Laptop + LPT (on the Docking station) is working?

Installation program:

Host: 6.5.3 on Windows XP SP3 (laptop + docking station)

Comments: Debian 5.03 (doesn't really count)...

After I have add the parallel port (with the laptop docked, of course) and start the virtual machine, I get the error:

09:58:53.723 Jan 04: vmx | Serial0: using auto detection backend LPT1.

09:58:53.723 Jan 04: vmx | Serial0: do NOT open the parallel port driver
.\Global\VMparport1 error 0 x 2-ParallelHost_DeviceConnect()

09:58:53.723 Jan 04: vmx | Msg_Post: error

09:58:53.723 Jan 04: vmx | http://Msg.parallel.badDriver could not open VMparport driver for LPT1: the operation completed successfully

09:58:53.723 Jan 04: vmx | http://Msg.device.badconnect unable to connect the virtual device Serial0.

I did a search on LPT port parallel, found very little.

Issues related to the:

(1) when I installed VMWare, I don't have the docking station attached. This causes a problem? I moved back with her to dock, if anyone thinks that this will help

(2) I understand about the limitations of devices on the "motherboard". Is a docking station a motherboard or an external device?

Properties (on the host), he lists as:

"on Intel(r) ICH9M - E LPC Interface Controller - 2917' so I think that it is considered as part of the motherboard.

In addition, the driver installed is the standard XP OS driver:

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\parport.sys.

I tried the two autodetect and specifying the port existing (LPT1).

(3) the vmware tools are NOT installed in one of the guests. -Is this necessary?

(4) also tried logging on to the host computer with administrator privileges (normally I run as a user on the host). Didn't seem to make a difference.

Any suggestions?

Workstation 7.x is not an option right now (too many bugs for me right now)

Thank you.

If they are it would be really better everything clean and re-install.

    Hello

    ·         If it works well before? If so, remember to do recent changes on the computer before this problem?

When you connect the laptop to the docking station, the default audio output device will automatically change to the docking station. Similarly, in the case of plug in the headphones on laptop. I suggest you to check if the audio device by default from computer speakers is properly defined. Follow these steps:

    a. click the Start button, select Control Panel, click hardware and soundand then click sound.

    b. click the read tab make sure that the correct default audio device is selected. (For most users, the default audio device is pregnant.)

    c. If your default device is not set to the right audio device, on the read tab, select the appropriate device, click Properties, click the Advanced tab and make sure that the default Format is set to the value you expect. When you are finished, click OK.

    Hello

I have a xps M1710 laptop. I normally use a docking station and the internal network card works fine when the laptop is in the docking station. But now when I remove the laptop from the docking station for the network adapter is disconnected.

  • Laptop with docking home & two monitors... need to get laptop to work after the withdrawal of the docking station

It drives me crazy.  I have a work Dell laptop connected to a station host and two double monitors. It works very well at the office that I work mainly on two large dual screens.  When I remove the laptop from the docking station and bring home the computer starts and displays a portion of my homescreen (like an extended display).  But I can't do anything else with it. I can't access my files or anything.

What I want to do now that I'm home with my laptop is to redo the settings so that the laptop is my main screen.  The normal methods of right click and change the screen resolution do not work because I can't access my Windows start tab.  Any ideas...

    Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to determine the root cause of the problem.

    1. What is the number and model of your computer and the graphics card?

    2. Have you tried to monitor primary as secondary and vice versa?

    3. All device drivers are updated?

Windows can detect automatically that an additional screen. If you connect two or more monitors, you must manually designate the primary display, arrange your desktop, and apply display settings, such as color depth and screen resolution. So, the next time that you connect these monitors, Windows automatically identifies the primary display and applies the settings that you previously specified for each additional display.

Try the methods mentioned below and see if it helps.

    Method 1

If you haven't tried Exchange monitors so I suggest you to try and see if the problem still occurs.

To change the settings of two monitors you can consult the links below:

Note: This link is also applicable for Windows 7 .

    Method 2

If the problem persists I suggest you to update the display drivers. As the display drivers for two monitors are not the same, so try to update and check the status.

    Hello

With Docking Station, you can connect all the cables for printer, keyboard and mouse, adapter directly to the charging station.

So whenever you use a laptop, you have just dock the laptop on the docking station and not need to re connect all cables again.

This will help you when you move frequently with the laptop.

Docking station will save your time, outside any other aspect, that it has to offer.

    Hi all

As I say, I have intermittent problems where the machine crashes when you use the docking station. Sometimes at the beginning of the startup of windows then stalls and powers of fan at full power. If I take off the base of the machine, it works fine.

I bought this machine because I had one in my previous job and he had found great. However, my only previous also had this problem sometimes when lashing...

    Any assistance received very warmly.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Stand by. You have noticed this behavior when the laptop is OFF, connect to the docking station and after doing this you turn. Am wrong me or have I misunderstood something?

Maybe's external screen connected to the docking station?

