Latest version of iTunes causing computer to freeze

The latest version of iTunes crashed my computer every time.  I opened iTunes and after a short moment, everything freezes, even not work Ctrl + alt + delete. I have to manually restart the computer may.  Twice I had to use a bootdisk just to bring it to the top.  I tried to remove iTunes and reinstall but it does the same thing.  If I don't run the program, my computer crashes.

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. When reinstalling right click the installer downloaded and use run as administrator.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

The more information box has direct links with the current and recent if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with third-party software.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

iOS9 on a mobile device requires iTunes 12.3 or higher, which in turn requires a computer running OSX 10.8.5 or higher.  Update of the system only checks the updates for the current version of the system you run, but that itself can be updated.  It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the system requirements. Find your computer on the web site of http://www.everymac.com model and near the bottom of the specification of the system section, he will tell what versions of the operating system, it is able to run. Where you say that you need to download the latest version of iTunes? What is a ToolTip that appears in iTunes when you connect iPhone to your computer? I need to sync my new iPad pro and because used to synchronize requires the latest update, I have my laptop but I never have syncd my ipad with this computer and if I try to backup if I agree to erase everything on my device and sync with the laptop.  Of course, I don't want to do what I want to see everything on the NEW ipad from the old version.

I went through the troubleshooting and found a solution, but when I had finished making all this trouble report said, there was a pesky itunes shortcut file on the left and I can not delete this shortcut, regardless of how many times I try.  If I can't remove it, the Installation will be terminated.  How can I delete this file?

    Hello RavynnG,

Looks like you have a problem with the installation of the latest version of iTunes on your Windows computer, the error message you describe. Is this correct?

This sometimes occurs when the Windows registry has conflicting information on software are installed. One of the users of Apple for support communities - turingtest2 - has written a useful resource for this situation, found here - troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows... | Apple Support communities

    Specifically -.

The following steps should remove the reference to a file missing .msi Windows Installer Service trying to access when installing iTunes.

    1. Press WinLogoKey + R, type Regedit in the Run dialog box and then press enter/return.
    2. Click on Edit > find, type the name of the file .msi problem, for example itunes6464.msi, change the boxes look so that only the data is checked, and then click Next. You should find it somewhere:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\ {long string of letters & numbers} \SourceList
    3. Right-click on the parent key immediate with the long string of letters & numbers that contains the list of sources with the reference to the .msi file, and then click export, save it to say the office with name iTunes.reg if the data can be restored if deleting it does not help. Now right click on the key again and select delete from the context menu. This should prevent the Windows Installer to search for the .msi file when you reinstall iTunes.

If installation will not yet pass by then double-click on the file iTunes.reg that you did to restore the data in the registry, and then use the method shown to install missing components to unpack the installer of your previous iTunes installation, then extract the .msi file, you need. Double-click this option to try to uninstall the component. There are links to recent versions of iTunes in the section of the older versions .

Once completed, you should be able to run the iTunes Installer, you can download it from this location - iTunes - download iTunes - Apple
