LabVIEW 2015 SP1 missing palette for target touchpanel

Hello

I had an interesting problem for my installation of sp1 LabVIEW 2015.

When I select a new project for a target of touchscreen, I don't get the palettes to add functions and commands.

The palettes appear, but they are empty.  (Note that if the target is 'My Computer', everything works fine)

After a lot of head scratches and research here, I found that there is a way to manually load the .mnu files to fill palettes.  All seemed well until what all I'm back have had a lot of icons with? in them.

I then tried to install it on some other machines and they all worked well.

Then, I discovered that when you choose a location to load the files .mnu, on my main pc, with the question, he kept pointing to a directory other than the one on my work pc...  I've searched and searched but cannot find where LabVIEW gets to this place.  All my paths are the default.  I even checked the registry keys (that I can find) and they are all ok also.

So, I finished to cheat and copy the .mnu files in the path, its research and its working now.  I am not happy with that as its limit causing me problems if there are updates etc...

My pc was looking for this path

My work pc has been searching for this

I'm guessing that my problem will be solved by resetting the locations by default of LabVIEW, but I can't find a way to do it.   I've done several uninstalls / reinstalls and no still no luck.  If anyone knows where these values are stored, so please let me know.

Concerning

Andy

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for the reply.

I have now managed to solve my problem.

It seems that one of my components labview has not activate properly when I applied the license key.

I ended up asking another activation (via the online system) and it looks like its all working now.

Not sure why LabVIEW behaved as he did, and why there is no indication of a license number.

Very strange.

  • Support of NI CompactRIO for LabVIEW 2015 missing

    Hello

I have one NOR cRIO 9038 I want to use for a project, but I continue to have problems with incompatible software. I downloaded the two 64-bit LabVIEW, CompactRIO 15, FPGA Xilinx tools, FPGA Module OR and then 32-bit LabVIEW. All these components are updated in the Service Manager OR.

I am trying to learn to use this device, and I am going through the guide of http://www.ni.com/compactriodevguide/ where the first example is a Turbine including different screws when you open the files it succesfully scans and all the screws under loads, but only at the opening, I get the following error message

Here is a view of the software installed in my MAX

Looking for 'The NI CompactRIO for LabVIEW 2015 drivers Support' brings me to this page http://www.ni.com/download/ni-rio-15.0/5363/en/ which I already downloaded and installed.

How can I solve this problem?

    Thank you

EDIT: also miss me cRIO sample projects referenced by the guides NOR as a good starting point for any new application. They must be visible when I want to open a new model/sample. Is a further indication that I'm missing something - or should try to reinstall? Simply, I can't understand what it is that I might be missing.

You also have LabVIEW Real-time and LabVIEW FPGA installed? You probably need to install those before the CompactRIO drivers. I don't know if LabVIEW RT/FPGA is supported in LV 64-bit - it does not look like it does in LV 64-bit in your screenshot MAX.

Edit: Sometimes the installation order can be important - LabVIEW/FPGA/RT first and then the CompactRIO drivers - you might want to do a reinstall and see if that sorts it.

  • Is LabVIEW 2015 for Mac?

We have a license for LabVIEW 2015 and received the software on a USB Flash drive.  I have used successfully to install LabVIEW on my Windows PC, but am confused how to install LabVIEW on a Mac.  When we arrived LabVIEW on separate DVD, there was a DVD of MAC or Linux, but there is only this Flash drive.

I searched through files and folders on this drive, looking for Mac and Linux.  The only Mac that I found was "MAComponents", which is a record for the Components Wizard of movement.  Similarly, references to Linux seem to be especially RIO LVRT related and.

I called AND ask for help, but so far have not heard back.  I probably made a mistake in not making a formal request for Service, but the system was down for the day, I called...

A Web search for a download for LabVIEW 2015 detects a lot of downloads of Windows, but even once, I don't (yet) found nothing for Mac.  I don't know miss me something (like 'just connect the Flash drive to a Mac, and it will "do the right thing") - I must confess that I did not (yet) experience that I just mentioned...

  • The PSC-2000 is programmable with LabVIEW 2010 SP1 / Real Time 10.0.1?

