L870 - costs of recovery disk satellite

Hi all

Well after 1 month to have a new portable Satalite L series the player bad happened and lost partition onekey... so my rear disks I did when I arrived was not good so I called Toshiba and spoke to some who was very helpful and told me to go to a website to get the recovery disks hmmmm pretty easy.

Then he hit with "there is a tax"? I have a little over £400 for this laptop and I have to pay for the disc as well.
I did not how much they cost, but it's a scam.

so I got a ref number and returned the laptop with a complete cash back.

Toshiba if expensive I will advise my dept marketing that we not buy laptops from all the

Good bye

Hi Rod

It is not easy to discuss something if you n t understand how it works. Compare Toshiba with other laptop manufacturers and you will see that almost all manufacturers of laptops offers laptops with preinstalled operating system and without recovery disk.

Recovery media must be created by the owner of the laptop. It is described in the document s user manuals. Some people don t care about anything, so if you lose several times Toshiba should send it to you for free?

Toshiba offers for the fair price of 30 Euros, so that the money you will get enabled operating system, including all the drivers, tools, utilities and some other software for free.

I have a problem with my on my new machine satellite P105-6024 express Media Player software.

As I bought it, everything works fine. But then, I did the partitions on my HARD drive and I instaled all the software recovery disc. And everything looks earlier and work properly but Express Media Center. It seems that it is not installed. I found the special Express Media Player restore disk but I don't know how to use it. (I am a novice complite). As I knew EMP is a linux-like software and it is not visible in Windows. And I know that there was a small special partition dedicated to this application. This partition has been deleted. And I'm not sure that it is possible to install EMP once more on my laptop. How can I use the EMP recovery disk? If I just run in the windows environment I see just a few files - but their execution, nothing is happen. I'd appreciate a small manual.

    Hello

I found this on the web:

Installation Guide step by step for Express Media Player and Windows XP Recovery on two partitions in Expert mode:

    (1) all DATA on HARD drive will BE DESTROYED IRREVERSABLY (it's serious!)
    (2) install Express Media Player:
Boot from the recovery Express Media Player CD
--> use [delete all Partitions] (can be on the left side of the menu for older versions of reader).
THIS ERASES THE ENTIRE HARD DRIVE!
    (3) boot with the Windows XP Recovery CD, go to expert mode and exit the "TOSHIBA Recovery Tool" (version OEM Ghost) using menuitem "Quit."
    (4) you can use fdisk.exe or gdisk.exe - I'll show the syntax here gdisk
(its easier to describe and there are a lot of descriptions for FDISK on the net)
    (5) now, we create two partitions (size of 50%: 50%-playersize).
--> At the DOS prompt, type:
    Gdisk 1 /cre /pri /sz:50%-> creates a primary partition 1
    Gdisk 1 /cre /ext-> creates an extended partition 2
    Gdisk 1/log /cre-> creates a 2nd logical partition
    Gdisk 1/p:1-> partionion set 1 active /act
    (6) now reboot with Windows XP Recovery CD, go to expert mode
    (7) menu use: Local\Partition\From Image, choose image GHO menu
    (8) there should only be ONE partition available source:
1 primary DiskLoad NTFS 07...-> pick this one!
    (9) Select destination disk (there are also only one)
    1 basic...-> pick this one!
    (10) now you need to choose the destination partition - there should be three to choose!
    (11) select:
1 primary 0C Fat32 without name...-->! BE SURE TO CHOOSE THIS ONE!
    (12) to confirm that you want to write on this partition
"(13)" TOSHIBA Recovery Tool "is unpack and install the operating system
    (14) subsequently Windows XP and Media Player Express are installed

Hope this will help you. Good luck!

  • Recovery disk satellite M205 S4804 and drivers disk?

    Hello

I live in the Brazil and won a satellite M205 S4804. But I got it without any CD or DVD. No driver software, no recovery CD or DVD.

I have the two Portuguese version of Windows: Vista and XP. And having to install them on my M205, but I do not find all the drivers.

