Latitude C640 IDE connector

Hi, I am trying to get a job C640 and at startup I get no disc HARD this error code 1000-0141.

searched the forum and I've seen references to an IDE connector.

My HARD drive has just the standard pins that seem not aline with internal connector.

Do I have reason to assume that this connector is missing, if so where can I get one in the United Kingdom.

Any help would be wonderful

I think that this Assembly to support Toshiba HDD (hard drive) (number P000370340) must be compatible for the HARD drive.

  • IDE connectors on the motherboard, can they be used?

Hi new to the forum. I have an a1747c and my DVD/RW quit player. I'm sure I have fried it backup my files, in any case I was looking at the connectors on the motherboard and saw the unused ide connectors. None of the drives are IDE, but you can use the ide connectors at the same time with the hard drive and dvd ide not? hope my question of sense, thxs advance, Terry

It does not matter what IDE channel you use.  Things to check are: 1) make sure that the correct end of the ground is connected to the motherboard - usually the blue end. ((2) check jumper on IDE device - if the device is the only device on the cable layer, to 'Master' 3) check in the BIOS if the device is recognized 4) if 'yes' to 3) then check in "Device Manager" to see if recognized if 'no' to 3) or 4) check connections for cable connection and the power of Ribbon.  (5) does DVD flicker at startup power light?

  • Hard drive installation of the HP Pavilion ZT1155 via 2.5 "to 3.5" IDE connector

    Hello

I was invited to focus on the recovery of data from a laptop HP Pavilion ZT1155 dead. The system has been errors during Windows XP startup - chkdsk complained of bad sectors. The machine now starts at all. While the BISO reports the HD as a present, try to boot from it translates a message "a disk read error has occurred. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart. »

The user wants to retrieve the data of the machine if possible. Needless to say that nothing has been saved.

I removed the hard drive and tried to connect it to a Converter 2.5 "to 3.5" IDE. But it does not.

The hard drive is a Toshiba MK4026GAX, capacity 40GB 2.5 ". But HP seems to have added only a different style instead of the 44 normal IDE connector male pin connector key. One that's here now is marked 'SUYIN 22146' and is a long, rectangular slot with connectors inside edge. The manual for training on the Toshiba site made no reference to this.

I unscrewed the top Board circuit and this connector seems to be integrated in the device. It is not only the standard IDE connector plugging, but rather replaced it altogether.

Anyone has experience with this type of hard drive, or advice on how I could connect it to a regular system of 3.5 "IDE?

    Thanks in advance,

    Paul.

The connector you see is covering the standard brass pins but fits down tight, it looks like a solid plastic cover. Simply pull on the part of the connector until you get a separation of the body of the car and then carefully 'walk' it off the pins.

I just installed 1470 broadcom mini pci card with the 4.10.40.0 (from decompression R115321.exe) on a Dell Latitude C640 driver version.

The card sees the network and connects, but I must be withinn 5 feet from the router, and even in this case the signal is 'Very low' (an or maybe 2 bars). I can communicate with various other wireless cards on other laptops with the full signal strength during the major part of the House.

Why the intensity of the signal would be so bad?

Is the 1470 is not very sensitive? the driver is bad for my setup? is there an INCOMPATIBILITY between the 1470 and the DLink DI-524 router? Is this an indication that the antenna on my wifi card is damaged? (I got it on ebay)

  • Question for Dell Dimension 3000 IDE connector

    Hello

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but please be patient with me. I have a loyal Dell Dimension 3000, 2 GB RAM, P4 processor, 1x250GB HDD burners 2xDVD-R, 1x3.5in floppy drive hard.

My Question is how to be able to add a second HDD. I have no way to connect to one. The cable I have all what it connects to the current. There is no way with my current cable to connect a second HDD. I don't know what type of connector IDE cable I need or where to buy it, or if there is even an option to one.

I have the tray and extra HDD ready and waiting but no way to connect. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    John Briggs

The dimension 3000 will support two hard drives, but you will need support for additional hard drive and one connector three IDE 18 "L, 80-wire cable in water data, which is connected to the primary IDE hard drive and motherboard J6J2 PRI IDE connector, see page 38

Dimension 3000 second hard drive installation.

There are no instructions for the installation of a second IDE/EIDE hard drive in dimension 3000, but as the Dimension 4600 has the same case and chassis, you can use the 4600 instructions for the physical installation, see page 18:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-4600_service%20manual_en-us.PDF

Set the jumpers the second hard drive for "Cable Select" and connect it to the middle connector of the IDE data cable, which is attached to the main hard drive.

After you have installed the reader, enter the setup and make sure the hard drive is set to Auto [on].

To access the configuration, press the F2 key after a restart of the computer.

For the details of the system configuration, go to page 34, here:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-3000_service%20manual_en-us.PDF

Use disk management to partition, format, and assign a drive letter on additional hard drive after installation for Windows to recognize the hard drive.

  • Sat Pro A10: 'IDE #0 Error' on two laptops

    Hello

Appreciate any input from anyone in case I did something really stupid or am incredibly unlucky.

A Pro A10 Sat (out of warranty) looked like an imminent drive failure, then I cloned the drive and tried to share more, but got the error IDE #0 at startup. As I have two of these laptops, I traded in my second computer laptop to see if it was a disk error, but got the same error on the first laptop.

