Keyboard failure / stop working

The only thing I noticed about the responses here is: don't forget, THE KEYBOARD IS not DO NOT WORK!  Don't forget that through the answers.
I'm having trouble with another computer, Dell, Windows 7, 32 bit, etc..  I can't get my keyboard to work no matter what USB port I plug it in.  So, I can not press F8, F12 or get anywhere to get any patches for my pc.  I have to press CTRL, ALT, delete to get connected to my computer.  Therefore, I get to the CTRL, ALT, DEL screen and I can't go any further.  There is the "ease of use" button, but nothing works there.  However, I wouldn't be able to type my password to access the computer.  I tried three different keyboards (all who work on other computers), I use three different USB connectors that work on other computers and still nothing.  Can anyone help?

I have a keyboard attached to a wired Macbook Pro Apple. The keyboard worked fine for a year apart from the occasional glitch when it stops working, I add an extension of cable and it starts working again.  However, all of a sudden the numbers on the keyboard at the top of the keyboard have stopped working (but - and = work). the keyboard on the right continue stop work very well.  I think the function keys work always.  Someone at - it ideas?  It's driving me crazy! Tried to restart and don't Scream - no luck so far.

Hello Lloyd C from the United Kingdom.

If I understand you right, the numbers on the wired Apple keyboard that you have connected to your MacBook Pro stopped working. We know that it's never ideal to have a device that does not work as expected, we are happy to help you get the keyboard to work again.

The first thing I would recommend, first and foremost, is to update your Mac if there are updates available for the version of Mac OS X, you're running. Follow the steps in the article to support below if you are not familiar with how to update. For the purposes of troubleshooting, whenever you test your keyboard after you follow the steps that we provide, make sure that it is while the keyboard is connected directly to the USB port built-in on your MacBook and not connected to a USB hub. In addition, disconnect all other devices you have plugged into your Mac, besides than the charging cable under test.

Update the software on your Mac

If the problem persists after the update, the next step would be to reset the system management controller (SMC). The MSC is a part inside your MacBook, who helps run various physical parts of your computer, and resetting can sometimes help the problems associated with the keyboard and USB functions. The support article below contains the steps on how to reset the SMC.

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

Test the keyboard after that the MSC has been reset. If the problem persists, follow the steps in the "Steps to a USB keyboard" section in the following article:

If your USB keyboard or wireless does not work

Remember that it's always a possibility that the issue could be with the keyboard itself. If you continue to have problems with certain keys, try to connect the keyboard to a different Mac, if you manage to and see if you experience the same problems.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care!

  • All USB keyboard has stopped working

    Hello

All USB keyboards have stopped working on my installation of windows 7. They work fine in the BIOS or on my Ubuntu installation. When I plug a keyboard, it still gives an error code 29 (drivers not found). I tried using two keyboards: a Logitech Gaming Keyboard G105 and a fairly generic wireless keyboard (a dongle to connect to the computer).

I tried to uninstall it from the Device Manager and plug or restarted again, but the result is the same. Windows Update cannot find driver updates, and a system repair disc doesn't detect any problems. I temporarily created a fresh install of windows 7, which recognizes the keyboards very well. There is no driver available manufacturer (attempt to all keyboards are supposed to use the base drivers), and the keyboard Logitech gaming software does not see that it is there. 'Control Panel-> devices and printers' keyboards of lists of names, but the shows not even the stuff of work that is just under the Device Manager and the problem-solving the tent and is unable to find the drivers again. Try to select the driver HID keyboard in the Device Manager just in fact give the code 10 error (device does not start) instead.
Nothing I've tried has gotten me anywhere. I would rather not re-install Windows 7, like all the time and effort to get my system how do I like it took me forever, but I can't see how I solve this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    Zoden

There is a good chance a "repair" install will fix the problem as a "repair" install should re-create any missing or corrupt driver installation file.