I tried to download the drivers in the @skIris and a few components not installed correctly, as a wireless card (I don't know what model is the device).

I think that if I brought back the original status of my English Windows Vista (Home) and upgrade for my Portuguese version (Ultimate), I won't have to reinstall the drivers...

There is a site to download the drivers and the CD/DVD recovery for my laptop?

    Thank you

    Wemerson Guimarães
    Brazil

This laptop seems to be designed for the American market and therefore you should look on the Toshiba site we for some drivers

The M205 seems to be a new series on the market, and perhaps not all drivers have been released at this time. THEN maybe, you will have to wait a bit

Sorry, but that's all I can suggest

  • Satellite A660 - custom install from the recovery disk

I like my windows costs. I do not have programs that I don't really need. I tried to uninstall some of them, but they always leave unexpected pieces behind them. So is there a way to stop the factory reset on A660 before installing drivers and other software. So I can install the readers updated and the programs I want to.

I noticed that I can leave the program that installs Windows regarding the Office when using ctrl-alt-delete. Thing is that it will start again once the computer restarts then I have to remove this program from loading at the beginning upward. Can anyone share ideas?

I would be really nice if Toshiba allows us to decide what kind of programs that we have in our computer.

    Satellite A660 97u model. Windows 7.

    Hey,.

I put t think its bloatware. It s tools can you FN keys, webcam, etc. Laptop with a lot of material requires a lot of drivers and software. In addition, you also get a large number of tools that makes computing easier, like Toshiba Bulletin Board software, burning, etc.
If you remove it n don't like this software, but it s kind of Toshiba to deliver these software with laptops.

But to answer your question: custom installation is not possible because the recovery disk contains a ready image of factory settings, no single file.
This is why you must use a Microsoft disc.

  • Satellite A40-151 recovery disk problem

    Hello

    I hope someone can help.

I bascially bought this new laptop altogether earlier and until recently he works very well, but a few weeks ago the hard drive, I think that then, it happened to the extent where everything would load and then the pc would lock or it would freeze on the windows loading screen.

Now, I did a little research and from what I could gather my HDD disappeared.

I then bought a new hard drive for this the same exactually that I had same model, same brand etc and even same GB, which is 30 GB.

I placed in the new hard drive and went to install windows xp on the recovery disks, but now I get a problem it starts and tries to install the os, but about 15% in the disc stops spining and I get an error 437 that the file cannot be run or something like that.

I did something wrong? do I need to buy a whole new operating system? I hope someone can help

    Thank you for your time

If you have purchased this Satellite as new and quite while ago why you pay money for new hardware? If one of the pieces of equipment is defective warranty will cover the costs of replacement.

As far as I know that satellite A40 is old enough laptop model, and I guess that it takes more than two years. Anyway, if possible try to install the OS by CD Microsoft facilities to determine if the OS facilities can be completed. Maybe faulty recovery CD is (some scratches).

  • Satellite A200 - recovery disk problems

I just bought the (all new store big tech) Satellite A200 for a few months and not used because I was on business trip to take. This weekend, I opened it up and running for a while.

After that I read the manual and found that I need to create a recovery from the tools provided disk. However, the problem start here:

    1. when I click on "Recovery Disc Creator", a message is display "no HDD Recovery area!, the toshiba Recovery Disc creator cannot be launched."

2 then I call center service support and to inform that there is a problem with the "recovery disk creator" and I have to retrieve the laptop using the hard drive partition recovery (waiting when 0 turning on the system) and the next step is complete:
    a. the laptop's boot in the recovery screen function.
    b. when I try to "restore windows PC" (option 3), it is display and error message on file not found.
    c. when I try to click on "restoring the recovery disk" (option 5), it asks me to put in the recovery disk which I do not have?

NOTE: I'm sure that the hidden recovery partition is therre. 1.46 GB. There is no way that I can access the hidden partition from a normal windows vista screen (without drive letter).

