Lack of disk space

Hi all

I have a problem with my SSD 512 GB on my Macbook Pro retina 2013. 80 GB are missing and I do not know where... I've looked everywhere, I have no other partition on my Macintosh HD (2 years ago I used BootCamp with Windows, then removed and also deleted the partition), I have only one user...

Here are some screenshots where we see that about 300 GB are used, and only 110 GB are available (500-110 = 390), so there are 80 GB missing somewhere but I don't know where, he did for months and I can't:

And during a verification with OmniDiskSweeper, it's the same space as Finder (about 300GB):

Please help me!   Thanks to you all!

I found it!

First, run OmniDiskSweeper with terminal sudo to run it as an administrator:

# sudo OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper

And here we are...

Two hidden directories:. MobileBackups &. MobileBackups.trash = 80 GB.

It's a local backup to TimeMachine, useless in my case, so here is the command to turn it off:

# sudo tmutil disablelocal

And here we go, 80 GB free space! I found out about this here: https://classicyuppie.com/what-crap-is-this-os-xs-mobilebackups/

Hope this will help others

  • Message "you run lack of disk space on RECOVERY (d :))".

    From: Robert judge

On my new VISTA PC, I tried to use the built-in backup program.  The back-up apparently failed because there is not enough room on the "RECOVERY disk (d).

Now, when I restart my new VISTA PC, I get this message:

"Low Disk Space you run lack of disk space on RECOVERY (d). To free up space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click here... »

When I "click here," I gave then "disk for RECOVERY (D :). cleanup.  Disk Cleanup offers "Office installation files" and "Basket", but both have "0 bytes" so I can't free up space in this way.

When I open the backup and Restore Center and try to back up files, the program starts by "creating a shadow copy.  However, I then get a message:

"An error has occurred...". There is not enough space to save the backup files.

Free some disk space or change your backup settings. (0x81000005).»

If I have little space on"RECOVERY", I only need saved Documents.  But even when I check only the 'Documents', I get the same error message.

I think that I should delete the contents of the D RECOERY and try again.  However, there seems to be some files that are already installed on RECOVERY D.  However, I see a folder called "game 2008-06-08 backup 193208," which I suppose is the backup failed I tried on 6 June.  Should I just remove this folder and try again?  Or y at - it another way I should try to use the program "backup and restore"?  I'd appreciate advice.

    Mickie,

As Ryan has noted, the recovery disk D should not be used for storage, do you have anything installed to him directly?

If you're trying to backup, then cancelled or failed, then follow these instructions:

    1. Click on the Logo Windows (start)-> type to start searching the backup status and Configuration
    2. Next to the "automatic backup is currently activated" click on Turn Off
    3. Close the window.

Then, we will need to remove the incomplete files on your D drive.

To do this, you will need to click on start click on computer, and then double-click Disk Local (d)

Here you will find two things, a Mediaid.bin file and a file with the same name as your computer (you can check by finding a backup set inside this folder), you must remove both to get rid of the message. Let us know if you need help, to know the name of this folder.

my windows vista computer is to download a lot of updates which will create the lack of disk space in my hard C drive? Please help...

    You already have disk cleanup?

    Please use this tutorial:
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76073-disk-cleanup.html

The Atlantic tutorial has 2 parts:
Step 1 to 11 is for the classic disk cleanup which will give you back some disc FEPs.
Step 12 until the end (more), is to delete all except the most recent restore points. This will give bring you a ton of disk space.
ATTENTION: Make sure that your computer works OK because you delete restore points.
You have no past point to fall up to restore more new restore points are created.

This means that the disk is almost full.  Unless you free up space soon, your operating system will start to behave strangely and eventually boot is no longer in Windows.

Windows operating system uses a part of the capacity of the hard drive for virtual memory. A good rule is to never come to 15 to 20 percent of the capacity of the hard disk.

Since the installation of creative cloud, I noticed a lack of disk space, recently I found CC had been storing GB of log files, how can I stop this nonsense? 40 GB of space on my SSD HARD drive was recovered today by disabling the 8.1 windows temp folder. I was wondering what "ACC 22/04/2015-10-09 - 26.log" etc, and when I opened the I was shocked to discover Adobe CC was bringing together these huge logs on my computer since I bought and installed last month. WTF Adobe, how can I turn off or limit, as writes to the SSD of constantly to kill them and I do not consider your logs to be important use of space.

  • Photosmart premium C309g-m: lack of disk space when scanning documents in pdf format for PC

When you try to scan documents to pdf format on my computer (connected via a wired network), including multiple pages, the throws of sweeping to the top of this error message 'More disk space - remove unused files to free disk space' the error code below is 4, [(3,11,0)].

I seem to be OK with a single page at low resolution in B & W - 150 dpi but not more than a few pages to this resolution, or even a single page to a higher resolution and the error message is thrown upwards and will not save the file. Clearly I'm not memory hard drive because there is a lot of space and I tried recording on multiple disks.

If I scan everything straight to a USB stick plugged into the printer it works OK but scan documents as a picture and crops, more it only scans one page and then save it.

I tried to install a patch from this forum question http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/Scan but it made no difference and my windows 7 was not an upgrade of vista

Hope someone can help with this

  • Message "you run lack of disk space on the HP (E) tools'

68 year old novice self-taught.  4 months ago, it happened after I saved a lot of photos on this drive thinking its where I kept safely them not knowing what it does automatically...  Then, the next thing I know it saturates.  I tried to enter that and the other to delete them without success.  I can't remove a restore date as today's date, but I can't go back in 2014 only this year. He also said that he could not download the updates as no space left.   Is there anyway I can get rid of the any tips to free up space.  I don't have a separate to drive in which he mentions.  I don't want to go back to the computer by default as he will lose everything I have updated.  The computer is a Windows 7 Home Premium and about 3 years.   In fact, it is a laptop I hate and who is sitting on a garbage can with a lead on my computer screen and I use a keyboard and a wireless mouse.   do not make laptops.   So I need help please in the simplest of terms.

I suggest you go back to the shop and insist that they show you the HP_TOOLS partition is empty and everything is working normally.

The Hewlett-Packard folder in the folder on your desktop can be slid on the HP_TOOLS disc once it has been emptied. This file is not necessary for the normal operation of your computer. If it isn't there, it simply means that diagnostic tools have not been installed.