  • No bass when you use the docking station to not probe

When I use the out port of my docking station (Series edited by moderator) I get no bass sound, just hail my wide range speaker. When the speakers are plugged into the headphone jack directly on the laptop it normal sound, with a full range of sounds. I checked the setting in the CP of its speakers are identified as the range, so this isn't the issue. There is no sound improvement enabled in Control Panel SRS. I'm puzzled. Why no bass when you use the docking station only. I tried two different docking stations with the same result: no bass.

Yes! I finally solved it on my system:

    • Go to the control panel
    • Choose the material and audio

or simply to display all Control Panel items

    • Select SRS Premium Sound Pro (it's an icon of circle blue/white)
    • Wait for the program to come black EQ
    • Select the tab/words "listening experience" near the top of the window of SRS Premium Sound PRO
    • Uncheck the 'improvement of Audio '.

    Fact

In addition, there is the graphic equalizer in there that totally works well to further fine tune your desired speaker and the audio preference.

  • The docking station is friendly with battery

    Hello!

First post here, not the user lenovo at the moment but I'll receive a lenovo R61 with mini dock station.

My question its more general. I heard a lot of time to removed the battery from my laptop when I work in the sector do not overheat and kill the battery life.

To the docking station, stop charging the battery when it is full.

    Thank you.

    Tom

    Tom, welcome to the forum,

The battery stops when it is full, whether it's in a cradle or attached to a power adapter.

Alternatively, you can change the thresholds of charge based on your usage using the software of energy Manager tool that is included.

Enjoy your new ThinkPad when it arrives.

  • X 200 with ssd OCZ blue screens at the start of the docking station

The 200 x blue screens when the startup of the docking station. If I take the laptop to the docking station to start and then once booted dock the laptop is fine.

The issue started happening when you I upgraded the laptop form a SSD OCZ vertex 2 drive from xp to windows 7 and installed.

I tried to update the firmware on the ssd using this utility

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-69806

The program showed that my ssd was running firmware version 1.29 and that he did not need to be updated.

I also tried to update the x 200 to the latest version of the BIOS. Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 does not start a compatibility. I solved the problem by returning to a mechanical drive.

  • Extremely frustrating mouse double click when you use the docking station?

I have a mobile workstation 15 zbook and love it.  I have a docking station at work and even from one station to the House.

When I plug the docking to the mouse House will be double-click whenever I have one click.  Simple click, I have to quickly move out of the object or it clicks double in each time.   I tried a new mouse, to reduce the speed of double click and is NOT the case on my docking station at work or when the laptop computer use with the mouse connected locally.

It of extremely frustrating and makes working at home a pain rather than productive.

You ask if anyone has seen elsewhere, or have any suggestions?

    Hello @romatlo,

I read your post about how how your laptop will be double-click everything you click once when it is attached to your docking station, and I would be happy to guide you to a resolution!

I'm sorry, but to get your question more exposure, I suggest posting in the trade forums, since it is a commercial product. You can do it:

  • T500 loses screen when ejected from the docking station

At my office, I use a docking station with external monitor (DVI join). If I ejected from the docking station, my laptop screen darkens. The only way I can do it works to turn it off, eject and restart. It works fine then.

I have the ATI graphics card, and I don't think that the switchable graphics works. Is it possible to use the integrated graphics card Intel when the battery power? This seems to be ideal.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

Unfortunately windows don't remember installing icons when you switch your resolution. When you change the resolution would pass and spoil your icon arrangement.

  • Tecra M11 - 17V - identify the serial port on the docking station

I have a laptop Toshiba Tecra M11 - 17V, which I often use with the docking station that accompanies it.
There is a DB9 serial port at the back of the docking station, but I don't know what COM Port.

    I use Windows 7.

In the device, COM9 Manager - COM22 are identified as Port BT (bluetooth). Com7 - COM8 are RIM Virtual Serial Port v2, COM17 is Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port and COM18 is USB-Serial CH340.

I thought that COM17 or COM18 were the most likely candidates, but have not been able to get to answer using one of them.

I connect a Psion 5 (Comms app) to him and have developed ports and the Psion 8bits, 19200 baud, no parity, 1 stop bit.

    Hello

    > There is a serial port DB9 on the back of the docking station, but I don't know what COM Port, it is

I think you have misunderstood something wrong
COM ports in Device Manager are virtual com ports
There is no link between a serial port and a virtual com port.

I have a question: what docking station you have exactly?

I had an express port replicator and this device required an additional serial port driver installation.

  • Clock freezes in the docking station

I have the docking of Milestone 2 and recently I found the clock freezes randomly while my phone is in host mode. The separator flashes but the time does not update. This affects the main clock display and the time in the notification bar.

If I lift the phone out of the docking station or press the power button two times then the time updates immediately. This problem is intermittent, sometimes the clock works normally, at other times, it will freeze. Earlier tonight for example it froze, I lifted it out successor and it froze again. I repeated the process and it works correctly (for now at least). I restarted the phone, but the issue does not appear to be linked to the availability, as I experienced it immediately after a reboot.

I have seen this issue a few times on the retail firmware, the Milestone 2 was released last year.

This question seems to have been fixed with the update, which will be published shortly in Europe.

I will announce when it is available.
