Keyboard exhausted already?

So, I recently bought a 13 inch, Macbook air, around April, but it seems that the space bar and several of the keys are already exhausted, get a brilliant texture. Y at - it something I am doing wrong? I feel like they should not wear out so quickly.

Don't know what you describe? I got a Macbook Air for 2011, and my keyboard looks as it did when I bought it. Do you just a bunch of lotion on your hands?

Have you thought to do a keyboard overlay to protect the keys:

  • HP G6-2304AU - keyboard does not not two weeks after purchase.

    Hi all
Looking for a few hep on something that made me absolutely perplexed. I bought a HP Pavillion 2304AU G6, Win8 running, two weeks ago and since I bought the keyboard cut in and out on random intervals, even had some problems with the touchpad - no problem with the touchpad while more.
The keyboard now completely cut off and has since a few days now - I've done a good amount of troubleshooting but I can't seem to fix. NONE of the keys work, except for the function keys (F1 to F12), but esc, del, etc. which are also on the top of the keyboard do not work.
    I did the following:
    Restart the computer.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver as found on the HP site.
Did a reset, FULL of Windows 8.
Tried in safe mode, nothing helps.

The keys do not work in the BIOS.

I start University Monday and really hope I can fix this problem before this date :/

Thanks for all your help in advance,

    Jordan

If it does not work in the BIOS or Safe Mode, the keyboard is already defective.

Go back to where you bought it from and exchange it for a new laptop if you can, otherwise contact HP and put in place a claim under warranty.

In the meantime, you can use the onscreen keyboard.

With out of control (I'm on W7 machine now)

Open the window of the aps, right click and a button will appear at the bottom right of the screen _ all the aps.

Click on that and find Accessories > accessibility > on screen keyboard.

EDIT: On screen key board is simply in the window of "all points".

  • HP Pavilion g6 - 1191ev: replacement keyboard

Hello everyone and thanks for your support in advance.

I am owner of a g6 Pavilion - 1191ev. After about 4 years of use my laptop, it's normal I think, that sort of damage was caused to the keyboard of the laptop. I mean, taking off and reposition the touch of the keyboard, in order to clean beneath them with a jet of air, that unfortunately I broke three of the keys on my keyboard. It scared me to remove the others too, it was quite difficult to clean my laptop keyboard now. Therefore, I have to replace it with another keyboard.

After doing the replacement request, ask a technician, he told me that I would be able to buy a new keyboard to ebay.com, and it would cost me about $ 40 (not including shipping costs). Then I could be replaced by him.  In this context, I was wondering if it would be easy to replace by myself, at least do not have to pay for the replacement, because the cost of the keyboard is already high. Could you please guide me to replace the keyboard? There is no indication in the manual guide of the laptop that would help me to replace?

In addition, do you think it is rather a simple or a complicated process which should not be performed by a single user, but by an experienced technician? I ask because I would not cause 'collateral damage' to my laptop, trying to replace the keyboard.

Finally, I would like to know, what should I be careful when ordering a new keyboard on the internet. By that I mean, how would I find what is good keyboard for my laptop, and what would be suggested for this price.

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Keyboard Yoga 11 problems

I use the 11 Yoga (11 s not!) for three months now and there have been a few keyboard problems already before upgrading windows RT to 8.1. The portable physical keyboard in computer mode does not respond properly. Certain keys, in particular, a, s, d, k, l do not. I can hold the key for a long time, then suddenly a number of letters appear (as 'Pepe'). After a few updates, the issue seems to be resolved, particularly after the RT upgrade to 8.1, but then he started during a week or so, it does not seem to improve more. The physical keyboard is useless at the moment. I have tried many reboots, firmware and driver updates, nothing worked. Does anyone have any idea on this? Thank you very much!

    Hello

If you don't have a lot of documents, pictures etc on your hard drive, I suggest you to re - install the windows to check if this is the related issue of windows. If it is not an option, you can try to use windows restore.

If these don't work, could be material. I don't know if you can manage but removal/replacement of the keyboard connector can do the trick. for 'how' you can see the manual.