Then, I called the support center again (now what difference person support) and to inform you that:

    1. my recovery partition is corrupted and I need to get the recovery disk again (which I did not), it's going to cost me AUD $66 (I got from HP one and cost me AUD $15 and will be free if I come and Pick-up) for administrative costs. And it is a procedure.

    2. I explain to the support staff that it is brand new in the box laptop and I consider it as defective on arrival (DOA or FOA.

    3. I also ask what causes the problem and has been a consultant with the following reason:
    a. I may have deleted the partition accident (impossible because I still can start on the recovery partition, but can not recovery which all).
    b. There may be a virus infect in my laptop which was remove my recovery file in the hidden partition (ridiculous, you can delete some files in the drive on which you cannot yet access).
    c. I should create a recovery disc when the first time LAPTOP computer service. Which it is recommended, I get a question that if I do not, or I forgot to do so, this means that the software will automatically delete the system restore image file? I have no answer for that.

State (when I try to post this messgae), I'm still waiting for the staffs of complaint call fomr back (very tie when you talk in support of service these days).

NOTE 2: I would like to raise these issues, not because I want something (I do both IT support) complaints but I just want to solve the problem:

    1. is there some sort (software) allow me to access the hidden drive in and out of recovery disc image, my laptop still have the partition.

    2. is there a link I can download image recovery (in iso format) disc again? I've known it is not a question of wise, but when I ask the support staff that can re - install windows vista with the license key from the bottom of the laptop and has advised that it is not work or turn on.

    3. is there someone out there has similar problem

    Hi Thomas

I have a European model A200 (don t know what you model is) and the A200 was NOT equipped with the option of HARD drive recovery! This means that you cannot create your own recovery disk!
My laptop came with the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs!

Still is it that your 1.46 GB hidden partition is not the Toshiba recovery partition but Vista hidden partition. It contains the WinRE files that are useful for repairing the operating system if something will go wrong!

Second, the Toshiba Recovery folder is too big for the partition of 1.46 GB!
So it is not possible that it would be placed on this s partition!

So finally, it seems that you will not be able to create the own recovery disk and therefore, you have to order it from the ASP in your country.

    Welcome them

  • Win 7 restore without disk recovery on Satellite L350-277

    Hi all

I'm trying to fix Satellite L350-277 of my sister-in-law following a HARD drive failing. Before the crash, he was running Win7 Home Premium (32 bit) that was preinstalled on the HARD drive. I managed to run Belarc on it before it went completely, but could not create the restore disc in time.

Disk failure HARD seems to be due to bad sectors and once failed, could not get past startup repair. While they were inspecting HARD drive (in the USB enclosure), both C: and D: (backup partition) appeared to be intact, so guessed was discussed with MBR. I have used Clonezilla to clone new HARD drive and I'm now work - failure of HARD drive it's always like it was incase I need to clone again.

With the HARD drive clone, I first tried to use bootrec.exe but some successful how to 'break' C: and could not see anything in the score.

BTW I am currently using a copy of DVD retail Win 7 to provide the functions of "restore". However the Toshiba restore capabilities do not appear in the list of options. So I decided then to install everything on C: retail copy to see if I could access toshiba restore functions using data in D:, that doesn't seem to work either.

Then I stumbled on this thread that gave me the hope to be able to start the Toshiba recory tool:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=44382

I was hoping that Vista and Win7 preinstalls would be very similar, but the HARD drive has a recovery partition (D:\ HDDRecovery) and seems to fall in step 13. There are two files boot.wim in this partition: 'D:\hddrecovery\oddfiles\sources\boot.wim' and 'D:\hddrecovery\oddfiles\hddprep\sources\boot.wim '. Imaging either of these files does not cause the file according to the instructions of step 13. Here again, the guide is based around the Vista installation...

So what I try to do is to retrieve the data from the old HARD drive with the damaged boot record in order to restore the Win 7 OS pre-installed Toshiba. I seem to have the data (old HDD still retains files) do not seem to have enough knowledge now do!

    Can someone help me?

