  You don't know if it I'm missing something simple or not, but I wonder if interactive elements (specifically buttons) should be carried forward by replacing page layouts. CS6 using, I currently have 2 numbers.

  1. when I create an alternative pattern that has buttons to specific pages within the same article, the alternative layout maintains the link to the specific page in the original layout - it does not assume that I wish the keys in the alternative available to nav to the corresponding page on the alternative plan.

  2. I am currently building a few buttons on a separate 'interactive' layer that sits above the layer of 'content '. If I create a different layout, the Info button is in front of the original provision, but if I change the nav to info in the original layout, this transfers to the alternative layout (already created). Is there a way to link the buttons in different layouts, as you can do it now with the text boxes (and images, of course)?

  This issue should get posted in the InDesign forum. While you guys use these features to generate the content of the DPS, the main features (other layouts and buttons) are part of the InDesign product and their experts are the best to ask questions on this issue.

  Hello world. I work for a printing company large format. I'm running the questions during the execution of a file through our preflight software that was exported in InDesign as an interactive PDF.

  I don't have access to the native InDesign file, otherwise I would just re-export in PDF to print. My question is: is it possible to omit the interactive content of a PDF in order to get in my preflight software?

  I've seen suggestions of flattening of the file to omit it. Unfortunately, I need to keep the fine of corresponding color intact vector elements. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or need any other information about the present.

  You should probably use the preflight Panel in the pane of Print Production and run a correction to remove interactive elements (but because I don't do it, I can not tell you what (s) to run.

  Sortof. You can use the data merge feature in InDesign to build a set of images and XML content-based pages. Which makes it easy to automate the creation of a whole bunch of pages with a picture on it. You cannot, however, he use to automate that subject of multi-state slideshows.

  1. open the layers panel (window > layers)

  2. in the control panel menu, choose new layer. In the dialog box, you can name the layer if you like Page numbers.

  3. on your main page, select the text block with the selection tool (black arrow tool) page numbers.

  4. If you now look at the layers panel, you will see a small square right of one of your layers (or 1 layer if you have not created any new layers). Drag instead of the layer of Page numbers. [Explanation: the square is a "proxy" for the selected objects.] [Drag to the other layer moves the objects on this layer.]

• Is there a way to rename the "object/text box" in the layer in the Panel?

  I have a provision that has several near areas of text twice in the workflow in a layer, each of them with a minor copy change. What shows in the list of "items" in the layer is the first line of each (default) text box and it happens that they all start with the same text in each. Therefore, in the Panel, I have a list of several items that all look the same and I cannot differentiate between them when I click on an individual that I have them turn on and off.

  I am aware that I can rename the name of the layer itself, but is it possible to rename items in the inside Panel of the layer? I'd love to rename some of them.

  If this isn't the case, I guess I would have to duplicate the entire layer several times, rename the layer itself, each of them almost identical except for editing text in small characters each. Looks like it would be a lot of waste of resources and space in the file.

  You should be able to re - appoint any object similarly - click to highlight the name.

• Application layer to the States of the objects?

  I created an object of luster with 2 layer States, and outside. When the light is on it highlights the texture of the wallpaper behind it by applying a layer effect of superposition of a yellow circle (grouped with a brighter image of the chandelier).

  That looks good on screen in InDesign, but when I go to test and view on an iPad, the effect is lost and instead of working the overlay, I get a yellow solid circle without any transparency.

  Is it possible for the layer effects be effective in the final version? I could put up as layers in Photoshop, but this is complicated when I want multiple lights on the page.

  Well - I thought about it. The problem is a problem only when you have several lights on the page, otherwise it is pretty easy to put up a couple of layers in photoshop and swith between the 2 States.

  To fix, I created the document with all 5 chandeliers on 3 separate layers. There is an on/off status for 5 sections of wallpaper on the back layer. An on/off status for each chandelier on the middle layer and a top layer that darkens the type (when the light is extinguished in 20% 5 times).

  I then placed a button that performs all 3 power States for each chandelier. Either by clicking on the button turns on the light, clear the wallpaper and illuminates the text. clicking twice darkens. And any combination of switch on/off the lights works seamlessly.

  The problem I was experiencing above was due to the fact that the software converts the flat images of transparent images in PNG and JPEG formats, so to lose all the data layer on the effects. This was the only work-around, I could think of to solve the problem, but if someone can suggest a less complicated approach, it would be good to know.
