backup failed due to lack of disk space

I get the message that there is not enough disk space for the scheduled backup.  The c: drive is almost full (12KO available) but the D: drive is empty with 111 GB available.  I don't know what to remove to allow more space.

The message reads as follows:
There is not enough space on your Windows drive to prepare for the backup of your files. At least 400 MB of free space is required to continue. (0 x 81000014)

  • Click the Disk Cleanup tab and select the check boxes for files that you want to remove.

  • When you have finished select the files you want to delete, click OK, and then click on delete files to confirm the operation. Disk Cleanup on delete all unnecessary files from your computer.

    • Programs and features. Open programs and features in Control Panel, where you can uninstall programs you no longer use. The column size in programs and features shows how much disk space each program uses.

    • System Restore and shadow copies. Guests delete you all but the most recent restore point on the disc.

Use system restore to return your system files to an earlier point in time, restore points. If your computer is running normally, you can save disk space by removing the previous restore points.

In some editions of Windows Vista, restore points can include previous versions of files, called the shots and backup images created with Windows complete PC Backup. This information will also be deleted. For more information about system restore, search Windows Help and Support 'system restore.

      Hello

When you set up your computer, you must create a backup image of the Windows computer, which is like taking a snapshot of the programs, system and files on your computer settings. You can use this backup if your computer ever stops. Although this type of backup includes your personal files, we recommend that you back up your files regularly using the back up files Wizard. You must also update the Windows complete PC backup image every six months.

If you copied the data from drive E to another location, then it is safe to delete the content in the reader.

    • Message "you run lack of disk space on RECOVERY (d :))".

      From: Robert judge

On my new VISTA PC, I tried to use the built-in backup program.  The back-up apparently failed because there is not enough room on the "RECOVERY disk (d).

Now, when I restart my new VISTA PC, I get this message:

"Low Disk Space you run lack of disk space on RECOVERY (d). To free up space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click here... »

When I "click here," I gave then "disk for RECOVERY (D :). cleanup.  Disk Cleanup offers "Office installation files" and "Basket", but both have "0 bytes" so I can't free up space in this way.

When I open the backup and Restore Center and try to back up files, the program starts by "creating a shadow copy.  However, I then get a message:

"An error has occurred...". There is not enough space to save the backup files.

Free some disk space or change your backup settings. (0x81000005).»

If I have little space on"RECOVERY", I only need saved Documents.  But even when I check only the 'Documents', I get the same error message.

I think that I should delete the contents of the D RECOERY and try again.  However, there seems to be some files that are already installed on RECOVERY D.  However, I see a folder called "game 2008-06-08 backup 193208," which I suppose is the backup failed I tried on 6 June.  Should I just remove this folder and try again?  Or y at - it another way I should try to use the program "backup and restore"?  I'd appreciate advice.

      Mickie,

As Ryan has noted, the recovery disk D should not be used for storage, do you have anything installed to him directly?

If you're trying to backup, then cancelled or failed, then follow these instructions:

      1. Click on the Logo Windows (start)-> type to start searching the backup status and Configuration
      2. Next to the "automatic backup is currently activated" click on Turn Off
      3. Close the window.

Then, we will need to remove the incomplete files on your D drive.

To do this, you will need to click on start click on computer, and then double-click Disk Local (d)

Here you will find two things, a Mediaid.bin file and a file with the same name as your computer (you can check by finding a backup set inside this folder), you must remove both to get rid of the message. Let us know if you need help, to know the name of this folder.

      You already have disk cleanup?

      Please use this tutorial:
      http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76073-disk-cleanup.html

The Atlantic tutorial has 2 parts:
Step 1 to 11 is for the classic disk cleanup which will give you back some disc FEPs.
Step 12 until the end (more), is to delete all except the most recent restore points. This will give bring you a ton of disk space.
ATTENTION: Make sure that your computer works OK because you delete restore points.
You have no past point to fall up to restore more new restore points are created.

This means that the disk is almost full.  Unless you free up space soon, your operating system will start to behave strangely and eventually boot is no longer in Windows.

Windows operating system uses a part of the capacity of the hard drive for virtual memory. A good rule is to never come to 15 to 20 percent of the capacity of the hard disk.

    • Time Machine backup fails because "there is not enough space on the «DiskStation «»

My backups regular TimeMachine to DiskStation stopped working a few months ago.  I thought it was because I ran out of space but now I installed an extra 1 TB RAID and I always get this error message.

Here is the chronology of events that led to the error message.

      16/01/10 23:09 - Backup started manually (1.47 TB TB 2.45 available):

      16/01/10 23:11 - preparation of backup... (1.47 TB TB 2.45 available)

16/01/10 23:15 - "backup: zero KB of 63.8 MB, calculating time remaining..." »

16/01/10 23:22-2.1 MB saved 63.8 and the first estimate of the remaining time: 'about 4 hrs.

      16/01/10 23:50 - now 2.3 63.8 MB MB, 16 hours left (I'm ready for bed).

16/01/10 23:55-5 minutes later and it backed up 419 MB!

16/01/11 00:55 - an hour later and it is up to 6.72 GB but the gas target increased to 7.39 GB (I went to bed)

16/01/11 06:50 - next day morning and it's up to 23,76 GB and the goal is now to 26.13 GB

16/01/11 18:49 - I go home at night and it failed.

Here is the view viewfinder of the TimeMachine file that I am trying to backup (note, a lot of disk space):

This is the view of the Inspector of it:

      System details:

      -MacBook Pro 2013 with OS X 10.11.2

-LAN WiFi Pace 2Wire998 router with DiskStation connected by Ethernet, MacBook Pro by WiFi

-Synology DiskStation DS411slim with 4 x 2.5 "hard drives installed.

A device third-party network attached storage (NAS) or a router is unsuitable for use with Time Machine, especially if it's your only backup. I know that's not what you want to hear. I know that Time Machine accepts the device as a backup destination. I know that the manufacturer says the device will work with Time Machine, and I also know that it usually seems to work. Except when you are trying to restore and find that you can't.

Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification. They all use the application of Netatalk incomplete, obsolete Apple Filing Protocol.

Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

Otherwise, use Time Machine at all. There are other ways to save, although none of them are nowhere near as effective or as well integrated with OS X. I don't have a specific recommendation.

If you are determined to continue to use the device with Time Machine, your only remedy for any resulting problem is the manufacturer (who will blame Apple, neither you nor anyone else but herself.)

I seem to be OK with a single page at low resolution in B & W - 150 dpi but not more than a few pages to this resolution, or even a single page to a higher resolution and the error message is thrown upwards and will not save the file. Clearly I'm not memory hard drive because there is a lot of space and I tried recording on multiple disks.