  • USB mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working

My USB connected Microsoft USB Bluetooth mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working today. After researching everything I could, I didall that I could find as a possible solution that has been:

    • Update of the chipsets
    • Uninstalling usb in Device Manager and reboot devices
    • Updated via Device Manager, usb devices
    • Reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7
    • Stop, unplug and allow the card mother "reset".
    • Try multiple ports
    • There is no 'connect' button on my mouse so I can not sure try this
    • Replace the batteries in my mouse
    • Obviously both devices have been connected
    • Updated the software for the mouse

I have tried literally everything I could think of or read previously and I am out of options. Oddly enough however, after reformatting and reinstalling windows, my USB storage device is found and is working, but the keyboard and mouse are not. Please don't bother not suggest anything I listed above, I obviously already tried and found no chance.

    Update
I have solved my problem. For later use, if anyone has this problem and no other solution seems not work; That's what I did.

I bought a USB 2 ports PCI card and installed in my computer, then go back to Windows XP. While my original front and rear USB ports still recognize a flash drive, they do not recognize the keyboard or USB mouse, make ports PCI card. I had also updated ALL the updates of windows on the site, not the auto update available on the desktop. Although I don't know the cause, I am certain that somewhere, something was is altered by the hardware or software, and my default USB ports do not recognize mouse or keyboards.

Another piece of knowledge in case anyone is interested; I use a card mother gigabyte s-series and my nvidia video card GeForce previously is no longer recognized in the port, it would cause my computer go into a State of hibernation and the monitor would go into "Analog Power Saving Mode". The only solution was to spend a friend with my video card. (Its graphics card is a GeForce 9800 GTX, mine was a GeForce 9800 GT. No reason why it should make a difference.) According to me, even if my computer is less than two years old, I was sold a bad mother. I read online cases in other forums for technical support of people having the same problem. Gigabyte motherboards stop random ports for no known reason.

  • Dell bluetooth keyboard has stopped working

I have a dell keyboard and mouse bluetooth.  The mouse works fine, but the keyboard has stopped working. Batteries are fine. Cannot 'discover' the keyboard because I don't seem to have any device options 'bluetooth' in my control panel devices. Any ideas?

Contact Dell or just buy a new keyboard.  Wired are really not expensive - I bought one for $9 that works very well.

    Good luck.

  • The story ignores a newspaper (keyboard shortcuts stop working)

So I use Photoshop, I find that I can't press Cmd + Z (or Cmd + alt + Z) to cancel an error. I am also unable to use shortcut keys, so pressing B for brush, U online, E for the Eraser tool, etc. no shortcuts work.

That is until I shoot again. Once I clicked or developed anywhere within Photoshop (whether on or off the power of the Web), the keyboard shortcuts begin to work again. If overtime, whenever I want to cancel an error or use another tool with keyboard shortcuts, I have to click elsewhere to keyboard shortcuts work again...

It gets frustrating after a while.

I noticed in the historic area (the one where all the tools of measures are going in) where for example when I draw a line, the historic area does not pick up this newspaper. Yet once any attempt to use the keyboard shortcuts does not work. And once again, it is until I click elsewhere that the keyboard works. In addition, on the second click, the history box has now two actions in the list.

Thanks to those who have read my problem. I would like assistance as soon as possible. I'm ready to give any additional information that would help solve this problem

I found my problem, other problems that occurred when I have used photoshop are:

    • Keyboard shortcuts stop working
    • Lasso tool selections close prematurely and unexpectedly
    • Photoshop becomes unresponsive (it rarely happened to me)

The link (at the bottom of this comment) helped to fix this problem. It asks you to download a .zip file with a plugin file to be placed in the Plug-ins folder, respectively, and as it solved the problem.

Thank you Rohit to tide me over, you've been a star.

The F keys will however continue to work.
I can laugh with the brightness and activate / disable the num lock and scroll but I can't type.

A number of key just freeze.
When I reboot the keys work for a few minutes and then stop working again.

Please help me with suggestions and solutions.
    Thanx

    Hello

For me, it looks like a hardware problem. Maybe it s the keyboard or keyboard controller itself.
But first, you must be sure that this failure was not due to a software problem.
Therefore, it would be desirable to update the system and install the OS from the Toshiba Recovery CD.

