• GLITCH INDESIGN: Create an XML of the Indesign layout file - issue 'to help more of a line GREP' & "Match Styles to tags"

  I currently create XML to InDesign CC by Map Style to tags.

  -Paragraph Styles are manually apply to the text. These styles include several lines of GREP to automatically apply character styles.

  -J' have some paragraph styles and character correspond to predefined tags that have the same name "match the Styles to tags.

  I found through troubleshooting only InDesign is incapable of "match Styles to tags" for more than one line of GREP. So I chose what GREP to automatically tag line and lines to manually tag.

  Please can someone help, I need maps automatically tags at least two styles of character in a paragraph through GREP.

  Ok. Best I can suggest running a search/replace like this:

  

  Which will apply in fact the character style to italic (and I'd do the "BOLD" as well just to make sure). Then run the map Styles to tags, using the application by name. Who will score the italics.

  

  I don't know why ID can map to the "BOLD" and not the style of italic character. It should make them both (in this case) or none at all as character styles are not actually applied by the grep, just the design of character styles.

• Difficulties to use the swf file that is hard-coded to display flv files

  I created a swf player using the flvplayback component to display flv files. The document in flash is 275 pixels wide by pixels long 130px. I also have my video component (flyPlayBack) set to 275px by 100px to display the playback controls. My flash code this is my simple as follows:

  Just like above works fine. But I tried to play 2 different videos, the first video image is less than

  I noticed the video formats are different, but not the size of the video player, is - do a thing called elongation? Is it possible to change this by using my simple actionscript code above?

  (2) I also tried the button full screen, but the video takes a part of the screen, as shown below. Sorry for the size of the image.

  

  It is a common occurrence, is it possible to access the buttons of the flyplayback instance using actionscript and overridding the behavior? Any advice on my situation would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

  For me the first two screen captures look like you set bad size l / h/screen. I don't see any scaling of the player at all... only the black bars on the sides because the video did not fill the video player display together.

  And Yes, there are way to display Flash video NetStream, much more powerful and versatile called. You can design your own player and better control the display. I always use NetStream rather than the FLVPlayback instance.

  But if you're having sizing issues presented during the creation of the video... then the drive itself will not necessarily fix it. You need to know the correct display size and the report l / h for each video that you want to display.

  However, you can adjust slightly the size of the screen for each video using some actionscript... as you see here:

• I do a layout of paper every two weeks; This time, when I opened my model, set up for the next issue when I typed 'W' to display the grid I have something totally different than previously, a background grid which is more annoying.  Why in the world

  new to InDesign 6 months I do a newspaper page layout every two weeks.  This time, when I opened my model, set up for the next issue, when I typed "W" to display the grid, I have something I never saw elsewhere. ".  The background was filled with a new grid of tiles rather than the void behind the newspaper that I'm used to seeing.  I don't know what happened, but it seems that Adobe has tinkered once more with the program.  The last time this happened, I lost the icon "cover the columns" at the top; now, it's a case of two steps to put the head-lines across more than one column.  NOT useful.

  There is probably a command or a term, I don't know that this right but my main question is why, when I did this dozens of times before, doing something different will come this time.  (I know, without replica.)

  I'd also appreciate comments that someone out there could offer re why now when I tap on InDesign, is there a slight pause before that something happens to the screen.  What is my new Mac, or something to do with the program that I can fix it?

  It looks like the grid of the document, which can be disabled in the view menu.

  I am having some problems with the page layout to our family history Web site. I use page 1004 px width.

  The questions are:

  1. title & banner image are not centered on the page, for example do not display in line with body of page

  2 page cemetery - images are not staying in place with text flowing around them

  3 page newsletter - image not stay centered

  4. contact page - does not display with the level of text with image

  There are too many questions, so I will fight against the cemetery page.

  1. Add units for line 13 of kfhg.css as in 984px

  2 remove the id for the images, i.e. #plaque and #mem - gates

  3. change the style for img #right - column to read rules. If you are redoning the original style rules (i.e., not to substitute the original) then you can omit the first three rules so that you end up with display and margin.

  Do a Select all on your pages (most likely a master page is it effects all pages) and you'll probably find an empty element or element that goes beyond the edges of the design to the design of your office.

• SIZING QUESTION in FLUID PAGE layout GRID (READING AND I'll EXPLAIN) Please help

  I have 2 asides placed side by side each width of 50% for the layout of the content. The width works very well stay in proportion, but the height is not stay the same proportion when the size of the screen changes.   Type in capital LETTERS, it's the same as shouting in the web forums.  Please do not shout out your answers.

  You have 2 choices.  Either build your site with FGLayouts and do not worry about the columns the same height.   Or re - build with a layout of fixed width in pixels.   Whatever approach you use, height is always determined by the content.  Then accept this fact and sleep well at night.

• Can not understand this issue with the layout - please help

  I have a problem with the page layout in the header of my site portion.  I would like the Facebook icon, the text "Write us", "Reservations welcome!" text and phone number all rinse just like on the picture below.

  

  No matter what I do the text "Write to us" is not the right move.

  Instead of floating the previous buttons and following, do the main-content class relatively placed.

