pavillion g6 laptop mouse pad

Hello

My son has had a brand new, one for Christmas and all was going well until he started today and the mouse pad is totally insensitive. Can anyone help?

@lisabling,

Try the following.

Shut down the laptop. Tap here to f8 start you toward the top access to the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode with network" and press ENTER.  Let windows fully load in this mode and see if the Touchpad works in this mode.

If this is the case, download the latest installer Synaptics driver on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp54001-54500/sp54040.exe

Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, right click on the entry "Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" and choose uninstall.

Once done, restart the computer and Windows restarts normally - check the Touchpad still works.

If this is the case, open your downloads folder, right-click on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once done, restart the laptop.

Kind regards

  • How can I activate the scroll function on my laptop mouse pad?

    Hello

My laptop mouse pad is no longer scroll in FireFox or MS Word (or any other program I've tried) since switching from Vista to Windows 7. In the Windows Help section, it suggests that there should be a tab "Scrolling" in the mouse properties window, however, when I opened the window just 4 tabs are "Buttons," "Pointers," "Pointer Options" and "hardware". How can I switch on / activate the scrolling feature?

  • laptop mouse pad changes size of the icon on the desktop?

When using my laptop mouse pad, the desktop icons is is expanded.  I want to make it even smaller, but the options of the control panel do not work to do this.  How to smaller again, and why are they larger when I touched the mouse pad?

On a desktop PC, hold down the CTRL key and turning the mouse wheel will make the icons larger or smaller. Maybe you did the cell phone equivalent to that. Maybe even a sticky control key.

  • How to disable HP laptop mouse pad in Windows 8?

Original title: Windows 8 mouse pads

Windows 8 don't let me stop the mousepad on my laptop HP G Series as done in windows 7.  It's a pain, I use an optical mouse... I keep hitting the pavement by accident.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for choosing Windows 8 and welcome to the Community Forums of Microsoft.

I see that you want to disable the mouse pad.

Let us work together to solve this problem.

We wish to inform you that Windows has never had any device which allowed to turn off the mouse pad. This feature is sometimes provided by the manufacturers of mouse pad.

Most laptops have an external switch or button, which when activated, disable the mouse pad. You can try if it works.

You can also toggle the control panel mouse pad.

Follow the steps below to do so:

    a. press the Windows key + X, and then select Control Panel.

    b. Select the mouse properties.

    c. right-click on the mouse to turn on/off pad.

The mouse pad can also be disabled via Device Manager.

    a. press the Windows key + X, and then select Device Manager.

    b. expand mice and other pointing devices.

    c. right-click and disable the Scripture that says mouse mat or even.

    HI @vivek_kallakuri ,

Thank you for your request, I will do my best to help!

I understand that your TouchPad is more you to scroll with it.  Here is a link for the use and troubleshooting of the TouchPad and ClickPad (Windows 8) that will guide you through a step to try.

Have you tried Automated fault (Windows 8) research?

Did you run the HP Support Assistantsince that happened?

If it was a recent change you might consider doing a restore to where he worked.

Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)

You can also try a Refresh Your PC to solve problems (Windows 8). This will reinstall the OS and should not affect your personal files.  I recommend doing a backup first just in case.

You can consider contacting HP support for assistance that they can connect remotely to your system to help solve the problems.

The last thing I can suggest would be to do a cover of the plant. Performing a recovery of HP (Windows 8) system

You will notice there is an option to make a backup during this process, if you don't have one I suggest you do one now.

Restore files that have been supported to the top using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8)

  • Pavilion laptop: Mouse pad problem

I want that my mouse to move while I type. Because I'm playing somegames that force me to move my mouse and using the WASD keys. How can I change?

    Hello

You can change this as follows.

Open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  In the new page layout, select the entry of Synaptics.

The hardware/software version will depend on real option that you're looking for (see the example below), but it is usually called 'check' Palm or Smart Sense'-disable this function and apply the changes.

  • My screen keeps growing when I use the laptop mouse pad and I can't seem to make it go smaller!

Sometimes that I move the cursor on the page grows and now I can't keep "full-size".

You can have zoom Web pages by accident.
Make sure that you do not press the CTRL key while scrolling a page.

Reset the zoom of page on pages that are causing problems.

    • View > Zoom > reset (Ctrl / command + 0 (zero))
  • Mouse pads no longer works on laptop

My HP laptop mouse pad stopped working while he was a little older than a year. The drivers are installed, a plug-in works mouse. My HP Tower is over 9 years & runs like a champ, but my laptop is horrible. By completely replacing the hardwear, is there anything else I can do?

Short of taking it apart and replacing your touchpad is your only choice to operate. "Mouse pads" strange that it is usually called the Touchpad of what I know.  If you tried to uninstall the driver, and then reinstall and unresponsive, it would be a sing that the Touchpad no longer works. But since we have no history of usage it could have failed the liquid is spilled on him causing his failure as well. Otherwise, you'll have to disassemble the Palm to get it on the touchpad and replace it or some requires that you replace the complete plamrest'en as part of the palmrest Touchpad.

  • I have a Dell XP laptop with mouse pad problems.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. It would be a good solution and how do I install it. I can't find anything about compatibility. No matter what I click or try, I still just have sent Windows 7 info.

    You have two separate issues.

You do not explain what are your "mouse pad problems", and because you didn't also determine which laptop Dell model you have, I can't give you specific advice.  Take a look at the following page which, although specific to the laptop computer Latitude 131 L, applies to your touchpad as well. http://www.support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/DSN/en/document?&docid=361927

If you want information specific to your laptop, go to Dell support and enter your service tag, then search for answers using the keyword "touchpad".

If your touchpad hardware is actually dead, or if you want to use a mouse instead of the touchpad, the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 is a reasonable choice.  If you just plug the transmitter into a USB port on your computer and turn on the mouse, it should work without needing to install anything (you may need to reset the transmitter and the mouse buttons to reset on each device).

If you want to "features", download the software IntelliPoint here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/DownloadResult.aspx?category=MK&type=Mouse&name=BX3-00008&os=XP_32&lang=en

  • Qosmio X 870 - mouse pad does not work properly

    Hello

My mouse pad is facing upward and I don't know why. It works when I restart the laptop, then after a few minutes, it does not at all. I checked the properties in Device Manager and it says it works properly... which is not the case. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled. He always does.

Not sure if this is related to some of my key of F does not not to my other thread - https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread...ns-not-working

A question I've had for a while (which may or may not be related) is my TOSHIBA x 64 compatible ACPI logical value and general-purpose device has a problem. On the device manager says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) ». I uninstalled and reinstalled this with driver Toshiba utility pack and it always happens with this error. I cleaned the registry several times using tuneup utilities 2013. It is probably not bound as it has been like this for a long time with no obvious side effects. But it's annoying nevertheless.

Maybe windows 10 could save the day (I'm on the 8.1). I hope. In the meantime if anyone has any suggestions I would be very happy.

Good, someone else who might find this is useful - it turns out that it was a hardware failure. My laptop hinge was loose, and therefore the case had to be replaced. He also replaced the mouse pad - now it works fine.
