Relink 'Library of Photos' to iCloud photo library

This question relates to a clean install of Mac OS Sierra

I have my library of Photos in pictures file, and there all my uploaded images. When I format my computer, how can I create a link to this file with iCloud photo library, so I don't have to download anything new?

I still did not understand the exact procedure for this and want to avoid download it all again as I have in the past. There must be a way to link to the top, since I downloaded them all already.

You can not

If you restore a library or repair one that it triggers a total upload to make sure that everything is in harmony, there is no way to avoid that - you just start a new library and let ICPL fill the iCloud - he loses people and all

I deleted all of my photo, My Photo Stream etc. flows including shared library iCloud.

I have also ensured that the recently deleted album is empty. I disabled iCloud photo library on each device. It should not be a trace of left.

However, I always told my library back 1.9 GB of my storage iCloud. There is an option to turn it off completely but it will take 30 days, which is a long wait when I don't know if it will work.

Any ideas that he could be taking all this space? Or if there is a way to reset all empty without waiting for 30 days?

  • iCloud library download not any photo library

    Hello

I decided to start using iCloud photo library, so I checked the option "Préférences"-> "iCloud" Photos (version 2.0). He started to download items very well, but I noticed it is not downloading the entire library of Photos. My photo library contains 7065 photos and 151 videos, but Photos only started to load about 2500 points on iCloud library after activating what is 16.5 GB (see screenshots). When you look at the size of "Library.photoslibrary Photos" is 46.5. Does anyone know a reason for this difference? Thank you

It'll take some time according to the signal from your ISP and Wi - Fi.  Make sure that your signal is good.

  • If I upload my photos to the iCloud library remain my original photos on my MacBook Pro?

If I upload my photos to the iCloud library remain my original photos on my MacBook Pro?

Yes, they do. See:iCloud photo library - Apple Support

Note that if you open the Photos on your Mac and go to preferences and click on iCloud at the top of the preferences window, there are 2 options: 'Download the originals of this Mac' and 'Optimize Mac storage.' If you choose the option optimize and your Mac is low on storage space, then the originals can be replaced with smaller optimized versions.

  • Should I Photostream if I use iCloud photo library

Hi, I use iCloud library on my MBP, two iPhones and iPad and I still active Photostream.

I'll try to find our knowledge if I need Photostream as well as use iCloud.  I have more than enough storage for the moment in the cloud then from what I can tell Photostream is not something that would fail me if I turned it off.  At the same time, I can't find a definitive answer anywhere!

Grateful that if ever I decide to stop using the cloud, I can turn Photostream for my last few thousand photos.

I also try to work if there is anyway that I can reduce the amount of space on my iPhone which currently takes about 13 GB of photo library.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Matt

If you do not use my Photo Stream, turn off all devices.

You need my photo only, stream if you also use older devices with iOS 7 or more, which can not support iCloud photo library. But if all your devices are set to synchronize with iCloud photo library, you don't need my photo stream. It might even cause problems.

  • iCloud photo library and FIRST photos in iOS

I would like to enable capture of RAW files in iOS 10. I have a 256 GB 7 iPhone +, but at 30 MB per DNG, storage will be used quickly if I don't get the photos on the phone regularly.

It is true that I am still unclear on iCloud photo library works. I activated on my iPhone, but I think it means it stores the photos on the phone and also downloads in the cloud?

If I had to come home every day and transfer the DNG on my Mac and remove them from my phone, I assume that they will have is no longer a storage space on my phone, but would take place in iCloud if they were downloaded before I moved out of my phone?

Looks like I should cut iCloud photo library if I am shooting RAW, since I would like to download very large photos that I don't necessarily want to keep?

iCloud is a synchronisation/mirroring service and not a traditional cloud solution based.  If you are looking for a more traditional based cloud solution, then consider using an application third, for example Dropbox, Flickr or Google Photos.

  • iCloud photo library is not available

I have an imac with mac sierra.  When I go to system-> Preferences-> icloud and try to choose 'photos', he keeps by unchecking it. no error message. When I opened the photos app and go to Preferences-> iCloud library its selected.

They both should not be selected?

Also at the top left there are 'photos' I thought showed pictures.  under the albums, there is a folder "all photos". Celle one of the high 'photos', seems to have stopped to update, as the choice of background under albums, "all photos" has all the latest photos and continues to update.  Anyone know if this is normal or what is wrong?

I have an imac with mac sierra.  When I go to system-> Preferences-> icloud and try to choose 'photos', he keeps by unchecking it. no error message. When I opened the photos app and go to Preferences-> iCloud library its selected.

I had which also occur at first. Is photos showing a short message 'check library' before it resets the check mark for iCloud > Photos?

In this case, fix your photo library.  After I fixed the library, it was possible to activate system preferences-> icloud-> Photos.  See this help page: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.2/?lang=en#/pht6be18f93

Important: You must back up your library before repair of your library.

    • If the photo is open, choose Photos > Photos of quit smoking.
    • Press Option-command and double-click on the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or click the Photos icon in the Dock). The library of repair window opens.
    • Click on fix to rebuild your library.

The second problem can also indicate a problem with the library:

under the albums, there is a folder "all photos". Celle one of the high 'photos', seems to have stopped to update, as the choice of background under albums, "all photos" has all the latest photos and continues to update.  Anyone know if this is normal or what is wrong?

