LabVIEW XML, GXML or EasyXML?

I develop routines to collect behavioural data.  I want to generate a "header file" that contains two types of data - experience at the level of (constant) data, such as the name of the object, the material settings, date, etc. and 'trial trial' data, such as what stimulus was used and what response was recorded.  I have will also be the collection of analog and digital data in separate files and record "pointers" in these files as part of data "trials."

I happened to use XML to write the header file.  My thoughts are that the 'readable' was a plus, and the file format would be 'naturally' headed by the data that is generated.

I noticed that there are three sets of XML routines, the 'native' screws of XML of LabVIEW, one OR 'package' called GXML, and a set of routines of JKI called EasyXML.  Other than if one assumes that EasyXML is "easy-to-use", are there recommendations or suggestions about which to use?  They have different functional properties?  What are the reasons to prefer one over the other?

After doing some tests, the winner seems to be... (drum roll, please)... GXML.  It produces output "appearing to own", is pretty easy to use and has features 'editable' (I made a few "improvements" that make it more forgiving data I throw at it).  Hope she continues to get support from the community and NEITHER and became perhaps best known and most easily available.

  • create multiple xml attributes

    Hi all

I'm not very experienced with the LabVIEW XML functions... so far I find that they are a major pain in the banana, in fact.  I got as far as being able to analyze an existing xml file, but now I need to write a.

The file I'm writing is quite simple: one tag with several attributes.  Because multiple data sources will create these files, I do not have the option of joyfully using the schema of LabVIEW and trust that everything will be fine.  In addition, these features give enough visibility on what is written where and how and I'm nervous about 'black boxes' - I would like to know exactly what is happening and where, when I write code.  Therefore, I must use XML to create this file instead.

A search revealed the Forum code to create a unique attribute.  When I try to adapt this code to create several attributes, I get error-2602: node inserted in the wrong place.

Can someone please look at this example and tell me where I blew it away?  I'm sure it's something stupid, but I can't.

    Thank you all!

    Diane

You were very close.  Just move the append method of the child outside the loop and you're all good. The child is the element, in order to generate (name, value, attributes), then add it.

  • Reading XML file problem

    Hi all

I'm reading an xml file and displays the output. I get a blank screen. Can someone help me please.

    Thanks in advance

I can't attach the xml file. Since this is not a valid extension. Please find the following xml code.

If you can change the saved .xml file, you can modify it to be compatible with Labview XML shema and use Unflatten of XML as in your VI. If you can't, you must use the XML parser library. Attached, you will find 2 exmaples for these situations.

  • Reading the data from a fichierXML

I was given a measurement file that is stored in XML format, I need to extract some data.  I spent a large part of the morning passes through all XML I could find trying to figure out how to start.  I also downloaded the packages GXML and EasyXML VI.  The problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to use one of these files because all of the examples I see are beautiful small files and I don't know how to apply them to my folder.

The first thing I'm doing is to extract data, called CentralTilt.  If I look at the XML mapping in Excel it would report the acquisitions-> SystemConfig-> data.  In Excel when I extract these data, I get a column of values about 1200.  I'm trying to do the same thing, but place them in a table in Labview.

At the end of the day, I need to do a several other values in the file and then perform additional handling, this is why I would try to automate this process in Labview.  I think that if I can just go beyond this first hurdle to not really understand how these different functions of XML called on the file and analyze the data I should be able to figure out the rest.  Some advice would be appreciated.    Thank you.

Unfortunately, I can't post the file as it is too big, but I have a screen capture of the XML mapping.

Received warnings during conversion, you may need to replace a part of the used screw (load and close screw).

  • Can I automate creating a cluster in LabView using the structure of data created in a generated automatically. CSV, C header or XML file?

Can I automate creating a cluster in LabView using the data structure created in an auto generated. CSV, C header or XML file?  I am trying to take the data structure defined in one or more of these files listed and have LabView automatically create a cluster with structure types and the same data.  (Ideally, I would like to do it with a C header file only.)  Basically, I'm trying to avoid having to create the cluster by hand, as the number of cluster elements could be very large. I looked in EasyXML and contacted the rep for the add-on.  Unfortunately, this feature was not created yet.  Did anyone done something like this before? Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Reading an XML created previously by LabView

    Hello world

My problem is, as the title says, I need to read data from an XML file, if the file does not exist, creates it LabView. So far, it's working. After the creation, when I start the subroutine and want to read the data from the XML file, it brings me Code Error 1006 and tells me something not being able to read as "the XML tag is not the same type as the type of the variable is connected." (roughly translated from German)

The Variable I want to read something is a Cluster consisting of 2 Clusters constisting of 1) two digital items and 2) a string and an array of 1 d of 12 digital element.

