  My library has only about 200 GB on the Mac, with 40000 photos, but it's horrible on the iPad in an optimized version. Size is fine, he has been reduced to about 10% of its original size, but work with Photos is a pain, if each photo is just a fuzzy image and needs icloud download to view properly.