  Then make the class of fadehover positioned in absolute terms.

• Issue import layout with Folio Builder Alternative

  Test of the Alternative layout works in InDesign CS6 right now and I created 4 Alternative Layouts (is this layout 1 and 3 Alternative Layouts?). The Alternative layouts, I created are:

  iPad 3 (2048 x 1536)

  iPad 2 (1024 x 768)

  iPhone 4S (960 x 640)

  iPhone 3 (480 x 320)

  Everything works fine in InDesign. Problem is when I try to import on DPS with the Panel Builder Folio. I get the following error:

  Error generating content.

  [Error: page in a document sizes are not supported.]

  See attached screenshot. Anyone else see this problem?

  

  When you create a document with alternative presentations, you cannot use Import at the moment. Use the Add button.

• Different layouts to Portrait/Landscape page &amp; other general issues

  I am writing an iPad App on any Flex experience. I have some knowledge of previous Actionscript, although my experience is in web development or Win Forms Applications. I think that, above all, I just need to get my head in the right place, so I have a few questions.

  1. different layouts for the States of Portrait/Landscape

  I really do not seem to understand the "States", so I don't know if they have what I want to use or not, but I've been struggling with this for a while.

  I want a label on the page that says "your device is in Portrait Mode" etc. However, when you rotate the device, it will change to 'your device is in Landscape Mode.

  The purpose of this is so I have completely different layouts (changing all values of text alignment etc.) for each mode.

  2. different "Pages" / views ".

  Another thing that seems just a foreign concept to me, but it is also common in Windows phone development.

  I have a collection of buttons/links/w and when I click on one I want that he take me to another page with text.

• An automatic layout page/overflow issue

  Forgive me if this is a very basic question (it's probably!), but it is a problem of layout that is a little more advanced than what I have worked with so far in InDesign.

  I'm working on a guide of type "how to use".  The layout you want for the guide will look something like this:

  

  Now, the number of steps in each of the minis tutorials will vary (a tutorial could have 5 stages, 12, etc.); but basically, each step will consist of three elements. Text, a screenshot and additional notes that might provide a hint, a reference for more information or additional comment.

  Now, my question is... is it possible to plan the autoflowing such as the three elements can "auto format" as a group, if I need to insert a new step between two existing?  In other words, if I have the three steps above and then decide to do another step between 2 and 3, it is possible to automatically move existing step 3 to step 4 on the next page, and the 'new' stage becomes stage 3? (I hope that makes sense).

  I tried to look in the help file, but I still confuse. 8-)  Thank you for the pointers help sections or tutorials that might make this a little more clear.

  If you want that step, the screen shot and notes to behave as a unit, you want to probably those parts that make up the unit moves to a new page if one of them is too long to go on the current page, or when you insert one or more units in the stream.

  A table is a way to handle this. You can set the cell borders to white, wide enough to create the spaces between the items; You can also set boundaries for zero width and color no, set cell overlays for maintaining inter-point spaces.

  To create the dial, you use a paragraph style that uses a numbered list. If each element on a line will be numbered the same - 1, 1, 1, then 2, 2, 2, etc., your paragraph styles can use one of the following methods to get the numbering:

  * Use a numbered list. For the style of paragraph number step, use a numbering system that increases by one for each stage. For the screenshot and the numbered note of paragraph styles, use the same numbered list, put in place to keep the same number step whose line it is on.

• 8 of RoboHelp HTML - layout VERY basic and naming issue.

  OK, I'm sure this must be obvious to everyone because I can't seem to find in the places I tried. My personal experience with the help files is not help (Yes, I know, pun intended).

  I create a RoboHelp HTML to a PDF file.

  When importing the file, I give myself the opportunity to create a new topic based on a style. Great so far. After doing experimental and looked at the exit that I am of the feeling that "something" is "an HTML document that, in theory, covers an area of interest, that's why the subject of the phrase.

  Then I opened the help file for IE I see the content as "Find the Pages Web You Want" and «Browsing the Web Offline» None of them can be selected to display information in the right pane, but open both to show what I will call "subtopics", which each opens what appears to be an html document in the right pane.

  Adobe Help files are a little easier to deal with, just navigate to the folder for help and there are all of the HTML files.

  So, I'm confused, and I have a major mental block which makes it difficult to act without getting a hierarchy/layout. And if this information is available in Robohelp or place help me smack in line, right to the back of the head and point me in the right direction because I'm not.

  Internet Explorer help, what should I call the links in the left pane, where I can click to bring up a page in the right pane? What I call the elements that I can stress that, when clicked, display list clickable links? And it is true that if I ask RoboHelp to create a topic out of each of a given style, then I'll have a separate HTML document for each instance of this style?

  Hi there and welcome to the wonderful world of wild and wacky to help creation!

  The area on the left side is generally called a "Navigation pane". The Navigation pane usually has different points of view. Table of contents (TOC), Index, glossary, and of course, research.

  Table of contents contains a metaphor books and Pages. Each book contains Pages inside. Each Page includes links directly to a file HTML (Topic).

  Indeed, if you are suck content PDF, RoboHelp is told what the criteria is to divide the long PDF document in individual HTML topic pages.