The part that confuses me is that LabView saved the data itself without problems and in its own XML format. So it shouldn't really raise no problem read now back to the same variable, does?

If someone has an answer, I'm happy whatever it is, this has been driving me crazy all day

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Pedro

My LabViewers colleagues, the problem is resolved.

He seems to have been a problem with the different data types that I didn't know, as the type of data in my cluster in the routine of writing did not differ from that of the routine of reading.

Thank you very much for your help, I would have not had the patience to step through this code carefully once more, if it wasn't for your efforts.

Have a good day a congratulations to you all!

    Kind regards

    Pedro

  • Excel to XML for labview

I try to import data that is written/modified in excel in labview.  I want to save the file in XML format and then import it into Labview during execution of rpgram.  Is there a simple way to do this without writing a lot of custom parsing code?  Excel is a file save as XML spreadsheet or save it as XML data file, as well with the extension XML file names, but doesn't seem to be easily importable in labview.

    Any ideas?

  • transform xml using Labview report programmatically

I want to turn the report xml standard for Teststand in a more user-friendly format for users who need to view reports, but do not have access to the test station.  Check out the attached code.  It should work, but I get this error. "Objects of type"Script2"need not have such a member" "Script2" made reference to node msxsl: script javascript in the stylesheet horizontal.xsl Teststand.

Well, I was just busy with the same question.

I did a VI that transforms an XML in HTML.

Input: output the XML and the path to the style sheet, an HTML tag in the same folder.

    Made in Labview 8.5.

I have only tested with horizontal.xsl, as this is the format that I always use.

  • Loading XML Labview schema files in python(or matlab)

    Hello

Does anyone have experience loading labview XSD in python or matlab or similar?  Or is there a better format to the output into that could have an easier interface.  I guess I want to be able to use the labview interface I have as much as possible, but to any other treatment elsewhere.  Vaguely hoped that there could be a simple conversion or schema imput I can use - without having to maintain several different sets of input\output code on different systems - ideas?

    JP

    Thank you

So I guess if you want something doing...

I have implemented something that helps with analysis of the XML in python.  I must say that I have not tested much, but it seems to do the simple things I need ok at the moment. I have the joint where it might be useful for someone else.

Basically, the two files that you need are LabviewXMLDataLoader.py and ContextDict.py - the first is the module that parses the XML, the second is a module that I also stole and maimed so that its easier to have nested 'dicitionaries"which I think are the closest in python to clusters in LV

PulsedMeasurement_v2.py is an example of how I load a lv object variables into a python object.

Anyway, as I said it is not perfect, but it's a starting point.

  • can we do complex arithmetic in xml and access in labview?

    Hello

I'm using LabVIEW 8.5. I did 1 project how far I used Excel to perform complex arithmetic and then read results

Thanks to labview. I'm just curious about Xml. It can be used for what purpose? What is a good alternative for excel? because I read on the internet

that the execution of xml is faster than the .doc and .xls files?  Can we use as database for labview application?

    Help, please

    Thank you

    Gerard

Transport as in a format for transmitting data from one PC to another or one application to another.

Excel is a spreadsheet.  It stores its data in a strictly binary file with the extension .xls format.  The latest applications of MS Office can also store their data in a text based XML file format and have extensions such as .xlsx.

XML is just a data storage format, it has nothing to do with the calculations.  LabVIEW can make calculations as complicated as Excel.  I would say it is complicated even more features that the application MS Excel does not.

Why are you concerned an XML file?  Instead of comparing apples and oranges (i.e. formats of files of applications), please tell us what kind of calculations you are trying to do.  The calculations have absolutely nothing to do with the file formats.

  • XML LabVIEW vIs omit line breaks

If all goes well miss me something really simple here... I created an XML file, adding a few nodes child nested and save the XML. All works well except for the fact that LabVIEW does not line insert (or any white space also) between my knots. This makes the document which results almost unreadable by humans, which was the whole point to store this data in XML format initially. Any suggestions? Essentially, the screws of XML of LabVIEW output is as follows:

And what I really want is the following:

There is also a method Save File (Pretty Print), you could use.

I usually play with the text that is why I use the XML get and save the text.

