Satellite A40-151 recovery disk problem

Hello

I hope someone can help.

I bascially bought this new laptop altogether earlier and until recently he works very well, but a few weeks ago the hard drive, I think that then, it happened to the extent where everything would load and then the pc would lock or it would freeze on the windows loading screen.

Now, I did a little research and from what I could gather my HDD disappeared.

I then bought a new hard drive for this the same exactually that I had same model, same brand etc and even same GB, which is 30 GB.

I placed in the new hard drive and went to install windows xp on the recovery disks, but now I get a problem it starts and tries to install the os, but about 15% in the disc stops spining and I get an error 437 that the file cannot be run or something like that.

I did something wrong? do I need to buy a whole new operating system? I hope someone can help

Thank you for your time

If you have purchased this Satellite as new and quite while ago why you pay money for new hardware? If one of the pieces of equipment is defective warranty will cover the costs of replacement.

As far as I know that satellite A40 is old enough laptop model, and I guess that it takes more than two years. Anyway, if possible try to install the OS by CD Microsoft facilities to determine if the OS facilities can be completed. Maybe faulty recovery CD is (some scratches).

My thoughs is that the image is corrupt.

The error that you declare, is a fault with the Vista disk image cannot be applied to the hard drive.

Which you used 2 recovery discs of different product, which would indicate that there is not support for product recovery but a defective hard drive, possibly bad sectors on the hard disk.

  • Satellite A300D - creating recovery disk problem

    Hello.

I have Toshiba Satellite A300D-11 t (extended A300D-11) and I would like to create recovery disk. Problem is that I can't run the Toshiba Recovery disk creation tool. There is no shortcut in the start menu.
I tried to run Program Files.

Program itself exists (or at least I think it does), there are files in the Program Files folder, in "Programs and features" program is also so I could remove it.
Simply click on the file TosRDC.exe (or any other file *.exe in this case) and it does not start.

For memory - recovery partition exists and has not been changed.

System - Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
    What should do?

    Hello

I would say to pick up the machine from the disk and then, immediately after the machine, you should try to create a recovery disk. It could be that something in the meantime destroyed some piece of software in your operating system that could be the reason of this problem.

Maybe not a very elegant solution but the only one that works every time.

    Welcome them

Okay, so I lost all of my drives for my laptop (story tl; dw) and then it dies. I have order a new Toshiba Recovery disk image and start running repairs to it.

It gives me a message "Windows loading flies... "and a progress bar.

    Then...

    Nothing happens.

    For ten minutes, nothing happens.

    Hello

At first, I can say that this recovery disk cannot be used for repairs. You can only use it for the new operating system installation.
Behavior described is certainly not OK and you should be able to see the menu with the language options listed.

    What you can do?
I'm scared of m not big thing. BIOS setting to default and try several times to see if you're lucky and the installation of recovery will be properly implemented.
For testing purposes, you can try to get the Microsoft installation disc and see if the installation of the operating system starts correctly.

  • Satellite A40-151: how to enter the BIOS settings?

    Hello...

I'm on Toshiba Satellite A40-151 the DVD for this broken but this isn't worth it.
The problem is that I can't enter the setup (BIOS) to boot from a different boot device, or I do not now how to enter.

    Help, please

    thanx

    Hello

I think you have a Toshiba BIOS.
In this case you must press the ESC key immediately after the laptop has been powered. Try to press the button several times

By the way; You can also use the F12 key to get the boot menu.
Then you could easily choose your boot device
    This also works

  • Re: Can I use the other Satellite U400 series recovery disk

I have Toshiba Satellite U400 121. My recovery disk does not work may be due the scratches that I see in it. I took the laptop to the Toshiba Center service and I got a negative support of them. They said, they can't put the Windows Vista because the recovery disk is not there, and they have put Windows XP inside and handed to me.
later I got to know that Windows Xp is not Geninue one. :|

I can still see one of the Partition 'D:' with folder HDDRecovery inside.

