launchd devours % CPU

Hello

I think it started today when I upgraded to OSX to 10.11.4

On macbook pro 13 "mid 2012

Here's what the console displays:

29/03/16 15:27:56, com.apple.xpc.launchd [1 833]: (com.onlineapplicationnotice.AppNotice [99612]) event Service to manage the installation failure and will not launch until it fires.

Any ideas?

You may have installed ad-injecting malicious software ("adware").

Do not use any type of product, "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" on a Mac. It is never necessary for her, and relying on it for protection makes you more vulnerable to attacks, not less.

Save all data first.

Some of the most common types of adware can be removed by following the instructions from Apple. But before you follow these instructions, you can try an automatic removal.

If you are not already running the latest version of Mac OS X ("El Capitan"), update or upgrade in the App Store you could adware to automatically remove. If you are already using the latest version of El Capitan, you can still download the current update of the Apple Support downloads page and run it. Still, some types of malware will be deleted, not all. There is no such thing as the automatic removal of all possible malware, either by OS X third party software. That's why you can't rely on software to protect you.

If the malware is deleted in your case, you will still need to make changes to the way you use your computer to protect you from new attacks. Ask if you need advice.

If the malware is not automatically deleted, and you cannot remove yourself by following the instructions from Apple, see below.

This simple procedure to detect any type of adware that I know. Disabling is a procedure distinct and better still.

Some legitimate software is funded by advertising and may display advertisements in its own windows or in a web browser while it is running. It's not malware and it may not appear. In addition, some Web sites display advertising intrusive popup that can be confused with adware.

If none of your web browsers work well enough to carry out these instructions, restart the computer in safe mode. Allows to temporarily disable the malware.

Step 1

Please triple - click on the line below on this page to select it, and then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

~/Library/LaunchAgents

In the Finder, select

Go ▹ go to the folder...

from the menu bar and paste it into the box that opens by pressing command + v press return. Open a folder named "LaunchAgents", or you will get a notice stating that the file cannot be found. If the file is not found, proceed to the next step.

If the folder opens, press the combination of keys command-2 to select the display of the list, if it is not already selected. Please don't skip this step.

There should be a column in the update Finder window. Click this title two times to sort the content by date with the most recent at the top. If necessary, enlarge the window so that all the content show.

Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "take a screenshot of a window." An image file with a name starting in 'Screenshot' should be saved to the desktop. Open the capture screen and make sure it is readable. If this isn't the case, capture a small part of the screen indicating that what needs to be shown.

Start a reply to this message. Drag the image file in the editing window downloading. Alternatively, you can include text in the response.

Leave the case open for now.

Step 2

Do as in step 1 with this line:

/Library/LaunchAgents

The record which can open up will have the same name but is not the same as in step 1. In this step, the folder does not exist.

Step 3

Repeat with this line:

/Library/LaunchDaemons

This time the file will be called "LaunchDaemons."

Step 4

Open Safari preferences window and select the tab 'Extensions'. If the extensions are listed, post a screenshot. If there are no extensions, or if you cannot launch Safari, skip this step.

Step 5

If you use Firefox or Chrome browser, open the list of extensions and do as in step 4.

Me again... I found another post where someone has offered the following troubleshooting suggestions:

    1. open the activity monitor by typing "activity monitor" in the spotlight search. This confirms launchd is the memory of pigs

    2. open a Finder window and type select menu: go > go to folder (or at the same time press the keys CMD + SHIFT + G)

    3. at the prompt, type "/ var/log" access to the folder of the machine that contains the log files

    4. set the 'Change' case and look for the latter file called "system.log".

    5. double-click on the file to open it in the Console application

    6. scroll down and see if all the lines contain 'mistake' that back as far as when you have noticed that the machine was hot especially repeated lines.

I did the above and got a system.log 160 pages covering about 12 hours. Search found Spotlight 'messages' error on the 93 of 160 pages, but I do not see the lines that are repeated constantly along the. Here are some screenshots of the system.log. They leave something I don't see?

  • 'Launchd' Mac + WebTools in console CPU spikes

Okay, so I'm on a macbook of 2014 pro environment. I have never had problems with it since I got it. But, I noticed that lately her fans did turn full throttle while it is inactive. Out of curiosity, I checked the console and the activity monitor to see if something weird was going on. And of course, I "launchd" in the activity monitor from 50% to 90% of cpu usage cpu. In addition to this, a process called "WebTools" (it looks like malware) continues to try to run, spamming the console with this:

Someone help me please to get rid of this. Thank you.

Well, it's resolved. I tracked the WebTools file, and that seemed to work.

