely installed custom software to control the touchpad.  Let us know what kind of cell phone, brand and model, and we will be able to help you.