  • [T520] broken keyboard

    Hello

Today my keyboard started acting weird. My rush power button turns the screen 3 times and the right Alt is now "power button" (puts the computer to sleep in such a hurry, in turn it it held for more than 5 seconds, does not wake). This behavior is the same in Win7 (normal and safe mode), 12.04 Kubuntu and Ubuntu 10.04 live CD. AltGr is to function as button / stop before any OS is started. Other buttons seem to work well. What I had done before that happens is installed Kubuntu and keyboard wiped with wet paper (moist, not soggy). This keyboard is advertised as resistant to spills so some wet keys should not damage it. Another theory is that Kubuntu somehow messed something iside if this keyboard is programmable. This keyboard has already failed once a few moths ago when he began to place additional letters after a few keys but self repaired a few hours after.

In the Toolbox Lenovo think Vantage, there is the diagnostic tool to test the keyboard. It's the exit after pressing the power button / real stop:

    Alt Gr
    Left
    (Press and hold)
    Down
    Right
    Space
    /
    (Press and hold)
    (Press and hold)
    n
    b

Not exactly what you would expect.

    I got lost.

    Laptop is back.
Keyboard has been replaced. No further details on the way in which and why, just "broken."

  • Natural 4000 ergonomic keyboard that some keys do not work

I have natural 4000 ergonomic keyboard for about a year now on Vista 32 bit. The keys P, [---],--------do not work (using keyboard on the screen so you may be wondering). Just downloaded and reinstalled the latest drivers and still does not work. It's a software thing or my keyboard was just wrong?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Hi Savan,

Thanks for the reply, I would have thought that in a first time. I advanced and tried on a laptop and the same keys still don't work.

So assuming that the keyboard was already broken, I advanced and open. The fact that I learned a lot about the anatomy of a keyboard. Inside are four layers the rubber part were the keys strike and 3 layers of plastic, so did a quick inspection and noticed some dirt. Used some compressed air blower but the difficult part was cleaning between the 3 layers of plastic, I used a clean and dry cloth in the interval wiping and focusing on letters that were not work. While the keyboard is plugged in so I can test it and see if its working. And guess what, it WORKED. Following cleaning and re-assembled the keyboard. And works very well since.

I hope this info helps others, sometimes we think air powder top is enough to clean the keyboard, but a few times can get average dirt under these layers of plastic.

    Thank you!

no damage or anything spilt arrived at the keyboard

a usb cable keyboard and mouse works fine.

the keyboard and the mouse works fine on another computer with Windows XP. matter of fact, I type this message with the keyboard in question. I think that maybe a released hotfix is giving problems with a keyboard and wireless mouse. Please report it to anyone who is able to check that

    Thank you

He has been sending codes of keys repeated to the OS or does not at all. but never mind after a day of work, the keyboard and the mouse on another computer with Windows XP 32-bit, he just started doing the same thing. It takes time for it to happen so it looks like a hardware keyboard problem. already reports to microsoft to see if I can RMA if under warranty.

  • Disable the touchpad on a shelf when a keyboard is connected

It gets really annoying. I use a Samsung ATIV Smart PC, and whenever I have to enter my password, the touch keyboard appears EVEN when my real physical keyboard is already connected. In chrome, when I select a text field with my fingers, the touch keyboard arrives. No, I don't want to use the touch keyboard when I have a better physical keyboard already attached.

I'm not sure you understand what is my problem. I can't change anything about the keyboard on the touch settings.

What my problem is the following:

I have a tablet with a detachable physical keyboard.

When I do not have the physical keyboard are connected and that I select a text input field, the virtual keyboard appears. OK, that's normal.

However, when I select an input field with my hands I have no physical keyboard attached, the virtual keyboard displays always upward.

How to disable the keyboard to appear when I joined my physical keyboard already?

EDIT: I found this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_cp-performance/turn-off-touch-keyboard-windows-8/80cd2fd5-2ef0-40d5-866b-851b9bf95a3e which allows me to disable the touchpad, but is there a simple way to reactivate it with say a shortcut or an order?

Edit2: Nevermind that link did not help, my touchpad is back. It's really frustrating.

Edit3: So bad, I had to disable the service found. Now, put something to solve the service when I disconnect my keyboard.

  • How do you add new shortcuts keyboard for the ESTK?

    keyboard shortcuts.JPG

In many applications of our days, the user has the possibility to add new shortcuts keyboard beyond those that exist among the plethora of keyboard coming already prepackaged assignments. According to their number and the how an existing feature has been located on the keyboard, the user might have to deal with the conflict of the F2 key to their new macro shortcut assignment while making the assignment previous null.

The ESTK interface seems to have some of these features; for example, editing-> Preferences-> keyboard shortcuts, however, I am unable to find out where and how the user can add a new macro, and assign a keyboard shortcut.

