Language office (and all menus) are all in strange symbols, even if the language selected is English

I have a Vista Home Premium computer laptop (Toshiba Satellite) which shows strange lines and brands for all of the words on the desktop and menus. I guess it could be a different language, although it looks more like mutilated. I managed to check the regional/language settings (was not easy) and English is selected. Anyone know what is happening and how to fix this without reloading the operating system?

When the problem started happening with the display of strange symbols and marks in your Vista Home Premium?
What has changed in your environment? Did you install a new program or install an update from Windows?

Have you tried running Safe Mode to see if it'll happen here?

If you know when the problem started, you can check and see if you have the system restore back to an earlier point in time. Note: System Restore does not save or delete your personal documents. This means that a document created and saved today is not deleted if you use the system restore. Only some system files and settings are changed when you perform a system restore.

To be sure, save the files before you restore to an earlier point. To restore your system to a previous restore point:

  1. Click Start
  2. Point to all programs
  3. Point to Accessories
  4. Point to System Tools
  5. Click on the system restore and click on the Next button
  6. Select "choose a different restore point" and click the Next button
  7. Select the time of the desired date and restore point description.
  8. Click the Next button.
  9. Click Next to start the restore process.
  10. Click Yes in the confirmation message box that appears.

The computer shut down and on again automatically once the recovery is complete.

    Yes. The rest, we can answer. You wrote a lot, but very little discussion. Instead of accurate information you lose yourself in the vague descriptions. Screw color management to the wrong dimensions that trigger resizing server-side it could be any number of things here.

    A handy utility to view all the files on your PC is called Commander free of charge, on the link below, because it displays the files that the operating system normally hides and has a search function.

    It is a zipped file.  If you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip , which can be used to open it so that you can run the Setup program.

    When it is installed, run Commander for free and see if your missing files are now visible.  If they are, right click the folder they are in and select Properties, clear the check box of the "Hidden" box and click on apply to save the changes.  Then close free Commander and check if the folder and the files it contains are now visible in Windows.

    I used Colormunkie Photo to create a. ICM file for printer calibration.   Faulty when I tried to change the suffix to. ICC under any circumstances he LR4.2 view the file in the menu to select the printer profile.  There are several folders display with two suffixes but no printer to all files.  I tried three times unsuccessfully and cannot think of anything else to try. The first two were the same.  I varied the creating file name suffix in the third.  Help will be appreciated. My OS is Windows 7 ultimate SP1 HP laserjet 2550 L printer.

    Only profiles with the RGB color space appear, with CMYK color space profiles are not displayed and cannot be used by LR.

    Java language rules: an L after a literal integer in Java indicates that this constant should be kept as a long (64 bit signed) instead of int (32 bits signed).

    If you have not used to that, all the numbers on the line would be treated as integers (ints) (32 bit) and multiplier with an int int translates an int even if you want to store in a long.

    Since int cannot fully represent the full product (about 31.5 billion) as it is greater than Integer.MAX_VALUE (2 billion), so if you have not used the long as operands for multiplication, you finally get an incorrect value in MILLIS_IN_YEAR because the last multiplication would cause an overrun.

    It seems that your ID Adobe was initially registered in Pakistan due to which it is not allowing you to make purchases in the United States.

    You can create a new Adobe ID, register in the United States and then it should allow you to make a purchase.

    To check this setting:

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste the media and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) if the preference media.autoplay.enabled is in bold and 'game of the user' to false, you can double-click it to restore the default value true and see if that fixes it

  • Whenever I connect to my PC Pro Windows 8.1, it says prepare office and all files/user settings disappeared

    I restarted my computer this morning and when I connected my domain user, he said that it is "Prepare Windows". When it is started on the desktop, I noticed that all my customizations and documents had disappeared. Then, I added a document on the desktop and restarted the computer. After the reboot, I entered my password of domain (the domain user has been selected by default) and again he said "prepare Windows. I have then to reset the pc by using the update to your PC, remove and reinstall windows. After this process, I reinstalled all the drivers and add the computer to the domain and installed Office. I added Outlook, RUN and a shortened my documents in the start bar and a text file on the desktop. After reboot and the connection with the domain user, once more, he says "prepare Windows. Once more all customizations are missing and the office text file is missing. Navigating to the folder C:\users, the domain user account does not exist (even if I change the folder option see hidden and system files).

    The only user that persists after a reboot is the local user (machinename/user). Even if the user account for the domain is registered to the title of the user accounts, there is no data (c:\users) for this user.

    Some information:

    The two drives of the computer are healthy. Windows updates are performed on a daily basis. AV (Kaspersky Internet Security 2014) is updated on a daily basis. All the drivers for the hardware are up-to-date.

    Creating a new local user work too and I can restart and pass between local users, but I can't create a user in domain evidence of reboot.

  • MS Word turned my office and all the icons have been changed to MS Word. Can't seem to get rid of.

    I am running Windows7 Home Premium. All the icons on my desktop have changed the Word icon, and each icon now on MS Word. I was not able to change this icon back to what they should be. MS Word has hijacked my office.

    I could solve the problem by restarting, F8 to open the boot options, choose the repair mode and system restore to a few days before.

    The user of the pc says it all started when they double click on a file and was prompted to choose a program to open the file with... they chose Microsoft Word and it changed all of their MS Word icons icons.