  • Since the upgrade, 20 of Firefox and Adobe flash player 11 devour all my CPU during video streaming playback

    Win7 64 bit

    Adobe Flash Player 11 plugin

When streaming, information on the Task Manager:

    Flashplayerplugin__11__7__700__169.exe * 32 - use 50% CPU or more

    plugin - container.exe * 32 - consumes 40% of CPU or more

Using 100% CPU translates the choppy video. I don't think that this heavy use of the CPU was not the case until I upgraded from Firefox13 and Adobe Flash Player 11. I tried without decommissioning, but this does not seem to make a difference.

    Thanks for any help.

  • McAfee, devour my CPU all on Windows 8

    I am extremely frustrated.

I recently bought an HP computer brand new with Windows 8.

Last week, I really enjoyed Windows 8 and were impressed.

I live in a remote location in the mountains where I use my Skype service as a phone 'at home' service

because I don't get mobile phone reception where I am. Today, a week on the use of this NEW computer, McAffee

started using 100% of my CPU, as permanently. Even when I tried to 'pause' analyses, he has exhausted 75% ++.

For this reason, I can't use my phone, period. It disrupts my ability to use a phone. Frustration, I uninstalled this shit.

Restarted my computer and the CPU SUCK AGAIN. Windows 7 never use again, take this seriously.

What the hell is trolling my BRAND NEW computer? How can I get this adjusted so that I can use my phone

and what anti-virus software do I use so that he does not eat my whole CPU?

    Help, please!

    Contac McAfee support.

  • Demon NTP using a lot of cycles CPU

My MacBook Pro (early 2011) running OS 10.11.4 fonctionnee hot and slow recently. I turned on Activity Monitor and ntpd (the demon of time network) is constantly to consume 12 to 15% of cycles CPU. I found an article on the stack Exchange, who said that if you see activity like this on your NTP daemon, it could be a sign that someone used a DRDoS attack. They suggested defining the demon NTP to refuse incoming network connections - which I do not know how to do. (I'm on Mac OS firewall).

I took a sample of activities ntpd. It's a little hyperactive beast. The ratio is about 2 ½ pages long during only a short excerpt. I can paste the report into this thread if it helps.

But my real question is: is it normal that ntpd to be so active? If this sounds abnormal, how can I get the little beast under control?

In case it will help, here is the report of the sample of activity that the activity monitor took of ntpd. Of course, it seems that he is busy, if all this has to do is sync with a network time service.

  • Runaway process burning CPU & disk hammering

I filed a report of official bug with Apple in mid and they asked a sysdiagnose dump, but since then I have not heard a peep from their share and this problem is persistent and very annoying, so I turn to the community for help.

These four processes have been driving me crazy for a few months, UserEventAgent, launchd, cfprefsd, mds_stores, all running under the root. In this combined order, they use more than 230% CPU on my quad-core i7 Mac mini. They always appear together.

Worse yet, cfprefsd is hammering my drive of hundreds of times, a second creating a temporary file and then rename it to private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.xpc.activity2.plist. I talk a lot GB an hour of writing. The file always contains the same content. Needless to say that the fan runs at full speed and the whole system slows down. This occurs within minutes of the restart and sometimes clears alone after only a few hours and sometimes I just have to restart. Then it will go away a day or two before raising its ugly head again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

None of the Voodoo has suggested that I saw in my research like turn off Bluetooth, disable extensions Safari, reboot into recovery and reset ACL, mode helped. This includes advice here: Re: cfprefsd with > 90% CPU.

I even tried to disable /System/Library/UserEventPlugins/com.apple.cts.plugin that someone suggested. It seemed to work but it disables the Time Machine so that the 'solution' is unacceptable.

Newspapers at the time, the event began, it seemed related to the Messages app.

Compensation on the ~/Library/Messages folder and restart seem to help, but it is temporary at best because, even without the soft running Messages, incoming messages always re-create the database here. I am running without Messages launch and yet I am in the middle of an event as I write this. Is associated it with? Who knows? Even if I could completely disable Messages, I don't want to.

Today, nothing I try seems to help. There you have it gurus. What can I try now?

Update: I forgot to mention that I tried to disable Spotlight for the startup disk by adding to the list of privacy and restart, but another event began immediately.

  • High CPU after 10.11.3 at 10.11.4 upgrade

Use El Capitan successfully for several months, 10.11.1 to 10.11.3 migration. However, the upgrade to 10.11.4 led to relatively stable high CPU.

In particular, I see process launchd (about 75%), UserEventAgent (70%) and mds_stores (30%) CPU consumption at that rate there essentially all the time, the % overall slowed down when do nothig is about 45% - therefore on an end of 2014 retina iMac 27 inches with Fusion drive. Despite this, everything works still with reasonable performance, probably because there is still spare CPU capacity.

Looking at the Console log, I see a lot of

It's be connected at intervals of a minute or so, although I don't see any referenced messages.

Removed some of the programs began and eliminated some of the agents launched (I think) and also re-installed from the recovery partition, but the problem is still there.

