Latitude 7470 no sound

I just installed windows 7 on this laptop computer and all devices in Device Manager are installed and updated but I have no sound in windows. The speaker has a red X on it and says "no audio output device is installed". I downloaded and installed the realtek audio driver from the dell site and it still does not work. The sound works well outside windows and it tests ok in the diagnostic test. I reinstalled windows 7 (enterprise 64-bit) and it still does not work. I ran all the updates of windows and nothing, still no sound. Help, please!

I've updated the bios to v 1.6.3, then went the bios settings. Under System Configuration, there should be an audio section. Make sure that the audio is activated. Then start windows, once windows loads, the drivers should install on their own.

  • Latitude D830 IDT Sound issues

Okay, I give up!  Is there a solution to get the sound on my (now mandatory) D830 with an IDT High Def Audio?  Thank you if someone has an answer.

    I am running XP SP3 I think.

If you know for sure that you are running XP, the operating system doesn't have a native audio driver for audio HD (type in the D830) so you need to install the Sigmatel audio driver, but it will not be installed unless the chipset driver was installed. Then download and install these in this order, with restarts after each:

    1. Dell Notebook System Software

    2. drive chipset Mobile Intelr

    3. driver Sigmatel audio, R171789

If you still have a problem after that, run the audio Dell 32-bit diagnostic tests to verify the audio hardware failure. The tests are probably more on your hard drive, but you can run from the CD-ROM of resources provided with the computer.

I have installed renetly windows vista on several of our models D610 and even if sound from speakers works audio the headphone power is not. Anyone found a solution for this?

  • M.2 implementation and Dell 7470

M.2 appears in a series of laptops on the dell website but the information provided about its implementation: connection types, dimensions, specifications, etc., etc., is, as far as I can find, al but non-existent.

The new computer dell laptop 14 7000 (aka 7470) appears on the site of Dell UK with the following:

    3 M.2 expansion slots: 1 SSD, 1 HCA-WWAN/WLAN/BT/when locking slot and 1

It lists also it has a Solid State Drive M2 2280 SATA3

    That's all.

After spending some time trying to understand the concept of the m2 is (Wikipedia does a decent job of the it) I returned to this laptop and have no idea what exactly it provides so.  I may be completely thick do not understand that a m2 slot that is, say, WWAN/HCA (see above), then I should be able to determine what type of connector, it is, but I can't.

Also, I do not see if the SSD that comes with the laptop takes 1 3 m2 of expansion slot, which is ranked 1 SSD, or if there is actually a second (and thus empty) SSD slot I can put an additional SSD in, , and if so, what spec SSD can I buy to fit the slot.

I had a bad chap Dell sales running around to see, but after 3 days, he gave up.  I tried the cat Dell - no luck, Technical Support from Dell ("not our job mate") and even PM'ed through Dell facebook page where they tried to send me to sales.  I reminded them that I had been there already - that the response was classic business talk - "We appreciate your understanding in this matter.  Reach us if you have other concerns.

So if anyone can guide me on this I would be very grateful - I think that their sales team would be as well.  I want to add an SSD to their offer of 128 GB or 256 GB and I also want to be able to add when in the future (they advertise it in brilliant graphics but you cannot select the map in the section Customize - crazy), using their home wireless option when I spend my 2 monitors and withdrew from my e-dock.

I read through other posts on this site about m2, but none applies to implementing on the 7470.

    Thank you very much

I just bought a description of dell latitude 7470.The clearly states that he has 3 M2 pcie EXPANSION slots, which can take an SSD. I have a 512 GB M2 card to install. On the withdrawal of the back of the laptop, I find that there is only one slot pcie M2 and it is already occupied by the original installed by car. HE DIDN'T THERE WAS NO M2 EXPANSION SLOT! It is an understatement to say I'm pi * ed off with dell! Now, I have a laptop which cannot be extended beyond its tiny 128 GB original. I'll have to buy an external usb3 M2 caddy to make a diskcopy of the drive installed (with the operating system preinstalled and other software) on my 512 GB drive. I can then replace the the 128 GB drive with 512 GB drive.

  • Windows 7 and NVMe Imaging issues

    Hi all

I looked around the forums to see if anyone has come across this problem.

When I image of the K2000 on any system that has a player of NVMe (AIO 7440 Optiplex, Latitude 7470). My Imaging speed is horribly slow. I have the image via a gigabit connection and I only see speeds of 10-15MBps. I tested with older machines using the SATA interface, including those that use SSD and my speed can reach about 100-200 Mbit/s.

