Don't do it, it's a very bad idea, even if it were possible.

The ultrabay is removable, so if you have removed half of your system partition would be unusable, more the main Bay uses the SATA standard, the ultrabay converts SATA PATA, so it is much slower. It is better to have your data stored on a separate partition from your operating system anyway, if you ' r OS always desperately crashed, you can reformat the partition without touching any of the data in partition 2, so it's really a good idea to make at least two partitions on your system disk.

Even if you had a desktop computer with two identical drives, you need RAID to consider them as a single disc and then if a drive is dead, you would not be able to access the data on... and what is the advantage to have them on the same letter drive anyway?   none that I can think of.

    Hi bert958,

Sounds like a motherboard, probably a dead fuse problem.

But because the fuses are soldered, you will need a new motherboard unless you can fix it yourself.

  • Low speed SSD on Lenovo T61

I bought new SSDS OCZ Vertex2 120 GB for my laptop, but the speed of R/Wr is low - max 140 MB/s (support SSD up to 260 MB/s) & problems with the FirmWare update are performed.

    It is a Chipset problem?

    This is a BIOS problem.

    old BIOS:

    new hacked BIOS

did you update the bios SATAII? in the contrary case, the laptop is limited to SATAI speed, that's why you see only the limit of 140 MB/s.

If you did not upgrade, then you should try bios update of Middleton.

  • Lenovo T61 - 7663-AY2 uninstall Vista SP1 to SP2 and now cannot restart

    Hello community,

I did something wrong with my Lenovo computer.

I tried to upgrade vista SP1 to SP2 in order to continue to receive updates from windows, but I failed to improve.

I read on a forum that to go if you have some difficulties to move from SP1 to SP2, the best thing to do is to uninstall SP1, in order to re-install again and after the update to SP2 is easy.

So I uninstalled Vista SP1: KB936330 from my laptop and now it cannot restart. I'm facing the famous! 0xc01a001d! registry error.

I tried all content restoration factory (MS DOS, restoring from the last restore point), but it cannot restart.

Is there a usual thing do in this case, before the start in the order, he returned with the factory setting?

  • Lenovo t61 no display, only if I connect an external monitor.

I started using my lenovo with a second screen, but then after a few days the main screen of my laptop has stopped working, and I can use it only to the secondary monitor. If I put windows 'Add' screens and I close and open the laptop, for about 1 second I can see some images, but the resolution does not, the colors are a strange shade of blue, and there are horizontal lines on the screen. Then it goes black again.

I assumed it was a GPU problem, maybe overheating? But then I thought well, the secondary monitor works, so maybe it's just a display problem.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I've had this laptop second hand so I have no warranty, I want to rule out any software problem before buying new pieces or even a new laptop.

    Thank you!

  • Installation of XP SP1 on a lenovo T61

I can't make it work: Device Manager displays all important devices (ethernet controller network controller (wifi I presume), video controller) all suspended off the coast of the other devices node, with the yellow question marks and exclamation points.

I copied all the packages that appear to be vaguely relevant to the downloads page, it seems that some of them do not kick, because my XP is SP1. Someone knows what to do to get get the XP SP1 will?

    TIA!

Can't you manually download SP3 on the computer where you post here: -.

  • Fan of Lenovo T61

    T61 7665-d61

My fan looks like I run a dvd on high performance what you recommend to do.
I had no fan error or anything

It happens especially when I'm playing games and it really comes

I'll add to the post of my friend Lead_org telling you may have a bad fan if the noise is abnormal, or it could be your system just trying to cool down. If the sound is normal, but it is not something your opportunity at the hearing, it could indicate a problem with cooling system, the fins of cooling may be clogged or bad thermal contact between the heatsink and the cpu/gpu. With the age of these things, I strongly recommend you remove your radiator and completely clean it and replace the thermal paste on the CPU and the GPU with some Artic Silver #5. This has been run cooler then the plant spent at least 3-4 degrees C. While your there you can replace the fan motor if you want, you can buy them on ebay for around $12 shipped, or you can buy a complete set, the radiator and the fan, but there are different models of heat sinks, if you need to get the right pair.

  • HDD for Lenovo T61 6458-6QG

Hello! I have laptop T61 6458-6QG and you want to change the HARD drive to a 500 GB. What brand and type of drive to buy? What is the best right now for this laptop?

Yes, you can use a SATA II drive.

With stock BIOS it will transfer as well always to SATA I speeds (aka SATA 150).

With a modded BIOS, you will be able to use all the features SATA II.

Try to change the pref on the subject ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled: page default config-1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the work button.

Close and restart Firefox after changing the pref.

  • Layout Ultrabay Slim pin (T61)

    Hello.

I'm looking for technical information on the Ultrabay connector in my T61. It would satisfy me to know if there is an available USB port (and where).

    History:

I own a lenovo T61 (7663 - 13G) without a peripheral WWAN and it is still in warranty.
I would put my dongle USB WWAN Ultrabay case. Is "nicer" and cheaper looking and buying a PCMCIA card with a small external antenna.
Plug and unplug my USB device works, but I have to wait for it to be detected, enter my PIN code, wait for network record and then can connect. I'm lazy and sooner or later I'll break something. I know myself.
(Store atm of USB device in a box for 2 hard drive empty.)

Yesterday, I looked for a usable space for placing the WWAN card, but there is none left. Unsecured I consider removing PCMCIA plug and place it somewhere out there. But this isn't an option for an additional year.

the Ultrabay slim connector the T61 is a PATA connection.

  • Cannot eject the disc hard ultrabay in ' Safely Remove Hardware and and eject the media.

    Just installed my T430s with Win7 x 64.
But I have a problem to the ejection of my hard drive in ultrabay using the icon "Safely Remove Hardware and and eject the media.

I installed the latest Intel Rapid storage driver (RST) worm. 12.8.10.1005 download of Lenovo.

UltraBay drive hard not in the list using the driver Lenovo RST!

If I use the native Win7 driver (Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller), it works:

Works very well using native driver.

I guess that the Intel RST pilot could have some improvements to the native driver... so I would frefer using them.

This is what it looks like in Device Manager:
    Driver Intel RST:

    Win7 x 64 native driver:

Suggestions... someone at - it a newer driver of RST?
Tried to find one at Intel without luck :-(

I tried today with 4 different drivers and here is the result:
1: "Lenovo" RST driver version 12.8.10.1005: best performance of all. Does NOT support ultrabay ejct!
2: Intel RST driver ver. 12.9.0.1001: a little slower than 1. Support ultrabay eject!
3: Intel RST driver ver. 13.1.0.1058: a little bit faster than 2, but not as fast as 1. Support ultrabay eject!

4: Win7 x 64 native driver AHCI: a little slower than the others. Support ultrabay eject!

Test drive: Micron C400 256 GB

Also tried Intel 320 128 GB and using this disc the native driver was also fast drivers Intel RST (did not try the 'Lenovo' RST).

How to join Lenovo for the 'Lenovo' fixed driver?
