Lenovo's Active protection system

Hello guys!

How can I remove Lenovo Active Protection System with GPO? The version of the software is 1.0.0.17, it is installed on Windows 7 Enterprise x 64 machines.

Kind regards

DH

Hi, DH,.

I believe that active Protection System uses only a standard MSI package, so just search the branch register "active protection system" HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall Look in the Uninstall key, and you should see something like:

MsiExec.exe /X {46A84694-59EC-48F0-964C-7E76E9F8A2ED}

Copy this text and add a/SB to do silent uninstall, i.e.

  • Install the hard drive in the ultrabay slot Gets the benefits of the active protection system?

    Hi all

I have a 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive I bought Lenovo and a hard drive caddy that is the thin (so there is a slight gap for those who are curious) on the thinkpad t510. what I was wondering is I dualboot on it (linux on the 500 GB) and I'm wondering if when I use windows, is the second hdd always get protected against shocks and other potentially dangerous damage of active protection system which is present for the hard disk which is preinstalled on your laptop

Based on marketing materials, it seems that the UltraBay has this feature as well.

  • Active Protection System

    Hello :-)

I have a question (and I should mention that I don't have much experience with the computer stuff ;-))):

I really need the Active Protection system for my laptop (R61i, windows 7), but the version 1.71 (the only available on the support site) just works with 64 - bit. Does anyone know, if or when there is a new version for 32 - bit?

    Thank you very much!

    Ellen

PS: Sorry for my bad English...

Hi Ellen and welcome to the forum,

Here you can find the 32-bit version for Windows 7:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?sitestyle=Lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-53150

Also, you can download and install the Lenovo system update:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/MIGR-73695.html

Update the system checks for new drivers and software from Lenovo for your computer and you give a list where you can choose what you want to download and install, and it will be installed for then it without having to download and install each one, manually. It should also give you the opportunity to download and install the Active Protection System. It is also a nice tool to check new versions of drivers and Lenovo software for your computer.

  • ThinkVantage Active Protection System disappeared after Win 8.1 upgrade

The ThinkVantage Active Protection System has disappeared from my ThinkPad after update to 8.1 Win.

I was going to reinstall it from the Lenovo ThinkVantage page but the 64-bit version of Win 8 is not available for download.

Curiously, the 32-bit version is available.

This is a temporary situation?  Will there be a version 8.1 Win?

Lenovo would anyone explain what to expect?

OK, Active Protection 64-bit to win 8.1 is now available for download and works great!

I guess I panicked and thought that Lenovo would leave supporting this excellent tool (it's happened)!

  • Should I really ThinkVantage Active Protection System?

I'm always tired on third party software and additional things to windows... specially the programs that start themselves when windows starts. So I wonder about ThinkVantage Active Protection System... do I really need it on my T440s? I read it as an airbag to protect disk HARD incase I let fall or bump my machine. But what happens if its still sitting on my desk and I never let it drop or knock it. then what I still have to install?

As long as your machine is runing a typical hard drive and not an SSD n, I would keep the APS installed. If you feel that it interferes with the operation of the HARD disk, you can change the settings and make it less sensitive.

  • ThinkVantage Active Protection System for T520

I wonder why there is no aps for T520. Is it because the laptop has a ssd?

You must install the driver and the applet for the APS.

If you use only the SSD, then you don't need it at all.

  • Pilot of U160 APS (Active Protection System)

    Hello

I have improved my IdeaPad U160 Windows 7 64-bit and download pages do not show the drivers of the APS. The driver that has been stored in the software on the hard drive partition does not work with 64-bit; in fact, it prevents Windows to start even in safe mode, while I had to use an image of the partition to restore the system. Anyone know where to download this driver? I tried the driver for the U330; it installed, but it reports very sudden movement and parks, that the HARD drive takes into account so that the IdeaPad is rock steady.  I don't know if it's the wrong driver, or if the movement detector does not work correctly.

    Best regards

    Mandos

Thanks for the suggestion. I found a U160 with Windows 7 x 64 (complete with record drivers on D :) in an electronics store and checked the version numbers of the APS. They are identical to those for the U330. That's why I turned it on again on my own, and sharp the strange movement it earlier could not be replicated. I don't know the reason for the effect, but as we go, now I'll stay with the 1.70.09 U330 driver. If I fail again, I uninstall the driver and use the one that I copied from the IdeaPad at the electronics store.

    Best regards

  • Active protection on any internal hard drive?

I just bought a new T400 with a 160 GB hard drive, and I have a spare 320 hard drive I put in it.  The Active Protection of ThinkVantage works with any modern internal hard drive, or only those that Lenovo is using?  If this is only some of them, how can I know if the one I have will work with it?  Thank you.

    Hi djshack,

Your T400 has a built-in accelerometer ("g sensor") which monitors the software of Protection Active. If he sees acceleration over an adjustable threshold, it indicates your hard drive to Park its heads. Head-parking is a standard feature of the hard drives. So, the system should work with any hard drive compatible with your T400.

  • Active protection

ThinkPad Win Pro 10 440 p. I installed Active Protection of Lenovo, which is displayed in the Panel as Protection Airbag. Seems to work as shown in the animation in the control panel applet control of movement and protection. There is no icon in the notification area. I remember there used to be an icon. Hovering over it should show the name TP shocks, is the absence of icon design?

If you start the application, on the config tab, there is an option to display an icon in the status bar (down, under the heading of notification)

I just bought a Satellite L650 / 07C. When I bought it from the dealer, I was under the impression that this model came with the function disk hard drive shock protection system (hard drive Impact sensor).
I ran the Toshiba PC Health Monitor application, but it seems not to have this function - it gives me the power settings, Temp and fan are monitored, as well as a status of hard disk drive, but nothing on the disk hard drive shock anti-siphoning (hard drive Impact sensor).

Under my file utilities Toshiba HDD SSD Alert application that shows the same icon as the one I saw in the reseller on their Toshiba Satellite when they did there evidence the shock protection system. I ran this application, but it gives me just a status message that the drive works properly.

Could someone please confirm with certainty whether the model I have this feature.

    Thank you very much.