On the one hand I can understand your wish to install the recovery image, but on the other hand, for me personally, this is nothing but waste your time for nothing. In General, recovery image is designed may not be copied or manipulated so this guy was very lucky.

Problem is that this recovery disk is not created after the purchase of the laptop.

Maybe it sounds stupid to you, but I recommend you restore disk original order for this machine.
You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
It costs 30 Euro only. With this money, you will get original recovery disk that includes the operating system active, all necessary drivers, tools, utilities and a few additional and useful applications.

Using this disk, you will be able to have perfectly working machine in just 2 hours.

One more thing: the use of the disc is unlimited and you can use it 1000 times and each time you have enabled and configured perfectly BONE.

  • Satellite P100 - where to get a recovery disk

    Hey all,.

My already stolen laptop was returned to me less the HARD drive and the bag and accessories. I bought a new HARD drive and power cord to see if it still works, and everything seems good.

  • Satellite A500 - problems with the creation of recovery disks

    Hello
I bought a Satellite A500 yesterday and now I'm trying to create the recovery discs before anything else.
However, towards the end of the 1st DVD I get an error message saying "Faile dto open the next file. e:\Boot\BCD (0201123-F1-00000000 error code)"and then when I click 'OK', the DVD is ejected giving a message"unable to create recovery 1' media. Physical examination, I noticed that the DVD is written almost entirely.

Any advise on this? In addition, in the interface, it shows a USB option and says to insert a USB media with more than 7 GB of free. That I can use it to create the recovery disk? If Yes, when I reinstall windows 7, this allows as a bootable drive?

Greately appreciate any help on this matter. If it is defective, I want to return as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Thank you
    Mercier.

As far as I know, that you can not use external device for recovery, it is therefore very important create recovery DVDs.

Try to create the recovery disk using only DVD-R media. Use high quality media like TDK or Verbatim.
Last month, I've created on the Satellite A500-157 recovery discs and everything went well.

  • Satellite Pro C660-1LR - new HARD drive but no recovery disk

I need help for my son who is the Satellite Pro C660 1LR laptop.

In this portable hard drive is completely dead, I have not created a disk of recovery for this system of portable computers.
I bought a new hard drive that is installed... However, as you guessed it I have no access to reinstall an OS, this laptop works on windows 7.

I'm not really tech savvy so if someone can advise me please do explain to the fool proof format! I try to avoid having to buy something expensive.

    > I'm trying to avoid having to buy something expensive.
Problem is that you don't have many options in this regard.
If you want to have the factory again settings you must install recovery disc. You can order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx of course is not free, but, in my opinion, without a doubt the best solution.

You can buy the Microsoft installation disc and install the clean version. You must purchase a valid license for it.
In this case, you must install all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities for more than one by one.

Just in case you can get this installation of Microsoft and the free license you can save money.

Believe me, the best solution is the original recovery disk command.

  • Satellite A300-211 - can I use creator of recovery disk to create other discs?

    My laptop is Satellite A300-211

My question is can I use the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator program to burn CDs and DVDs next to the Windows image?

    Hi mate,

The Toshiba recovery disc creator can create the Toshiba Recovery disk and that s all!

If you want to burn the other CD or DVD, you can use other software such as Nero or CD Burner XP. The last one is a free and really nice. It has many functions and is very low. Check it!

    Hello

I noticed the same thing on my Satellite P500, but I must say it s not a problem, it of quite normal. The computer will restart several times (10 times or more) to complete the installation.

You know that a lot of drivers/tools will be installed and some restart is required to configure everything properly.

So don t interrupt the installation of recovery, just wait a little longer and a coffee. Everything is done automatically and your laptop is reinstalled with the factory settings. :)

    Hello Pesche

Instructions how to install Os using supplied recovery media, you can find under http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2513&tstart=15

I recommend to use the Expert installation mode and create a clean partition. When the computer starts for the first time you will be able to see the C partition only. The D partition must be created also in the OS, but is really not a problem.

Exact explanation which you will find under:
