  • Problem installing vSphere Web Client on Windows 8.1

    Hello

I want to install VMware vSphere Web Client on Windows 8.1 to connect to a server ESXi vShpere. But I get an error message stating "the product cannot be installed on Windows XP SP2 and higher.

Well WIndows 8.1 is "WIndows XP SP2 that precedes" but its obviously not recognized as such.

Question: does anyone have a solution to overcome this defective version of the installer check?

    cordially Edmond

Nothing in particular. Just thought while I reinstall my client pc to install the last managementoption of the ESXi server. And I thought that to be the webclient service.

Thanks for all the information. Super!

  • Cannot save vSphere Web Client after the replacement of the SSL certificate

    Hi all

I have followed the Articles of Derek Seaman on the replacement of all the certificates in vSphere 5.1 and have since turned to the VMware KB Articles. I replaced the certificates for the SSO, the inventory Service and vCenter Server with no problems (other than having to use OpenSSL-Win64 for vCenter certificate that I could not get the x 86 version certificate of work, makes no sense, but I'll take the small victory).

If you follow the guide of vmware to replace the web service certificate, http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & externalId = 2035010, I get to step 12, enter the VMware vSphere Client Web back to vCenter Single Sign On and the following error:

VMware technical support suggested I uninstall all components, delete all databases and try again. I have done this and have exactly the same result.

Has anyone seen elsewhere or managed to solve?

    Chris

So, I managed to solve this problem. Not sure that this applies to everyone, but my problem was caused by registering using among other names of the subject in the SSL certificate for the SSO rather than the common name of the certificate.

For example, the server name is server1.company.com. It is the common name of the certificate. But one of SAN of the certificate has been "vSphere.company.com".  If I used this other name in one of the component records that they would fail. I found that I have to use the common name. Even if the alternative names of job access to via your browser web, there is no certificate warning, if the registration of components using these names, it would fail.

It seems crazy that you can use any of the San... then why allow us to make?

Initially, I tried to replace the authentication certificate ONLY when the town was called vsphere.company.com, rather than the hostname of the server, and which is installed. However, try to install the Web Client would fail. When you come to the step where you have to accept the certificate of SSO, the installation fails because the common name of the certificate does not have the host name of the SSO server. It seems insane to me... why the host name of the server running the SSO should still come in when all calls are over HTTPS is simply absurd!

I confirmed this with VMware Technical Support and they checked my conclusions.

  • Store data customized for vSphere web client plugin

    Hello

I'm working on vSphere Web Client plugin development. We need to store custom data on vCenter server that can be configured by the user only once.

Plugin service will read the data and use it to connect to our server.

Currently, we create an XML with encrypted data and store it in the folder/usr/local on vCenter.
What are the best practices for storing these data?

    Thank you
    Vincent

Small data files can be stored on the same device running the Web Client (VCSA for Linux) or vCenter for Windows

In order to make your code compatible with the next vSphere 6.0 5.5 plugin you must use the following directories that will retain the write access:

    -/ Import/Storage on Linux

    -System.getenv ("PROGRAMDATA") under Windows.

Create a subdirectory of the plugin and write your files.  See the code in the samples/global services/Global Services-service/src/main/java/com/vmware/samples/global services/GlobalServiceImpl.java

  • Don't vSphere Web Client support third type of home screen shortcut?

    Hello.

I have vSphere 4.1 Client to version 5.1, and in the old version, it supports the "HomeView.Applications" extension and displays under the category 'Administration '.

Now, I checked vSphere Web Client Programming guide, it says as follows:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

category of the homescreen < categoryUid > string in which the extension of shortcut is displayed.

Home screen shortcut extensions must be added to one of the

existing categories on the home screen. What follows is valid

values for the < categoryUid > property:

    • vsphere.core.controlcenter.inventoriesCategory for

    Inventories

    • vsphere.core.controlcenter.monitoringCategory for

    Monitoring

    • vsphere.core.controlcenter.administrationCategory for

    Administration

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I could add another categoryUid?

    Thank you very much

No, as the doc says you must use one of the 3 categories of screen pre-existing home.

  • vRealize Orchestrator - cannot add to vSphere Web Client

    Hello

I configured the device vRealize Orchestrator and added the vCenter Server to the server via the customer to vRO Orchestrator--> library and can successfully run workflows against objects in vCenter. Then vRO works.

    BUT

The problem I have is that I can't seem to add the server vRO to vSphere Web Client. I do not see the plugin if and when I go to the Orchestrator plugin I see the vCenter Server in the "House of vCO' tab but"N/A"under"Managed by vCenter Orchestrator Server"." Under the "Lists" section it says "vCO servers: 0".» What Miss me?

I tried to add the new server to vRO (device) by changing the vCenter object and enter the server IP new vRO. But "Test connection" fails every time.

In addition, vCO has been installed with vCenter initially but never used and not yet used. But I don't think it would make a difference.

I don't see the vCenter plugin tab in the left menu when connecting to vRO with the customer and com.vmware.vco isn't showing in /mob .

    Versions:

    vCenter: 5.5u2

    vRO: 6.0.3.0 build 3000579

    Thank you!

    Hello

I'm a bit confused. It seems you are trying to use the two vCO 5.5.2 and vRO with VC 5.5.2 6.0.3, but plug-ins are different (they have different deployment mechanism, different extensions in MOB, etc.). I recommend you stick to the version of the vCO you got installed with VC - in this case, 5.5.2.

