Cannot save vSphere Web Client after the replacement of the SSL certificate

Hi all

I have followed the Articles of Derek Seaman on the replacement of all the certificates in vSphere 5.1 and have since turned to the VMware KB Articles. I replaced the certificates for the SSO, the inventory Service and vCenter Server with no problems (other than having to use OpenSSL-Win64 for vCenter certificate that I could not get the x 86 version certificate of work, makes no sense, but I'll take the small victory).

If you follow the guide of vmware to replace the web service certificate, http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & externalId = 2035010, I get to step 12, enter the VMware vSphere Client Web back to vCenter Single Sign On and the following error:

VMware technical support suggested I uninstall all components, delete all databases and try again. I have done this and have exactly the same result.

Has anyone seen elsewhere or managed to solve?

Chris

So, I managed to solve this problem. Not sure that this applies to everyone, but my problem was caused by registering using among other names of the subject in the SSL certificate for the SSO rather than the common name of the certificate.

For example, the server name is server1.company.com. It is the common name of the certificate. But one of SAN of the certificate has been "vSphere.company.com".  If I used this other name in one of the component records that they would fail. I found that I have to use the common name. Even if the alternative names of job access to via your browser web, there is no certificate warning, if the registration of components using these names, it would fail.

It seems crazy that you can use any of the San... then why allow us to make?

Initially, I tried to replace the authentication certificate ONLY when the town was called vsphere.company.com, rather than the hostname of the server, and which is installed. However, try to install the Web Client would fail. When you come to the step where you have to accept the certificate of SSO, the installation fails because the common name of the certificate does not have the host name of the SSO server. It seems insane to me... why the host name of the server running the SSO should still come in when all calls are over HTTPS is simply absurd!

I confirmed this with VMware Technical Support and they checked my conclusions.

  • What should I do on vCenter vSphere Web Client after you change the host root password?

    Hello

When we implemented vCenter our Organization, we used a regular password to the account 'root' on each ESXi host.

So, I installed vCenter and added the hosts on it to manage.

When I added them, they've asked for the root password power connect.

    Ok. Everything was fine.

Now, we want to change the password to root for each ESXi host.

My question is: what should I do to make sure that vCenter will always be able to connect to the ESXi hosts, because the account used to connect the first time change his password?

My question is: what should I do to make sure that vCenter will always be able to connect to the ESXi hosts, because the account used to connect the first time change his password?

Nothing, after the host is added to vCenter, a user named vpxuser is created automatically on the ESXi host and vCenter uses this user to connect and manage the host.

  • vSphere Web Client shows 0 vCenter server

Hi all.  As a newbie, I am currently playing with vCenter 5.1.  I just vcenter Server 5.1 with all required components (SSO, Web Client Server, etc.) installed on a test server.  After installation, I am able to connect to SSO via vSphere Web Client using the admin@system-domain account.  I am able to create SSO users and assign permissions user SSO.  However, vCenter server list is empty, there is no vCenter server on this list, which should not be; See the attached screen shot.  This is why I'm not able to test other features of vCenter.  Is any one having the same number as I am?  It is a clean installation, running on a Windows 2008 R2 operating system.  Thank you.

    Salvation was,

Go to your SSO Configuration and click your ad you have configured under the identity source.  To do like default domain by clicking on the symbol that looks like this

Once that is done, try to connect with your AD administrator and see if the inventory is the filler.

If it isn't yet, connect to vCenter using the vSphere client and click your object of vCenter, go to the permissions tab and add the authorization with your AD username and the role of the administrator. Now you should be able to connect with the AD user on the web client and the vCenter + inventory should appear.

I would like to know if it works.

This answer was simple, all I had to do was remove the # in front of the statement in the file.   and SSO has been disabled after the restart of the service.

  • vRealize Orchestrator - cannot add to vSphere Web Client

    Hello

I configured the device vRealize Orchestrator and added the vCenter Server to the server via the customer to vRO Orchestrator--> library and can successfully run workflows against objects in vCenter. Then vRO works.

    BUT

The problem I have is that I can't seem to add the server vRO to vSphere Web Client. I do not see the plugin if and when I go to the Orchestrator plugin I see the vCenter Server in the "House of vCO' tab but"N/A"under"Managed by vCenter Orchestrator Server"." Under the "Lists" section it says "vCO servers: 0".» What Miss me?

I tried to add the new server to vRO (device) by changing the vCenter object and enter the server IP new vRO. But "Test connection" fails every time.

In addition, vCO has been installed with vCenter initially but never used and not yet used. But I don't think it would make a difference.

I don't see the vCenter plugin tab in the left menu when connecting to vRO with the customer and com.vmware.vco isn't showing in /mob .

    Versions:

    vCenter: 5.5u2

    vRO: 6.0.3.0 build 3000579

    Thank you!

