On IE when I use it I always have to click on the volume mixer and turn on IE

IE the seconds - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced Options - multimedia - check the sounds - APPLY / OK
If it is checked, then uncheck the box - APPLY / OK - close and restart IE then check back and APPLY and OK
