MOD Edit: Edited for clarity subject line.

Good day and welcome to the community.

Your space shows this icon: ?

If so, please try the Fn key and then hit the space bar.

If your area does not have this icon, then, in my experience, you don't have a backlit keyboard.

  • Activate the Keyboarding for guest VM without clicking the window innto

    Hello

I've set up an Ubuntu guest on a Windows 7 host machine, and I'm very happy with it. However, I have a problem:

When I switch to VMWare Workstation by using the keyboard (Alt - Tab), I can not immediately entered anything in the comments via the keyboard. I always first click in the window.

To make it more clear: what I do when I use a different program on the Windows host:

1 alt - Tab for VMWare Workstation

    2. click in the window workstation

    3. use the keyboard to interact with comments

    What I want to do:

1 alt - Tab for VMWare Workstation

2 use the keyboard to interact with comments

How can I make that happen? I would also welcome to use the keyboard, for example, press ENTER to be bale to use comments.

Ahh, I think that I figured it by myself:

There is a menu entry "Keyboard Grab", that is mapped to Ctrl-G.

So I have to do the following:

1 alt - Tab for VMWare Workstation

    2. press on Ctrl-G

    3. use the keyboard to interact with comments

  • Missing menu of BIOS activation to activate the keyboard backlit on latitude e6420

    Hello

I bought a backlit keyboard for my 6420 latitude which was only equipped with a model not illuminated at the time I got it.

By pressing Fn + >, nothing happens. I have read many things on the web, and it seems that we must go into the BIOS and enable the backlit. I said I should find the menu under system configuration and illumination of the keyboard, but I do not have this menu...

I also had a quick glance and shortcut keys and were those related to the backlit keyboard... Looking at the Control Panel, properties of the keyboard, I do not have the backlight tab, «Brightness keyboard»
Anyone know how I can activate my backlit keyboard and detected it as such?

Before buying the backlit keyboard, I am in contact with Dell support to make sure that I can upgrade my laptop with a backlit model without facing compatibility issues. They told me that I just needed to order the backlit model as a spare part and it will work... but it's not...

Did someone knows how I can get the backlit keyboard work or is it just bad luck and it would never work? Thank you in advance for your help!

Don't know if this question has been answered but, while I came here looking for the answer that I accidentally he figured out on my latitude e6410, press the function key and the arrow to the right, it has been located here with the brightness of the scree.

Any help is greatly appreciated on both issues.

Tried, and it didn't work. I finally tried a hard reset, removing all PC keyboard drivers & synchronized after the hard reset. He deleted the driver for the Pocket PC, which I couldn't do before. I have also re-uploaded the correct driver, re-installed and things are now working properly.

  • Satellite P750-13F - how to activate the keyboard backlit on Windows 8

    Hello!

Today, I installed Windows 8 premium on my P750-13F, which features a backlit keyboard. In order to upgrade to Windows 8 I had to uninstall certain Toshiba drivers and other programs.

Now, I have fully functional Windows 8, but I don't know how to access the functions of FN key (screen brightness, wifi power button, volume up/down).

Now that the FN key is innoperative function that I miss the most is that for illumination of the keyboard, because I can still do everything else by other methods (I mean volume up/down, brightness etc) but I don't know how to illuminate the keyboard now.

I tried to install the Toshiba hardware configuration utility, but it will not install with Windows 8. I like so much if the FN key remains innoperative (although that would be nice if it would not) but what I really want to be able to change the lighting of the keypad.

I'll be very grateful for any ideas.

Up to Toshiba doesn t offer Win8 tools and utility there is nothing you can do about it. I hope that will happen very soon.
So please be patient until the stuff of Win8 will be offered for download.

  • How to activate the keyboard repeat

This is a topic that has received a lot of comments, but I have found no solution.  I have an Elitebook 8530W, the problem is when you use the keyboard built into the laptop the keyboard repeat does not work.  If I use an external keyboard through my docking station, everything works as expected.  All key functions are working, but for holding a key, so only the key repeat place ideas help please.

It may or may not be possible (although more - I would have said just before that - keyboards provide the functionality).  Go to start / Control Panel / Keyboard and check for repeat rate or repeat what allows - if they exist, you should be able to make it work (unless the keyboard itself is perhaps faulty).  If it is not there (there are no controls) then the keyboard maybe do not have this feature, but it may be available.  Go to the web site of the manufacturer of the computer and are looking for the most up-to-date drivers, firmware or software for your keyboard and install it to see if that adds functionality.  If not, then the keyboard only has not the function repeat that it contains and there isn't really anything you can do on this issue (since same replacement will not solve the problem if it is not programmed to do).  The only option would be to search Bing, Google,www.tucows.comand www.download.com for 3rd party software which adds this feature to the keyboard and is compatible with your version of Vista and your computer (if such software exist).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • The backlight on my keyboard stopped working

Hello. I had my laptop for less than a week and the backlight for my keyboard stopped working. I was not able to find something to help me with this... is a simple switch to turn it on and off, or am I missing something?

    Thank you
    Alan

I put t know which model of laptop you have and what operating system you use, but, in general you can use the FN + Z key combination to toggle the backlight on the keyboard.

    Check it out.

If you are using Win7 open Toshiba Assist > Optimize > Toshiba hardware settings and you will find the keyboard backlight options.

If you use open Win8 Toshiba Desktop Help > function key and you will find the option for it.

    Check it out.
After what model of laptop and operating system are you using.

  • Need help to activate the FLVPlayback CS3 keyboard access

How can I activate the keyboard control on a video displayed in the CS3 FLVPlayback component? I've coded work using the FLVPlaybackCaptioning component and a SMIL file. I've added the fix ActionScript to disable closed captioning from the beginning of film. With the help of a mouse, everything works fine. Now, I need to set the control for keyboard accessibility. I've searched and searched and can not know how to do this soon again and using the third-party tool Captionate and component. How can I add keyboard accessibility with these native components of CS3? Help!

Thank you. Search other forums and listen to others with the same question, I came to the conclusion that the shipped FLAPlayback CS3 component does not expose access to keyboard controls; in other words, using Tab and other keys instead of a mouse. So, I built my own component of video playback by using some of the pre-built components and I built myself. Now I have a video player that is really accessible to Section 508.

Hope that in the next version of Flash, Adobe takes accessibility seriously by all accessible components and provides complete documentation for all developers, from beginner to advanced, easily create accessible applications.