A number of things that I have tried-
I've recreated environments KBE repeatedly. I use WINPE 10 Driver pack.
Network administrators have verified that there is no problem of network with the K2000.
I installed Windows 7 with integrated NVME drivers and no problem.

I believe it has something to do with the boot environment not having not NVMe drivers. I found the drivers NVMe I could include in the boot environment, but I wanted to see if anyone has seen this issue.

I created a custom Windows 7 disk using the text instructions.
    support.Software.Dell.com/.../185551

    Thank you
    Roland C.

    And I thought about it...

    Download the following drivers of NVMe - 8863.Samsung + is + driver.zip
When you download the driver from WINPE 10 Pack (I'm sure you could do that with 5 of WINPE and 4 versions), unzip it and copy the NVMe drivers in the storage folder. Create the new boot environment by using the K2000 Media Manager. Once created, start K2000 and the image of the machine. You will see the difference immediately. In my case, my Imaging speed went from 10 Mbit/s about 350Mbps.

These drivers only work for Samsung NVMe readers who are being installed on all of the latest machines (AIO 7440 Optiplex, Latitude E7470, etc.), this disc is an option that is available when you customize the machine. I believe that you can still buy active SATA drives, then you won't have to worry about this problem. It may be useful

  • No sound on Dell Latitude D520

Dell Latitude D520 was in a good condition, a few weeks ago, regarding the sound and programming settings, functioned at that time here. Someone handed the laptop down to me and from that point is when I started having problems who never were a problem, all the time that I used it. The main problem is the fact that there is absolutely no sound. I took it to a sales associate at a store that does repairs on computers, who asked me to do a diagnostic check/scan, and when this was complete I discovered a problem under the sounds and Audion devices that joined the "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" does not properly, so when I went through the troubleshooting instructions , a download started, but was interrupted with a notice reading "continues the instalation of this software may impair or destabilize the functioning of your system, either immediately or in the future." Microsoft strongly reccomends that you stop the installation of this software now and contact the provider of material for software that has passed Windows Logo test. "The sales associate told me that my problem was a change in the sound for some reason or another settings. In the hope that the previous owner might be able to give me some instructions on what changes have been made so that I could directly where to go and what kind of changes, I do, I failed in my attempt to get ANY useful information like that either, because he says he brought no change, so the sound should work. Although it is most certainly not!

    Low sound volume

My speakers on my Dell Latitude D820 suddenly emit only a low sound. I adjusted all the volume controls in the menu sounds from the Control Panel, and there is no change in volume. It's real power radio on the internet and play music from a CD inserted into my machine. • Latitude E7440 - sound does not come with a helmet

    Hello world

I have a laptop Dell Latitude E7440 8.1 Windows running. I had problems with no sound coming with headphones plugged in the headphone jack (its only comes through the built-in Laptop speakers). I tried several fixes including:

-Definition of headset as default playback device (my laptop groups speakers and headphones together, is not possible to choose one over the other).

-Remove the battery, now hold the power for 30 seconds, turn it back on

    -Update Realtek Audio driver

-Uninstall the Realtek Audio driver (and deletion of files), and then restart the computer for the native audio driver is used.

I had the most success with the help of the native audio driver (after deleting and uninstalling Realtek). However, when I do this, I have from both headphones and speakers of the laptop. This will work for a day or two, then I'll start to have no sound from the headset again (despite running the native audio driver).

I don't know if it's a hardware or a software problem. I don't think it's a hardware problem, since I am able to get the headset to some working hours. Are there new ideas or advice? I'm debating getting a USB adapter for my helmet, but I don't know which would solve the problem if it's a software problem.

Thanks for the help in advance!

I'm debating getting a USB adapter for my helmet, but I don't know which would solve the problem if it's a software problem.

The usb sockets are very expensive and me would be worth the risk that it might not work. You could test the hardware failure (or repair the software if it's a software problem) by resetting the laptop back to the factory setting original, but for many people it is worth some money to try and avoid would do that.

Usually when the headphones are not detected by the driver from Realtek but are when you use the native driver, the solution is to completely remove the software Realtek, the way you did and then install an earlier version of the Realtek driver. However, it is difficult to understand the symptoms of your laptop. Normally if there is the same symptom with pilot of the provider and the native driver, which is strongly evocative of hardware failure because both pilots are not likely to have the same bug at the same time. In your case, but I wouldn't bet on it anyway.

  • Help! Latitude D830, NONE of the drivers sound card works!