    Hello

I'm a bit confused. It seems you are trying to use the two vCO 5.5.2 and vRO with VC 5.5.2 6.0.3, but plug-ins are different (they have different deployment mechanism, different extensions in MOB, etc.). I recommend you stick to the version of the vCO you got installed with VC - in this case, 5.5.2.

    Then, check the following:

    • Check that the vCO is configured with the SSO authentication, and it is the same instance used by VC/Web Client SSO
    • Check that this instance of vCenter is added as properly to vCO and there is an extension of 5.5.x - style into the CROWD. His name is com.vmware.orchestrator. [some-guid]
    • Check that the extension of the server property contains a record with URL property pointing to the server fine vCO - https:[vco-ip]:8281
    • Make sure that the user you are using to connect to the Web Client has a permission; for example. You should be able to connect to vCO Client Java with this user

If the foregoing is valid, check the Web Client (vsphere_client_virgo.log) log file for any errors of loading of the vCO and connection at the vRO server plugin.

  • Unable to see vCO in vSphere Web Client

I am currently using vRealize Orchestrator 6.0.0. I tried to add the name extension to my vSphere Web Client, but it still does not work.

I have configured authentication SSO, the network, imported SINGLE authentication certificate. I ran the two workflows 'Add an instance of vCenter Server' and "Register as a Server extension vCenter Orchestrator vCetner" in "library / vCenter / Configuration.

When I try to restart my vSphere Web service Client, I can see the vCO in it, but it goes away after a minute. And I can see, the error message.

Cannot connect to one or more systems of vCenter server:

    https:// " {vCenterIP}: 443/sdk '

    unnamed.png

It seems that this is not a combination of supported - vRO 6.0.0 (for customers of vRA 6.2 only) + VC 5.5.0. Also in general is not required to run the workflow extension registry. The extension must be registered automatically with the workflow add vCenter server. You could wait for vSphere 6.0.0 6.0.1and vRO and try with them.

    Kind regards

    Galina

  • vSphere Web Client

We are short of vSphere 5.5 and I went to change the settings of one of our virtual machines and I get the message, "you cannot use the vSphere client to change the settings of the virtual version 10 or higher machines. Use the vSphere web client to change the settings for this virtual machine. He did this on one server and I don't know when it started or how do I install/use the web client of vSphere.

If you don't want to use the web client, you can always return the virtual machine to version 9 of material or below. This can be done to turn off the virtual machine and by editing the vmx file:

    virtualHW.version = "10".

    Change this line:

    virtualHW.version = "9".

Then turn on the virtual computer and you will be able to change the settings without the web client.

    Help, I've changed the root ESXi via powerCli password, now I can not connect with the web client or the console, but I can still connect to powerCli. The command I used was;

    Thank you, Joe

It is probably a longshot, but a lot of things in the land of windows is not sensitive to capital letters as Unix is.  I wonder if your new password you put through powerCLI mixed uppercase in it and if the capitalization was abandoned by command windows powerCLI Analyzer, or he interpreted as all capitals or something.   If you can still get through the powerCLI you could try to reset the password again to something simple without capitalization mixed case and if your password on ESXi strategy requires a special character, try something different than a "$", like a "_" (I find that a '_' is less likely than some other special characters (, as a '-' or a ' / ' to cause problems with analyzers.).

    Edit:

Another thing, you can try before playing with the password once again, is to create a different username ESXi using powerCLI and see if the password ends up what you think, it should be, and if you can get with the client vsphere using it.  In this way, you can find out if there are some problems with certain characters or Cap through command powerCLI Analyzer without losing your remaining root by powerCLI access.  After some tests, you can understand what went wrong with your initial password change and may be able to fix it with less risk of losing access.  I also assume that you can not create a new username on ESXi who is able to change the root password no matter what authority give you it, otherwise, you could create a new username with PowerCLI, then connect to the client vsphere with it and change the password to root from there.

  • Problem installing vSphere Web Client on Windows 8.1

    Hello

I want to install VMware vSphere Web Client on Windows 8.1 to connect to a server ESXi vShpere. But I get an error message stating "the product cannot be installed on Windows XP SP2 and higher.

Well WIndows 8.1 is "WIndows XP SP2 that precedes" but its obviously not recognized as such.

Question: does anyone have a solution to overcome this defective version of the installer check?

Nothing in particular. Just thought while I reinstall my client pc to install the last managementoption of the ESXi server. And I thought that to be the webclient service.

Thanks for all the information. Super!

  • vSphere Web Client: Error #1034 when you connect.

When I try to connect to the vSphere Web Client I get this error (in Flash format) box:

    webclient_error.gif

This occurs just after a successful authentication

I have tried different browsers, the Flash upgrade, etc... No luck.

Any ideas? It used to work fine, but I don't have any idea what has changed.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion of julienvarela.

Apparently, the error was caused by a limited amount of free disk space on drive (C) of the server. After I added more space, the error disappeared.