In this example, everything I wanted to do was to decide quickly on a line or a block of comments from a script. Currently (CS6), the only options seem to be limited to Shift + Ctrl + K using this method will insert only / / ~ at the beginning of a line already has text on it and will not work on a new blank line.

How can we (CS6) ESTK user adds a new macro and assign it a keyboard shortcut?

I thank very you much for any answer.

    You can't, unfortunately.

  • Question on my laptop

My backspace does not work, when I try to go back he wound work, let me know what I need to do.

    Hey husband,

I agree with Mike (sometimes and I still need to have mine replaced under warranty); However, before concluding that you need a new keyboard which, if she is no longer under warrany is maybe a bit expensive (and more if you need help), I would check the Device Manager (Start / Control Panel / Device Manager) and see if they keyboard device driver works correctly.  If so, before ordering a new keyboard, I would first try to update the device driver for the keyboard (they should be available on the website of the manufacturer of keyboard).  I would also like to see if the manufacturer can help you with the following tests if you need help with them and also check to see if the laptop has a pre-installed aboard diagostics utility (or if there is one they have available to download) which can test the operation of the keyboard and maybe tell you for some where the shoe pinches.

Then I would try blowing compressed air in the main grooves (especially around the BACKSPACE key) to see if something got caught in there and who will identify and release the key.

Then, go to start / Control Panel / ease of access and to activate the on screen keyboard.  Check to see if it works.  If she has the same problem, it certainly isn't a problem with the hardware with the keyboard and the possibility of some type of operating system software problem increases.  If it works, then the possibility of a hardware or device driver problem increases and decreases the chances of an operating system problem.

If you have another ordinary USB keyboard you can set and use to the place they laptop keyboard, I will try this to see if the problem occurs with this keyboard that already worked very well - if so, the problem is probably not the keyboard, but something related and replace the laptop keyboard will probably solve the problem.  If this proves to be the case, please repost in the following forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/hardware?tab=all in addition to contacting the manufacturer to see if they can find alternative solutions (since at this point, I would be considering some kind of software problem-probably with the operating system).

Finally, I would say, if you can, remove the keyboard, clean with a tissue dry and VERY gently clean the keys of the keyboard under the keyboard (mainly key backspace) to replace the keyboard to see if it works now.

If you try everything before and everything points to a defective laptop keyboard, then replacement may be the only alternative.  Yet it is work first check these alternatives, as they can help identify the problem or solve problems stop you from going in the wrong direction when the results indicate that the problem is maybe if this is probably something else.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Bad source HP Envy 15-j126TX

I bought this laptop in February this year, and immediately I was disappointed by the generation of the laptop. The keyboard and the screen too easily bending position would become depressed (IE flexible) even when type without a lot of strength, which means that the laptop has been built using cheap materials and it's a big disappointment (my previous Acer in the same price range wasn't the best but at least it was built of sturdy materials and that I encounter this kind of problem).

The touchpad is also also very sensitive to the touch: I find myself having to type it several times to click on something. In addition, scrolling actions do not work in a few minutes after the start, but after a while it would work magically again. (I tried to switch between options two fingers and a finger, the two did not work). Is this a software problem or hardware fault?

Performance was also extremely disappointing. Of course I use a HARD drive, but an i7-4700MQ I expect my laptop to perform more quickly that he is doing. Chrome takes forever to open at startup (was it the HARD drive?), File Explorer often displays the Green loading bar when multiple files are to be displayed, there is a 5-10 second delay when right click on file/Office Explorer doesn't appear the options and modern user interface settings menus take forever to load. These problems are simply due to a slow HARD disk, to a defective material or perhaps Windows 8.1?

    FYI, my specs are:

    I7-4700MQ (2.4 GHz)

    GT740M

    8 GB RAM

    HARD DRIVE 750 GB

    Windows 8.1

Finally the keyboard is already broken after just 8 months, and the strange thing is that only a few random keys that are defective: the b key, key n, shift, delete key, key sign equal and perhaps a few others that I have not yet discovered. Do not spill any liquid on my keyboard, or dropped my laptop or damage it in any way. Keys suddenly did not, at the same time, a day at random. This could be due to a software problem any?

My apologies for the long post, but I thought that it would be pleased just to have all my frustrations with my laptop at the same time. Appreciate it really some answers to my questions. Thank you.