I am ready to never touch a Dell again... It is the last resort. Outside driver imprecise downloads and a way to show the pilots should be together, if the forums do not solve my problem, GG Dell.

OK needed that little bit of frustration on the situation at hand.

    Laptop: Latitude D830

    OS: Windows XP Pro SP3

    Problem:? Other devices?

    Data interface

    Data interface

    Ethernet controller

    PCI device

These are the things that apparently have no drivers available for download from the dell website?   My biggest problem is solid... I'm going to assume that "PCI Device" is the sound card, but I assumed prior it was integrated as a result would not be PCI. I tried all the drivers its unique card which = Latitude D830 / 32-bit of Windows XP.  Whenever I try to install the driver, it fails and indicates that the system is wrong etc.

I changed the BIOS, etc. It is a problem very very very very very very very very very frustrating because there seems to be no one else with this problem, and if there is someone so I was not able to find a thread about it.  Please help me before go me crazy.

    knoble74
I was wondering do you know sound card drivers who recognize the sound card for the d830 with win 7

The D830 has Sigmatel audio hardware. The company went bankrupt before Win 7 but you can install the Sigmatel Vista version R171788 in compatibility mode.

Download the driver package and extract the files (unzip or decompress and take note of the name of the folder created) but cancel the installation process. Go to the folder on the hard disk to which you have unpacked the driver files
    c:\Dell\Drivers\Rxxxxxx

Find the setup.exe file and right-click on it. Select Properties. Find the Compatibility tab and select Vista.

  • Latitude E6420 Sound going headphones instead of speakers

I'm on a Dell Latitude E6420, and I'm having a problem with my speakers.

What I have found is that by default, the computer sends sound for headphones, regardless of whether or not they are connected. There are two audio devices in the control panel > Sound, one called speakers/headphones and the other called Communications helmet.
According to me, that both failed to the headphone, because when you play the normal sounds, they come through the headphones, and when you run the function 'Test' for the Communications headset, that comes through the headset as well. However, when you use the Test a helmet of communication and when you fill out a change in the volume of Communications helmet, the normal sounds (those who play with speakers/headphones) out through the speakers.

Dell has replaced both the motherboard and the speakers, and after that which did not help, they said I have to just wait for a new version of the driver.

  • No sound on latitude d520 with Sigmatel after format!

I use a latitude d520 on XP SP3. I did a format of hard drive and got the required drivers from the dell website. When installing the audio driver R122161, he encounters an error (error code 40) then it will end the installation and ask a reboot. Immediately after that restart the audio driver installation screen automatically appears, the status bar goes to 40% and an error message saying "system does not supportvthe driver you are trying to install" appears. I tried to reinstall but the same result. On "Device Manager", everything seems very well under "sound, video and game controllers". The things listed there are the Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, control devices, video Codecs. If I right click on any of the audio thingys in the "Uninstall" option Device Manager does not display but the 'Update Driver' is available. In Control Panel > sounds and Audio devices, it says "No. Audio Device. I also tried to install the driver R116860. The result is the same, but in this case the initial error (error code 40) does not occur.

Before formatting the drive hard everything worked perfectly. To make matters worse I don't have the resource CD or a bootable partition. Help, please!

  • (MP3 sound) to jump on the Latitude d520

    Hello

I searched the forum for a solution to my problem, but had no luck.

I have a new Latitude D520 and all jump sounds (tested with .mp3 and .wav files). The problem occurs on all players (tested with Windows media player and Winamp).

This laptop is equipped with a card its sigmatel. Details of the pilot are:

    Supplier: SigmaTel

    Date: 24/03/2006

    Versioin: 5.10.0.4995

    What could be the problem?

  • The sound on my Dell Latitude D505 with Windows XP has stopped. Control center of its Greyed out. Any ideas?

The sound has of worked, then suddenly dropped after I had scanned with Spybot. When I go to the control center audio boxes are 'Grisées Out' has got his back with system restore plays a video clip, then there once again. No SIMPLE solution? Thank you.

I recommend reinstalling the drivers for your smart sound (or, better,.), installation of the drivers available later on the chip

Go to the top Dell support site (enter your Dell service tag number, to get the drivers for your machine) and download & run the installer for your audio device.

Or, open the Device Manager and find your sound device (it will be listed under sound, video and game controllers.)  Hit to the top of the site of the manufacturer for their latest driver Installer.  If you need help with this, thanks for posting that Device Manager indicates the sound card/chip is, we can help you find the drivers.

    HTH,
    Chris