    Then, check the following:

    • Check that the vCO is configured with the SSO authentication, and it is the same instance used by VC/Web Client SSO
    • Check that this instance of vCenter is added as properly to vCO and there is an extension of 5.5.x - style into the CROWD. His name is com.vmware.orchestrator. [some-guid]
    • Check that the extension of the server property contains a record with URL property pointing to the server fine vCO - https:[vco-ip]:8281
    • Make sure that the user you are using to connect to the Web Client has a permission; for example. You should be able to connect to vCO Client Java with this user

If the foregoing is valid, check the Web Client (vsphere_client_virgo.log) log file for any errors of loading of the vCO and connection at the vRO server plugin.

  • vSphere Web Client 5.5 and Google Chrome

Is Google Chrome completely broken now for the Web Client? Around Thursday or Friday, it stopped loading on my Chrome installation. Works fine on IE, but I feel dirty using this browser. I know that Google support killing NPAPI (or something like that) and there was a work around for now but not yet that works. If I try to load the Web Client I get a failure just after the VMWARE whitens. VMware is working on a fix, I hope is not support vSphere 6 because Dell is not putting an ESXi Iso approved for the VRTX until the 2nd quarter of 2016.

If you use Chrome 42, you will need enable support NPAPI.

Chrome 42 breaks the vSphere Web Client integration Plugin

Chrome 43 will display the beloved "Aw, Snap!" at the launch of the Web Client vSphere integration Plugin. Try to disable the locking of renderer win32k to work around this problem.

  • How upgrade VMware tools Web Client 5.5

    Hi all

I was wondering how upgrade you VMware tools on a virtual machine in the web client 5.5 without using tools to upgrade to the next option reboot inside the virtual machine.  When you go into the VM options is grayed out just

    WebClient55vmtools.png

    Let me know,

    Thank you

    • The Web Client vSphere incorrectly invites you to update the VMware Tools, even in the last version.
    • A yellow banner will appear in the summary tab for the virtual machine with the message:

VMware Tools is obsolete on this virtual machine.

    • The Web Client vSphere may or may not give you the option to update the VMware Tools.
    • When you try to update the virtual machine of VMware Tools reports the installed version is earlier than the version currently running.
    • In the view hosts and Clusters of the army of ESXi, related objects , the affected virtual machine tab shows the version of VMware Tools is common.
    • Tab summary of the view models and virtual computers for the affected virtual machine, VMware Tools version is listed as current.

    Cause

When VMware Tools is installed in a virtual machine and the virtual machine is then migrated to a host older ESXi, vSphere Web Client correctly detects that the version of VMware Tools installed is equal to or greater than the version provided by the ESXi host where the virtual machine resides. However, the yellow banner is designed to match the version of VMware Tools exact provided by the host against the virtual machine.

    Resolution

    This question is only cosmetic.

If the State of VMware Tools is listed as a current, you can ignore this message

How can I change vSphere Web Client by default Port 9443 for any other port in Windows vmware web client server after the installation of the client web and vCenter camera well?

You can change the post-install Web Frontend Client vSphere 5.1 port by editing the following on the Server Web Client configuration file:

Find the entry below and change the port accordingly:

I use (and love) the Web Client vSphere. But after a short period of inactivity it maintains a disconnect me! It is most annoying. The former client web no never dared such a thing, but this new client seems a touch paranoid for me.

  • Is there a vSphere Web Client Plugin UI Guidance Document?

    Hello

I was looking for a document of instructions for user interface to the vSphere Client Web Plugin.  I found one for the Client vSphere here:

    http://www.VMware.com/support/developer/VC-SDK/vcplugin/vSphereClient_plugin_ui_guidelines.PDF

Specifically, I write a plugin that will allow the user to change the settings in a new sub tab on the tab manage for a specified host system.  So, I would follow the same look and feel of other tabs under Deputy manage the tab for a host system.  In other words, I would like my list of parameters have the same title bar to research and the light blue column for the names of the Panel settings "Configuration at the time of the" as shown below, for example.

    timeConfig.png

So, if there is a way to access a global CSS file, that would be great.  Or (more realistic), if there was a directive from the user interface where I could get information on police and the color information to these panels, which would be very useful.  Or if there is another way that I didn't think to get that kind of information, I would be very grateful.

Thanks for any help you can give me,

    Steve

  • Operations Manager integration with vSphere Web Client

    Hello

One of the new features that I keep seeing credited for vCenter Operations Manager v5.6 is 'integration with vSphere Web Client'.

I went through the process of getting vCOps operational v5.6 (and everything works fine), but I don't see any integration with the Web Client.  Am I missing something obvious?  Where is the integration?  I have to do something to activate it?

    See you soon,.

  • Keyboard shortcut for "automatic adjustment"?

Well, my previous question was how to hide the controls of the workstation, it is how to adjust automatically to work without having to use the "Display" commands  Is there a keyboard shortcut for this?  Now that I can expand my computer window because the controls are hidden, the guest operating system window enlarges not inside the frame as soon as I expanded the framework.  So I just get black spaces within the framework where I the Office of OS client to expand and Fill in automatically.

I would normally use Autofit for this, but the control is hidden.  Now the normal thing would be to have an "Accelerator" keyboard to adjust automatically, but still, I don't see it.

Y at - it no help for it?

    Thank you.

    -Roger

"Autofit Guest" and "Autofit Window" are persistent parameters.  If you select "Autofit Guest", then you can (with VMware Tools) should always resize when you resize the window.  There is not much to gain by having keyboard shortcuts for them because you should not be disabling them frequently.

A keyboard shortcut for "Fit Guest Now" would be more useful (and I guess that's what you're referring in fact), but, no, there is no shortcut for that either. (What you see in the menus, it's what you get). If you really want you can try to do an editor resources (e.g., Resource Hacker), vmware.exe of opening and editing of the accelerator table to add a shortcut key for the menu item 'Fit Guest Now', but this isn't something that we can support.