On return the drive to the second laptop. She now also fails with the same error! The two laptops are no disk in the BIOS and nothing spinning upwards at the start. However, both connect to desktop fine, if the drives are OK.

I don't see anyway to change the CMOS settings in case that's the problem with the new player or have I managed to damage the two IDE connectors in 5 minutes.

    Ideas or widely accepted views!

    Thank you.

    Hello

Have you tried putting the Hd drive in BIOS?
If BIOS don't recognize try it HDD to manually set and save the settings in the BIOS
If it is not possible, so I guess that it s something wrong with connectors or the HARD drive is not well positioned in the Bay.
But it is also possible that the two HARD drive have a malfunction.

  • Satellite Pro 4290: How to solve the problem of error IDE #1

I recently purchased a DVD - ROM drive to put my optical drive Sat Pro 4290 a CD in DVD - ROM. As suspects, I am the problem if the drive is not recognized and get error IDE #1.

I can get windows XP to recognize the disk by deleting the secondary IDE channel in the material and then look up the new material again. Then installs the IDE channel and then detects and installs the DVD-ROM and works very well. I restart the computer laptop and back to square one!

I understand that it is something to do with the settings of the motherboard and someone has solved this welding pins in different locations on the IDE connectors.

I don't want to risk it and I was wondering if anyone finds an easier way to do it?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    > I understand it's something to do with the settings of the motherboard and someone has solved this welding pins in different locations on the IDE connectors.

Set to true if not 100%. This isn't a matter of adjustment on the motherboard, but the setting of the CD/DVD drive.
The Player supports different master\slave\c-salt settings and if they are not compatible BIOS does not correctly recognize drive.

On external hard drives (for desktop) it s possible to change these settings by changing the jumper, but it is not possible for readers portable slim.
Portable settings are stored in the firmware!

I found various non-legal tools that can change the master/slave/c-salt settings but I wouldn't recommend using it.
The risks are too high so that the reader will have some damage.

So, try to replace the drive with a compatible

  • ERROR IDE resolved #1

    Hello!

Any person having the error IDE #1 is bios associated readers. Toshiba towers use high say Cable Select instead of low, as it is in the standard IDE/ATAPI, to detect the CD-ROM drive at startup. If you change the drive that is not an original Toshiba bios but there bios from another producer or whatever it is set for the weak signal of CSL. What you have to do?

Download orginal bios Toshiba for your net support player or toshiba. 1 x 20-resembles the BIOS of Toshiba version number, account number, no letter in which x is the most high most recent bios, but I'm not sure about that. Create a disk with program flash (maybe v156teg) and bios in file hex takes place.

Now you need to pull your drive of the laptop (don't ask me how do), unscrew the top cover (lost guaranteed ups) and connect the PIN JAE IDE connector on the earth pin 45 47 or 43.I used a sheet of money of chewing gum. You should pack a little to make a square 1 to 2 mm. Press down against some SMD resistance or capacitor (but make sure that there is no connection between the pins and SMD component). Check if there is a link between pin 47 and 45 with ohmometer. Put the reader inside your laptop. It starts from disk done ealier.

If you did everything what correcly your PC bios Toshiba laptop does not display the IDE error #1 and the v156teg detects the drive and flash it with the new bios. Once the flash is made to take the piece of aluminum foil. Screw the disc and put your back toghether from the laptop. There, you have no IDE ERROR #1. You do so at your own risk.

I take no responsibility for damage that is done to your laptop or drive.
Temporary to solve this problem is to put the laptop to sleep and then wake him up to the top and now the disc is in the system.

    Hello

Thanks for your extended help, your description was very helpful, but in my opinion, it is not recommended to do this kind of thing on your own with no technical training and expertise.

Doing stuff like this on your own is risky and you can damage other hardware components.

In such a case, the best thing to do is to contact authorized Service partner.

    Hello

May I ask what did you expect?

Tecra M2 seems to support the enhanced IDE interface and in my opinion, this is an IDE connector.
Different notebooks support different interfaces of HDD; IDE or SATA.

Turn, it's the same exact drive. It is so no worries. The player with the big white connector consists of a disc with a connector standard ide slim and an adapter to PCB converting the standard ide slim for some big white connector connector.

I removed the 4 screws down the black case. It revealed nothing surprising, always the same fat white connector I didn't. But the circuit board making the white connector, 2 screws holding in. I removed the 2 screws and the PCB could then be removed, it was glued on with weak glue. Once that the PCB has been deleted, the slim IDE connector were revealed.

  • Equip the dual core SATA IDE burner?

I just bought a Compaq SR5505F, AMD Athlon X 2 4200 2.2 GHz, with 3 GB of ram (he loves). the computer that I used before it's a Pentium 4 that I had just put an IDE Sony DVD burner in about 6 weeks. I don't know much about the 'innards' of a computer, the burner was easy, just replaced the old burner harness new same place. I was wondering if I can put the IDE drive in my Compaq, and is there any advantage to him if I can? Thanks for any info.

Do you see a large blue connector to the left of your motherboard (compared to the module on the right side slots) and in below a black and a white SATA connector? This is an IDE connector. Hereis a photograph and diagram of specifications for your model PC say is your motherboard. The photo and drawing are below specifications.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. I hope this helps.
