• LR4 - book Module - none of the custom formats?  Automatic layout works only on odd pages?  Bug reports.  Thoughts.

  I'm a photographer wedding and Portrait Professional & thought it may be useful to others & Adobe to share some thoughts and questions.

  I just ordered LR4 yesterday 3/7, as soon as I saw he is out =) I'll have the software delivered to me, but in the meantime, I downloaded the trial version of the LR4 which I started to play with today.  BTW is identical to the full version trial version but active only for 30 days?  Or some of its limited features?

  I had a few questions about the book module.  Some of them I think that are bugs.

  • Is it possible to enter in custom formats?  I don't see that see there is an option for 5 sizes and impossible to find another option.
  • I tested the automatic layout function.  It automatically layout, but only on odd pages, even pages are left in white.  Could not find a way to settle this.  (Updated, I like the white page feature, it gives extra room for manoeuvre to change the page layouts and for me it's easier to delete a page that Add.)
  • When you add favorite layouts I can't add page spreads to my favorites.
  • When I press tab to get rid of the side windows, I can't scroll further down in the book.
  • The navigation on the left and right arrow buttons do not directly work in the main screen.

  It would be nice to have more control over preferences in the book such as the particular custom formats Module.  As it is, it feels unusually restrictive.  That said I am very excited by the possibilities that this may cause.  From now on I'd still certainly the final layout in PS, but I hope I do the initial design approximate layout using this new book module.  Looks like it could save a lot of time and be much easier to do this step in PS.

  Let me first, I'm not an expert on ledger. Yes, I used it for a while, but many components of the module are much too dark for my taste. In fact, you have identified certain aspects that left me scratching my head for the months, not hours or days.

  1. Custom formats is not directly supported at the present time, but I understand that users will be able to create their own page/models using Adobe Illustrator. I can't say when this facility will be available well.
  2. To change a page layout (left/right pages, etc.), you need open the Preset automatic page layout editor. To do this, choose the form Edit Auto Preset layout from the menu editor drop-down preset (directly under the header Panel automatic layout)
  3. Have noticed this myslef, I don't remember if it is a bug or a design limit.
  4. Not seeing this problem, it works very well on Mac OS X. try clicking on the scroll bar to make it active, it may help.
  5. Yet once again, not seeing this problem, the left and right buttons in the main window of content move from one page to another.

  It is also interesting to note, in case you have not discovered yet, preferences located under the menu book book. This is where you define what metadata are used to auto fill in the areas of text (for example, title or legend).

  I expect that one or more of the other pre release testers who spent more time than me in this module will probably be able to fill the gaps.

• Automatically add Pages

  A year ago, someone told me how to automatically add pages of a document while pasting text. It has worked flawlessly, but since then, I've completely forgotten how to do this.

  I've been screwing around with this for a while once again and can not find a way to do it. Could someone help?

  Here's what I'm trying to do. I have a Word Doc (a book) with about 275 pages of text. I want to copy and paste the text into ID CS5 for the layout in book format. How do I paste the text forward and have it automatically create the exact number of pages to fit all the text?

  It seems that I made a text box and pressed some keys or something while gluing, but honestly, I can't remember. It was something super simple, and I'm going crazy.

  Someone remembers how to do this?

  You must place the text using the file > place command. Shift, click on when you place and all pages will be added automatically.

• Fixed size appropriate to the layout Page

  What might be appropriate for EPUB fixed layout Page size? Is there a best practice? Should I take the format of the iBook author who is 1004 pt 768 x? Google Book search play suggestions (I have not found any...).

• Pages on issues of formatting to iCloud

  Hey everybody,

  I created a document Pages using the Pages application on my macbook pro I downloaded then to iCloud Pages so that I can access it from any computer. The issue I'm having is that I formatted some of the text to have a black background and the text to yellow color. For the life of me I can't understand how to change the background color of text on the Pages of iCloud. I beginning to think that changing the background color of text just is not possible on the platform of iCloud, but wanted to put this out there just to make sure.

  Background (highlight) text color controls are absent in the Pages for iCloud, because it is a subset of Pages for Mac.

• multiple automatic master page assignments in an InDesign document

  I got quite a request of my client, and I don't know if this is possible. We are working on a multiple-chapter, each chapter as its own document, manual. They want what he delivered under a pdf print and interactive pdf. So far so good.

  Now comes the part that I can't quite wrap my head around. They want different templates for each type of pdf and want only a delivered InDesign file. The masters will be probably different headers (created in Illustrator) and elements assigned. They also talk about the different margins, and I hope that they decide against it.

  I pronounce the InDesign files, but also print and interactive files. The client wants something that she can work well with in the future.