  • [Database Toolbox] possibility to Load From xml file in Labview and then in the database

Before you write in my database, I want to save it and reload if the user wants to cancel the new charge that can last several minutes.

If he cancels the load I get back my previous database data.

I managed to save my database in XML through the "DB tools SaveRecordSet To File" VI. This VI records directly contains my database table in the xml file. And finally, I only if the other VI to load file will do the same thing, means load the file and save it in my database but it gives just a recordset in labview.

Question: is it possible just to load the xml file into the database directly through Labview?

Why, finally, these screws do not have the same behavior?

I don't know, but I just thought I would chime, that if you fail to do with LabvIEW, you might want to look by making your writing in a 'Transaction' database, if your DBM takes in charge (most except MS Access)

  • IMAQdx attributes listed in the xml file not found in labview

    Hello

Some attributes of my camera our watch camera (DALSA CamExpert) software but are not displayed in MAX.

When I opened the xml file, I don't see a difference between the attributes shown and hidden.

Why LabView displays all possible attributes?

The sml file has specific requirements?

    Any ideas?

    Hello Eric,

    I solved the problem yesterday!

I use a DALSA camera. Dalsa software downloads the XML file and saves it in a directory 'dalsa"on my local disk.

National instruments software (MAX) downloaded XML file and saves it in another directory. The 2 files were not equal. I replaced the XML file OR the XML of Dalsa file and now I'm able to get all attributes.

    But thanks for your response!

    Kind regards

  • publish a report xml with LabVIEW

    All,

I'll try to find a solution to my problem and I hope someone out there has an idea for me to try.

My problem is I want to launch a test .xml report (which was created with TestStand) using LabVIEW for a user to view/print.  I created a simple vi of drop-down lists for a user to select the report that they want to see and I spent one way; the problem is that I do not know how launching this .xml in a kind of Viewer, my idea was to use internet explore, because it's the print controls, but the only function I can find to help "Open a URL in the default browser" and the error I see is attached (looks like I sends you something he dislikes) (, so I don't know if this feature is available for what I need because the links of my path to my files correctly with windows Explorer).

A bit of history, I'm basically just trying to restrict the user to only view reports and not navigate around in my directories and then add this control to my operator TestStand Interface (I use the simple interface for TestStand 2012), its as simple as that.

    My question has 2 components:

    (1) anyone would be able to start on the path to open a xml report in Internet Explorer using LabVIEW?

    (2) does anyone know of a better way to solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Bill

You can use a container of the WebBrowser .NET - believe it will display XML without problem, and then you can simply call the method 'print '.

  • LabVIEW crashes again and again THAT XML performance Associates screws

I use LV 2009 SP1 and have worked for several days and nights on a XML parser.

The code uses a lot of recursive algorithms and everything was tested yesterday and worked OK.

Continued work today, all of the code yesterday still worked up to a point in time (no id why) it just stopped, LV hangs and crashes then momentarely.

Boost LV, open code, run only an associated XML VI and I blocked again...

When LV falls down, its CPU usage is close to 0% and the memory usage about 128 MB of RAM (by default) so nothing fancy there.

It seems that the parser XML of LV is dead? I tried to locate the source of the accident, but every time I think "this must be it" by isolating part of the code, blocking something else - but still associated with XML.

I was happy to see that the work is progressing, and now I have come to a stopping point.

I'm now 'fix' LV via Add/Remove Programs console. No idea if this will do anything.

I must say that I have LV8.6.1 and LV2009SP1 installed together. I haven't opened that one version of LV at the time, and for this project, I'm under LV2009 since last week. Not once LV 8.6.1 Meanwhile, I started and I had no problems with my code so far. I also copied the contents of some new VI VI and saved again (maybe the VI has been altered due to the accident), but this did not help at all. I also rebooted the PC, but no, LV keeps crashing. Other code still works, but associated XML VI tend and especially the recursive programmed crash of XML VI. Would it maybe the VI Server? Come to think of it: to program a VI of recursively, you must do a recursive callback by the VI server. Maybe the error lies?

suggestions, ideas, whatever it is: welcome!

    Thank you!

Last night I solved the problem and indeed the other topic you mentioned is correct. It's actually a premature closure of the DOM reference that triggered the LV crashing. Very hard to debug because I use it in a recursive algorithm, but I managed to locate the error.

LV reinstalled, but it kept if crush on so I was sure that it is thanks to my coding :-)

I have to remember myself from time to time that all errors are human...

Glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with these problems so thanks again Ajmal!