Photos seems to be missing in the 'Photos' album, but the power be sorted differently from the album picture all.  Select one of the photos in all the Photos that does not appear in the Photos, ctrl-click and use the command 'display in the moment '.  If she does not appear in the Moments in Photos, fix the library.

  • photos on iCloud library not to display on the iPhone

    Hello

First of all, I am running: MacOS Sierra & iOS 10.

I'm Tournai on iCloud photo library on my mac and synchronized about 6000 pictures (which was AAAGGGEEESSS) to the cloud.

I then turned on the iCloud photo library on my iPhone 6 s, and once again, downloaded more than 1500 pictures.

Now, in the Photos app on my mac, I can see all the photos (including my phone) and when I login to iCloud via a web browser, I can also see all 7000 +. However, on the application of photos on my iPhone, only photos taken on the phone are displayed - rather than those of my mac.

Am I missing something? As I understand it, all my photos must be posted on the phone (even if "Optimized storage" is enabled).

Try the head tilt iCloud library switch to see if it could kickstart on the iPhone.

  • How to handle Monster pictures 30 K in iCloud photo library? Segment or archive, suggestions?

    Hi there-

I managed to hang a new iPhone 7 now and want to put up, but I'm struggling under the weight of a photo 32 000 iCloud photo library. Yes, I know it's my fault - we had iPhones for years, I'm an accountant family and the taker of the photo, I take too many pictures, I save too many photos, I have teenage girls who take a LOT of pictures.

SO I think they are in the library of iCloud.  When I'm on my phone with iOS 10, I see "All Photos" and the total is slightly less than 32K - BUT I don't really need TO see all 32,000?  In fact, I don't really want to?  I would like to know that they are saved in their original resolution, but never need access to all those who, on minutes notice: they took 10 years to build up!

Can I 'archive' in iCloud library?  They segment somehow?

I have 7 more than 256 GB iPhone memory - isn't a storage thing, it's just something exaggerated.  I'm considering a facility clean b/c I'm also about 1000 apps more than 10 years old.

But once I sign in iCloud, I think that 30K pictures will come streaming back, right?

    Other info:

-My use of Photos on my 6 current iPhone is about 40 GB

-J' have 800 GB available on a 1 TB iCloud account

-In my iCloud account, it says that my photo library ICloud is 97 GB

-I don't have an unlimited Smugmug Pro with photo storage account (although I'm not really all 32K of these-there are many who are not guards).

-J' I download Google Photos to try to save it, but there still 30 000 pictures to back up.

-J' have a MacBook Air but (gulp) do not have upgraded the operating system to have Photos for Mac yet.

I would really appreciate it here a road map to get out of this situation - or not "stack" putting them all on my 256 GB iPhone 7 more and just accumulating more!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Why not only the photos in the photo library of iCloud?

  • Photos on macOS Sierra: Album of peoples does not synchronize with iCloud photo library

Using Photos has just been updated for Sierra, and we finally have it in writing:

    https://help.Apple.com/photos/Mac/1.2/?lang=en#/phtf5e48489c

Note: Persons identified in the album people are not synchronized between devices.

And as far as I know, it really does not synchronize between my libraries of Photos on the MacBook Pro and my iMac.

It's different in the 10 user guide iOS for the iPhone and iPad:

    http://help.Apple.com/iPhone/10/#/iph9c7ee918c

People are synchronized between devices where you are connected with the same Apple ID.

I wonder how this is supposed to work, if a Mac and iPhone are synchronized with iCloud User Library.

None of the faces that I named on my iPhone did sync it with my Mac.

Another indication that the lack of synchronization of the people and names is deliberate:

This document has now also been updated:

Use iCloud photo library on several Mac - Apple Support computers and Photos

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204486

After have connected you, these items appear in the Photos app on all your Mac computers:

    • All photos and original videos
    • All folders and albums
    • Smart albums
    • Keywords
    • Memories
    • Key photo selections

He used to say, tags searchable faces will perform synchronization between devices, but the tags are more is mentioned. Now we have the 'memories' instead.

  • I do not understand iCloud photo library...

IM probably having a time above, but I am having trouble with the use of the library.

I found that the way it worked you take a bunch of photos on your iPhone and then download the ones you want to keep the photo library to icloud. Everyone has signed in the same iTunes account could then download those they loved and keep them locally on their device.

The way it seems to actually work is that every single photo I take gets downloaded, and then downloaded to each single device on the account and if I delete one of the photos on my phone (for free space, for example) the same pictures are deleted on the iCloud library and all devices!

is there really no way to selectively download the library and then keep the photos here as a repository of images?

What is the point of having just pictures on all devices?

    Am I missing something here?

You ask if it is not possible with iCloud Photos because it was not designed for this.  iCloud is a mirror/sync implementation service that synchronizes all your photos/videos on all of your devices, making them almost immediately available on all your devices, and if you happen to delete a photo or video to a device, it is removed from all devices.

iCloud was not designed as a storage system traditional cloud based.  If that's what you're looking for, then you will have to look for opportunities to third parties such as Flickr, Dropbox or Google Photos.

You can also use the function "Optimize iPhone storage" to save space on your device.

  • My photo library iCloud takes 2.5 GB of space, even if it is empty

My photo library iCloud takes 2.5 GB of space, although it contains no photos or videos. I had this problem for about 6 months.

Enter the photo library to iCloud and select 'Disable and remove' turns off iCloud photo library. Delete everything in your Photos app - don't forget to check the shared photos and all the albums. Then, re-enable iCloud photo library.