If the keyboard problem appears again, I'd recommend contacting the ASP in your country to control the laptop.

It seems that the guarantee could be valid for all replacements must be done for free.

  • MPB 13 early 2015: keyboard, trackpad stopped working

    Hello

I am currently (not quite happy) owner of a Macbook Pro 13 "retina, early 2015, I bought about a year ago.

After a few months of use, the keyboard and the trackpad started to behave erratically:

    • Sometimes the trackpad may stop working.
    • At other times, it is the keyboard that wouldn't work.
    • But most of the time, the keyboard and the trackpad would be lacking.

    A few observations:

    • The question would appear only when I start the computer, or when he wake up from its sleep.
    • When the keyboard and the trackpad has decided to work, they have worked perfectly until I put the computer to sleep or shut it down.
    • Trackpad and keyboard work as expected.
    • Initially, the problem would appear only from time to time, but then he began to be more frequent to the point where the keyboard and the trackpad would never work.
    • During the first week little encounter the problem, plug an external USB device, such as a USB drive, managed to move things to the top and the keyboard/trackpad would raise from the dead. Alas, once the problem became permanent, nothing seems to fix.

What I have tried or verified:

    • I did tried to reset the SMC, NVRAM nothing helps.
    • Boot in single-user mode or failsafe don't change anything.
    • I did check for misbehaving kernel extensions and found nothing. All extensions of kernel in use are Apple.
    • The problem is not related to the installation of third-party software - the set of installed applications is quite small and rarely changes.
    • Hardware diagnosis do not have any problem report.

The problem became really annoying that I had to tote around an external keyboard and the trackpad - sentence a satisfactory 'solution '.

I ended up going in an Apple store, where I was recommended to send my machine for repair in a 'Premium' authorized Apple service center. This service center could not find the question

    (Apparently hit answer by accident)

This service center could not find the problem, and they ended up replacing all of the top folder (including the keyboard and the trackpad). It was less than three months ago.

Initially, it worked flawlessly... until a few weeks ago, when he started to raise its ugly head again. Just from time to time at first, but now, I'm at square one, with a keyboard and trackpad completely non functional.

    A few interesting notes:

    • Again, I have reset the SMC (using the internal keyboard) without success. I want the SHIFT, control option keys and press the power button. Light on the magsafe plug changes color for some time, which indicates that the MSC has been reset indeed. In other words, the system correctly detected that user have pressed the shift, command, and option keys.
    • I then tried to reset the NVRAM. But not the operation fails. Once the computer is on, it seems that the keys are not yet detected. Same thing if I try to boot in single user mode or failsafe. I can only do it by using an external keyboard now. Starting in integrated security mode shows me some cute photos asking me to activate my bluetooth keyboard and trackpad.

    Let's take a look at system.log.

When the macbook, boots or wakes up from his sleep and find the interface for device series, we are greeted with a message similar to:

    21/05/16 22:49:27, 000 kernel [0]: Apple keyboard internal / Trackpad::start successful start

These are the days of beau. However my logs are now filled with messages from the AppleHSSPIController. As I write this from another laptop, I can't paste the log messages

  • Touch pad/keyboard has stopped working.

Hi there. im hoping someone can help me with a question im having my laptop. for some reason any my touchpad and keyboard stop working. I tried reintalling windows to correct the problem that it does for one day and then the same thing happens again. When I checked in Device Manager and clicked on the PS/2 mouse, he said that there is an error code 10. If I uninstall ps/2 and reboot the laptop this solves the problem for a while, and then it happens again. My OS is windows 7, I think it has been upgraded to windows vista (I recently bought this 2nd hand computer laptop) so im not 100% sure on that. the date of the driver for the ps/2 compatible mouse is 21/06/2006. I tried to look on the Web site for a more updated keyboard to update driver, but I can't seem to find a. She seems to have all other drivers dismantled for the keyboard driver.

any help would be greatly appreciated