I have a PSC-2000 camera I want to use for a small project.  I see on the site OR that it is said»

  • "Support for LabVIEW Real-time 8.5.1 and earlier" and "Support for Windows Vista and earlier versions.  It means that I can not use the latest version of LabVIEW (2010 SP1) with time real (version 10.0.1) running on a Windows 7 computer?  If not, what version of LabVIEW, real-time and operating system do I need?
  • When I tried to add a new target under LabVIEW 2010 SP1, the PSC-2000 was not among the choices.

As the support NOR documents indicate, you need LV version 8.5.1 or earlier to program the cFP-20xx devices family.  Version 8.5.1 of LabVIEW does not work under Win7.  You will need Windows Vista or something earlier like XP.

  • LV 2015 SP1 device drivers

Can someone send me the link to download the device drivers for 2015 SP1. I just downloaded a copy of sw development assessment and want to install device drivers as well. Thank you.

So NEITHER moved to what they call a web-based installer.

    http://www.NI.com/product-documentation/52396/en/

Basically instead of download every thing you need, you downoad a small installer, which you run and tell him what you want to download things, or do you want to install.  Here's one for 2015 SP1.

    http://www.NI.com/download/Web-based-installer-LabVIEW-development-system-2015-SP1/5865/en/

Run it and choose to download the things you want, let download them and then run the program again, but this time selection install.  The advantage of this is you get the tools you want, but do not need to be invited to swap disks, or point to new locations, you just get an installer that runs through all the things you want.

BTW device drivers is one of the download options in the web installer.

  • Installation of the Module LabVIEW 2012 SP1 FPGA with LabVIEW 2012 SP1 64 bit on Windows 7 X 64 machine.

I installed 32-bit and 64-bit LabVIEW 2012 SP1 on Windows 7 X 64 computer. After that, I installed SP1 FPGA Module. While module FPGA completely installed in the 32-bit version and could develop projects fpga, FPGA interface has not installed the 64-bit version. Anyone had this before question?

The document 5WMF8NQ2 knowledge base says it's doable.

I have tried to repair the installed module, remove and then reinstall the module. Nothing helped me to get the FPGA interface on a 64-bit host VI. Any suggestions? Addition of the individual screws through the range of editing functions like a tedious process and the palette is not completely functional.

I solved the problem. Had to repair each driver separately for LabVIEW 2012 SP1 64 bit installed on the default drive. You may need to copy paste files to the folder that it installed in function.

  • LabVIEW 2015 "not responding" on the open project

I worked on two projects in LabVIEW 2015 for awhile.

Today I wanted to install an upgrade to SP1 2015 LabVIEW. This included a patch for 2015 SP1 f1.

After installation and reboot, I opened one of my projects again. LabVIEW froze with "do not answer" in the title.

After several minutes, I noticed that the Project Explorer had indeed appeared, but when I do something (try opening a .vi) it freezes and crashes again.

I tried to open the other project, and it works fine.

I have the same exact files on a laptop, that I haven't had not upgraded to SP1 f1, and everything works fine there.

I have troubleshooted for a little while, but decided to uninstall SP1 and reinstall 2015.

After doing this, I still have the same problem with the number 1 of the project.

I will attach the .lvproj here, in case someone is a magician and can say something to him.

LabVIEW hangs on the message "opening Hawk.lvproj.

Any advice or help is welcome! Thank you!

    Concerning

    Oksavik

As I mentioned the Project Explorer seemed finally after about 10 minutes of "not responding".

I clicked 'save everything' and left. Upon return, this is sensitive yet and since then: no problem.

I don't know what caused it, but 'save everything' seems to have solved any problem LV had with my project folder.

Maybe this will help someone else in the future.

  • Compilation of Xilinx not installed labview 2015 FPGA tools

    Hello

I just installed Labview 2015 + FPGA Module on my computer with an older version of Labview 8.6.

When I compile a labview FPGA project 2015 I got this error message "year error occurred while communicating with the server compilation" and warning "tools of Compilation of Xilinx not installed."

I can assure you that my server of 2015 lunch perfectly and I installed everything correctly. I assure that it is a conflict between labview 8.6 and 2015 therefore uninstalled the older one.

The problem is my build configuration is set to Xilinx 10.1 (which should be 14.7) and there is no way to change this.

After looking around I found that Labview looking for best compilation tools then maybe this is not the problem

    Is there something I missed?

    Kind regards

    Hello

I found the source of the problem. The FPGA, I used was based on a FPGA Virtex II matrix that is not compatible with this version of the build tools.

    Thanks for helping me!