Someone at - it watched questions along these lines?

    Would appreciate any suggestions.

Try each of them in order. A test to see if the computer works properly:

    1. Reset the PRAM
    2. Reset the controller (SMC) system management
    3. Start the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart normally. It's slower than a standard home.
    4. Repair the disk by booting to the recovery HD immediately after the chime press keys control and R that the Utility Menu appears. Choose disk utility and click on the button continue. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) volume entry of the list to one side. Click first aid button in the toolbar. Hold the button brings up. Disk utility and return in the Utility Menu. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
    5. Reinstall OS X by booting from the Recovery HD using the command and R keys. When the Utility Menu appears, select reinstall OS X and then click continue.
    6. Download and install updated Combo OS X El Capitan 10.11.4.
  • Panic CPU calling 1

    Hello guys,.

I am a new owner of a medio 2009 macbook air. I got this this macbook to a friend to see if OSX is something for me. the macbook works fine, but when I press CMD + R to do a fresh install of Mac OS x, I get to almost 75%, an error of debugging called PANIC. The hard drive in this machine is not the original one and I go outside for one SSD swap soon. But first I want to tok know if it's a problem HARD drive or something else. Because I don't want to become a sad for a machine that does not work. So if anyone can help with this problem em I'd be happy. This is the report I get after the reboot. Any help and advice I can get would be useful.

In recovery you just tried to reinstall El Capitan? Or erase and install? If in recovery, you use disk utility to erase. Did you erase you the full disc or serrated disc. ? Everything back into the disk recovery utilities. You should all by clicking on the main drive, see down inside GUID. on the drive back, it would be mac os extended journaled. Also after the clear operation, you must run first aid to check/Repair the drive. If you wipe the entire drive then you will need to go to the partitions in disk utilities and set it as a partition in the partition table. Select options as GIUD the click Enter. Close, then go to reinstall. It is better to use ethernet as it is more stable.

Once again, thank you for any help.

  • High CPU usage

I have a temperature application on my computer on notify me if the temperature of the CPU exceeds of 66º C. It lasts 38 ºC to 47º C. It seems that the warning lights up all the days. When I look at the two process Activity Monitor use approximately 78% CPU each. They are

    launchd

    UserEventAgent

To prevent this, I have to stop launchd causing a reboot.

    Does anyone have an idea?

I use 10.11.3 and I have a MAC PRO 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xe in 2009. I remember that before 10.11, but I'm not sure.

Same problem here. It's been a while that I see this behavior. It's my Macbook Pro 2011 burn. I'm on 10.11.2. I try to manually force UserEventAgent abandonment and sometimes it works, but not always. But absolutely that process because it is done once the CPU and fans to return to a normal state.

I read somewhere that perhaps was caused by some hardware drivers, but is a macbook and I plugged anything when it happens.

  • Kernel_task help considerably CPU and RAM

    Good night everyone.

First I want to say thank you to you all for reading my problem and try to help.

Recently, I notice in the activity monitor, that the call of "kernel_task" process takes almost 1 GB of RAM, and in the processor, the use of this process is bouncing between 5% and 10% only to the idle. I don't remember seen this process behave this way, that's right where I did some research and I found something on 'extension of the core' but I really didn't now lots adjoin it. I write a diagnosis of 'EtreCheck' to see if you can help out me.

    Hello macatg12,

Your core task seems normal. Is there a specific problem you are experiencing?

I am a little concerned about the missing information under "disk information. You also have some adware installed and a 'clean up' program is installed. I suggest you download and run MalwareBytes for Mac (https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/mac/). Then run EtreCheck and see if you get the right under «Disc information» information

The list file you most often is a process associated with Norton 360. However, malware is sometimes assumed the names of the legitimate files in order to deceive the end user. Norton is a Devourer of known system and as a result, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he is a legitimate file in your case. However, I recommend you download, to update and scan with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, just to be sure. If the scans do not detect the file and the problem persists I would contact Norton or remove Norton making sure to use the tool to uninstall do.

  • How high does the CPU for my system idle process?

So far, my SIP is dragged through the years ninety superior. My CPU usage is very low, but the process window lists the CPU SIP between 93 and 99, and it is causing my PC just trolling. I know that the SIP is necessary for my system, but I don't know if there is something wrong or if it's just the time to invest in more RAM (I currently have 512MB). I am running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3.

I also have a cooling fan which is the power of attraction of a USB connection. Not sure if this has something to do with it.

the high SIP is NOT causing the lag. SIP in 90 s is normal. Upper SIP simply indicates that your CPU is idle. Its not to consume all the resources also made her by saying that it is a little too lazy, to do something :)

The offset of the PC can be attributed to the lack of RAM or another software that is at the origin of the problem. I suggest you look at the column 'Memory' to see what process/app is devours RAM. To let us know. :)