  So, my questions:

  (1) is there an easy way to change the Master pages in a document without changing the presentation? Perhaps using a script any? Is it possible to use a book .indb file to achieve this? I really don't want to have to reassign the master pages

  (2) I found that pages in the documents does not always block for text frames in master pages, especially the first in threaded frames. Any ideas why this happens? When I put the text to the second, third, fourth etc pages they lock to the master. This is the first image I have trouble with. So if I can't solve this problem, so I have to also make sure that all text blocks are always aligned correctly.

  I don't know exactly what's there for tutorials, but I suspect that if do a search of conditional text in InDesign you'll find more than one.

  My workflow has not yet necessary to alternative layouts (come close once on a brochure for page American and European sizes, but he managed with two files because the customer was still CS3 and did not want to update), but I probably strongly consider if the customer insists on two layouts. If everything that they change the graphic and you use conditional text you can produce one, change the conditions and the other output. There is no move to do something manual along the line here.

• Aspect ratio in layout page/cards

  If I have 1 x 1 card and I have 1 column in my layout, a 4:3 picture format should not fill the full screen for this 1 card?

  Also, how can I get DPS swipe and stop at each article instead of infinite scrolling image? I have 5 items under a single collection slide vertically and never stops to an image to the bottom.

  AR is width: height. So if you are thinking about an iPad for example, it should be about 3:4. (higher than it is wide). For the moment, we do not have the ability to specify a card to be exact "full screen", but it's on our list as future improvements.

  Similarly, we have not yet the ability to specify cards 'snap' (slaughter to each card). Browse the pages are just good scrolling for now.

  I have a radio group that shows a sequence (something like this 1 2 3 4 5 6)... when the user selects a number, page gets sent to update the reports according to the choice...

  what I want is an additional feature to allow auto submit page after every 5 seconds with the above mentioned sequence... I imagine something like a checkbox, if it is checked, then page should be sent automatically:

  (1) in a first time P2_ITEM value must be set to 1 and then the page must be submitted

  05:02 seconds P2_ITEM value would take 2 and then page must be submitted.

  05:03 seconds P2_ITEM value would take 3 and then page must be submitted.

  and so on until the last value

  You can try to javascript.

  I imagine that you have a radio P2_ITEM group. Now create a checkbox element called P2_AUTO.

  Declare this function in the javascript section:

  With this JS code your page will be submitted every 5 seconds when your P2_AUTO is checked.

  I also have a calculation before header that fills the P2_COUNT.

  I tried to add an onload before branch of header with a condition

  You must use an application process for this loading and condition so that it works only when required and make sure it does not work on the target page :). It is an example I created for my purposes:

• RoboHelp crashes when I try to change a sensitive 5 html layout page

  If I right click on one of the pages screen layout in the section of provisions of area form of project configuration that RoboHelp breaks down.  If I create a new, the Editor opens, but RoboHelp crashes whenever I try to change it. I can manually change the slp files in a text editor, but it's not particularly easy!

  I have 11.0.3.268 of RoboHelp.  I tried to create a completely new project, and the same thing happens.  I work locally on my desk, publication on a server.  I've added yet not any control of the project's source code.

  Any suggestions would be welcome.

  It is a known problem of regression in RoboHelp 11.0.3. The only solution for now is to open the SLP files with Notepad or another editor.

• How to "Publish" layout page or extract the HTML/CSS?

  OK, I've created a nice layout, how I "post" - that is, extract the HTML/CSS so I can use it on a page in the current web site?  Don't say "Reflow overview" and other such Adobe "Getting Started" videos and when I looked for such a thing as 'Extract' or 'Release' or even 'Upload' [(ala Flash ou Dreamweaver), all I found was 'Save' and ' save under ' saves the project as a file RFLW Arcanum.]

  Given that I have not found any other question like this on the Forum, I'm starting to wonder if I'm missing something obvious!

• How to automate the Page numbering (labeling)

  Is it possible to automate the service to correctly label the page numbers that are made by - advanced, Document processing, number of Pages?

  one reason for this is if I am trying to print 5 to 10 of document pages, but page numbers are labeled as 'Page 16'; on each page.  I would use a java script or something similar for re - label the pages correctly.

  I use 'this script or function in the switch to label all PDFs of perticular customer.

• Several custom layout Page?

  So it's a little hard to imagine a thread title that sets out succinctly what I have wrong here.

  Basically, I'm wondering if it is possible to display a * SINGLE * page of a * MULTIPLE * custom layout in the print module. It is quite possible, I'm just retarded and I'm missing something simple, but when I add a page to the page layout, he appears in what is basically a grid view, with all the pages visible at a time. Addition of pages just makes each smaller page. Of course, it is not an ideal situation to make layouts.

  So, am I missing sort of totally obvious to solve this problem? The print module makes page views when making contact sheets and so on, so I know it is theoretically possible. Or is it not feasible in custom mode?

  There is a zoom button of the page on the top left preview pane