So can I use Recovery Disk of all PC model Toshiba laptop other than the Toshiba Satellite U400 121 recovery disk.

In fact, I tried with the other model recovery disk, that at boot with this disk, Recovery Wizard starts up, but since I'm not sure about this one I stopped there and brought out.

Please one of you let me know if you have valuable contributions on this.

    suggestions are welcome!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I don't know Mr. which series Satellite U400-121, it is, but you must use the recovery disc designed specifically for this series of laptop!

Another recovery disc cannot be used because the drivers and tools that have been implemented in the image of Toshiba are not designed for this series of laptop!

By the way; You can order the CD from recovery from here:

  • How to change RAM on Satellite A40 - 151

My laptop Satellite A40-151 contains 256 MB of Ram with XP. It has become extremely slow because of microsoft recent service pack updates.

It is impossible to make this work more quickly.
Could someone please suggest me how can I move my ram to 1 GB. Is it supported to upgrade.

Please I guide me otherwise I can't use this system more.

    Hello

Yesterday, the same thing happened to me. Windows has received all MS patches and updates and the laptop everything was not more usable.
It was amazing, slow but after several hours, I managed to install all the updates and now everything works fine.

Laptop you can be upgraded up to 2GB. This is possible. If you want to use max 1 GB I recommend using 2 x 512 MB modules.
You use PC2100 200 pin memory (266 MHz) DDR SODIMM!

You will find the detailed description in your user manual I hope ;)

But I'll post here a small instruction:
The modules are hidden under the keyboard!

-Disconnect all cables and remove the battery
-Slide the latch of the screen at the front of the computer to the right and open the display panel
-Insert a thin object under the edge of the brace of keyboard and lift them from the orthosis
-remove the 2 screws of the keyboard and a screws of the metal structure and raise the metal structure
-Remove the keyboard carefully (the keyboard is connected to the card cable in water. Make sure you do not apply a voltage of this cable and do not attempt to unplug this cable!)
-lift in the sheet of insulation left on the memory module
-Insert a new module into the slot and gently push it downwards so that it lies flat and is fixed by two locks on each side.

    Good luck ;)

  • Satellite A135-S4666 - recovery disk displays an error message

The hard drive crashed while I replaced it. I am trying to use the recovery disk to take the computer to the "out of the box configuration.

I chose to 'recover' rather than erase the hard drive based on this choice. Then it copies the files from the first disc and pushes me to the second. After putting the other continues to copy files. Finally, she moves more to 'recover now' she does and seems to be using the hard disk newly installed something between 35 and 50% of the task. At this point, I get an error message stating "error recovery" and invites me to press ok to shut down the computer and spits out the CD. The error message is coded 10-FC12-0002. I tried 4 or 5 times with the same result.

Am I supposed to use disc erase first, and then use the recovery mode since it is a new hard drive? Or I have a defective recovery disc?

Any comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated, I do not get the case at this stage.

    Hello

It's not easy to tell if it s a recovery disk problem or if the new HARD drive is the problem. Have you tested a Microsoft disc for example? If the disc of Microsoft is, it seems that your recovery disc is noisy and needs to be replaced. Otherwise the new drive HARD cause this problem.

Check this box to determine the cause of this problem!

    Good bye

    Hello

Well, the best way is to ask the service partner Toshiba for compatible readers and supported.
The fact is that if you buy a non compatible drive BIOS will not recognize this device.
I found some information on the internet and it seems these drives should work.
    Toshiba SD-R6112 DVD-R /-RW and Pioneer G8CC0001L810 DVD +-RW

But I'm sure that you'll get a drive compatible and right service in your country.

  • Want to play DVDs on Satellite A40-151

My d drive plays music CD but dvd makes just one beep do I need to play dvd CDs

    I'm a bit confused of m.
You ask: what do I need read CD DVD

You want to play the DVD or what?
I put t found information on Satellite A40-151, but on the A40-141
But I guess there is no difference between the models of theses.