  • Backward compatible? Can I write software in 2015 SP1 and expect it to work well in 2013 SP1? What are the features will not work?

I need to set up some labview on my current computer software and run it on another computer in another country in a month. I was told that the computer I will eventually run from abroad Labiew 2013 SP1. I don't have a Labview on my computer today and thought I would setup the same SP1 version ito 2013 compatibility. However, it seems that this is not an option. When I go to download products my options are 2012, 2012 SP1, SP1 for 2014, 2015 and 2015 SP1.

So what's the best move here? Can I install 2015 SP1 and wait that everything works ok when I go abroad? I guess not. Why 2013 SP1 is not an option for me? Should I see if guys abroad can upgrade to the latest version? What happens if they can't?

    Thank you

    Trevor

As others said, the best option is to get the same version. If for some reason you cannot really, I suggest you get an older version, because then you can write the code in a newer version and backsave, there are at least two issues that may bite you if you are not well aware of how they work:

    1. If you have used the new features, they will not work in the old code. What you get in fact depends on the specific feature you are using.
    2. When you backsave, I'm sure that LV is a hierarchy save, which means, if you have screws located in the external files that are not vi.lib, it will create copies and you might have a more difficult time sorting out the dependencies.

This occurs if you are using an older version, because the most recent version will simply open it.

  • LabVIEW 2014 SP1, hardware and real-time PXI

I'm doing my third LabVIEW Wipe/reinstall in as many days, completely frustrated (and after several calls an hour with the support of NEITHER).  Here's the situation:

I wrote a fairly large (1000 VI) project of Acquisition/control of our graduate students data used for behavioral experiment on sound localization.  It was developed in 2012 LabVIEW with the module running on a PC/PXI system real time.  It worked very well and was brought successfully under LabVIEW 2014 (with upgrades comparable to the software of the PXI.

About 18 months ago the students began to write their theses, and at one point stopped gathering data.  Also, at some point, I upgraded the software on this system to LabVIEW 2014 SP1, but I am not sure that I never tested my software with this new system.

This week, I pulled up the system to use MAX to open some test on the PXI multifunction and DIO card panels to control manually one of the stimuli.  I discovered that MAX could not communicate with the advice on the PXI system - he attributes them as devices VISA, indicating each Board with an icon with a red X means that he could not communicate with the IP that I had assigned to PXI.  Yet, MAX (a) could "discover" this PXI, (b) MAX can 'see' its IP address, and (c) Windows could not only Ping the IP, but could FTP on the drive of the PXI and I could move files back and forth.

I did two sequences complete "Wipe/reinstall" using LabVIEW 2014 SP1, all giving the same result.  I know it has worked in the past, including when I installed LabVIEW 2014 (without SP1), something I repeat myself now with my third installation.  I discussed with OR (thin?) possibility that there is a "hidden defect" in the Distribution of the SP1, one that is visible to LabVIEW RT users using PXI hardware and go unnoticed because (a) install a few sites of LabVIEW versions SP1, (b) a minority use the RT Modules and (c) PXI is "old material".

If anyone has such a system or saw a similar problem, please answer.  I'll do a follow-up post if I managed to 'fix' my system by this last reinstallation "a solution of worked before."

    Bob Schor

Well, the answer is that, in my system, LabVIEW 2014 SP1 with LabVIEW Real-time connected to a PXI system does not appear to connect to boards plugged into the chassis.  Returning to LabVIEW 2014 (fall release), installed in exactly in the same way that the three failed attempts of LabVIEW 2014 SP1, works immediately.  Engineers OR will try to duplicate/verify/possibly patch? in this issue.

  • Range of custom error codes and error rings/Labview 2013 SP1

    Hello

for the error message personalized codes there are these assigned ranges:
    -8999-by-8000
    5000 to 9999
    500 000 to 599 999

If I create an "error ring" in Labview 2013 SP1, then I am able to choose predefined error codes or I can put in some custom error codes. Curious as I was I chose 'Labview' in the menu drop down and looked up some error codes. I noticed that there are some affected error codes that are of the order of custom error codes (see attachment) of 538170 to 538193.

Is this a bug or feature? What is the impact if I defined error codes customized with identical, already existing error codes?

    Kind regards

    Thomas

    Thomas,

It seems you have installed ModBus library. As it is an additional package, picking "custom error codes" is not bad even if the library fits in LV...
