  My webcam and everything was working fine last night. I even used my webcam on the new yahoo I had installed a few days before. When I got up this morning and turned on my laptop, I kept getting pop ups every 3 minutes indicating unrecognized USB device despite not having that whatever it is plugged. • R31 - unknown device problem

  I did a reinstall of Windows XP on my A31 and everything is fine, except for a problem of "unknown device" in Device Manager. The information shows that the unknown device on Intel 82801 CAM LPC Interface Controller - 248 C.

  In the past, I used a Thinkvantage system update utility to easily identify driver problems, but apparently, Lenovo saw fit to put an end to this tool.

  I've updated the BIOS, installed utilities from Intel chipset that I could find in the drivers/download section of the Lenovo support site - nothing did the trick so far.

  Overall, I'm looking in vain to understand what is involved. Also, the infrared driver seems to be part of this interface controller, but is shown as having no problem driver and working properly.

  Thoughts?

  OK, so maybe it wasn't the most scientific way to solve the problem, but it worked. I continued working through more all the drivers that I could possibly Lenovo download and kept pointing to different folders through the interface to 'update driver' in Device Manager. Finally, we found something he liked, which indicated "Thinkpad PM device.

  Don't know if this will help anyone else having this problem, but there is to go.

• HP 250 G4: With 4 HP 250 laptop and BT home hub WiFi problem

  I just got a new laptop for my wife and finds it difficult to connect to my wifi at home.  Working wifi and android hotspot is perfectly fine.

  Laptop is 250 (8 GB of Ram, Windows 10 i3) G4, with a Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter.

  It connects to a BT Home Hub.  Whenever I connect to the wifi (Wired is fine) I receive a status 'no. Internet, secure '.

  All other devices in the House can connect properly, Inc. Windows 10 Tablet.

  The HP laptop connects to my wifi works and my android hotspot, but not the BT Home Hub.

  I tried to update the drivers and factory reset the laptop.

  Everyone comes through this, or have any ideas I can try before I have to send the laptop back?

  Problem solved!  It seems I've hit a form any limit of IP on the BT home hub.

  I deleted the old devices from the homehub admin screen and was able to connect with no issues.

  Have a Satellite A500 I recently restored to factory from the recovery partition and reinstalled my Win7 upgrade.

  I have a couple of unknown devices in Device Manager and have no way of knowing what they are.
  They would normally be a problem for me except that I'm also the sounds of disconnecting USB every now and then and caveats relating to the devices being plugged into a port USB2 not high speed.

  I have of course plugged anything in time so I expect there is a device which is malfunctioning and not detected correctly.

  The devices I first suspected (webcam, TV Tuner, touchpad) all normally appear in Device Manager so I'm at a loss as to what is the cause.

  Any ideas?

  You restored the A500 to the factory settings using the Toshiba recovery procedure and the unknown devices still shows up in the Device Manager?

  That s strange because the recovery disk to put the laptop in the same State as on the first day of purchase. So generally unknown devices should not appear and all drivers must be installed correctly.

  However, I found an interesting and in my eyes useful HowTo document that should help you to know which drivers are missing in your case.

  When I tried this out of the box, it worked fine, I can transfer files and everything, problem was that it would connect to usb 1.0. So I checked the bios the usb options have been enabled, I unplugged all the usb cables, I tried different usb, always usb ports 1 only. Ive tried to reinstall the drivers for the mobo cd and the official site. Still connected in usb 1.

  So I re installed Service pack 2, since then windows guard see the HD as unknown device now, and I can't access the HD. So yah SP2 makes things worse. I thought a restoration system, but since January 1, my previous save points seems to have disappeared.

  I can't find any drivers associated with this product on this site... Its a Toshiba 320 GB USB 2.0 external hard drive.
  Ive also tried going into win xp in safe mode, remove all controllers and usb devices, restart in normal mode, wait 5 minutes for the reconstruction of the database, then plugged back in the ex - HD, said peripheral unknown. Ive tried to update driveer with windows looking for me and myself to the research in the win xp cd and the file I386 etc..

  I did the Windows 10 downgrade to windows 7 64 bit on a G4 to 250 HP (Intel 2 GHz i3) and after installing all the drivers for my laptop still have unknown device. It has the following description:

  In fact, there is a better solution now.

  I zipped and attached the fix from Microsoft to activate the TPM on W7 2.0 below.

  Download, unzip and run the file.