However, according to the news reader supports these media:
    CD - R (RW), CD - RW (read/re-write), CD,
    DVD-ROM (read-only), DVD-R (read only), DVD - RW (read only), DVD - RAM (read-only)

Don't forget that you put media to DVD + t use because these DVDs are not compatible
Also if you want to watch DVDs you must use an application like WinDVD or Power DVD, etc.

You must look in the * Archives *.
Then, you will find all drivers for Satellite A40.

  • Satellite A200 - recovery disk problems

I just bought the (all new store big tech) Satellite A200 for a few months and not used because I was on business trip to take. This weekend, I opened it up and running for a while.

After that I read the manual and found that I need to create a recovery from the tools provided disk. However, the problem start here:

    1. when I click on "Recovery Disc Creator", a message is display "no HDD Recovery area!, the toshiba Recovery Disc creator cannot be launched."

2 then I call center service support and to inform that there is a problem with the "recovery disk creator" and I have to retrieve the laptop using the hard drive partition recovery (waiting when 0 turning on the system) and the next step is complete:
    a. the laptop's boot in the recovery screen function.
    b. when I try to "restore windows PC" (option 3), it is display and error message on file not found.
    c. when I try to click on "restoring the recovery disk" (option 5), it asks me to put in the recovery disk which I do not have?

NOTE: I'm sure that the hidden recovery partition is therre. 1.46 GB. There is no way that I can access the hidden partition from a normal windows vista screen (without drive letter).

Then, I called the support center again (now what difference person support) and to inform you that:

    1. my recovery partition is corrupted and I need to get the recovery disk again (which I did not), it's going to cost me AUD $66 (I got from HP one and cost me AUD $15 and will be free if I come and Pick-up) for administrative costs. And it is a procedure.

    2. I explain to the support staff that it is brand new in the box laptop and I consider it as defective on arrival (DOA or FOA.

    3. I also ask what causes the problem and has been a consultant with the following reason:
    a. I may have deleted the partition accident (impossible because I still can start on the recovery partition, but can not recovery which all).
    b. There may be a virus infect in my laptop which was remove my recovery file in the hidden partition (ridiculous, you can delete some files in the drive on which you cannot yet access).
    c. I should create a recovery disc when the first time LAPTOP computer service. Which it is recommended, I get a question that if I do not, or I forgot to do so, this means that the software will automatically delete the system restore image file? I have no answer for that.

State (when I try to post this messgae), I'm still waiting for the staffs of complaint call fomr back (very tie when you talk in support of service these days).

NOTE 2: I would like to raise these issues, not because I want something (I do both IT support) complaints but I just want to solve the problem:

    1. is there some sort (software) allow me to access the hidden drive in and out of recovery disc image, my laptop still have the partition.

    2. is there a link I can download image recovery (in iso format) disc again? I've known it is not a question of wise, but when I ask the support staff that can re - install windows vista with the license key from the bottom of the laptop and has advised that it is not work or turn on.

    3. is there someone out there has similar problem

    Hi Thomas

I have a European model A200 (don t know what you model is) and the A200 was NOT equipped with the option of HARD drive recovery! This means that you cannot create your own recovery disk!
My laptop came with the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs!

Still is it that your 1.46 GB hidden partition is not the Toshiba recovery partition but Vista hidden partition. It contains the WinRE files that are useful for repairing the operating system if something will go wrong!

Second, the Toshiba Recovery folder is too big for the partition of 1.46 GB!
So it is not possible that it would be placed on this s partition!

So finally, it seems that you will not be able to create the own recovery disk and therefore, you have to order it from the ASP in your country.

    Welcome them

Hard drive of my Satellite Pro A300 failed. It has now been replaced. I ordered a recovery disk.
This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?

Also, I get this message "BOOTMGR MISSING". The recovery disc will fix this problem too?
    Thanks in advance!

    > I ordered a recovery disk. This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?
    Yes. Without a doubt.

New HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
    If so avoid any problem.

Moreover, A300 works perfectly and much better with Win7 32 bit.
